Cable Industry Analyst: 'Aereo Is Far From Dead'

aereo on ipad with gossip girl playing

With the Supreme Court ruling that Aereo's business model is illegal— that it can't grab broadcast television from the airwaves and pipe them over the internet — the question is: what will happen to the fledgling live-TV-over-the-internet industry that Aereo represented?

One cable industry market research analyst is hopeful that it will not just survive but thrive and that Aereo's technology, if not its business model, will help. So says Stephen Beck, founder of cg42, which recently released a study on the frustrations of U.S. cable company customers.

The cable companies were actually quietly rooting for Aereo. Although Aereo competed with them, if the Supreme Court ruled that it was legal, they might have copied its technology, they said. That would have saved them billions of dollars in fees they pay every year to broadcasters for the right to carry their TV channels over cable.

So Beck thinks that even though Aereo can't continue to operate as is, the concept will be resurrected somehow.

BI: Is Aereo dead?

Stephen Beck: Aereo is far from dead. Ultimately, a small, 2-year-old company that had the potential to make a few waves, just got shelved and consumers are the ones to suffer as their choices are further curtailed. But this is very much the beginning of people questioning the business model of the cable companies — models that are highly frustrating and ripe for innovation, as we’ve seen in our recent study of 3,000 consumers of the top 5 cable providers.

BI: How would Aereo come back from this?

SB: Although its current incarnation isn’t sustainable given the Supreme Court’s decision, the technology it has built remains extremely valuable. Aereo is likely to continue looking for ways to monetize their assets as they evaluate next steps.

BI: Is it possible for other startups to offer live TV over the internet services?

SB: We do not believe that live TV over the internet is dead. We expect a wide range of companies to continue to innovate and experiment with new business models and customer experiences.

Dozens Hospitalized At An Avicii Concert In Boston

BOSTON (AP) — Many people who attended an electronic dance music show featuring Swedish disc jockey Avicii at the TD Garden arena on Wednesday showed up intoxicated and several were hospitalized, authorities said.

TD Garden spokeswoman Tricia McCorkle said that at Wednesday night's Avicii concert "there were a number of transports due to medical issues."

The Emergency Medical Service took 22 people to the hospital, and a dozen more were under evaluation, EMS Deputy Superintendent Mike Bosse told the Boston Herald. Bosse said he contacted the Boston Police Licensing Division, which cited the TD Garden for allowing lots of intoxicated concertgoers to enter.

Jacqueline Peterson, a spokeswoman for concert promoter Live Nation, said early reports indicate that a majority of those taken to the hospital "were people outside the venue who were too impaired to be allowed inside" for the concert. They were taken for medical evaluation and assistance as a precaution, she said in a statement early Thursday.

Two people died over the weekend at a Las Vegas music festival attended by Avicii, one of the biggest names in electronic dance music. Authorities said Monday it will take several weeks to determine what caused the deaths of the Electric Daisy Carnival fans.

Police said nearly 800 people were treated for medical conditions and 25 were hospitalized during the three-night electronic music festival, which organizers said drew about 400,000 people at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Festival organizers told police that 134,000 fans attended Friday, Saturday and Sunday night shows featuring pulsing lights, Ferris wheels, seven stages of music and DJs including Avicii, Diplo, Afrojack and Tiesto.

Gary Oldman Gives Emotional Apology For Playboy Interview On 'Kimmel'

gary oldman jimmy kimmelGary Oldman received a lot of flak after a Playboy interview in which the actor sounded off on political correctness defending Mel Gibson and Alec Baldwin and making anti-Semitic remarks.

When he went on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" Wednesday evening to promote upcoming film "The Dawn of the Planet of the Apes," the actor addressed his comments appearing as if he was on the verge of tears the entire time.

"I said some things that were poorly considered and once I had seen it in print I could see that it was offensive, insensitive, pernicious, and ill-informed," said Oldman. "And words have meaning. They carry weight and they carry on long after you've said them. I don't condone or excuse the words I used, well, in any context. I just basically shouldn't have used them in any context but I did. And, I have deeply injured and wounded a great many people."

"From my heart, I am profoundly sorry and deeply apologetic," Oldman added. "I'm a public figure. I should be an example and an inspiration, and I'm an a-hole. I'm 56 and I should know better."

The scene was very similar to when Jonah Hill recently went on "The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon" to apologize for a homophobic slur he used toward paparazzi.

Kimmel recognized that and told Oldman he understood what he was trying to get at in the Playboy interview.

"You were talking about people being hypocrites," said Kimmel. "People love to jump up on their soap box and take shots at people for saying something when you know a lot of those people are saying certain — not all of them certainly — but a lot of them are."

Kimmel followed up with what he called the "most awkward transition possible" by starting to speak about "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes." In that moment, it's the first time in five minutes Oldman looked relaxed, first swallowing and blinking before cracking a smile and reaching out for Kimmel's hand.

How A Giant Facial Scar Led To 'The Wire' Actor's Big Break

Actor Michael Kenneth Williams, best known for playing 1920s bootlegger Chalky White on "Boardwalk Empire" and thief Omar Little in "The Wire," struggled to land any roles until a near-death incident left a long scar on his face, he recently told the NPR radio program "All Things Considered."

Until his 25th birthday, Williams performed as a backup dancer on music videos. But a barroom brawl on his birthday changed the course of his career.

Williams took a break outside the Queens party and saw two friends surrounded by men he didn't know. He told his friends he wanted to leave, but then one of the strangers confronted him from behind.

Michael K. Williams"The dude wiped his hand across his mouth and ... smacked me," Williams, 47, told NPR. "What he did was he spit a razor. He was positioning the razor in his mouth to get it between his middle finger and ring finger. And then he swiped me down my face."

The slash has left a permanent scar running down the center of his face, from his forehead down to his right cheek.

"The cut on my face was actually the first hit of the fight, so we managed to escape with our lives, barely, that night," Williams explained. "Things changed immediately after that. Directors didn't want me just to dance in videos anymore. They wanted me to act out these thug rolls. They were like, 'Mike, roll these dice in this video! Have this fight in this video!' I was like, 'All right!'"

Soon he was working on bigger projects. The rapper Tupac Shakur hand-picked Williams for a role as his tough younger brother in the 1996 movie "Bullet."

"He happened to see a polaroid picture of me and was like, 'Yo, this dude looks thugged out enough' ... I think he saw my pain, my struggle, my heart," Williams said.

Next came major supporting roles on TV shows "Law and Order" and "The Sopranos." But Williams was still waiting for his big break. In the meantime, he lived with his mother and was considering working with her at a daycare she opened in a low-income neighborhood.

"My phone did not ring and I was down in the dumps," he said. "I got really depressed. Like, really depressed."

Months later, the big break finally came when Williams received a fax with details about a role he would end up portraying in "The Wire," another tough-guy character named Omar Little who steals from drug dealers.

"I got to grow with an amazing group of people that I consider my 'Wire' family," Williams said. "That character changed my life. And that was my big break."

"The Wire" role led to many more opportunities, including playing Professor Marshall Kane on "Community" and "Chalky White" on HBO's "Boardwalk Empire." Williams currently has eight TV and movie projects in the works for the rest of 2014.

Robert De Niro

Watch out Bill Murray, Robert De Niro might be gunning for the title of Hollywood's top random party crasher

De Niro was in Brooklyn's Cobble Hill neighborhood Thursday to film "The Intern" and, according to a neighbor, he wanted to take a break to watch the crucial World Cup game between the United States and Germany. The neighbor told Business Insider their apartment building got an email from Warner Bros. asking if they could help De Niro see the game.

"Our lead actor, Robert DeNiro, would very much like to watch the World Cup game, today at 12p," the email said. "Would it be possible to place a small portable satellite on the building rooftop ASAP and run a cable to the street to help facilitate this request?"

According to the neighbor, De Niro apparently ended up getting invited to a nearby house where people were watching the game.

"We got another email from a neighbor saying he talked to the crew and apparently he found a house of people watching it and joined them," the neighbor said.

De Niro's publicist did not respond to a request for comment.

More Than 60% Of Restaurants On Gordon Ramsay's 'Kitchen Nightmares' Have Closed

Ramsay

Chef Gordon Ramsay couldn't save every kitchen from its nightmares.

More than 60% of restaurants featured on the show "Kitchen Nightmares" are now closed, according to Grub Street New York, which did the math. Approximately 30% of those kitchens closed within one year of their episode's air date.

The show announced earlier this week it would end its 10-year run.

Considering the current closure rate of restaurants, Ramsay's success rate might not seem so bad. About 30% of restaurants fail in their first year, and another 30% fail sometime in the following two years, according to the National Restaurant Association.

On a positive note, around 39% of restaurants featured on the show are still open. Those include the infamous Amy's Baking Company, the Arizona restaurant that had a complete social media meltdown after Ramsay stormed out during the episode. Amy's Baking Company closed for a brief time and later reopened without much fanfare.

"Kitchen Nightmares" will air four more episodes.

9 Hit Songs You Had No Idea Were Written By Carole King

CArole King beautiful jesse mueller tonys

The Broadway musical "Beautiful" the true story of Carole King's remarkable rise from behind-the-scenes songwriter to solo stardom — took home three Tony Awards in June, including Best Actress for Jessie Mueller's portrayal of King.

Carole King TapestryBut what many don't realize about King's career is that the musician began songwriting for other artists in the 1960s, over a decade before she became a famous artist in her own right. King and her then husband, Gerry Goffinwrote more than two dozen hits for top artists of the time, including Aretha Franklin, James Taylor, and the Beatles.

It wasn't until divorce and a cross-country move to Los Angeles that King released her first successful solo album, "Tapestry," which included hit songs like "I Feel the Earth Move," "You've Got A Friend," and "It's Too Late." In 1971, "Tapestry," produced by Lou Adler, hit No. 1 on the charts and won a Grammy in 1972 for Album of the Year.

But before "Tapestry" sold over 25 million copies worldwide and became one of the best-selling albums of all time, King and Goffin were a hit-making duo in the shadows of the spotlight.

Here are nine of the collaborating couple's top hits sung by other artists:

1. "(You Make Me Feel) Like A Natural Woman" by Aretha Franklin  1967

In 1971, King released her first solo album, "Tapestry," which included her own version of this song that she wrote for Aretha Franklin. The album went on to receive the first-ever diamond certification after selling more than 10 million copies.

2. "The Locomotion" by Little Eva — 1962

The song went on to reach No. 1 in the U.S. in three different decades: the '60s for the original version, the '70s for a version by Grand Funk Railroad rendition, and the '80s for Kylie Minogue's pop version

3. "One Fine Day" by the Chiffons — 1963

The song was written for Little Eva, but the Chiffons brought it to No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100.

4. “Up On the Roof” by the Drifters — 1963

The 1980 Rolling Stone "Illustrated History of Rock & Roll" described "Up on the Roof" as "in every way a remarkable pop song for 1962." The music magazine called the lyrics "first-rate, sophisticated writing."

5. “Will You Love Me Tomorrow” by the Shirelles— 1960

It became the first song by an all-girl group to reach No. 1 in the U.S.

6. “Take Good Care Of My Baby” by Bobby Vee — 1961

The song reached No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 in September of 1961.

7. “Chains” by the Beatles — 1963

The song was originally recorded (but not released) by the Everly Brothers.

8. "Crying In The Rain" by Everly Brothers — 1962

The song was written by Carole King and Howard Greenfield, a coworker of King and Goffin at Aldon Music. The single peaked at No. 6 on the U.S. pop charts in 1962.

9. James Taylor, “You’ve Got a Friend” — 1971

Taylor recorded the song for his "Mud Slide Slim and the Blue Horizon" album the same year King recorded it on "Tapestry." It was Taylor's first and only No. 1 Billboard hit

King has said that "the song was as close to pure inspiration as I've ever experienced. The song wrote itself. It was written by something outside myself, through me."

But both artists won with the song — Taylor took home a Grammy Award for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance, while King won Song of the Year.

While appearing on “Conan” Wednesday night, actor Andy Serkis told the late-night host he had to learn ape vocalization for his role in “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.”

Serkis reprises his role of an ape, Caesar, in the sequel to "Rise of the Planet of the Apes." Unlike the 2011 film, this movie includes talking apes.

Serkis then proceeded to act out a few of the different vocalizations he had to learn for his part.

According to Serkis, here’s what apes do when asking if the other is all right:andy serkis planet of the apes

He also had to learn how to do the ubiquitous chimp pant-hoot call which starts with low-pitched hoots before gradually building up to faster, higher-pitched pants.

After the actor invited both Conan and Andy Richter to do their best impressions, Serkis followed with an impromptu hypothetical conversation between his current character, Caesar, and his previous roles of Gollum and Sméagol from “The Lord of the Rings” series.

It’s great to watch.

How YouTube's Funniest Movie Parody Series Found Its Epic Trailer Voice

$

honest trailers transformersHonest Trailers is probably one of the funniest parody video series on the web.

The shorts offer witty commentary on popular movies including Titanic," “The Avengers," and animated films like Frozen."

Recently, the group put together a brilliant take on "The Wolf of Wall Street" that pokes fun at the film's massive amount of cursing and tropes director Martin Scorsese uses in all of his films.

“Witness Scorsese break out every Scorsese-ism in the book like a f--- ton of tracking shots, f---ing voiceover, f---ing freeze frames, multiple f---ing wives ... and an ambitious criminal main character with a short temper whose pride is his ultimate downfall.”

Check it out below:

Honest Trailers is one of two weekly shows put out by YouTube channel Screen Junkies, a property of Defy Media, formed after the merger of Alloy Digital and Break Media in late 2013. Since debuting in February 2012, Honest Trailers has racked up more than 30 million views and helped bring in 2 million subscribers to the Screen Junkies channel.

One of the staples that makes the videos so popular is the man who voices the parodies in an "epic movie trailer" voice. Viewers are asked to submit items they want to hear said in the voice and a few of them are selected and played at the end of each video. honest trailers

While you may have heard the voice, you probably don’t know the face behind it.

Enter Jon Bailey, who has been voicing the series since late 2012.

Business Insider recently spoke with series co-creator Andy Signore and Bailey, the man behind the Honest Trailers voice, to find out more about how the popular videos are put together and to learn about the face behind the voice.

It takes give or take a week to put together an Honest Trailer

honest trailer pacific rim

The Honest Trailers crew consists of a small team — series creators Signore and Brett Weiner, along with Spencer Gilbert, Gilli Nissim, and Dan Murrell. A few freelancers have been brought on to help bring together more recent projects, but there are usually four people always working on a trailer.

“It usually takes about a week’s time to watch the movie, take the notes, do our sort of group writing session, and make sure it’s funny,” says Signore. “Then Dan, our editor, takes a few days to edit it all together.”

Videos are put together based on what's popular at the moment and comment suggestions from readers.

Signore says the most difficult ones to put together have been Honest Trailers for television series like "Breaking Bad" or "Game of Thrones" because they encompasses an entire series as opposed to a singular film.

Finding the voice behind the series

jon bailey honest trailersBefore Bailey joined as the voice of Honest Trailers, the show had two previous voices. One was a comedian, Ptolemy Slocum, who does professional voice overs, but who Signore says didn't fit "the movie trailer voice." After voicing one video for "Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace" he was replaced by Gannon Nickell, who voiced a dozen videos before being called away for military duty.

“[He] had a strange, gravelly voice and it would go really deep,” says Signore. “He was able to give us that really nice, deep tone. We used him for a while, but he was in the army and got pulled to a station. He wasn’t able to record with us in LA as often.”

Signore says he then went on the hunt for a new voice, but it wasn’t so easy.

“We’re making fun of movie trailers, so I figured we’d have a hard time getting an actual official movie trailer voice to really do it for us.” says Signore.

Signore stumbled upon Jon Bailey while perusing the web. It just so happened Bailey had the real movie trailer voice Signore was searching for.

Today, Bailey has been doing professional voice overs for five years. Before, he worked a range of jobs.

"I was working as a forklift driver for a warehouse, I was working as a kitchen manager for a local burger place," says Bailey. "Somewhere around 2009 I started doing professional voice over work part time. Then at the end of 2011, the company I was working for full-time went bankrupt and they closed the warehouse I was in so I started auditioning full-time for voice over. That's right around the time where everyone started finding me on YouTube."

Now, Bailey has been doing voice overs full-time for three years. All together, he has voiced more than 100 movie trailers including TV and DVD trailers as well as network promos for series including "Community," "Breaking Bad," and "Justified."

Perfecting the Honest Trailer Voice

andy signore jon bailey
The Honest Trailers' voice wasn’t perfected overnight. It took a bit of work to find the right balance for the epic movie trailer voice.

“In the beginning, Jon was used to doing the very dramatic straight-laced voice over. Whereas, I think our version is more of a parody of the voice over in which Jon has to have even more range,” says Signore. “Thankfully, he does and that's the beauty about it.”

“Our first one together was ‘The Lord of the Rings’ trilogy and I was so used to doing normal, regular movie trailers,” says Bailey. “A lot of people were saying this looks like a movie trailer. They wanted more of a parody version so we basically went back and forth with it a little bit until we got a feel for it and then it became it's own version of a movie trailer voice but not a standard movie trailer voice.”

Fans of the trailers know Bailey changes up his voice depending on the genre. There’s a “romantic comedy voice” used for “The Notebook,” a “family voice” for “Home Alone” and “The Lion King,” and then there’s a more iconic voice reserved for action movie trailers. Bailey says the classic “in a world” type voice popularized by voice actors Don LaFontain and Hal Douglas is used for the rest of the videos.

Signore says Bailey does so many different styles of the movie trailer voice that sometimes commenters think they’ve changed the voice of Honest Trailers again.

When Bailey began voicing videos it took about an hour to record the trailers which range from four to five minutes on average. After about two years, they have it down to a science.

"When we first started, it was a lot of back and forth, and Andy would have to ask me to do it again and again a certain way to get it the way he heard it in his head,” says Bailey. “It took about 45 minutes to do it. Now we’ve knocked out like six-page scripts in 15 minutes. We're on the same page now.”

What's next for Honest Trailers

jon bailey andy signore honest trailersAfter more than 60 parodies, the show recently started a collaboration with another Defy Media property, Smosh, one of the largest channels on YouTube, to put out Honest Game Trailers every other Saturday.

However, there’s still one thing Signore would love Honest Trailers to do.

“I’m still tying to push an actual celebrity to do the Honest Trailer for their own movie,” says Signore. “I want someone who understands what we’re doing and enjoys it and is willing to make fun of themselves. We've been close a few times but they're always afraid to upset the studio or have already bailed.”

Bailey thinks it may end up being someone like Will Ferrell or Seth Rogen who not only makes the movie themselves but would see it as a good way to market the film. Of course, Ferrell has his own online comedy venture Funny or Die with which he recently used to promote “Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues.”

Still, that doesn’t mean they can’t land one of the comedians.

“I’m hoping someone someday a filmmaker or an actor will get this and be able to poke fun at themselves and have fun with it,” Signore added. “It's really all I want to do.”

Sothebys (41 of 58)

For the first time in over a decade, esteemed auction house Sotheby's held a "Rock & Roll" themed sale, offering more than 100 historically significant items.

The auction, which took place this past Tuesday in New York, included Bob Dylan's original handwritten notes for "Like A Rolling Stone," John Lennon's piano, Elvis Presley's iconic peacock jumpsuit, and guitars from Eric Clapton, the Rolling Stone's Ronnie Wood, and Kurt Cobain, many of which fetched hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Out of the 139 items on auction, 96 sold for more than $4 million in sales.

We headed to Sotheby's New York headquarters to get a special inside look at the auction, seeing everything from preparations last week to the exhibition this past weekend to the actual auction on Tuesday.

In the days prior to every major auction, Sotheby's will run an exhibition so that prospective buyers can inspect the goods. When we showed up five days before the "Rock & Roll History: Presley to Punk" auction, the Documents and Manuscripts team had just begun preparing the gallery.

They were still scraping off the lettering from the last show when we arrived.

The exhibition, which is free and open to the public, is like a museum gallery, except visitors can get much closer to the pieces.

BBC Star Said He Had Sex With Corpses And Claimed His Jewelry Was Made From The Glass Eyes Of The Dead

jimmy savile

Over the last couple of years, the BBC has been dragged through the mud as several of its former top celebrities have been accused of the sexual abuse of underage fans, while the executives around them turned a blind eye. Britain was already horrified when it emerged after the death of DJ Jimmy Savile in 2011 that he had abused hundreds of children, often during his role as a charity fundraiser for hospitals, from the late 1960s onward. (Savile's career with the BBC spanned decades.)

But Thursday the NHS released a report into Savile's activities which makes even that level of abuse look mild: Savile had sex with corpses in the mortuary of a hospital in Leeds and boasted that the gaudy rings on his fingers were made from the glass eyes of the dead, the report says.

Government officials will now turn to the questions of who knew what and when. BBC and NHS executives dating back four decades will be investigated to see if they helped or ignored Savile while they worked with him. The fallout will last years.

Lawyer Richard Scorer, who represents some of the victims, told the BBC:

... what made it even worse was the fact that many of his victims did complain, and those complaints were ignored and dismissed and belittled.

Savile had relationships with dozens of hospitals up and down the country, according to The Guardian:

On Thursday the NHS published the findings of investigations into Savile's activities at 28 hospital trusts, which concluded that he used the NHS and his celebrity status to "exploit and abuse" vulnerable patients and staff at hospitals across the country, including Broadmoor and Leeds General Infirmary. Investigators found he even boasted about having sex with corpses, and had a well known fixation with the dead.

Investigators found that at Leeds General Infirmary, where Savile worked as a volunteer porter, there were at least 60 victims, from five to 75 in age. Mainly teenagers at the time, they included men, women, boys and girls. Thirty-three were patients, and 19 of these were children. Three said they were raped.

This Is The Shot Michael Bay Uses In All Of His Movies

michael bay CES 2014

When "Transformers: Age of Extinction" hits theaters this weekend, it's bound to be another hit in Michael Bay's explosive filmography.

While Bay's films are hits with audiences grossing more than $4.6 billion dollars worldwide, they're not always loved by critics.

Yet, some do see a method in Bay's madness.

“I think that the critical revulsion that Michael Bay inspires actually is itself a kind of proof of his distinctiveness," film critic Justin Chang told Variety. "There are a million hacks in Hollywood but there’s only one Michael Bay.”

Fast-cuts, slow motion, and pyrotechnics have all been trademarks of Bay's style. However, one hallmark stands above the rest: the 360 spin shot.

Bay utilizes a 360 shot that has the camera slowly spin around one or more characters (usually the protagonists) as they come up from below frame.

One of the first uses of it was in 1995's "Bad Boys" starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence.Bad Boys, spinning shot

Bay used it again a year later with Nicholas Cage in 1996's "The Rock."The Rock, spin shot

Smith and Lawrence returned in 2003's "Bad Boys II" along with another 360 spin.Bad Boys 2 360 Shot

In 2001, Bay changed it up a bit and didn't focus on an important character but rather used it to show fighter planes flying in for an attack in "Pearl Harbor."Pearl Harbor spin shot

In 2007, Bay combined the CGI transformation of Autobot Optimus Prime with his signature shot for "Transformers."Optimus Prime 360 shot

Bay expanded the shot further in a shootout in "Bad Boys 2." Instead of focusing on a single actor, Bay used spinning to wrap around an action scene that occurs in two completely different rooms.

Bad Boys 2 shoot out spin

According to a behind the scenes featurette for the film, Bay used the spinning shot to attempt to show both sides of the shootout without cutting away.

Bay spun the cameras around the different rooms and then digitally added in the doors.

The shot has been noticed online by many (YouTube channel ScreenJunkies compiled a supercut of the shots), and while some don't find his work to be anything special, Bay isn't too worried about what the critics have to say.

"I really, really don't care," Bay told Mother Jones. "I make movies for people. I make movies for audiences to enjoy. A few sour apples are not going to spoil my fun."

Bay's next film, "Transformers: Age of Extinction" hits theaters Friday.

Actor Shia LaBeouf was handcuffed and escorted out of a Broadway performance of “Cabaret” Thursday night during the show's intermission.

The 28-year-old actor was reportedly being disruptive during the first act of the performance, smoking in the theater, and appeared to be intoxicated.

"He has been detained and charged with disorderly conduct and criminal trespass," an NYPD spokesperson told The Hollywood Reporter.

"The incident occurred at Studio 54 during Cabaret at around 9 p.m [ET]. He was acting disorderly, yelling and being loud, and is currently being held at the Midtown North police station," said the police. "He will be taken to jail tonight and will then have to appear in court."

Representatives for LaBeouf have not yet responded to requests for comment.

Broadway songwriter Benj Pasek was in the theater during the incident and tweeted about what he saw:

LaBeouf's latest incident in a string of unusual behavior this year came the night before the release of "Transformers: Age of Extinction," the first of the Michael Bay series not to star the actor.

Actors and comedians are having a field day on Twitter with the news:

A major shakeup went on at "The View" Thursday.

First, co-host Sherri Shepherd announced she was leaving the show after seven years, saying, "I look forward to the business opportunities that lay ahead for me and I am incredibly grateful to my View family and my fans."

But many are claiming the real reason behind Shepherd's departure was that ABC and the TV star could not reach a new contract deal after protracted negotiations. Shepherd is also in the midst of a very messy divorce.

Shortly after Shepherd's announcement, co-host of just one season, Jenny McCarthy, tweeted: "If Sherri goes... I go too. ."

McCarthy, who was reportedly walking on thin ice on the show already, later explained:

McCarthy's fiancé, Donnie Wahlberg, chimed in:

While Shepherd later Instagrammed:

"Mr @DonnieWahlberg always takes care of his ladies @jennyannmccarthy & me! To be continued... ;O)"donnie wahlberg jenny mccarthy sherri shepherd

Shepherd and McCarthy are both expected to finish out the show’s current season, which wraps the first week of August.

“The View” is heading into its 18th season this fall, but there may be even more shakeups on both sides of the camera to come, reports Variety.

The anonymous Middle Eastern artist Saint Hoax wanted to draw attention to the fact that many sexual abuse victims are abused by their own family members.

To do so, she made a series of extremely disturbing public service ads called the "Princest Diaries," which show Disney princesses like Jasmine and Ariel being forcibly kissed by their fathers.Jasmine Princest Diaries

Saint Hoax told the Huffington Post she was inspired to do the series after learning one of her closest friends was raped by her father when she was only seven years old.

"As an artist/activist I decided to shed light on that topic again in a new form," Saint Hoax told the Huffington Post. "I used Disney princess because it's a visual language that my targeted audience would be attracted to."Ariel Princest Diaries

"The aim of the poster series is to encourage victims to report their cases in order for the authorities to prevent it from happening again," Saint Hoax wrote on her website.Sleeping Beauty Princest Diaries

The only thing bigger than the explosions you'll see in "Transformers: Age of Extinction" this weekend, is the array of different Transformers that will appear on screen.

Before they turn into Transformers, they're just a bunch of really cool, expensive vehicles.

We've broken down how much the cars in the new film cost, ranging from $15,000 to $2.4 million.

Let's start out with the most recognizable vehicle. Here's the estimated $150,000 2015 Western Star 5700.

The 5700 won't hit the market until later this year and the exact pricing is unknown, however its predecessor, the 4900, retails for as much as $150,000 depending on configuration.

It will transform into Autobot leader Optumus Prime.

While Optimus Prime opens the film in the form of a rusted out 1973 Marmon cab-over truck, the autobot leader eventually takes the form of an awesome 2015 Western Star 5700-based semi.

We'll see two iterations of the famous Chevy Camaro on screen. This vintage modified '67 Camaro can run up to $60,000.

Even though the autobot scout originally appeared in Transformers canon as a humble VW Bug, Michael Bay's Bumblebee continues to take the form of Chevy's Camaro.

A well maintained version of a '67 Camaro SS can cost as much $60,000.

Miss Delaware crying beauty queen pageant

Less than two weeks after Amanda Longacre was crowned Miss Delaware, the 24-year-old was stripped of her crown and scholarships.

The crown controversy was caused because the Miss America Organization says contestants must be 17 to 24 years old, and Longacre will turn 25 in October.

But Longacre was truthful about her age from the start, telling NBC's "Today Show" this morning that "My birthday was written on the contract, which the board signed off on, and allowed me to compete."

Longacre insists that the board signed off on her contract on a local, state, and national level  and it wasn't until Tuesday that she was notified her age was an issue.

"I am so upset because I was stripped of my crown over an age clause that clearly my state didn't even know about," Longacre continued through tears. "And so I'm left here wondering why I was even put in this position to begin with."

Not only was Longacre stripped of her crown, but also the prizes associated with her brief title, including an $11,000 scholarship.

But the Miss America organization has already moved on, crowning first runner-up Brittany Lewis, 24, the new winner in a brief ceremony Thursday night.

The Miss America organization said in a press release Thursday: "Following the Miss Delaware Pageant, it was determined that Amanda Longacre exceeded the age requirement in order to be eligible to compete. Therefore, the Miss Delaware 2014 title is awarded to Brittany Lewis." They then tweeted:

Longacre responded to the announcement by telling "Today," "It's like they're trying to erase me in a way, like it never happened, and it's not fair because I won outright and I deserve to represent my state. I want this chance still to go to Miss America."

As for next steps, Longacre says, "I am speaking with an attorney right now and we are discussing the options."
