Richard Dawson, the sweet-talking, wisecracking host of "Family Feud," has passed away at age 79.
Dawson's son Gary announced the news of his father's passing Saturday on Facebook:
Dear Friends.
It is with a very heavy heart that I inform you that my father passed away this evening from complications due to esophageal cancer. He was surrounded by his family. He was an amazing talent, a loving husband, a great dad, and a doting grandfather. He will be missed but always remembered...
From giving girls "good luck" kisses on "Family Feud" to helping them win big money on "Match Game," Dawson was the Casanova of game show television.
Though he found his home on quiz shows, the English-born star had his start playing Corporal Peter Newkirk on "Hogan's Heroes."
