Here's what James Bond's résumé would look like if he had one

Ever wonder how you would stack up to James Bond in a job search?

Sure, he's survived 4,662 shots and has the ability to romance the most beautiful women in the world — but MI6, the British secret intelligence service, has gone on record saying they wouldn't hire the fictional Secret Service agent due to his lack of emotional intelligence, and a study from the British Medical Journal found that Bond is a functioning alcoholic, averaging 92 drinks per week. So the competition might not be as fierce as you'd think.

Of course, Bond is a fictional character (who tends to work alone anyway), but if he ever were to step into our world and apply for a job, Kickresume.com put together a fun graphic of what his résumé might look like:

The new John Lewis holiday ad comes out on Friday — here are its best ads from Christmas past

It is John Lewis Christmas Ad Eve.

On Friday, the British department store will bring the nation to a halt once again with the launch of its holiday ad. John Lewis treats the occasion like a movie premiere, and in previous years it has literally rolled out the red carpet at its flagship store in London to hold a huge screening.

The commercials, created by Adam&Eve DDB, tend to be emotional rollercoasters that are made for TV, but get shared and viewed millions of times online. And the ad's soundtrack usually tops the single charts.

As the John Lewis Christmas ad 2015 countdown nears its close, we asked video-advertising-technology company Unruly to rank the company's recent festive advertising greats in order of how many shares they received globally across Facebook and Twitter.

5. "A Tribute to Givers" (2010) — 19,790 SHARES. This ad chronicled the silly tribulations everyone goes through when trying to wrap up presents and hide the surprise from loved ones. The song was by Ellie Goulding, covering Elton John's "Your Song."

4. "The Journey" (2012) — 446,915 SHARES. The heartwarming tale of a snowman who really goes the distance to buy his snow-wife the perfect pair of red gloves.

John Lewis - The Journey from Blink on Vimeo.

3. "The Long Wait" (2011) — 519,138 SHARES. Arguably the ad that etched "John Lewis Christmas ad day" into the UK calendar. A boy impatiently waits, and waits, and waits some more for Christmas. The big reveal? He's not a spoiled brat — he was excited about gifting a present to his parents.

Aziz Ansari rips Bobby Jindal's presidential campaign with this impression on 'Jimmy Fallon'

Aziz Ansari impersonated an enthusiastic and optimistic Bobby Jindal on Wednesday night's "Tonight Show."

Host Jimmy Fallon interviewed the former "Parks and Recreation" star as the Louisiana governor. Ansari's Jindal explained why he was still in the Republican presidential race when he had been polling at just 1%.

"I was polling at 1% — I'm now polling at 2%," Ansari's Jindal responded to Fallon. "That's a 100% increase. It's a huge difference. You ever taste 1% milk? It's barely milk. It's like drinking white water. But, man, when you start dumping that 2% milk on your Apple Jacks, It's like pow! You can taste the fat."

In fact, that's the inspiration for fake Jindal's new campaign slogan: "Jindal 2016. Taste the fat."

Ansari's impression also addressed Jindal's take on science — suggesting he doesn't seem to believe in it.

"There's a lot of people running for president that buy in to these science myths," he said. "Like photosynthesis, are you serious?"

Ansari was on the "Tonight Show" to promote his coming Netflix comedy, "Master of None," premiering Friday.

Before 'Game of Thrones,' George R.R. Martin had a failed show that almost ruined his TV career

George R.R. Martin revealed that his television career was derailed by a failed show about two decades before HBO's "Game of Thrones" would become a TV hit.

While accepting an award Wednesday for his contribution to the field of TV at his alma mater Northwestern University, according to Vulture, Martin discussed the unfolding of his career. He had previously written for TV shows like "The Twilight Zone" and 1993's "Beauty and the Beast," and worked his way up through the ranks to the point where creating his own show was the next step.

Martin created a show called "Doorways," in which a woman from a parallel world enters present day earth through the "door" and befriends a doctor, who she takes on a life-threatening chase in a different universe. ABC produced the pilot in 1992 and ordered six additional episode scripts.

"I hired six writers," Martin recalled. "And we spent half a year developing and polishing and getting ready to shoot the first six episodes when we got the green light. But we never did."

sliders jerry oconnell 2ABC passed on "Doorways." Its chance of being picked up by another network was dashed about a year later when a similar time-jumping show called "Sliders" premiered on Fox and went on for five seasons.

"When 'Doorways' failed to go, and all the other shows I had been developing didn't get to the pilot stage, people suddenly stopped returning my calls," the 67-year-old writer said. "You get a certain amount of strikes out there in Hollywood. You're as successful as your last project, so that was kind of a bitter disappointment for me."

In 1991, Martin turned to writing the "A Song of Fire and Ice" novels, which would become the basis for HBO's "Game of Thrones" in 2011. He now serves as an executive producer and writer on the series. Looking back, Martin can see the bright side of the failure of "Doorways," which would've been difficult to make on the budget ABC had planned for it.

"I would have produced an ambitious but severely crippled television show that might not have been the show I really wanted it to be," he said. "And, failing that, I wrote this 'Game of Thrones' thing, and that worked out pretty well."

Most celebrity diets are bogus, but here are the ones you should consider

$

Go vegan. Eat orange food Monday and yellow food Tuesday. Survive on baby food.

No matter which diet we pick, the problem remains the same: Eventually, it ends. And when it does, researchshows that we often go back to where we started.

So is the concept of healthy eating a farce? Are we forever doomed to swing between extremes of meticulous, measured nibbling and glutinous overindulgence?

Thankfully, the answer is no.

Here's a list of some of the most popular celebrity eating plans, which we've evaluated based on the research, so you can distinguish hype from help.

SEE ALSO: 17 'healthy habits' you're better off giving up

DON'T MISS: Yes, bacon has been linked to cancer — here's how bad processed meats are for you

Beyoncé reportedly used the "Master Cleanse" to lose weight before "Dreamgirls."

The scoop: Beyoncé reportedly did the Master Cleanse, which involves subsisting on nothing but lemon juice, maple syrup, and cayenne pepper, before staring in the movie "Dreamgirls" — the idea being that it detoxes your system and accelerates weight loss.

Should you do it? You never need to do a detox. Our bodies do it for us. While our kidneys filter our blood and remove waste from our diet, our liver processes medications and detoxifies any chemicals we ingest. Paired together, these organs make our bodies natural cleansing powerhouses. So stop eyeing that lemon squeezer. It's not worth it.

Reese Witherspoon did the "Baby Food Diet."

The scoop: The Baby Food Diet has been traced to celebrity trainer Tracy Anderson, who's since denied supporting it. It involves eating 14 jars of baby food, with the option of adding in one actual low-calorie meal, each day.

Should you do it? Nope. The jars of baby food are 80 calories. Eat 14 and you end up with roughly 1,000 calories each day plus one real meal. So long as the meal you allow yourself is about 400 calories — think a small piece of grilled fish or lean meat and some sautéed veggies — you'll definitely lose weight. But it'll be because you're not eating food, not because mushed-up fruit is a miracle diet product.

Snooki went on the "Cookie Diet."

The scoop: Snooki reportedly lost weight in 2010 with a diet of cookies. For three weeks, she ate six of the 90-calorie treats a day and one small meal. Alarmingly, the Cookie Diet is not Snooki's creation: Now-retired Dr. Sanford "The Cookie Doctor" Siegal trademarked the plan.

Should you do it? Probably not. Cookie Diet cookies are no Girl Scout Samoas. The recipe's first three ingredients are glycerin (used to add sweetness and moisture), whole-wheat powder (for fiber), and beef protein. They've also got rice crisps (ostensibly for crunch), egg whites (for more protein), wheat bran (for fiber), and a smattering of B vitamins.

Michael Keaton's 'Spotlight' is almost certain to get a Best Picture nomination — here's why you should see it

$

spotlight1

This year's Toronto International Film Festival presented us with Oscar-worthy films like the gritty Netflix movie "Beasts of No Nation" and the heart-wrenching "Room," which at the very least will garner nominations for its lead actors.

But one movie this year that has all the makings for a run at the Best Picture prize is Tom McCarthy's "Spotlight" (out in theaters Friday).

Based on the Boston Globe's 2002 work in the Massachusetts Catholic Church sex-abuse scandal— the uncovering of the alleged child molestation cover-up by the city's local Catholic archdiocese — it's the kind of well-crafted story Academy members gravitate toward.

A big reason for its success is the ensemble cast McCarthy compiled, which includes Michael Keaton, Mark Ruffalo, Liev Schreiber, Rachel McAdams, John Slattery, Stanley Tucci, and Billy Crudup.

The film has an "All the President's Men" vibe to it as we follow the Globe's investigative department, Spotlight. Spotlight is the oldest, continuously operating newspaper investigative unit in the US, headed by Robby Robinson (Keaton) in the movie. The paper's new editor, Marty Baron (Schreiber), assigns Spotlight a follow-up piece on a column the paper wrote about a priest who was allegedly caught molesting a child decades earlier.

At first the follow-up is thought to be just a good chase. But reporters Sacha Pfeiffer (McAdams) and Michael Rezendes (Ruffalo) discover that this is far from "a few bad apples in the bunch." They begin talking to victims and a tenacious lawyer (Tucci) who represents them. Soon, the Spotlight team discovers that close to 90 priests in the Boston area have been "relocated" or put on "sick leave" after the Catholic Church discovered they were sexually molesting children.

spotlight2

The biggest challenge with these kind of dramatic, newsroom-focused stories is finding the action that keeps the audience involved. But "Spotlight" does this well.

"Spotlight" accomplishes what films like "All the President's Men," "The Insider," and "Good Night, and Good Luck" did so well. It gives a behind-the-scenes look at a story that general audiences know a lot about thanks to years of constant news coverage on the subject, and it brings on actors who lift the stakes through their performances of scenes set in mundane meeting rooms, doorsteps, and back-alleys.

Though all the actors bring their A-game, standouts in the movie are Ruffalo and Keaton.

Keaton is no stranger to the newsroom. He was perfect as an editor of a New York tabloid in Ron Howard's "The Paper" in 1994. Here he's the Boston native who slowly realizes he'll have to ask a lot of tough questions of people he's known for most of his life to get to the bottom of the story.

Ruffalo, who plays the tenacious reporter Rezendes, is a go-getter so engrossed in his career that his marriage is falling apart. Even when he can step away, say for a jog, he finds himself right back at the newsroom.

Don't be surprised if either — perhaps both — get nominations on Oscar night.

McCarthy, who you'd recognize as an actor in countless movies (a memorable one is playing Dr. Bob in the "Meet the Parents" movies), has had success as a director in the past with indie titles "The Station Agent" and "The Visitor." But "Spotlight" — he also co-wrote the screenplay — is a well-crafted, easy-to-understand drama that shows his elevation as a storyteller. There could be an Oscar nomination in his future as well.

"Spotlight" opens in theaters November 6.

Meet the 30-year-old prodigy behind the H&M collection women are fighting over

Since 2004, H&M has collaborated with international design icons, from Alexander Wang to Karl Lagerfeld, to produce affordable capsule collections.

H&M's latest collaboration is with Balmain, and the collection hit stores this morning. To say that apparel has been flying off the racks is an understatement, as there have been reports of fights breaking out over the jackets, dresses and accessories featured in the line.

Stores even opened to lines of shoppers this morning, all waiting for a chance to get their hands on the clothes designed by Olivier Rousteing.

The 30-year-old is the French brand's creative director, and a prodigy that is blowing up the fashion world.

Formerly working for Roberto Cavalli, Rousteing joined Balmain in 2009. Two years later, at only 25, he became the label's creative director. His meteoric rise in the fashion world is mirrored by his equally fast ascent to stardom, in part thanks to his numerous famous friends, many of whom are the very models that walk in his shows.

"The models that I chose are my friends and all the girls that I love," Rousteing told reporters at a show debuting his H&M line last month.

His friends include models Gigi Hadid, Jourdan Dunn, and Kendall Jenner. But his most famous friend is Kim Kardashian, whom he even considers his muse. The entire Kardashian clan showed up for his star-studded 30th birthday bash last month, which was all documented on Instagram. Rousteing now has 1.6 million followers.

Why all ‘Shark Tank’ entrepreneurs see a psychiatrist after their pitch

mikki bey shark tank

During filming for the seventh season of "Shark Tank" this past June, an entrepreneur became so overwhelmed that he fainted, collapsing in front of the Sharks.

Investor Barbara Corcoran shared this story with Business Insider, and said that even though she wasn't on the set that day, news of it spread throughout the cast instantaneously.

The entrepreneur was revived and uninjured, but the segment won't air.

It's an extreme reminder of a basic fact about the show: The entrepreneurs are regular people, typically with minimal to no media experience, getting in front of a panel full of millionaire or billionaire celebrities to give a presentation that potentially millions of people will see.

It's why the producers mandate that all entrepreneurs meet with a psychiatrist after giving their pitch, regardless of the outcome.

A typical pitch lasts about an hour, and the entrepreneurs are told that there's a chance their pitch will never air (about 20% of pitches get left out). Whether the entrepreneurs are leaving the Tank jubilant, heartbroken, or angry, the psychiatric consultation is meant to ensure that they are able to come down from the emotional rush and deal with the possibility of appearing in front of seven million Americans.

Rent Like A Champion business partners Drew Mitchell and Mike Doyle secured a great deal with Mark Cuban and Chris Sacca for $200,000 in exchange for 10% of their business, but still spent 10 minutes with the on-set psychiatrist.

"The conversation is pretty casual, and she asks you to be reflective on the experience," Mitchell told us, "but I think what's going on is they're trying to assess that you don't have any post-Tank trauma."

"It's a good idea," Corcoran said.

The book that inspired Oprah Winfrey's business philosophy has nothing to do with business

$

oprah winfrey

Oprah Winfrey felt like she had made a huge mistake after leaving the set of her talk show one day in 1988.

She had invited white supremacists to her show as a way to get insight into the source of their hatred, but the episode devolved into sensationalism, and Winfrey had a sick feeling that she had given the white supremacists a recruiting platform. More than 20 years later, two of those guests, now reformed, reappeared on Winfrey's show to apologize and to confirm her suspicions that they had used her.

Not long after the white supremacists' first appearance, she came across a book that provided answers she was looking for, she told LinkedIn CEO Jeff Weiner in a recent interview.

Author Gary Zukav's 1989 book "The Seat of the Soul" contained practical advice that Winfrey was able to apply to her career, particularly the "principle of intention."

"The number one principle that rules my life is intention," Winfrey told Weiner. "And that is actually one of the reasons why I let the show go," she said, referring to giving up her talk show in 2011 to start her cable network OWN.

Though Zukav's book was part of the non-denominational, New Age spirituality movement, his thoughts on intention are widely applicable.

In his book, Zukav writes that, "Every action, thought, and feeling is motivated by an intention, and that intention is a cause that exists as one with an effect. If we participate in the cause, it is not possible for us not to participate in the effect. In this most profound way we are held responsible for our every action, thought, and feeling, which is to say, for our every intention."

Winfrey realized that up to that point, the intention that had been driving her personal life and career had been the desire to be liked, she writes in the preface to the 25th anniversary edition of "The Seat of the Soul." She decided to change her intention to pursuing what made her, rather than others, happy.

the seat of the soul"So after reading Gary's book, I had a big meeting with all my producers and I said, 'We are now going to become an intentional television show,'" Winfrey told Weiner. She explained to her producers that "the idea behind it — the vision — is that we are going to be a force for good, and that is going to be our intention." That meant no more episodes where audience members argued with white supremacists.

Winfrey explained that there were plenty of times where she'd be pitched ideas that had plenty of details but no positive intention, and she turned them down. There were other times she dismissed pitches where she could tell the producer was manufacturing an intention he or she didn't believe in.

Winfrey said that this philosophy still drives everything she does because, "I have to be able to find for myself the thread of truth that I can hold onto and sit in the chair and be an authentic person."

She decided to end the show when she did because she felt that she had done all she could with it, and she was not going to have a season where she would have to feign enthusiasm for her work.

Winfrey went on to host Zukav 36 times on her talk show, and "The Seat of the Soul" continues to inspire the work she does on her network OWN, like her newest show "Belief."

In the book's most recent preface she writes, "Quite frankly, I don't believe I would ever have dreamed of creating such a network had I not read 'The Seat of the Soul.'"

You can watch part one of three of Winfrey's interview with Weiner below, courtesy of LinkedIn:

Outkast turned down playing the Super Bowl halftime show — this is why they said no

OutKast

There is no bigger stage for an American musician than playing the Super Bowl halftime show, which has hosted everyone from Michael Jackson to, more recently, the Who and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

But the hip-hop duo Outkast turned down the opportunity to play the Super Bowl, according to Big Boi.

The rapper appeared on ESPN's "The Dan LeBatard Show" Thursday and, as Pitchfork reports, when asked about the most memorable sports event he's played, he mentioned that his group was once asked to perform the Super Bowl halftime show but rejected the offer. (You can listen here at the 4-minute mark.)

The reason? His partner Andre 3000 refused to cut down Outkast's songs for time, in particular "Hey Ya!" and "The Way You Move."

"[Andre] didn’t want to cut the songs, he wanted to do the full songs. It was like, 'Nah, can’t do it,'" Big Boi said, adding that he tried to convince Andre to change his mind.

"Hopefully they invite us back," he said.

Given the song choices, it's likely Outkast was asked to play the 2004 Super Bowl. Outkast released its album Speakerboxxx/The Love Below in late 2003, and both "Hey Ya!" and "The Way You Move" from it hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, so it's no surprise the biggest sporting event of the year wanted a piece of the group.

If Outkast had played in 2004, we wouldn't have had the Janet Jackson/Justin Timberlake "wardrobe malfunction," which is certainly an alternative history to think about.

Emma Watson had an awesome reaction when Malala Yousafzai called herself a feminist

Actress Emma Watson, the U.N. global goodwill ambassador for women, helped teenage Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai embrace the word feminism.

When she heard how she inspired Yousafzai to consider herself a feminist, she got really excited.

Yousafzai, a human rights and female education activist, is the subject of the new documentary "He Named Me Malala." Four years ago, Yousafzai was shot in the head by members of the Taliban for speaking out in support of education for girls.

On Wednesday, Watson interviewed her at the Into Film Festival, where the documentary was being shown.

During the interview, the 18-year-old Pakistani activist told Watson that she initially thought feminism was a "tricky word," but that Watson's U.N. speech helped her embrace the term.

"I hesitated in saying am I feminist or not," Yousafzai said. "After hearing your speech, when you said, 'If not now, when? If not me, who?' I decided there's no way, and there's nothing wrong with calling yourself a feminist."

She concluded, "So I am a feminist and you all should be feminists because feminism is another word for equality."

The phenomenon may not have quite hit the US yet, but in the UK, today is John Lewis Christmas Ad Day.

Every year the British department store releases a festive ad created by ad agency Adam&EveDDB that usually takes the viewer on an emotional roller coaster.

This year's ad is no different. It tells the tale of a girl called Lily who makes friends with a man who lives on the moon.

John LewisThe tagline is: "Show someone they're loved this Christmas."

The commercial is soundtracked by a version of the Oasis song "Half the World Away," sung by 19-year-old Norwegian singer Aurora.

This year John Lewis has partnered with charity Age UK, encouraging people to donate and also selling Christmas merchandise, which will see some proceeds donated to the charitable organization.

John LewisThe retailer is also bringing the ad in-store, by creating "moon pop-ups" in 11 of its locations, allowing shoppers to take photos against a moon backdrop.

Alongside that, John Lewis has created an augmented reality "Man on the Moon" app. Users can point their phone at the Man on the Moon image on posters, John Lewis shopping bags, and in-store, or just hold their device up to the actual moon to see different animations in the run-up to Christmas Day.

Why Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian are the ultimate power couple

Tennis star Serena Williams and Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian are reportedly dating.

Williams recently called Ohanian the "Quailman sidekick" to her "Super Serena" after he helped her chase down a thief who stole her phone while they were out to dinner. Williams explained the story on Facebook, and added: "It was only two of us sitting at a four person table chatting like we have not seen each other in years."

It's no surprise the two have a lot to talk about, since they seem to have a lot in common.

For example, they're both in their early 30s (Williams is 34 and Ohanian is 32), and are already incredibly accomplished. Williams is ranked No. 1 in women's singles tennis, and Ohanion is the co-founder and executive chairman of Reddit, helped launch the travel search site Hipmunk, and is a partner at Y Combinator.

Also, they're both super tall. Williams is 5'9 and Ohanion is a whopping 6'5.

British super spy James Bond has lived an incredibly dangerous and exciting life

With the opening of "Spectre," the latest James Bond film and the fourth to star Daniel Craig as Ian Fleming's complicated, sexy, and extremely lethal super spy, we have an opportunity to look back over his biography.

We culled these dates and events from around the web and from own memory banks as borderline Bond obsessives. It obviously isn't comprehensive. And bear in mind that with the Bond cinematic franchise now over 50 years old, some dramatic license has been taking with his age.
