Stephen Colbert Explains Why The Controversial New 'Star Wars' Lightsaber Is 'Perfect'

star wars the force awakens sith

When the “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” teaser trailer premiered it showed off a new three-pronged lightsaber, igniting a flurry of fans to equally defend and denounce the design.

The design is meant to protect a person's hand from opponent's lightsaber attacks. However, the argument from some fans is that those tiny blades aren’t going to do much protecting. They could easily be hacked off by other lightsabers.

star wars episode 7 lightsaber issue

The Verge wrote a lengthy geek-tastic interpretation of the flawed design while proposing a better one with mini side lightsabers at 45 degree angles. The design is similar to other lightsabers in the "Star Wars" cannon.

Here's how a fan envisions it:

star wars episode 7 lightsaber fan made

Not so fast, haters.

Self-proclaimed “Star Wars” fanatic Stephen Colbert is upset by all the flack the new lightsaber is receiving. So he elaborately broke down why the new lightsaber is a "perfect" design on "The Colbert Report."

stephen colbert lightsaber

Colbert explains:

Sadly, there are some stuck-up, half-witted, scruffy-looking nerf-herders out there who aren’t thrilled with the new Jedi weapon. They say if these things are supposed to protect your hands like sword hilts, it wouldn’t work because the first time you cross lightsabers and it slid down to the bottom of the blade your opponent’s lightsaber would chop through the little side sabers and take off your hand.

the colbert report lightsaber

"Well, I say it’s a perfect design," continued Colbert. "Here’s how it works. I’ve done my analysis."

stephen colbert star wars lightsaber

"People think it’s actually three different plasma streams, but it’s all one," explains Colbert. "The long beam right here comes out and the two smaller beams at the bottom, they’re still attached to it. They don’t start where the little metal hilt ends, okay? They’re attached to the other beam inside. The metal hilts are just casings around the little beams to protect your hand. Even if someone slices through the metal, they’re going to hit the beam right there. Any padawan knows that."

Colbert also had a retort for fans who still refused to believe him.

"Now, I know what you're thinking," said Colbert. "You’re saying, 'But Stephen, in the trailer the first light beam comes out before the other two. How could it all be one beam?'”

star wars episode 7 lightsaber

“It's simple," he said. "You just need three focusing crystal activators to split the plasma into perpendicular blade energy channels.”

All the galactic credits to Colbert.

Hackers May Have Stolen Personal Information From Thousands Of Sony Employees

Sony Pictures hack screen

Hackers may have stolen personal information pertaining to tens of thousands of Sony employees, cybersecurity expert and former Washington Post reporter Brian Krebs said on Tuesday.

Last week, Sony Pictures Entertainment's website went down after its computer systems had been hacked, resulting in the leak of several unreleased movies, including Jay Z's "Annie" reboot, among others.

But, according to Krebs, those hackers stole much more than unreleased movies. Multiple sources have told him that more than 25GB of personal data on Sony employees have been breached.

This data includes Social Security numbers, medical information, and salaries, according to Krebs.

Files currently being traded on torrent networks include a global list of Sony employees complete with names, locations, employee IDs, network usernames, base salaries, and birth dates for more than 6,000 employees. Krebs says he has seen this list himself.

Additionally, a separate file being traded online reveals names, birthdays, Social Security numbers, and health savings account data for about 700 employees. The document is dates back to April of this year, according to Krebs.

A group calling themselves the "Guardians of Peace," or GOP for short, is believed to be behind the massive attack.

The North Korean government refused to deny allegations that the country may be behind the security breach, according to the BBC. When asked if North Korea was involved in the incident, a spokesperson said "Wait and see."

We've reached out to Sony for more information on the situation and will update this article accordingly if we hear back.

Here's How Netflix Snagged Tina Fey's New Show From NBC

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt

Last week, it was announced that new Tina Fey-produced comedy "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" would move from NBC to Netflix before it even aired — and now Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos is explaining why.

After NBC worried "about the time of the year" the show would be released (March) and not having "a complementary program to launch it with," Sarandos tells Vulture he got a call from Fey.

"We got a call from Tina Fey and from Dave Miner to come to New York. We came up literally on the last day of production, watched some of the shooting. Met with Tina and the team, heard what they were planning, and said, 'Look, if you can work it out with NBC, we’d love to do it.' And within 12 hours, we’d seen nine of the 13 episodes. And within four days, the deal was done."

The show, starring "The Office" actress Ellie Kemper as a woman who escapes from a doomsday cult and starts life over again in New York City, is produced by "30 Rock" duo Fey and Robert Carlock, who have a longstanding relationship with NBC.

tina fey ellie kemper nbc"This was a strange opportunity where, usually when shows don’t make it, sometimes it has very little to do with the quality and it has everything to do with the time slot, the lead-in show, the time of year it came out," Sarandos explained to Vulture at the Gotham Independent Film Awards, where he received a career tribute award. "It was probably one of the most remarkable developments of the last couple of years in television."

And NBC boss Robert Greenblatt was on board with the swap from network TV to the streaming site, saying in a statement: "While it was originally developed for NBC, we have a very drama-heavy mid-season schedule so we’re thrilled about this Netflix opportunity; it’s an instant win-win for everyone, including Tina, Robert, and Universal Television. We’re already talking to these extraordinary creators about new development for NBC, but meanwhile, everyone here from Universal Television will do everything possible to see that 'Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt' becomes a long-running hit on Netflix."

Cindy Holland, VP of Original Content at Netflix, added to Deadline: "The very construct of 'Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt' — its offbeat premise, hilarious and rich characters and serialized storytelling — make it a perfect Netflix comedy series."

Steam Launches A Game-Streaming Service To Compete With Twitch

Steam Broadcasting

Popular games marketplace Steam just announced its own live streaming feature to compete with Twitch.

Steam is basically an app store for PC and Mac games. It's calling the new feature "Broadcasting," according to The Next Web.

With over 100 million active users, Steam is already a hub for gamers using a PC or Mac instead of a game console.

Like Twitch, Steam's Broadcasting feature will allow users to both live stream their own games or drop in and observe a friend's gaming session.

Steam BroadcastingThis means that if a friend is having trouble with a level, you could tune in to their live stream and offer advice, or if you own the same game, you could enter the game with them and help them out.

Steam is known for its avid following of PC gamers, many of which already use Twitch and Steam in tandem. Because of this, Broadcasting makes a lot of sense for Steam, essentially eliminating the need for players to use multiple programs when they're gaming.

Live-streaming services have gained massive popularity in the last five years, and with Twitch's recent acquisition by Amazon for $970 million, Steam is clearly eager to enter into the streaming space.

Broadcasting is a beta feature of Steam for now, but anyone can enable the feature by signing up for the ongoing Steam Beta here.

Bill Cosby Sued By Woman Who Claims He Assaulted Her When She Was 15

Bill Cosby is facing a lawsuit from a woman who says he sexually assaulted her at the Playboy Mansion in 1974 when she was 15, TMZ reports.

The woman's name is Judy Huth. TMZ says the suit is filed at the LA Superior Court.

She is reportedly accusing Cosby of getting her and a friend drunk before inviting them to the Playboy Mansion, telling them to lie about their age if it came up.

TMZ's account:

"Huth claims she eventually went to a bedroom with Cosby and that's where she claims Cosby began to 'sexually molest her by attempting to put his hand down her pants, and then taking her hand in his hand and performing a sex act on himself without his consent.'

Huth claims she was emotionally and psychologically damaged from the incident. As for why she filed so late, Huth claims she was so mentally scarred, that she only recently connected her psychological issues with the alleged incident."

The Associated Press notes that the woman "claims ... she discovered its impact on her within the past three years, which allows her to file the lawsuit under California law."

Sexual-assault allegations against famed comedian Bill Cosby, 77, resurfaced last month after another comedian targeted Cosby during a taped set that went viral.

Many of Cosby's accusers have said that the comedian lured them in with promises of career help and mentorship, then gave them pills to make them immobile so he could assault them. The allegations span decades — some dating back to 1969 and one as recent as 2004.

"The allegations are strung together by perceptible patterns that appear and reappear with remarkable consistency: mostly young, white women without family nearby; drugs offered as palliatives; resistance and pursuit; accusers worrying that no one would believe them; lifelong trauma," according to a comprehensive report from the Washington Post. "There is also a pattern of intense response by Cosby’s team of attorneys and publicists, who have used the media and the courts to attack the credibility of his accusers."

14 Movies To See This Winter

$

tauriel the hobbit

As we roll into the final month of the year, Oscar season is nearly upon us.

We’ve gathered the winter movies you should see, including blockbuster hopefuls from directors Ridley Scott and Peter Jackson along with award-worthy performances from Matthew McConaughey and rising star Benedict Cumberbatch.

"Whiplash"

Released: Oct. 10

Why to see it: One of the most critically acclaimed movies of the year, the film follows a young musician (Miles Teller) as he trains under his teacher (J.K. Simmons) to do whatever it takes to become a top jazz drummer. Early reviews from Sundance called Simmons' performance the "role of his career." Teller blew audiences away in "The Spectacular Now," and it's refreshing to see him in another meaty role following a string of juvenileromantic comedies

Watch the trailer.

"Interstellar"

Release Date: Nov. 7

Why see it: Director Christopher Nolan's latest is one of the smartest movies of the year — and one of the most ambitious— as it launches audiences through wormholes and black holes with Matthew McConaughey in the driver's seat. Fans were won over by a humorous monolithic robot named TARS and an unexpected cameo from a big star more than halfway through the film. Sure, the space epic came out in November; however, it's playing in IMAX theaters until the release of "The Hobbit" sequel later this month. This is one that will leave you thinking long after you leave the movies.

Good news science lovers: It also pleased critics including popular astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson.

Watch the trailer.

"The Theory of Everything"

Wide release date: Nov. 7

Why to watch: See this for Eddie Redmayne's performance as Stephen Hawking alone. The film will undoubtedly leave you with some questions about Hawking's life; however, Redmayne gives a miraculously moving performance as the theoretical physicist that will move you to tears. Felicity Jones is also exceptional as Hawking's wife Jane.

Watch the trailer.

Man Details The Time He Allegedly Retrieved His Disoriented Female Friend From Bill Cosby's Apartment In 1984

The stomach-churning allegations against famed comedian Bill Cosby keep coming.

This time, a man told The Daily Beast how he allegedly saved one of his confused female friends from Cosby's New York City brownstone back in 1984. Beth Ferrier, a former model who has made similar allegations, was apparently there, too.

One day around midnight in September of that year, Tony Hogue said he started pounding on Cosby's front door. Twenty minutes earlier, his friend had called him, crying hysterically. As Hogue, now the owner of a graphic design business in New Jersey, described the conversation to The Daily Beast's Lloyd Grove:

"She said, 'Tony, you've got to come get me.' And I said, 'What are you talking about?' And she said, 'Tony, I've been in this room, I think on the second floor, and I've been here for a long time. I don't think I'm even in my own clothes. I'm almost numb. I can't stand up. I can't see straight. My clothes are all disheveled.'"

When Hogue asked about Cosby, the woman said he kept coming into the room, trying to kiss her.

After about a minute of banging on the door by Hogue, Cosby allegedly opened the door. Then 47, the actor and comedian stood at the peak of his fame. "What's the problem?" Cosby asked, according to Hogue.

Hogue demanded that his friend and Ferrier come with him. Cosby, however, tried to explain they had too much to drink and weren't feeling well, Hogue said.

Hogue dashed up the stairs, calling his friend's name. He found her (but not Ferrier) "in her clothes but she was a mess," he said. "She looked drugged and in a fog, and she couldn't snap out of it."

The two immediately left Cosby's and went back to their company's apartment.

The allegations from Hogue's story aren't new. His friend is "Jane Doe 8," one of 13 women slated to testify in a 2005 sexual assault lawsuit against Cosby. The women, however, didn't testify as the case was settled before trial.

The woman, asking to remain anonymous, told The Daily Beast via email that Hogue did "rescue" her, although she felt like "Tony might have thought that I was imagining things." Hogue even acknowledges he had a hard time believing her story at the time.

"Even at the time, I didn’t suspect anything really foul. Maybe she had drunk too much or ate something wrong," he told The Daily Beast.

A Female Sony Executive Reportedly Makes Nearly $1 Million Less Than Her Male Counterpart Each Year

sony michael lynton

Sony Pictures Entertainment, one of Hollywood's biggest studios, was hacked last week, and the breadth and depth of the data breach was so massive that it forced Sony to move its operations offline.

Fusion's Kevin Roose has done an excellent job reporting on all the leaked data, which included the names and Social Security numbers of Sony employees, Sony's payroll data, all the employees who were fired or laid off last year, and even detailed employee performance reviews.

The leaked documents reveal a huge gender and racial discrepancy among Sony's 17 highest-paid executives. The list of Sony's highest-paid execs is 88% white and 94% male.

The documents, which have not been verified by Sony, also reveal that Hannah Minghella, who serves as co-president of production at Sony's Columbia Pictures division, makes $800,000 less per year than her male counterpart, Columbia Pictures co-president of production Michael De Luca.

Roose explains:

De Luca is on target to earn $2.4 million (including bonuses) in 2014, while Minghella is on track to earn $1.6 million.

Minghella’s “annual rate” as of October 21, 2014 was $850,000, according to the spreadsheet, significantly less than De Luca’s $1.5 million base salary. The document says that Minghella, who joined Sony Pictures in 2005, is eligible to receive an additional $300,000 under the company’s performance-based bonus plan, called Aspire, and various other bonuses. No Aspire bonus amount is listed for De Luca, perhaps because he only joined the company in March. Neither De Luca nor Minghella responded to requests for comment.

De Luca and Minghella were quick to dismiss rumors of tension and a power struggle earlier this year.

The FBI has launched an investigation into the hacks with Sony's support.

"The FBI is working with our interagency partners to investigate the recently reported cyber-intrusion at Sony Pictures Entertainment," the FBI said in an emailed statement to Variety. "The targeting of public and private sector computer networks remains a significant threat, and the FBI will continue to identify, pursue and defeat individuals and groups who pose a threat in cyberspace."

Read The Internal Memo Sony Execs Sent Staffers After Massive Company Hack

Amy Pascal Michael Lynton

On Tuesday, a spreadsheet revealing Sony's highest-paid executive salaries was made public in the latest of a series of cyber attacks against the film studio. In addition, the personal data and Social Security Numbers of 3,803 employees have been disclosed online, five unreleased films have been released online, and a cyberattack knocked out the studio's computer network.

After saying "no comment" thus far and instead letting the FBI deal with it, Sony
CEO Michael Lynton and co-chairman Amy Pascal — whose $3 million salaries were revealed in yesterday's attack — are finally speaking out.

The memo also explained that "we are offering all employees identity protection services with a third-party service provider" for staffers concerned about their private info being released online. In a company memo sent late Tuesday, the two honchos called the situation "a brazen attack on our company, our employees and our business partners, adding that "the release of employee and other information are malicious criminal acts, and we are working closely with law enforcement."

The personal info made public includes employees' names, job titles, home addresses, bonus plans, and salaries.

The Interview PosterThe studio was initially hacked last week by a group calling itself "Guardians of Peace," ironically a month before the studio is set to release the Seth Rogen and James Franco comedy "The Interview," about two journalists recruited by the CIA to assassinate North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. The Pyongyang government denounced the film as "undisguised sponsoring of terrorism, as well as an act of war" in a letter to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon in June.

TheWrap previously reported the hackers threatened to release private information from the studio if their demands were not met, but those demands were never made clear. They also did not specify a deadline and had not released information before now.

Read the full memo to Sony staffers below:

It is now apparent that a large amount of confidential Sony Pictures Entertainment data has been stolen by the cyber attackers, including personnel information and business documents.  This is the result of a brazen attack on our company, our employees and our business partners.  This theft of Sony materials and the release of employee and other information are malicious criminal acts, and we are working closely with law enforcement.

The privacy and security of our employees are of real concern to us, and we are deeply saddened at this concerted effort to do damage to our company, undermine our morale, and discourage us.  We are enormously proud of the resilience you have all shown in the face of this attack.  The company is as busy as ever, and our business continues to move forward, thanks to your great efforts.

While we are not yet sure of the full scope of information that the attackers have or might release, we unfortunately have to ask you to assume that information about you in the possession of the company might be in their possession.  While we would hope that common decency might prevent disclosure, we of course cannot assume that.

Yesterday, we told you that we are offering all employees identity protection services with a third-party service provider, All Clear ID, and that you would receive an email tomorrow outlining steps to sign up.  If you sign up, the AllClear ID investigators would be available to answer your questions about how to handle disclosures of your confidential information.

We can’t overemphasize our appreciation to all of you for your extraordinary hard work, commitment and resolve.

While many celebrities have spoken out against Billy Cosby in the wake of sexual assault allegations against the comedian, few of Cosby's Hollywood colleagues have publicly defended him.

Whoopi Goldberg and singer Jill Scott are among the few who have stood by Cosby's side.

Jill Scott is a longtime friend of Cosby's. The comedian presented the singer with an honorary degree in 2014 at Temple University, Cosby's alma mater in Philadelphia. On Monday, Cosby resigned as a Trustee of Temple.

Daniel Craig Range Rover Sport

Thieves have managed to make away with a set of five modified Range Rovers Sports that were to appear in the upcoming James Bond film.

According to Wirtshaft Woche, the movie cars along with four other vehicles — including a Range Rover Evoque — were stolen from a parking lot at Jaguar Land Rover's training facility in Neuss, Germany. In total the stolen Range Rovers are valued at an estimated €800,000, or roughly $985,000. Since the October thefts, the movie cars have been replaced and no production delays were reported.

The German publication reports that new European Union regulations that require automakers share vehicle diagnostic data may have contributed to the Range Rover thefts. The article claims that the availability of such information may make the vehicles more susceptible to outside hacking.

Daniel Craig Range RoverAccording to Spiegel, the Range Rovers were awaiting transport to the Alps, where we assume they will take part in stunts. The thieves in this case may come to regret their decision. Multiple publications report that the movie cars were modified for specific stunt purposes, with features such as easy-shatter front windshields and collapsible front suspensions

"Bond 24," as the film is currently being called, is set to start filming later this month.  The film's cast and official title will be revealed in a ceremony next week.

With or without the Ranger Rovers, we can't wait to see this movie!

Chris Rock Slams Hollywood's Race Problem In Brutally Honest New Essay

$

chris rock hollywood reporter

Chris Rock wrote a lengthy cover story for the newest issue of the Hollywood Reporter, explaining his experience as a black man in Hollywood, which he calls "a white industry."

Rock, whose new movie "Top Five" hits theaters next week, says of the entertainment industry:

It's a white industry. Just as the NBA is a black industry. I'm not even saying it's a bad thing. It just is. And the black people they do hire tend to be the same person. That person tends to be female and that person tends to be Ivy League. And there's nothing wrong with that. As a matter of fact, that's what I want for my daughters. But something tells me that the life my privileged daughters are leading right now might not make them the best candidates to run the black division of anything. And the person who runs the black division of a studio should probably have worked with black people at some point in their life. Clint Culpepper [a white studio chief who specializes in black movies] does a good job at Screen Gems because he's the kind of guy who would actually go see Best Man Holiday. But how many black men have you met working in Hollywood? They don't really hire black men. A black man with bass in his voice and maybe a little hint of facial hair? Not going to happen. It is what it is. I'm a guy who's accepted it all...

It's the most liberal town in the world, and there's a part of it that's kind of racist — not racist like "F— you, n-----" racist, but just an acceptance that there's a slave state in L.A. There's this acceptance that Mexicans are going to take care of white people in L.A. that doesn't exist anywhere else ... You're telling me no Mexicans are qualified to do anything at a studio? Really? Nothing but mop up?

Rock takes particular issue with how few black women are considered for roles in TV and film projects, citing the barrage of "True Detective" season 2 casting rumors as an example:

How about True Detective? I never heard anyone go, "Is it going to be Amy Adams or Gabrielle Union?" for that show. I didn't hear one black girl's name on those lists. Not one. Literally everyone in town was up for that part, unless you were black. And I haven't read the script, but something tells me if Gabrielle Union were Colin Farrell's wife, it wouldn't change a thing. And there are almost no black women in film. You can go to whole movies and not see one black woman. They'll throw a black guy a bone. OK, here's a black guy. But is there a single black woman in Interstellar? Or Gone GirlBirdmanThe PurgeNeighbors? I'm not sure there are. I don't remember them. I go to the movies almost every week, and I can go a month and not see a black woman having an actual speaking part in a movie. That's the truth.

Last month, Rock also addressed the difference between white and black fame on "CBS This Morning."

At the time, the comedian explained: "Being famous as a black guy is a little different than being famous as a white guy. Tom Hanks is an amazing actor, but Denzel Washington is a god to his people. Denzel Washington has a responsibility to his people that Tom Cruise, Liam Neeson, all these guys don’t have."

Rock has been especially vocal lately in anticipation of the release of "Top Five," telling his thoughts on the Cosby scandal to Vulture earlier this week, and reviewing Obama's performance as president.

Sony Will Reportedly Name North Korea Responsible For Major Hack

Sony was the victim of a massive hack this week, and it looks like the company is finally ready to reveal who was responsible for the cyber attack.

Sony will reportedly name North Korea responsible for the hack that resulted in the leaking of confidential information including five films and a detailed list of salaries, according to Recode.

In the wake of the hack, Sony Pictures employees were unable to use their computers and even resorted to using pen and paper.

Sony has been working with security firm Mandiant as well as the FBI to investigate the source of the hack, and Recode reports the announcement naming North Korea responsible "could come as soon as today."

While the exact reason behind the hack still isn't clear, it could likely be connected to one of Sony Picture's latest motion pictures, a film called "The Interview," which stars Seth Rogen and James Franco as reporters who are recruited by the CIA to assassinate the North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

North Korea has publically called the upcoming movie an "undisguised sponsoring of terrorism, as well as an act of war."

However, Sony gave a statement to Financial Times reporter Matthew Garrahan that says Re/code's report isn't accurate.

On the other hand, it's common for companies to release statements like this if even a small part of a report is incorrect. There's still a strong chance the Re/code story is correct and Sony will announce North Korea's involvement in the leak.

Reuters also backs up Re/code's story, reporting that the hack was performed using similar tactics North Korea has used against South Korea in the past.

9 Crazy Details About The Unprecedented Sony Hack

The size and scope of the recent hack of Sony Pictures is unprecedented for a major US company.

Hackers shut down Sony's systems and then released an estimated 11 terabytes of data.

Stolen information was sent to reporters and is available to download online.

It's not clear who is responsible for the attack.

Here are some of the most eye-opening things we've learned so far:

• Sony thinks it was North Korea, Re/code reports. The new Seth Rogen and James Franco film "The Interview," a comedy about two men sent on a mission to assassinate North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un, is believed to be why the hack took place, since North Korea previously sought Sony to stop the release of that film. Rogen had no comment when asked about the incident by Business Insider.

Re/code reported last week that Sony is investigating whether hackers operating on behalf of North Korea were behind the attack. North Korean officials previously stated their opposition to the movie.

• Experts say the hack is "the first major attack on a US company to use a highly destructive class of malicious software that is designed to make computer networks unable to operate," Reuters reports.

• Employees had to forgo their electronics entirely and do their work using pen, paper, and fax machines after the hack, according to The Los Angeles Times.

• Salary information for employees was among the information released in the hack. People noticed that Hannah Minghella, who serves as co-president of production at Sony's Columbia Pictures division, makes $800,000 less per year than her male counterpart, Columbia Pictures co-president of production Michael De Luca. The hackers also released "detailed salary information for more than 30,000 employees of Deloitte, the New York-based auditing and professional services firm," Fusion reports.

• The hack didn't just encompass corporate information either — employee documents containing passwords, credit-card numbers, medical histories, and, in one case, a woman's breastfeeding diet were also stolen.

• A spreadsheet with a list of fired and laid-off employees was also included in the hack, according to Fusion. The sheet listed the reason for termination and the cost to terminate the employees.

• Movies that have not been released in theaters yet were leaked, including the "Annie" remake, which Sony is counting on to be a big holiday blockbuster. The other movies leaked so far are "Fury," "Still Alice," "Mr. Turner," and "To Write Love On Her Arms."

• A script from the creator of "Breaking Bad" for a pilot show was also leaked.

Disciplinary files detail the romantic relationship one manager had with a subordinate, according to BuzzFeed. This includes the business-travel history of the manager and employee.

Sony Pictures Entertainment is one of Hollywood's biggest studios.

The hackers say they haven't yet released all of the documents and information they stole from Sony, claiming more is coming soon.

One upcoming movie that hasn't leaked online is arguably Sony's biggest, controversial "The Interview" in which Seth Rogen and James Franco play journalists recruited by the CIA to assassinate Kim Jong-Un during a trip to North Korea to interview the country's leader.

The country has made it clear it is not happy with the film, asking for a ban of the upcoming movie in a letter to the United Nations.

"To allow the production and distribution of such a film on the assassination of an incumbent head of a sovereign state should be regarded as the most undisguised sponsoring of terrorism as well as an act of war," wrote North Korea's U.N. Ambassador Ja Song Nam.

NBC News reports that several U.S. law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, are looking into a possible connection between the hacking and North Korea.

When reached for comment by the BBC, a North Korean government spokesman didn't deny involvement saying, "Wait and see."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, an ex Sony employee or current employee may be responsible.
