Mark Cuban is starring in the third installment of the ridiculous TV movie 'Sharknado'

mark cuban sharknado

Billionaire investor Mark Cuban has been cast to play the role of US President in "Sharknado 3," the third installment of "Sharknado," a movie centered around a fatal natural disaster combining deadly tornadoes and flying sharks.

The "Shark Tank" judge, investor, and outspoken critic of net neutrality will be joined by conservative pundit Ann Coulter, who has been cast for the role of Vice President, Variety reports. According to Variety, other celebrities who will have cameos in the third "Sharknado" movie include Jerry Springer and Bo Derek.

If you're unfamiliar, a Sharknado is a bizarre weather phenomenon that combines the deadly force of a tornado with a massive amount of killer sharks. The sharks are pulled from the ocean by the tornadoes and fly through the air, then fall on and eat people.

The quirky made-for-TV movie series thrives from its social media buzz. In July, "Sharknado 2" generated 581,000 Sharknado-related tweets from 188,000 users and had 3.9 million viewers, becoming SyFy's most-watched original movie. The year before, "Sharknado" generated 318,000 tweets from 112,000 users.

Cuban is not the first of the sharks from reality TV series "Shark Tank" to be in a "Sharknado" movie. Last summer Daymond Johns was an extra in "Sharknado 2."

We reached out to Mark Cuban via his secure, ephemeral messaging app CyberDust.

Here is what he told us: "I love acting! Don't forget Entourage movie this summer!" Cuban is, of course, referring to the upcoming release of the movie based on the TV series of the same name, in which Cuban has made appearances. He's also had roles in "Walker, Texas Ranger" and the FX comedy series "The League."

The first Sharknado movie took place in Los Angeles and the sequel was based in New York, but the third installment will be in "Washington, D.C., and down the Eastern Seaboard into Florida," according to Variety. The movie is set to air in July.

Here's what Kim Kardashian loves most about selfies

Kim Kardashian pretty much coined the term "Selfie."

With 27.2 million Instagram followers and 29.6 million Twitter followers, people are clearly interested in seeing Kim's countless selfies.

Kim Kardashian instagramIn April, she will even release her book, "Selfish" — 352 pages of her selfies.

While even Kim herself admits that her selfie addiction is "ridiculous," she defends the photos in Adweek's latest cover story:

I can look at a photo on social media and see a picture and know exactly where I was by the outfit I had on or who I was with. I take it more as a fun, emotional scrapbook that I love to look back on.

Kardashian continued:

Kim Kardashian hair and makeup

You have to have a sense of humor every once in a while. So many people think that taking so many selfies is just ridiculous. For me, what's so funny is I love taking pictures and posting them on social media for memories. I genuinely love the glam of life and hair and makeup and all of that, so I love just sharing my life with people—that's who I've been. I live my life on a reality show. But sometimes people take it very seriously, or they think it's ridiculous. I'm kind of letting them know, yes, it is ridiculous, but it's all fun.

As for her new book "Selfish," completely comprised of selfies, Kardashian says the project was just a natural next step for something she has been doing for decades.

[I took] my first selfie in 1984, and that opens up the book. For a decade, I've carried a big digital camera, and I think it's just fascinating to see the process of what types of photos evolve. Mine started off on digital cameras, then they went to a BlackBerry and then a smartphone. There's just such an evolution of the selfie. And I captured that, I think, really well.

But will the 34-year-old mother and wife of Kanye West ever choose to keep her private life private?

Kim Kardashian Kanye West"You never know," she tells Adweek. "I love sharing my world with people, so I don't see me just having a freak-out and just stopping. Will I do it forever? I'm not sure. But I love the whole idea of it, especially because you get to share things your way. You get to tell your own story through your eyes."

Or through professionally-altered eyes.

Last week, an OK! magazine story claimed Kim Kardashian is spending $100,000 to keep a professional photo retoucher on call to perfect the selfies she posts to Instagram.

The Kardashians have long defended themselves against rumors that they alter all of their photos, but the source told OK! magazine: "Kim used to ask a friend to fix up photos, but it would take hours. She finally decided to hire a pro who can be on call 24/7."

Early last year, Kim made headlines after Twitter and Instagram users noticed some flubs in an uploaded photo that made it pretty clear the pic had been altered.

You'll never guess what Neil deGrasse Tyson's favorite equation of Einstein's is

Albert Einstein had a knack for unlocking the secrets of the universe and as an astrophysicist, Neil deGrasse Tyson is undoubtedly familiar with the most complex, bizarre, and illuminating of Einstein's equations. But one equation stands out above the rest for the famed director of the Hayden Planetarium and host of the wildly popular television series "Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey."

"My favorite equation of Einstein's is when he derived the stimulated emission of radiation," deGrasse Tyson said during the annual Isaac Asimov Memorial Debate in 2012. "We study that in astrophysics and that's the equation that enables the construction of lasers."

Each year, the American Museum of Natural History — in memory of American author Isaac Asimov — brings together some of the world's greatest minds, which in 2012 included Nobel laureate Sheldon Glashow, to discuss a complex scientific topic.

During the Isaac Asimov Memorial Debate in 2012, which discussed whether certain particles can travel faster than light, the esteemed guests addressed some of Einstein's most fundamental equations including the Special and General Theories of Relativity.

Since they were on the topic of equations, deGrasse Tyson shared his favorite equation of Einstein's — an equation that today supports a multi-billion dollar industry involving barcode scanners, laser eye surgery, and DVD electronics.

The word "laser" began as an acronym for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation. Stimulated emission is a special way in which atoms can make identical particles of light that Einstein first predicted in 1917. But it wasn't until the the late '50s when physicists actually built the first lasers.

Below is a schematic of how stimulated emission works. It starts when a particle of light called a photon interacts with an excited electron (the green dot). As a result of this interaction, the electron loses energy, shown in the middle portion of this diagram, and in-so-doing the electron emits another photon identical to the first photon:

stimulated emission

DeGrasse Tyson uses this example during the debate to emphasize the importance of "basic research" that might not necessarily have any immediate application but could set the stage for future, fundamental technology.

Stephen Colbert makes a shockingly vicious appearance on 'House Of Cards'

house of cards stephen colbertIn the season 3 premiere of "House of Cards," Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey) goes on a version of "The Colbert Report" with a dark twist.

The former Comedy Central host is subtly more vicious than he ever was on the show, mocking the fictional president with a uncharacteristic and shocking lack of deference. It's one of many provocative mixings of fantasy and reality that make the Netflix show so much fun.

As you can see in this transcript, it starts off mildly:

Colbert: I understand you've got a new piece of legislation, a major new new initiative you're rolling out. What is it?

Underwood: That is correct. It's a new jobs program that we're calling America Works.

Colbert: Oh. So it's a fantasy novel. [Audience laughs.]

 stephen colbert house of cards

Colbert gets harsh.

Underwood: This is a fundamentally different look at how to solve the problem of unemployment. It has the size and the scope of the New Deal.

Colbert: Oh. So it's a socialist redistribution of wealth wherein the baby boomers will latch onto the millennials like a lamprey and just keep sucking until they're as dry as a crouton? [Audience laughs, applauds.]

Underwood: This is about putting people to work and avoiding the entitlements entirely.

Colbert: Well, I like the sound of that. So what, we're gonna privatize Social Security and then raise revenue by hunting the elderly for sport? [Audience laughs.] Good plan. Use that.

Underwood: No, as I said, this is a fundamentally different approach entirely.

Colbert: And you think that the Republicans in Congress will cooperate with you?

Underwood: Oh, I think that it has been proved that both parties want the same thing.

Colbert: A new president in 2016? [Audience laughs.]

stephen colbert House of CardsColbert gets personal.

Underwood: No. No, I think actually, I think unemployment, eradicating it, and I think a strong economy is something both parties want.

Colbert: Okay, speaking of everyone, there's a recent poll by Reuters. I wanna get this right. It says that eight out of ten Americans agree that you lack, quote, "effectiveness and leadership."

Underwood: Look, I don't let polls like that bother me. I think that once the nation sees AmWorks in action, they will change their attitudes.

Colbert: I'm sorry, "AmWorks?" I'm sorry-- I didn't realize it was called AmWorks. Is that like Amway? Is it a pyramid scheme? Is that what you're selling the American people?

Underwood: No, it's actually just an abbreviation to make it easier to say.

Colbert: Well, if you make it small enough, uh, maybe it'll be easier to swallow. [Audience laughs, groans.] You know, even though you're a Democrat, I respect you. But let's just take a look at the facts here for a second. You've been president for six months, and again, I wanna get this right, unemployment has gone up, our trade deficit with China has increased, the number of vetoes has skyrocketed. I'm not entirely sure that I'm confident that you'll be able to eradicate unemployment the same way you've been able to eradicate your approval polls. [Audience laughs.]

stephen colbert House of cardsThe scene isn't over-the-top but it's also a meaner Colbert than we've ever seen (Amazon's "Alpha House" had its own version of a politician's disastrous appearance on Colbert).

WWE Jon Stewart 2

Outgoing "Daily Show" host Jon Stewart made a hilarious appearance on WWE's "Monday Night Raw" which aired live on the USA Network. For the last few weeks, Stewart has been embroiled in a "feud" with WWE Superstar Seth Rollins after the wrestler said that he could do a better job of hosting "The Daily Show" than Stewart.

Stewart, a New Jersey-native who has attended previous WWE events, confirmed he would be in the house for Monday's broadcast of "Raw" at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ. The segment began with Rollins hosting a faux version of "The Daily Show" where he roasted Stewart with a series of insulting jokes; one of which referenced the underwhelming box office performance of Stewart's directorial debut "Rosewater."

Stewart had apparently heard enough and made his entrance to the ring, where he delivered his own series of verbal jabs at Rollins. Then things got physical.

5 ways to fix Will Smith's box-office slump

$

margot robbie will smith focus

Two years after the colossal failure of the sci-fi thriller "After Earth," Will Smith returned to theaters this past weekend with the flashy con-artist love story "Focus," and though it was No. 1 at the box office, with an opening of $19.1 million, it was one of the lowest opening weekends ever for Smith.

Smith is certainly at a crossroads professionally.

Even before "After Earth," films like "Hancock" and "I, Robot" (before overseas sales raised their grosses) showed that if he didn't change things, the star who once owned July 4 weekend with "Independence Day"and "Men In Black" was setting himself up for a fall.

Though "Focus" proves Smith still has the charisma and eye for good scripts to be a viable draw, he isn't out of the woods just yet.

Here are five ways he can get out of this slump.

1. Do less sci-fi

after earth will smith

Yes, Smith became a megastar fighting evil aliens in "Independence Day" and "Men in Black" and by performing incredible feats in front of green screens, but at 46 it is time for him to pull back. Nothing is worse than watching an old action hero, and though Smith keeps himself in great shape, "Focus" shows he can still grab our attention without leaving the stratosphere.

2. Find a big-name director to team with

christopher nolan interstellar

Smith has worked with some big-name directors (Michael Bay, Barry Sonnenfeld, Tony Scott, Michael Mann), but what would completely floor everyone is if Smith teamed with a director as iconic as Steven Spielberg, Christopher Nolan, or Oliver Stone. For Smith, the best thing might be to pause from developing projects and give himself over to an auteur who can get him out of his comfort zone and just act.

3. Comedy is your friend

hitch will smith

If you scroll through Smith’s all-time top-grossing films, you will see that his highest-grossing comedy is 2005's "Hitch." Outside of "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air," it is Smith's best comedic work, but it is now 10 years old. One of the reasons Smith is a huge movie star is that regardless of the seriousness of the story, he can always throw in a joke and it will work. "Focus" gives us a bit of that Big Willie charm, but what he might need right now is to do a strong comedy.

4. Don't be scared of the supporting role

deadshot will smith

Yes, it sounds insane, but Smith can benefit from being in a great movie and not have top billing. In fact, he is doing just that with his decision to take on the role of Deadshot in the adaptation of next summer's "Suicide Squad." Playing in an ensemble will not only get Smith into the comic book game without having the pressure of launching a stand-alone character on his own, but it (and doing it better than being a spiritual golf caddie as he did in "The Legend of Bagger Vance") would build the excitement when he does show up on screen.

5. More dramas

will smith gambling focus

This has always been Smith's Achilles' heel. Though he hit the mark with "Ali," movies like "Seven Pounds" and "The Pursuit of Happyness" got him gun shy in taking dramatic chances. But he has only gotten better since then. There are scenes in "Focus" that showcase his growth and show that he has a strength playing serious and conflicted. The best example is a Super Bowl sequence in which *spoiler* Smith's character plays all of us as we watch his grift on a wealthy business tycoon by playing up a supposed gambling addiction. *spoiler* This may be the time for Smith to go after that Oscar again.

BOEHNER: Netanyahu's Iran speech would only be topped by a Taylor Swift-Katy Perry-shark-llama-dress concert at Madison Square Garden

House Speaker John Boehner's (R-Ohio) office went to absurd lengths to describe the popularity of the Israeli prime minister's speech Tuesday.

In a statement issued to The New York Times, Boehner spokesman Michael Steel said:

"If Taylor Swift and Katy Perry did a joint concert at Madison Square Garden wearing white-and-gold and black-and-blue dresses, accompanied by dancing sharks and llamas, that’s the only way you’d have a tougher ticket."

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is set to give a speech Tuesday morning that will likely criticize the White House's negotiations with Iran over its nuclear program. In a controversial move, Boehner invited Netanyahu without first informing President Barack Obama.

According to The Times, the contentious nature of the speech and Washington's annual American Israel Public Affairs Committee policy conference made Netanyahu tickets one of the hottest commodities in town.

"The tickets are hotter than fresh latkes," quipped Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-New York).

Kim Kardashian reveals the 'accidental' reason why her mobile game is such a huge success

Kim Kardashian

When Kim Kardashian released her mobile game, Kim Kardashian: Hollywood, in June, people went nuts for the wildly addictive game.

The choose-your-own-adventure-style game  which allows users to go on photo shoots, dates, and rub elbows with Hollywood elite in order to climb the ranks and become an A-list celebrity — has 28 million downloads and 11 billion minutes of play since it launched last summer. It is also on track to rake in over $200 million.

Kim Kardashian Hollywood appIn a new Adweek cover story, Kim, who says she came up with the "cute concept" of the game, reveals the "accidental" reason she believes the app blew up:

Something that really worked in the game that was kind of an accident are the updates. [For example], your character can go on vacation to Mexico, and that's one of the places that I go all the time.

I actually didn't know the date of the launch, but I happened to be going to Mexico on the same day. Once I started posting pictures through Instagram that I was in Mexico, everyone was playing along [and saying], "I just updated my game, and I'm in Mexico with you." They would literally get a bikini like the one I had Instagrammed in a photo.

Kim Kardashian InstagramBut, says Kardashian, that wasn't part of the original plan.

People thought we were doing that on purpose and that it was planned, and it wasn't. We realized that it worked so well because we are in such good communication—myself and the Glu team—to make updates in real time. I try to tell them as far in advance of when I know I have a trip planned, and we try to get as many lifelike things that I'm actually doing to really happen in the game so you can play along with my real life.

Despite what many may believe, Kardashian is very involved with every aspect of the app, especially making sure it relates to her real life.

We try to mirror it as much as possible. The look of the game was really important to me. I must have pulled thousands of references of all the different ways that characters should have their hair, the outfits and the shoes. One time there was a strap wrong on one of the character's shoes—her feet weren't matching. I had to change the programming to fix that. It was important to me that everything is right.

kim kardashian hollywood gameWith the quick life cycles of games, Kardashian already has a plan in place to make sure hers stays relevant.

I think that adding my family members [as characters] and a bunch of cameos will get people excited. I started with adding my mom and now my sisters [last year]. Even my pets that I've had either now or in the past are in it. I want to make it as lifelike as possible.

kim kardashian hollywood"[The developers and I] talk daily," Kardashian tells Adweek of her commitment to the app. "We have these open emails and chats. If I have an idea, I send it to them. I [also] go down to [their home base] San Francisco every other month and meet with the whole team."

Still, she says, "I don't know if I expected it to do this well."

"I'm really thankful that it has because I've put a lot of hard work into it and spent a lot of time on it," adds Kardashian. "It's how I think of my show—someone can always relate. People always want to get their mind off of things and have something fun to do because their lives are so hectic. It's a fun game that you can really get addicted to and just lose yourself in for a couple of hours."

FEMA is not happy with the new season of 'House of Cards'

house of cards frank underwood season 3

Warning: If you haven't seen the new season of "House of Cards," there are some spoilers ahead.

The new season of the hit political drama "House of Cards" was released on Netflix this past weekend, and it's already sparking controversy.

For the most part, the show has received rave reviews — it's received an 88% approval rating on Rotton Tomatoes, and has been praised for attempting to humanize entirely unrelatable characters.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), however, is not pleased with the series' protagonist, Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey).

The series follows the ruthless Democrat Underwood and his wife Claire along their journey to dominate D.C. politics. Now, as President, and arguably the most powerful man in the world, Underwood is one step closer to his goal — but he's facing serious opposition from a Republican congress bent on preventing him from moving his political agenda forward.

His agenda is defined by one key program — America Works, or AmWorks for short — which he sells to party leaders as the "New Deal" of this generation. They're not buying it, however, mostly because of its $9 billion price tag.

Conniving and manipulative, Underwood always gets his way. Fed up with Congressional gridlock, he decides to bypass lawmakers entirely and take the needed funds from FEMA. How? He gets the mayor of Washington, D.C. to declare an unemployment "state of emergency."

As FEMA points out, the organization isn't happy with Underwood's manipulation of the term "emergency" to further his own political interests. The fictional director of FEMA isn’t enthused either. He advises Underwood that those funds are reserved for emergencies like hurricanes and floods that require immediate government resources.

While the tweet is likely just poking fun at the show, it could also serve as a warning to any President who plans to emulate Underwood's scheme: don't take our money, and we'll get along just fine.

Teens love YouTube because it makes them feel good about themselves, a new survey says

YouTube stars are becoming increasingly powerful.

They're landing big TV contracts, writing books, and buying million-dollar mansions, all while amassing fan bases numbering in the millions.

A new survey from digital content company Defy Media digs deeper into why digital media stars have captured the hearts of young people.

In a multi-part study that involved in-depth interviews and social media surveys, Defy Media found 62% of Americans ages 13-24 like digital media just because it makes them feel good.

"One of the reasons that people are going to digital platforms rather than TV is that they just like the content a lot more," Andy Tu, EVP of marketing at Defy Media, told Business Insider. "It's easier to relate to, and it makes them feel better about themselves."

Many young millennials (those in the 13-17 age group) said they admire YouTube stars even more than they do traditional Hollywood celebrities. Tu said the feeling comes, in part, from the idea that YouTube fame is relatively attainable.

"We had someone tell us, 'I like Nicki Minaj, but I can't relate to Nicki Minaj. All she talks about is making money.'" Tu said. "For YouTube, there seems to be this respect for them being who they are. When we asked them if they thought they could become famous on YouTube, a lot said yes."

Defy polled 1,350 people ages 13-24 — who were evenly distributed in terms of ethnicity, race, income, and education — and interviewed 36 people who answered questions in pairs.

For the interview portion, each person was asked to bring in the person they interact with on social media the most, usually a close friend.

"With the buddy pair, you get much stronger responses," Tu said. "They play off each other, call each other’s bluffs."

Before the interview process even began, the surveyors observed each of the young people on social media, following them on YouTube, Instagram, Vine, Facebook, Snapchat, and Pinterest, in order to track their viewing habits.

Defy Media found that young people are watching 11.3 hours of free online video — YouTube, Vine — and 10.8 hours of subscription video — Netflix, Hulu Plus — each week. They spend 6.4 hours weekly watching free online offerings from cable networks, and 8.3 hours watching regularly scheduled TV.

Bethany Mota 38408

The Defy study also found that young people look to social media stars for recommendations in many aspects of their lives.

63% of all respondents said they would try out a product or brand that a YouTube star had recommended. Only 48% said the same for TV and movie stars.

The young people surveyed seemed to feel a closeness with the YouTube personalities, at a level they hadn't felt before with Hollywood actors.

"A lot of people pointed out that [YouTube stars] didn't skip any days. They were posting videos on Christmas, on other holidays, every day of the year," Tu said. "They had this bond or relationship with these YouTubers, almost like they were someone they already knew in their regular life."

Defy shared this video of clips from their interviews.

Jimmy Kimmel swiftly shut down the entire anti-vaccination community

Jimmy Kimmel spent much of his show last week addressing anti-vaxxers, encouraging his massive audience to take vaccinating their kids seriously and cracking jokes about how if you think you know more than doctors, you're not allowed to visit medical professionals anymore.

When the anti-vaxxers lashed out in response, Kimmel took the opportunity to address them again — this time, in a monologue that absolutely shuts them down.

"You probably aren't going to take medical advice from a talk-show host," Kimmel said on his show Friday, "but I do expect you to take it from ... almost every doctor in the world. The thing about doctors is that they didn't learn about the human body from their friends' Facebook pages."

His monologue was met with roaring laughter and applause, and followed up with a video made up of real doctors explaining why they believe in vaccinations.

"There is no reason not to vaccinate your kids," one doctor said, "which is why I can't f---ing believe we have to make this PSA."

The anti-vaxxer tweets started rolling in.

Jimmy KimmelJimmy KimmelJimmy KimmelJimmy Kimmel

Kimmel addressed these tweets and more on his show Monday, sending his "community activists" out to the street to protest that it should be "a child's right to choose" whether to be vaccinated.

As you can expect, the results of the public mockery were pretty hilarious.

Kimmel capped off the proclamation with a bang: "I am not presenting both sides of the [anti-vaccination] argument just like I wouldn't present the argument that pancakes make you gay. They don't."

Benjamin Netanyahu just compared the Middle East to 'Game of Thrones'

AP410033752031

Israeli Prime Minsiter Benjamin Netanyahu referenced the hit HBO series "Game of Thrones" during his big speech before Congress on Tuesday.

Netanyahu brought up the show while arguing there is little ideological difference between the Iranian government and the jihadist group Islamic State (also known as ISIS) in the Middle East.

"One calls itself the Islamic Republic; the other calls itself the Islamic State. Both want to impose a militant Islamic empire, first on the region and then on the entire world," Netanyahu said. "They just disagree among themselves who will be the ruler of that empire. In this deadly 'Game of Thrones, there's no place for America or for Israel. No peace for Christians, Jews, or Muslims who don't share the Islamist medieval creed."

Netanyahu also said both Iran and the Islamic State are competing for the same "crown" of violent Islamic ideology.

"The ideology of Iran's revolutionary regime is deeply rooted in militant Islam. And that's why this regime will always be an enemy of America," he said. "But don't be fooled, the battle between Iran and ISIS doesn't turn Iran into a friend of America. Iran and ISIS are competing for the crown of militant Islam."

Netanyahu claimed there is one big difference between the Islamic State and Iran, however: the Iranian government is trying to obtain a nuclear weapon while the Islamic State doesn't have the capability to do so. His speech was largely focused on criticizing the current US negotiations with Iran as not doing enough to prevent the country from obtaining a nuclear weapon.

"Iran could soon be armed with intercontinental ballistic missiles and nuclear bombs," he said. The greatest danger facing our world is the marriage of militant Islam with nuclear weapons. To defeat ISIS and Iran get nuclear weapons would be to win the battle but lose the war. We can't let that happen!"

Robert Downey Jr. doesn't just star in HTC's latest TV ad — he wrote the script

Robert Downey Jr.

HTC has gone for a more emotional than usual approach with the TV ad for its latest flagship smartphone, the One M9 (you can watch it in full below.)

It is narrated by long-term brand ambassador Robert Downey Jr. The script aims to remind the viewer that we're "all one."

But Downey Jr. doesn't just read the script. He helped write it.

Idris Mootee, HTC's recently appointed chief marketing officer, spoke with Business Insider at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona about how the ad came about.

He told us: "I called him up and I said I want you to be our storyteller. He said 'OK, I'll do that.' And he helped write [some of the script.] I changed it, he changed it, [his wife] Susan Downey changed it. It went back and forth like this."

Then it came to recording the voiceover. Mootee admits some of his colleagues were a little nervous about the idea: HTC has a huge contract with Robert Downey Jr. and the new marketing boss didn't even want him on screen in the ad. But Mootee said eschewing the Hollywood actor and instead featuring emotive connections between lots of (unknown) people was the best way to tell HTC's brand story.

Mootee continued: "It took just one day in the studio. Afterward he called Susan and said 'it's beautiful, like a poem'. It only took three takes, 15 minutes, he loved it so much [and thinks] this is the best way to tell our story. He really believed in that and represents us."

Robert Downey Jr.: From Iron Man to Mad Man.

Here's the TV ad, which was unveiled at the HTC One M9 launch event in Barcelona on Sunday. The ad starts at around 0:05.

"Whiplash," the story of a young jazz drummer with an aggressive instructor at a cut-throat music conservatory, took home three Oscars last month.

In addition to winning best achievement in sound mixing and achievement in film editing, J.K. Simmons walked away with best performance by an actor in a supporting role for his portrayal of a hot-headed jazz teacher.

But Simmons may have had an unfair advantage, it wasn't his first time playing the role.

"Whiplash" actually started as an 18-minute short film by Director Damien Chazelle, who also directed the full-length version. The short initially premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2013, where it won the jury award for best short film.

In the first film, Johnny Simmons (known for playing Young Neil in 2010's "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World") originated the role that Miles Teller later earned critical praise for in the full-length feature. J.K. Simmons plays overzealous music teacher, Fletcher, in both films.

Here's what's happening in the NBC News shake-up

Brian Williams

Ever since NBC News anchor Brian Williams was suspended for embellishing war stories, everyone has been watching NBC News to see what other changes might follow.

Specifically, people have wondered whether there might be a leadership shake-up.

Now we have our answer.

(Yes.)

As Cynthia Littleton of Variety reported this morning, NBC News is in talks with Andrew Lack, a former CBS and Bloomberg Television executive, to join the company as chairman of the NBC News group. Lack would replace Patricia Fili-Krushel, the current chairman of the news group, who would be given another job within the company.

If Lack does take over NBC News, the fate of Deborah Turness, the president of NBC News and a second executive in the crosshairs since the Brian Williams imbroglio, would be in Lack's hands.

The agreement with Lack has not yet been consummated, sources say. One source estimates that an agreement might be reached within days. Another believes the deal is likely to get done.

So what happened?

andrew lackAccording to a source familiar with the situation, after Brian Williams' departure, Fili-Krushel and her boss, the CEO of NBC Universal, Stephen B. Burke, agreed that the news division needed an experienced, well-respected journalist to step in and calm the frustration and division within the newsroom.

Fili-Krushel does not have a deep journalism background, and much of the criticism and second-guessing in recent weeks has focused on this. It's not clear who initiated the decision, but Fili-Krushel, who is said to be one of Steve Burke's closest advisers, agreed with the logic of the move and agreed to step aside.

As the president of NBC News, Turness will report to Lack. Turness joined NBC News in 2013 and has had a controversial tenure at the top. If and when Lack takes over the helm of the NBC News group, Lack will presumably make a decision about her future.

30th woman to accuse Bill Cosby of rape says he made her pretend to be a queen who had oatmeal on her face

Bill Cosby confused

Another woman is accusing Bill Cosby of sexual assault, making her the thirtieth woman to publicly come forward.

Patricia, whose last name is being withheld to protect her privacy, spoke to Buzzfeed exclusively to share her story.

Buzzfeed's Katie JM Baker reports:

When Bill Cosby invited 22-year-old Patricia to a dinner party at his family home in Shelburne Falls, Massachusetts, in 1978, she assumed she would be dining with his wife as well. Instead, Cosby was the only other guest. He led Patricia to two place settings on a coffee table next to his fireplace.

...

She accepted the drink Cosby mixed her, along with his bizarre acting improvisation directions: Cosby wanted Patricia to pretend to be an elegant queen with oatmeal dripping all over her face.

“It was so creepy,” Patricia told Buzzfeed.“He told me to convince him that I could remain regal and queenlike no matter what I looked like. I would leave the room and walk back in, pretending to be a queen with oatmeal on her face, and he would tell me I was doing it wrong and to go back and try again. Then, I started to feel weird from the drink. And then I don’t remember much.”

Patricia, who was one of the 12 Jane Does listed in Andrea Constand's 2005 five-count lawsuit against Cosby, said she felt ashamed and responsible for what had happened.  She is the seventh Jane Doe to come forward.

Accusations against Bill Cosby began to ramp up in the fall of 2014 after comedian Hannibal Buress shamed Cosby publicly in a video that soon went viral. Since then, dozens of women have stepped forward to accuse Cosby of rape and sexual assault.

The Cosby team vehemently denies all allegations.

CHICAGO (AP) — Oprah Winfrey will close Harpo Studios in Chicago, where she filmed "The Oprah Winfrey Show" for more than 20 years, this December, and will transition production for her cable network to a studio in California.

Harpo Studios and the Oprah Winfrey Network made the announcement Tuesday. OWN recently moved into a new studio in West Hollywood, California, and work currently done at Harpo Studios in Chicago will now be done there.

Winfrey sold the Harpo Studios property in Chicago's West Loop neighborhood to a developer last year for about $32 million. She said in a statement Tuesday that Harpo Studios has been a "blessing" in her life and she's now "looking ahead" to inhabiting her California studio.

The city named the street outside Harpo Studios "Oprah Winfrey Way" in 2011.

The woman who runs the SI swimsuit issue started as an assistant who spent 8 hours a day organizing bikinis

mj day si swimsuit 2014

MJ Day, the editor of Sports Illustrated's swimsuit issue, has been working for the magazine for her whole career.

After graduating college in 1997, she was an intern for InStyle, a fellow Time Inc. publication, before taking a low-level job as an editorial assistant on the SI swimsuit issue a year later. Part of that first job was sorting through the estimated 30,000 bikinis that are submitted for the issue and sending them back to designers.

"I sat in a closet and matched bikinis for eight hours a day and returned them to designers," she told BI about her first job. "I did every part of this job from the ground floor up."

More than a decade later, after holding positions at every level of the magazine, Day now runs things.

"That’s some of the beauty of being here as long as I’ve been here. I’m very familiar with the product," she said. "I’ve been able to sit and observe and form my own opinions about what’s working, what’s not working, what could work better, how we could expand and grow."

"It was sort of a very long case study."

There are four SI staffers who work exclusively on the Swimsuit Issue, and Day is the highest ranking. She travels all over the world for photoshoots, including places like Antarctica and Madagascar, where she found herself on an island with no electricity alongside model Irina Shayk for the 2015 issue.

Her Instagram account (warning: borderline NSFW), is full of incredible photos from exotic locations:

She's also in charge of overseeing a 51-year-old brand in a rapidly changing industry.

Since taking her current position in 2014, her plan has been to expand the brand beyond its once-a-year publishing schedule. Two years ago the company launched Swim Daily, a website that promotes the issue with additional content all year long. This year the Travel Channel aired a five-part "making of" documentary about the magazine.

mj day kate upton 2013"We nailed the print. We know how to do that. We know how to do that wonderfully," she said. "We take so much video footage and use it in so many different ways. But I think we can do it bigger and better."

All of this, Day says, is part of a larger effort to humanize the models who most people only know through the print product, and diversify their careers. The idea is to use additional content, like Swim Daily videos and social media, to promote these women as well-rounded people.

"I love proving to people that they’re more than just a pretty face," Day said. "You see somebody like a Chrissy Teigen who is so utterly hysterical and captivating and brilliant and has her hands in a thousand different things. If you only see her in print, you’re missing out on so much of her that’s not just the visual image."

"It only makes our magazine stronger to develop these women into more than just a model."

Day is confident that her plan is working.

"We are experiencing a level of popularity and response and respect that I don’t think we’ve seen since the era of the supermodel in the late-80s, early-90s," she said.

"My ideas so far have been working. When I say I want to shoot in zero gravity, they’re like, 'Okay?' but they trust me."

Carrie Underwood just dealt a big blow to Adidas

Adidas has been losing market share to competitors like Under Armour and Nike.

And now, the brand counts country star Carrie Underwood among its competitors.

Dick's Sporting Goods will remove women's clothing items from Adidas and Reebok to make room for Underwood's Calia line, reports Sara Germano at The Wall Street Journal.

The Calia line, which includes leggings, sweaters, sports bras, and headbands, will be sold exclusively at Dick's, according to WSJ.

Dick's move is an attempt to cash in on the "athleisure" trend pioneered by Lululemon of wearing your gym clothes to work and brunch.

Nike and Under Armour are also pushing for more female customers and expanding product lines.

Adidas executives say they are trying to regain market share by selling cool gear to young athletes.

Under Armour has surpassed Adidas to become the second biggest sportswear brand in the US by sales, the WSJ reported last year.

Under Armour reported sales growth of 20% to $1.2 billion, while Adidas' sales fell 23% to $1.1 billion.

While Adidas has been going after hardcore athletes, Under Armour has signed sports stars like Muhammed Ali and Stephen Curry.

Here are some photos of the new Calia line:
