Aaron Paul: People Harass Me To Find Out How 'Breaking Bad' Ends

aaron paul jimmy kimmel

"Breaking Bad" star Aaron Paul was on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" Wednesday to discuss his crazy fan following and the end to AMC's hit series.

With only two episodes left, Paul tells Kimmel fans are constantly asking him about the ending to the show, something he doesn't mind sharing.

"It is just madness out there." says Paul."People come up to me constantly just begging to have me tell them what is happening with the show ... how it's going to end. They just constantly harass me. Finally, I'm just like, 'All right, fine. I will tell you.'"

However, before Paul gets the chance to say another word, he says fans stop him.

"They just start screaming at me, 'How dare you! Don't tell me!'" Paul tells Kimmel.

If you're wondering about the last two episodes, Paul says it continues to get even crazier. (That's difficult to imagine after last week's jaw-dropping episode.)

"Last week's episode was pretty messy," says Paul. "The final two episodes are so much more messier. It goes to a place where … It gets so crazy, I can't wait for people to see how it all plays out."

Watch Paul discuss the final episodes of "Breaking Bad" below:

Paul also shared that he held a screening of the most recent episode for fans in his hometown.

However, things got a little out of hand when he gave away tickets by hosting a scavenger hunt around town. Paul says fans started flocking to areas he was at and wrestled each other for a chance to watch with him.

Hear about Paul's "Breaking Bad" scavenger hunt:

Julie Chen Blasts Nose Job Reports, Shows How Makeup Changes Her Face

Julie Chen

After Julie Chen revealed she had plastic surgery on her eyes "to look less Chinese," "The Talk" co-host is now fighting back against accusations that she has also had a nose job and other face-altering procedures.

"I do not have cheek implants and I did not take fat out of my face. I did not have chin surgery, I did not have a nose job. I have not done my teeth, I've never even had braces," Chen revealed to viewers.

What she does have, though, is a great makeup artist.

For 20-45 minutes every morning, Chen sits in "The Talk" make up artist's chair as her face is quite literally painted on.

"Contouring is done down the nose, sometimes it's heavier than others," says Chen, adding "I've gotten calls from family saying you look like you were in 'The Lion King' today."

To prove her point, Chen showed viewers a photo of herself in the morning without makeup next to a photo of herself before her eye surgery in 1995. Chen argues that underneath all the makeup she doesn't actually look that different. Judge for yourself:

But if you still don't believe her, watch a 20-second time-lapse video of Chen's daily makeup transformation she showed on today's "Talk":

Meanwhile, the Dayton, Ohio, TV station that Chen said made her feel so insecure about her looks that she had surgery to make her eyes look bigger has issued an apology.

"We are sorry to hear about what happened to CBS' Julie Chen in 1995 when she was a reporter at WDTN-TV," Joe Abouzeid, WDTN and WBDT president and general manager, said in a statement given to the Dayton Daily News. "The station was under different management and ownership during that time. At WDTN and WBDT, we don't tolerate racism or discrimination of any kind."

'Blue Is The Warmest Color': The Trailer For The NC-17 Movie That Won The Cannes Film Festival

Despite winning the Cannes Film festival's highest honor, the Palme d'Or, "Blue Is The Warmest Color" has caused quite a bit of controversy.

Firt of all, it contains a very graphic lesbian sex scene that led to its NC-17 rating. Then the actors said they had a horrible time filming, followed by the writer of the novel on which the film is based blasting the movie as porn.

The trailer, however, keeps it clean.

Cannes jury president, Steven Spielberg, says of the film: “We just all felt (this) was a profound love story. We didn't think about how it was going to play, we just were really happy that someone had the courage to tell this story the way he did."

The film opens stateside October 25. Watch the trailer below.

Bill Nye's Appearance On 'Dancing With The Stars' Is Bad For Science

$

bill nye dancing with the stars

Bill Nye's first appearance on "Dancing With The Stars" was bad for science.

There, I said it.

Here's the video if you haven't seen it.

Nye wore a lab coat while he and his partner did the chachacha to the song "Weird Science," while dancing through a set of life-sized beakers. Nye's appearance on Dancing was so bad it has him facing elimination, after getting the lowest score in the bunch.

His dance did end with fans cheering his name, and he had the biggest social media buzz of any contestants.

But I think his over-the-top performance on "Dancing With The Stars" on Monday night was a disservice to the science community by reinforcing stereotypes that scientists are nerdy, old white men who can't dance. These stereotypes are what keep women and minorities out of science.

Standing up to stereotypes

Don't get me wrong I love Bill Nye — I've grown up with his show and I've even been lucky enough to meet him. I love how he's been standing up to the creationist community and even dares to go on CNN.

My problem is that this was a major opportunity to teach America that scientists are normal people too. Nye may have just been playing himself — he has always acted dorky and over-the-top. But every bit of his performance was dictated by his science guy character. He didn't need to do a science-themed dance — no other Star did a themed dance.

Keyshawn Johnson, also a contestant on this year's season, didn't do a football-themed dance. He didn't wear a jersey or have goalposts on stage. Nye missed the opportunity to show the world that scientists are people too.

The fact is, Nye's appearance on "Dancing With The Stars" is probably the only exposure to a scientist that many of the audience will have this year. Or for some, ever. A study by Research America in 2009 found that 65 % of Americans cannot name a living scientist, and another 18 % try but get it wrong.

That means 83% of Americans can't name a living scientist.

Jennifer Welsh bill nye and neil degrasse tyson

What is a scientist?

Not all scientists wear glasses and bow-ties. Not all of them spend their entire day in the lab. Scientists aren't all older white men like Nye.

Scientists are mothers and fathers, rockers and rock climbers, some of us have tattoos and pink-dyed hair.

Some scientists are even females and minorities. There is still a gender gap in the sciences, and by focusing on popularizing one white male example of a "scientist" and his beakers we are missing the true diversity of both the sciences and scientists.

In the media, we think of the characters on the "Big Bang Theory" when we think of scientists. These nerds, who are usually the butt of jokes that aren't even funny, also reinforce these science stereotypes. A bone of contention in the nerd community, where many want to promote science to lay people, but hate that it's always portrayed based on stereotypes.

Unintended consequences

A study just this year suggested that that stereotype is what's holding women back from science, according to GeekWire:

New research out of the University of Washington, which found that women don’t choose careers in computer science because of the "nerd" stereotype in the media.

UW psychologist Sapna Cheryan ran two studies to find out if the lack of women in tech was due to their disinterest in the topic, or other reasons. First, she asked 254 non-computer science college students to describe CSE majors. They were perceived to be "incompatible with the female gender role, such as lacking interpersonal skills and being singularly focused on computers."

After reading an article about a non-stereotypical computer science major, their interest in the topic increased significantly, as seen in the graph below:

computer science stereotypes and women

If we want to encourage diversity in the sciences we have to get rid of these old-white-man scientist stereotypes. The portrayal of the scientist as an older white man puts women and minorities at a disadvantage.

Studies show that girls do just as well as boys in math in the long term, as long as they are encouraged to stick with it. This difference has more to do with culture than ability, other studies suggest. The problem? Existing stereotypes drive women away.

A study from 2010 indicated that girls do worse in math classes when faced with stereotypes. But, a second study in 2013 indicated that when these girls are empowered, the effect is dissipated.

We are making some progress, but it's slow. A study from the National Bureau of Economic Research in 2000 showed that the number of doctorates awarded to females increased by 19% since 1966.

The majority of the science and engineering community is still white males, according to a 2010 National Science Foundation poll:

fig4a

This won't change until the media stops portraying the sciences as a boys club.

Get a better idea of what scientists look like at This Is What A Scientist Looks Like. The emerging diversity in scientists is important — different experiences, upbringings, and cultures bring different perspectives to how we study the world around us.

I hope Nye's next dance (if he gets the chance) will eschew the beaker-play and show the world that scientists aren't just nerds, and some can even dance. Maybe he will harken back his partying days of the 80s.

Perhaps we should send Neil deGrasse Tyson up to dance next. We know he can do it. Heck, we've even caught him moonwalking across the stage for Buzz Aldrin. Hopefully the upcoming Fox reboot of Carl Sagan's Cosmos series will help get him into the popular spotlight.

Here's the video of Nye's dance for those who missed it:

Startling Documentary Will Tell The Story Of The Boy Born Inside A North Korean Prison Camp

shin dong-hyuk north korea prisoner

A new documentary will soon shed more light on the horrors that happen inside the extensive network of prison camps in North Korea.

"Camp 14: Total Control Zone" will follow the life of Shin Dong-hyuk, a North Korean who was born inside a camp, and endured torture and total control from sadistic guards inside the wire for 23 years. The UN recently likened conditions in these camps to Nazi war crimes.

In a previous interview with 60 Minutes, Shin said he was once sent to an underground torture center at age 13 when his mother and older brother were accused of attempting an escape. "They hung me by the ankles and they tortured me with fire."

The Guardian has more:

Shin, who recently gave testimony before a UN commission, would rather not talk about the past, but he cannot be free of it. Physically, in the film, he is in Seoul. Mentally and emotionally, he is still back in camp 14. To date, he is the only known person to have been born in a total control zone camp and escaped, and some have questioned his story. "We made something like 15 lie detector tests with him," says Wiese, who first read about the young Korean in the Washington Post. By now there can be little doubt of his veracity, or that his experiences weigh heavily on him.

The producers wanted to shoot him talking in a studio, but that was "impossible". "I had to build him a setting where he felt comfortable," says Wiese. Instead, they worked in Shin's home, in a bare space with bedding on the floor, similar to the way he lived with his mother, as a child, in the camp. Even then, "it was complicated for him".

As one would expect, the trailer alone is harrowing. According to the film website, filmmaker Marc Wiese crafted the documentary from interviews with Shin as well as former camp guards and secret police, coupled with animated scenes of life inside.

j.j. abrams star warsFor fans hoping to hear more news on the upcoming "Star Wars" movie, you're in luck.

Director J.J. Abrams, who is notoriouslysecretive over his projects, spoke with Entertainment Weekly briefly about the film, saying he wants to bring the series back to its roots.

"We are working really hard to make a movie that feels as emotional and authentic and exciting as possible," says Abrams.

As a big "Star Wars" fan himself, Abrams knows how big of a task he has ahead of him.

If he screws it up, there will be a ton of angry fanboys.

"We all know that [creator George Lucas'] dream has become almost a religion to some people. I remember reading a thing somewhere, someone wrote about just wanting [the new film] to feel real; to feel authentic," says Abrams. "I remember I felt that way when I was 11 years old when I saw the first one. As much of a fairy tale as it was, it felt real. And to me, that is exactly right."

It sounds like he has the right mindset about the direction he wants to take the new series.

The new "Star Wars" is currently set for an unspecified 2015 release date.

Remember when Britney Spears was a spokeswoman for Pepsi and starred in that super catchy "Joy of Pepsi" commercial?

Spears made a whopping $8 million from the Pepsi deal in 2001  and now she's investing that money in rival brand Coca-Cola.

TMZ obtained new documents in Spears' conservatorship case, which detail her investment portfolio, including her overall gains and losses in 2012.

"Britney sold 574 shares of Coke for a modest profit of $3,238.55. She held on to 208 shares," reports TMZ. "As for Pepsi ... it's nowhere to be found in her portfolio" despite the brand showing consistent growth since the 80s.

TMZ notes that "Brit sold a few other random stocks for a profit  including AT&T and Deere & Co.  but it wasn't all gravy: she lost $640.13 on McDonald's and $1,277.38 on Chipotle."

Overall, Spears netted $97,883 last year in stock earnings, which TMZ points out is peanuts for the pop star, who will earn more than triple that per show in her upcoming Vegas residency.

According to the docs, Spears' other holdings including safe bets such as Chevron, Microsoft, Phillip Morris, Heinz, Nestle, Amazon, Facebook, Google, Lululemon, and Visa.

In all, the 31-year-old former child star has nearly $13 million of her conservatorship money in the market.

Mom Sells Daughter's 'One Direction' Tickets On eBay In The Nastiest Way Possible

fail failure sad girl

An Australian mother has chosen to scar her daughter for life with what might be the nastiest eBay listing of all time

After her daughter lied to her about hanging out at an older boy's house, the eBay user "tsfe" decided to teach her a lesson by auctioning off the One Direction concert tickets she had previously purchased as a birthday gift.

The blistering, shaming message tsfe wrote in the listing was discovered by the Reddit user canusich, and it's sure to make your inner teenager want to disappear on the spot.

Here it is:

"THIS AUCTION IS FOR ALL 4 ONE DIRECTION TICKETS IN SYDNEY OCTOBER 25th. You can thank my daughters self righteous and lippy attitude for their sale. See sweety? And you thought I was bluffing. I hope the scowl on your b----- little friends faces when you tell them that your dad and i revoked the gift we were giving you all reminds you that your PARENTS are the ones that deserve love and respect more than anyone. And your silly little pack mentality of taking your parents for fools is one sadly mistaken. Anyhow. Your loss someone else's gain who deserves them! THE TICKETS ARE SEATED IN ROW O section 57. REMEMBER AUCTION IS FOR ALL 4 TICKETS and will be sent registered post.

...OH YOUR FRIENDS THOUGHT THAT A FEW PRANKS CALLS WOULD PUT ME OFF SELLING THE GIFT WE BOUGHT FOR THEM for YOUR BIRTHDAY because YOU all LIED to us about sleep overs so you could hang like little trollops at an older guys HOUSE????? Pffft!! I find it HIGHLY amusing that you girls think you invented this stuff. Tricks like this on OUR parents is how HALF of you were conceived .....And why a lot of your friends DONT have an address to send that Fathers day card to!!! I'm not your friend. I'm your MOTHER. And I am here to give you the boundaries that YOU NEED to become a functional responsible adult. You may hate me now..... But I don't care. Its my job to raise a responsible adult..not nuture bad habits in my teen age child."

Yikes. The current bid is at $395. Let's just hope some of the proceeds can be used to pay for all of the therapy everyone involved is going to need.

We reached out to the seller, but have yet to hear back.

'Big Brother' Contestants Finally Speak Out About Losing Their Jobs After Racist Remarks

ginamarie zimmerman big brother

This summer was easily the most heated season of "Big Brother" yet.

At the beginning of the season, CBS' popular reality series saw a ratings boost after not one, but two of the contestants on the show were caught on camera making racist and homophobic comments.

The controversial comments made by houseguests Aaryn Gries and GinaMarie Zimmerman resulted in the two losing their jobs. Gries, a 22-year-old college student, was dropped from both a talent agency and modeling gig by a magazine

Zimmerman was fired from her job of five years as a pageant coordinator at East Coast USA Pageant.

An additional housemate, Spencer Clawson, was also put on unpaid leave of absence from Union Pacific after "Big Brother" live feeds showed him participating in prejudicial remarks.

While the two lost their positions, the comments in the house continued as both were unaware of their firings.

Players inside the "Big Brother" house aren't allowed contact with the outside world until after they are kicked out of the house.

aaryn ginamarie big brotherBoth Gries and Zimmerman made it far enough into the game that they had to wait until after the finale to find out the bad news.

"Big Brother" ended its run Wednesday.

While Andy Herren was crowned the winner of $500,000, the show left a big question unanswered: How did the houseguests respond to learning they'd lost their jobs?

The contestants spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about finding out the news, expressing regret for their character on screen.

"I definitely was shocked with how serious things were taken," Gries told THR. "Some of the things were taken out of context, but either way, I definitely regret saying those things. I never wanted to hurt or offend anyone."

Gries added she already has "more opportunities" with other agencies and is considering a book.

Zimmerman said her firing was unfortunate.

"I definitely regret that and [would] take that back if I could," she said. "[I will] probably keep a little low right now because of the pageant situation."

As for Clawson, though he wasn't let go from his job, he felt regret over things said in the house.

"If I said anything that was bad judgment, I apologize for that," said Clawson. "I don't want anyone to think I hate a particular group of people or I condone a particular activity or behavior. … I'm kind of a jokester and I talk a lot, and I'm going to say stupid things — and that's exactly what happened. I can't blame anybody for it but myself."

Louis CK Conan

Comedian Louis C.K. had a serious issue to address on Thursday’s “Conan” — smartphones.

"I think these things are toxic, especially for kids," Louis explained. "It's bad, they don't look at people when they're talking to them, they don't build empathy. Kids are mean."

Louis argued that kids feel safer bullying their peers via text, when they are able to hide behind a screen.

He also feels that phones distract people from necessary feelings of isolation and sadness.

"You need to build an ability to just be yourself and not be doing something, that's what the phones are taking away  the ability to just sit there," he told Conan passionately.

The comedian recalled a recent time in which he heard a Bruce Springsteen song while driving that brought back some emotional memories.

"I started to get that sad feeling and reached for my phone, but I thought 'don't' — just be sad, let it hit you like a truck," he explains. "I pulled over and I just cried like a bitch, it was beautiful. Sadness is poetic."

But once he let the sadness hit him, Louis says, "I was grateful to feel sad and then I met it with true, profound happiness."

Former Film Studio Execs Reveal How They Coped With Being Fired

Ron Meyer Adam Fogelson

Earlier this month, Universal chairman Adam Fogelson was reportedly blindsided after learning of his dismissal via media leaks just hours after partying at the Toronto Film Festival.

Fogelson isn't alone.

In fact, he was the third top film studio executive to lose his job this year.

But it shouldn't come as a surprise to studio execs, as the gig isn't known for its stability. (NBCUniversal vice chairman Ron Meyer is the exception to the rule after 18 years in the post.)

"You're essentially hired to be fired," Bill Mechanic, who was pushed out as chairman of the Fox studio in June 2000, explains to The Hollywood Reporter. "There is no riding off into the sunset."

THR talked to several top execs about what they did after leaving the studio world and found their answers were very similar.

They told the truth:

Bill Mechanic, Former Chairman at Fox Studio: "Everybody said, 'You shouldn't say you were fired. I did this interview saying I didn't resign, I got fired, and everybody thought I was stupid. [But] I don't think there's anything wrong with being fired in that job. Nobody lasts, nobody survives, so why would you think it's a big deal?"

Nina Jacobson, Former Head of Production at Disney, Current "Hunger Games" producer: "You're usually encouraged to come up with a party line about how you're pursuing your lifelong dream. I chose to be honest about it and not try to spin it as my choice when it wasn't."

And went back to work:

Donald De Line, Former President and Vice Chairman of Paramount: "I just went right back to work as a producer. It was disappointing, but I knew it was 50-50 at best when that kind of changeover happens."

Mechanic: "You think everything will evaporate, but it doesn't disappear right away. You can go to restaurants, you can still get seated. You don't become the plague."

Jacobson: "I will always remember the people who stepped up for me. (Steven Spielberg and Stacey Snider soon offered her a deal at DreamWorks.) Having somebody who wanted me meant the world to me, and it gives you a sense of looking forward and not back."

It seemed like Justin Timberlake was getting punked during a recent interview with Brazilian TV show host Sabrina Sato — except he wasn't, it was just super awkward.

Throughout the interview in which Timberlake was promoting his new film "Runner Runner," Sato gifted him a sculpture of her butt and asked the star a series of inappropriate questions that made him laugh.

Sato, who barely speaks English, tells Timberlake he dances “like a black American” and asks if he wants to learn to samba "like a black Brazilian"  to which he responds "Brazilian is just a Brazilian, right?"

After making a record-breaking $800 million in one day, owner Take-Two Interactive announces the Rockstar game surpassed the milestone after being out for less than three days.

In 2012, it took "Call of Duty: Black Ops II" 15 days to reach $1 billion in sales.

James Cameron's "Avatar" (2009) was the fastest movie to make that amount in 17 days, according to Deadline. It took "The Avengers" 19 days to hit that mark last year.

For those of you with a long memory, you may remember when rapper M.I.A. flipped the middle finger and mouthed “I don’t give a sh--” during her Super Bowl XLVI halftime performance with Madonna.

Yesterday, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that the NFL has been engaged in a lawsuit with the rapper for the last 18 months.

Apparently, the NFL is seeking $1.5 million in damages and a public apology from M.I.A. for breaching her performance contract.

If you're wondering what was in her performance contract exactly, it states that she “acknowledge the great value of the goodwill associated with the NFL and the tremendous public respect and reputation for wholesomeness enjoyed by the NFL … ”

This isn’t a money issue, at least not overtly. M.I.A. was not paid for her performance.

The NFL generally considers the insane exposure from performing during the most-watched event in the U.S. to be payment enough.

The contract goes on to state that “all elements of [her] performance, including without limitation [her] wardrobe, shall be consistent with such good will and reputation.” That being the key clause here, it’s obvious that the NFL is trying to prevent another Janet Jackson “Nipplegate” fiasco.

Too bad, that M.I.A. “obscene gesture” was so fleeting that if you didn’t DVR it and rewind, you probably didn’t even catch it.

Charles Ortner, the NFL’s lawyer for the case, has said that M.I.A. has not acted in “good faith” since the performance.

In addition to her failure to take action toward resolving the suit, the rapper has used video clips of her Super bowl performance for promotion and “refused to take responsibility for her actions which were broadcast worldwide.”

M.I.A. is known for her outspoken image. She has spoken out repeatedly on human rights abuses, against censorship, and in favor of WikiLeaks and Julian Assange. She’s not a fan of cowing to the powers that be.

Even so, she did apologize and take responsibility for the middle finger when it first happened (sort of). Just a few days after the performance, a source close to the rapper told the Los Angeles Times that the gesture was the result of “adrenaline.”

"She wasn't thinking," the source said. "It wasn't any kind of statement. She was caught in the moment and she's incredibly sorry."

Add in the fact that NBC, which aired the Superbowl that year, and the FCC, in charge of dishing out punishments for obscene gestures, both haven’t blinked an eye at the case and the NFL is starting to look pretty ridiculous.

M.I.A. and her lawyer are now taking the suit to the court of public opinion.

“She is going to go public with an explanation of how ridiculous it was for the NFL and its fans to devote such furor to this incident, while ignoring the genocide occurring in her home country and several other countries, topics she frequently speaks to," M.I.A.’s lawyer Howard King told The Hollywood Reporter.

M.I.A. isn’t finished yet: "Of course, the NFL's claimed reputation for wholesomeness is hilarious in light of the weekly felonies committed by its stars, the bounties placed by coaches on opposing players, the homophobic and racist comments uttered by its players, the complete disregard for the health of players and the premature deaths that have resulted from same, and the raping of public entities ready to sacrifice public funds to attract teams,” King said.

King might have a point. Just in the last two years, the NFL has paid $765 million to former players over a concussion suit, uncovered an NFL team that paid its players to try to injure opponents, and found out one of its star players is probably responsible for multiple murders.

That being said, M.I.A. and King may have overestimated how many Americans are looking to knock America’s most watched sports league down a peg. King has begun to openly solicit submissions from any people who can provide examples of how the actions of the NFL and anyone associated with the league have “destroyed any vestiges of any reputation for wholesomeness every enjoyed by the NFL.”
