A 'Star Trek' writer made a 1999 prediction that absolutely nailed what technology is like today

star trek

  • A column from 1999 went viral because its predictions are dead-on.
  • You have to read it to believe it.

An 18-year-old magazine column went viral over the past week because it's just so good. The column effectively predicts the iPhone, Siri, and even Facebook's privacy scandals — all the way back in 1999.

The prediction was made by science fiction author David Gerrold, who writes novels and used to write for "Star Trek." It was shared this week by technology writer Esther Schindler. It was published in a now-defunct magazine called Smart Reseller, according to Fast Company

Check it out:

What makes this so special is that not only did Gerrold foresee smartphones, but he also clearly saw the privacy issues that have come with them.

If there's one quibble with the prescient column, it's that voice assistants — whether Apple's Siri, Google's Assistant, or Amazon's Alexa — can't really do complicated queries the way Gerrold predicted. But maybe the prediction is still ahead of its time.

15 Netflix original TV shows that critics really hate, but normal people love

Gypsy Netflix

While Netflix has won over critics with many of its original series, the company has had its share of critical flops, too.

But critical reception can often mean next to nothing to everyday viewers, who will flock to shows that critics have condemned, like the Netflix original comedy "Friends From College," or the Naomi Watts-led drama "Gyspy."

To find out which critically panned Netflix series are still beloved by audiences, we turned to the reviews aggregator Rotten Tomatoes to see which shows had significant discrepancies between their "critic" and "audience" scores on the site.

We ranked the shows by their audience scores, and we used the larger discrepancies to break any ties.

Here are 15 Netflix original shows that critics really hate, but audiences love:

45 terrible movies that today's greatest actors starred in

The Snowman

Some of the best actors alive have been in some of the worst movies of all time.

Sometimes a movie can have a good script, but everything goes wrong in production. But many times when a movie fails, everything was bad — from concept to screenplay to performance.

Even some of the best people in the business, including the likes of Meryl Streep, Leonardo DiCaprio, Denzel Washington, Julianne Moore, and Ryan Gosling have appeared in movies critics hated.

We collected a list of some of our favorite actors working today, and decided what their worst movie was. Rotten Tomatoes scores helped us make our decisions, but the lowest critic score didn't dictate the worst movie. We decided how prominent the roles were, which means we eliminated a lot of terrible movies from the start of everyone's acting career. We also considered how big the movie was, how hated it was when it came out, and how hated it is now.

Here are the worst movies the best living actors have starred in, ordered from (relatively) best movie to worst:

Snapchat roasts Facebook with a Russian bot filter on April Fools' Day

Evan Spiegel

  • Snapchat used April Fools' Day as an opportunity to roast Facebook with a funny photo filter.
  • This isn't the first time Snapchat has used April Fools' Day to poke fun at Facebook — last year it featured an Instagram-like filter.

Snapchat is having some fun at Facebook's expense on April Fools' Day.

On Sunday morning, Snapchat users awoke to find a new filter available on the app that overlays a Facebook-like design onto photos, complete with the cheeky addition of Russian-like text — a clear reference to Russian interference on Facebook scandal in wake of the 2016 US presidential election. We first noticed the filter thanks to Casey Newton over at The Verge.

Keen-eyed Snapchat users will notice the filter even features a fictitious like from a "bot," again written in Cyrillic script-like text, along with another like from "your mom," seemingly a further jab at Facebook's audience and their age relative to Snapchat's. The Verge points out that Snapchat made the same mom joke last year with its Instagram-like filter.

The filter, which will only be available during April Fools' Day, took some Snapchat users by surprise, while others took to Twitter to react to the shade clearly being thrown at Facebook.

There are a handful of Blockbusters remaining in the US, but they're moving closer to the edge of extinction — here's a look inside

North Pole Blockbuster

  • Four of the few remaining Blockbusters in the US have already closed in 2018.
  • Now, there are fewer than 10 Blockbuster locations still open in the US.
  • Three of the handful of remaining Blockbuster locations are in Alaska, where long winters and slow WiFi help keep a couple of stores open.

Blockbuster isn't extinct quite yet — but it is getting closer.

While roughly a dozen Blockbusters remained open across the US in 2017, at least four have already closed this year.

Three Blockbusters in Alaksa — long the last frontier for the retailer thanks to long winters and slow WiFi — have been shuttered since January. The most recent closure was the South Anchorage location, which shut its doors for good on April 1.

Now, only three Blockbuster locations remain open, the franchisee who owns all of the remaining Alaska locations told Business Insider. The final three Blockbuster stores in Alaska are located in Anchorage, Soldotna, and Fairbanks.

In January, the last Blockbuster in Texas — located in Edinburg — finally shut its doors, the New York Daily News reported.

Many Americans haven't seen a Blockbuster — much less gone inside — since the company filed for bankruptcy in 2010. For Blockbuster lovers desperately missing the store, and for video-rental virgins raised on Netflix, here's what it's like to visit one of the handful of remaining Blockbusters in the country.

12 comics you should read if you love the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies

$

avengers

There's no denying the Marvel Cinematic Universe is a success.

Its films are not only critically adored, but it is also the highest-grossing movie franchise ever, with nearly $15 billion globally.

"Black Panther" itself has already hit the $1 billion mark after a little over a month in theaters, and Marvel's next film, "Avengers: Infinity War," beat the Fandango record for fastest-selling advance tickets of any superhero movie.

But none of that would be possible without decades worth of comic book stories that inspire the MCU.

If you love the movies of the MCU, it's worth visiting your local comic book store and checking out what they have to offer.

Many classic Marvel storylines act as blueprints for the MCU. The planet Thor travels to in "Thor: Ragnarok?" It made its debut in an acclaimed Hulk comic book. "Captain America: Civil War?" It's loosely based on a Marvel comic-event.

These storylines can be found collected into trade paperback (or hardcover) versions at any comic book store, or they can most likely be ordered for you if they don't have it — just ask.

Below are 12 essential Marvel comic books any fan of the MCU who is new to comics should read:

SEE ALSO: 4 reasons why 'The Incredibles' is Pixar's best movie — and one of the best superhero movies of all time

"Iron Man: Demon in a Bottle" (1979)

Written by David Michelinie and Bob Layton

Art by John Romita, Jr., Bob Layton, and Carmine Infantino

You have to go back in time quite a bit for this important "Iron Man" story, but the Armored Avenger's solo films borrow heavily from it — albeit taking creative liberties.

The storyline not only introduces readers to Justin Hammer, a rival businessman to Tony Stark who is played by Sam Rockwell in "Iron Man 2," but also tackles Stark's alcoholism head-on.

While this aspect of Stark's comic book history is ignored in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it is tweaked in a way. "Iron Man 3" basically subs in PTSD for Stark's alcoholism.

"The Infinity Gauntlet" (1991)

Written by Jim Starlin

Art by George Pérez

"The Infinity Gauntlet" is considered one of, if not the, best storylines in Marvel comic history — and it's coming to theaters in less than a month.

Okay, "Avengers: Infinity War" may not be a direct adaptation of this classic event-comic, but it's obviously heavily inspired by it. The story finds Earth's heroes going up against Thanos, who has acquired the Infinity Stones, which basically give him ultimate power and the ability to bend the universe to his desires.

In "Infinity War," the Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy face a similar situation, as Thanos seeks the remaining stones he does not have. It's one of the most ambitious crossovers in movie history so lets hope it does "The Infinity Gauntlet" justice.

"Ultimate Spider-Man" (2000)

Written by Brian Michael Bendis

Art by Mark Bagley

In the late 1990s, Marvel had filed for bankruptcy, and its comics had hit a creative slump. As the company entered the 2000s, it was looking for ways to re-group.

Enter the "Ultimate Universe," a banner under Marvel Comics which aimed to re-introduce Marvel's characters for a new generation of fans. It included comics that co-existed alongside Marvel's regular comic line, but the storylines were set in a separate universe.

"Ultimate Spider-Man" was the Ultimate line's first book, and introduced readers to what this new direction was all about: telling fresh, modern takes on the origin stories of Marvel's best characters. Bendis and Bagley created over 100 consecutive issues together over the course of seven years (one of the longest runs of a creative team in comics history).

If you liked "Spider-Man: Homecoming," it's worth checking out Bendis and Bagley's original "Ultimate Spider-Man" run, as it basically set the precedent for what the MCU would do with the character — revamp him with a fresh, young, energetic spirit.

  • Dwayne Johnson battled depression for years after witnessing his mom's attempted suicide.
  • When he was 15, she walked into traffic but has no memory of the incident now.
  • In the years to follow Johnson went through several difficulties and at one point was "crying constantly."

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson battled depression for years after witnessing his mom's attempted suicide.

In an interview with the UK newspaper Daily Express, Johnson, a wrestler turned actor, said that when he was 15 his mom tried to end her own life by walking into traffic.

"She got out of the car on Interstate 65 in Nashville and walked into oncoming traffic," Johnson told the Express. "I grabbed her and pulled her back on the gravel shoulder of the road." Johnson said his mom now has no memory of the incident, but it's "probably best she doesn’t."

Johnson contended with depression for years after the incident as a series of disappointing events followed. His dream of playing professional football ended with multiple injuries, and his girlfriend at the time broke up with him.

“I reached a point where I didn’t want to do a thing or go anywhere," Johnson said. "I was crying constantly.”

Johnson found the strength to get through it, he said.

"We both healed but we’ve always got to do our best to pay attention when other people are in pain,” Johnson said. "We have to help them through it and remind them they are not alone."

On Sunday night, Johnson tweeted about the article: "Got tons of responses to this. Thank you. We all go [through] the sludge/s--- and depression never discriminates. Took me a long time to realize it but the key is to not be afraid to open up. Especially us dudes have a tendency to keep it in. You’re not alone."

Johnson went on to become a WWE champion and is one of the highest-paid actors working today. He earned $65 million in 2017. "Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle," which he starred in, was a surprise box-office hit, raking in nearly $1 billion worldwide.

Johnson will next star in "Rampage" — in theaters April 13.

Jesus Christ Superstar Live

  • On Sunday night, NBC aired "Jesus Christ Superstar Live" starring John Legend as Jesus.
  • NBC's live musicals have mostly been misses, but people loved this one.
  • People on Twitter praised the casting, costumes, and modern interpretation of the beloved musical.

On Easter Sunday, NBC aired its latest live musical, "Jesus Christ Superstar" starring John Legend. Most of the NBC's live musicals have been flops, like "The Sound of Music" starring Carrie Underwood (2013) and "Peter Pan" starring Allison Williams (2014).

But many people were live-tweeting during "Jesus Christ Superstar" and loving it (even more than NBC's last live musical, "The Wiz" in 2015).

And a lot of people watched it, too. According to The Wrap, about 9.4 million people tuned in, which is a lot more than the last live show on Fox, "A Christmas Story," which had about 4.4 million viewers in December 2017. NBC's "Hairspray Live" had about 9 million viewers in 2016.

Written by Andrew Lloyd Webber ("Cats," "The Phantom of the Opera") and Tim Rice, "Jesus Christ Superstar" was first released in 1970 as a concept album. The musical explores the humanity of Jesus, and in it he feels frustration about his own faith and his followers. Years later, it's one of those musicals that high schools all over the United States perform.

People praised NBC's live version of the beloved musical for embracing its weirdness, even adding Alice Cooper to the cast as King Herod. The set featured scaffolding and the modern costumes included racer back tank tops and sequins.

  • Netflix shares are falling deeper into a correction.
  • Netflix took a hit in March after the Facebook data breach.
  • It took another hit after a Trump tweet threatening to crack down on Chinese investment into US tech.

Netflix shares plunged deeper into a correction Monday, down as much as 4% in the morning, to an intraday low of $283. The tech-heavy Nasdaq was seesawing Monday morning, currently down 1.8%.

Netflix hit an all time high of $331 on March 9, and has since fallen more than 10% from that mark, as several events have given investors pause. A massive data breach of Facebook user accounts roiled markets on March 19. Netflix fell during that week, and then was hit hard again after Trump said that he would crack down on Chinese investment into tech companies, sparking fear among investors that such a move could hurt Netflix.

The massively popular free-to-play video game 'Fortnite' is out for iPhone and iPad now – Android coming soon

Fortnite (mobile)

  • "Fornite: Battle Royale," the massively popular free-to-play video game, is now available for all iPhone and iPad users. This general availability follows an invite-only testing phase.
  • An Android version is coming in the "next few months."
  • The mobile version of the game will allow players to battle against console and computer players.
  • It'll also allow "Fortnite" players to play the game wherever they bring their mobile devices – away from the constraints of home consoles and computers.

Developer Epic Games announced on Monday that its massively popular "Fortnite" game is available to play on iOS devices for everyone.

This general availability marks the end of an invitation-only testing phase which began in March. Now, you don't need a special invite to play "Fortnite" on your iPhone or iPad.

The game will work on the iPhone SE, 6s, 6s Plus, 7, 8, X, iPad Mini 4, iPad Air 2, the 2017 iPad, and iPad Pro. It won't work on the iPhone 5s, 6, 6 Plus, iPad Air, iPad Mini 2, iPad Mini 3, or the iPod Touch. Your iOS device also needs to run on iOS 11.

Epic Games also announced in March that the Android version of the game will come out over the "next few months."

"Fortnite" is a battle-royale style game, where 100 online players fight against each other on a large map to become the last survivor. On several levels, "Fortnite" is similar to "PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds"– often known as "PUBG" – which is another massively popular battle-royale style video game. "PUBG" was also released for iOS and Android in March.

"Fortnite" is free to play on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, and Mac, and is played by around 45 million people. A whopping 3.4 million people were playing the game concurrently at one point in February. Bringing the game to iOS and Android devices will surely raise number of players to even higher levels.

Fortnite: Battle Royale

"Fortnite" players will be able to play cross-platform when the game becomes available on mobile devices. That is to say, a player using an Xbox will be able to play with another player using a mobile device, like a smartphone or tablet. Bringing the game to mobile devices will also let gamers play "Fortnite" wherever they bring their mobile devices, not just on their home consoles or computers. All that's needed is an internet or data connection.

Epic Games claims the mobile version of the game brings "console quality graphics and action." It'll be interesting to see how mobile device players fare against console and computer players who arguably have the advantages of a larger screen and greater gaming controls.

  • John Oliver took aim at Sinclair Broadcast Group on Sunday after a viral video last week showed dozens of the company's local TV news anchors reciting a speech about "false news."
  • The video follows a CNN report describing how Sinclair forced its nearly 200 local news stations to air "must run" promotional packages akin to "pro-Trump propaganda."
  • In the video, the anchors recite a speech about "the troubling trend of irresponsible, one-sided news stories plaguing our country."
  • Oliver, who has previously called out Sinclair for its "noticeably conservative" bias, played the full video on Sunday and said Sinclair anchors sounded like members of a "brainwashed cult."

John Oliver took aim at Sinclair Broadcast Group on Sunday's "Last Week Tonight" after a Deadspin video showing dozens of the company's local TV news anchors reciting a speech about "false news" went viral last week.

The video follows a CNN report last month describing how Sinclair forced the nearly 200 local news stations it owns to air "must run" promotional packages akin to "pro-Trump propaganda."

In the Deadspin video, the anchors recite a speech about "the troubling trend of irresponsible, one-sided news stories plaguing our country," echoing President Donald Trump's consistent bashing of news outlets' coverage of his administration as "fake news."

Oliver, who in July dedicated an episode to calling Sinclair out for its "noticeably conservative" bias, played the Deadspin video on Sunday night's episode.

"Nothing says 'we value independent media' like dozens of reporters forced to repeat the same message over and over again like members of a brainwashed cult," Oliver said.

The White House hosted its 140th annual Easter Egg Roll on Monday, welcoming roughly 30,000 people to participate in activities like lawn bowling, egg decorating, and storybook reading.

Melania Trump spearheaded the event, as is tradition for the first lady.

"On behalf of the Trump family, many of whom are with us right here in the audience, I just want to thank you," President Donald Trump told the crowd. "This is a special year. Our country is doing great. You look at the economy; you look at what's happening. Nothing is ever easy, but we have never had an economy like we have right now. And we're going to make it bigger and better and stronger."

The first Easter Egg Roll was hosted by President Rutherford B. Hayes in 1878. The event is a joint effort among the White House, the White House Historical Association, and the National Park Service.

And it always yields amusing photos.

Amazon's big entrance into making video games has been cancelled (AMZN)

  • Amazon quietly killed development of "Breakaway," its upcoming online sports video game.
  • Reps for the game's development team said it's "no longer in active development" on Reddit over the weekend.
  • Nothing specific is cited for the cancellation. "We didn’t achieve the breakthrough that made the game what we all hoped it could be," the statement reads.

When Amazon isn't selling home goods, or creating electronics, or any of the dozens of other things the company does, it occasionally makes video games. Amazon even went as far as to buy a game studio, Double Helix, back in 2014.

But it looks like Amazon's biggest video game project in the works has been cancelled.

The game — "Breakaway" — is "no longer in active development," according to a letter on Reddit attributed to the "Breakaway" development team.

No specific reasons are given for the game's cancellation.

"In spite of our efforts, we didn’t achieve the breakthrough that made the game what we all hoped it could be," the note says. "After a lot of soul searching, the team decided to focus on new ideas."

Breakaway (game)

"Breakaway" was first introduced in 2016 alongside two other games in development from Amazon Game Studios — the umbrella name for all of Amazon's game development production.

It was said to be a "mythological sports brawler" where you played as one of several archetypes of heroes (seen above). The focus of the game was moving a ball towards an opposing team's goal, with each team made up of four human players.

More importantly for Amazon, "Breakaway" touted integration with  Amazon's Twitch game streaming service and its many community participation features. Game streamers could invite viewers to games, for instance — it was billed as a game built for the new world of video game streaming.

Here's the full note from Amazon's "Breakaway" development team: Amazon Game Studios, Orange County (formerly Double Helix):

"Hey Everyone—

We wanted to update you on the development of Breakaway.

Since our last announcement, we have worked to implement community feedback and iterate on Breakaway’s core gameplay. While we have developed many ideas and made a lot of progress, we are also setting a very high bar for ourselves. In spite of our efforts, we didn’t achieve the breakthrough that made the game what we all hoped it could be. After a lot of soul searching, the team decided to focus on new ideas. As a result, Breakaway is no longer in active development.

We remain exceptionally proud of the team’s work, and feel privileged to have been a part of such a dedicated and enthusiastic community. We will reach out to this channel as soon as we have news to share regarding our new projects, and if a thunderbolt of inspiration strikes that leads us back to Breakaway, you’ll be the first to know.

Thanks,

The Breakaway Team"

Goldman Sachs' COO reportedly used his side gig as an EDM DJ to help win Spotify's business

  • Goldman Sachs COO David Solomon, the heir apparent to CEO Lloyd Blankfein, has a well-publicized side-project as an EDM DJ, going by the stage name DJ D-Sol.
  • In the run-up to Spotify going public on Tuesday, the music streaming service will have spent up to $50 million for the advisory services of banks like Goldman.
  • Solomon reportedly made a "personal plea" in Goldman's pitch to Spotify that referenced his DJ side-career.

Spotify is going public on Tuesday, and in the lead-up to its IPO, the music streaming service will have spent up to $50 million for the advisory services of banks, according to a Recode report.

Goldman Sachs COO David Solomon, the heir apparent to CEO Lloyd Blankfein, was reportedly eager to earn Spotify's business by touting his personal musical experience. Two sources told Recode that Solomon made "a personal plea" in the bank's pitch to the Spotify that referenced his side-project as an EDM DJ.

The pitch worked, and Goldman has been involved in an advisory capacity to the company as it approaches its IPO.

Solomon's side-career as DJ D-Sol has been well-publicized since last year. The Goldman executive has previously even shared a concert stage with EDM stars like Paul Oakenfold.

Great to get some time on the decks at #theEMAwards.

A post shared by DSol (@djdsolmusic) on Sep 23, 2017 at 8:32am PDT on

In October, Solomon described himself as a lifelong audiophile intrigued by the modern music industry, on an episode of the podcast "Exchanges at Goldman Sachs":

"Five, seven years ago, I started really kind of taking note of club and EDM music and what was happening with all the electronic music, and I said: This is really interesting. Big business. And started looking at it, and I said: You know, I like some of this music. And started playing around with it, started reading about these DJs that really had these incredible platforms, and I said: You know what? This looks interesting. And kind of stumbled into it as a hobby, and now I just do it for fun."

  • Actor Seth Rogen said on "Ellen" Monday that adult film actress Stormy Daniels told him of her alleged affair with President Trump nearly a decade ago.
  • Rogen said Daniels described it to him when she appeared in cameo roles for Rogen's movies "The 40-Year-Old Virgin" and "Knocked Up."
  • "At the time, when you ask a porn star who they've been sleeping with and the answer was Donald Trump, it was like the least surprising thing that she could've said," Rogen said.

Actor Seth Rogen said on Monday that adult film actress Stormy Daniels told him of her alleged affair with President Trump "around 10 years ago."

Rogen appeared on "Ellen" and said Daniels described the alleged affair to him when she appeared in cameo roles as a stripper in Rogen's movies "The 40-Year-Old Virgin" and "Knocked Up."

"I've known Stormy Daniels a long time, and I'll be honest, she may have mentioned some of this stuff around 10 years ago," Rogen said. "At the time, when you ask a porn star who they've been sleeping with and the answer was Donald Trump, it was like the least surprising thing that she could've said."

"Again it wasn't — at the time — wasn’t that surprising and then, as [Trump's] campaign rolled out, it became clear that no one cared about anything he did," he continued. "So, it didn't really occur to me even that it would come out or that anyone would care about it, but then when I saw it, I was like, 'Oh, yeah, Stormy told us all about that.'"

Daniels has alleged that she had a sexual relationship with Donald Trump in 2006. She described in an interview with "60 Minutes" last month that she received a physical threat to "leave Trump alone" in a 2011 encounter.

Michael Cohen, Trump's longtime personal attorney, has acknowledged paying Daniels a $130,000 "hush agreement" in October 2016, but The White House and Cohen have repeatedly denied the affair took place.

  • Model and entrepreneur Karlie Kloss opened up about her relationship with Josh Kushner, brother of Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner, in an interview with Porter magazine.
  • Kloss said she has nothing to hide, but likes having a private life.
  • Kloss and Josh Kushner rarely talk about their relationship — and their politics, which are known to be at odds with Trump's.

Model and entrepreneur Karlie Kloss is finally talking about her long-term relationship with Josh Kushner, founder of Thrive Capital and brother of Donald Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner.

In an interview with fashion magazine Porter, from its summer issue (out April 6), Kloss explained why she is so secretive about her relationship with Kushner, who she has dated since 2012.

Kloss said she has nothing to hide, but just likes "having a more private private life."

"It’s not like I’ve ever wanted to be so secretive about my private life," Kloss told Porter. "Carolina Herrera always says, ‘A woman who’s an open book is boring.’ There’s no mystery anymore. I know in my life what really matters to me. I’m not trying to hide that from the world; I just really like having a more private private life. I’ve got nothing to hide, though!"

While Kloss remains tight-lipped on her relationship, her politics are known to be at odds with Trump's.

She tweeted in 2016 that she voted for Hillary Clinton, stating, "One of the greatest privileges we have as Americans is a voice. I’m proud to say I did my part, now it’s your turn" with the hashtag #ImWithHer in support of Clinton.

And Josh Kushner recently posted multiple photos on his Instagram in support of the pro gun control March For Our Lives rallies — a rare show of political opinion since Trump's election victory. The day before the march he posted a photo with the hashtag #IWillMarch. And after the march, he posted a photo of Kloss holding a sign that reads, "Load minds not guns."

Donald Trump Jr. and his estranged wife, Vanessa Trump, crossed paths on Monday at the annual White House Easter Egg Roll— the couple's first public appearance following their high-profile uncoupling.

Last month, Vanessa Trump filed for divorce after 13 years of marriage with Trump Jr. They have five children, who were partaking in the Easter festivities on Monday.

Trump Jr. was documenting the event on Instagram, though Vanessa Trump does not appear in any of his photos.

The two were recently at the Mar-a-Lago resort for their children's spring break, and they both posted photos on social media from their vacation in West Palm Beach, Florida.

According to People magazine, the couple primarily planned separate events so they could each spend time with their children. A source told People they were spotted "talking pleasantly" at the resort.

The past two weeks have seen an avalanche of news coverage of their relationship over the years.

Soon after the divorce filing, the New York Post's Page Six and Us Weekly reported that Trump Jr. had an affair with the singer Aubrey O'Day in 2011 while Vanessa Trump was pregnant with their third child.

Other articles theorized that O'Day had made multiple references to the affair over the years, including a 2013 song titled "DJT" and a 2012 tweet of her feet intertwined with those of a man.

The reports can't have made Easter an especially enjoyable holiday for the Trump family. The look on Trump Jr.'s face seems to indicate the Egg Roll hasn't quite been the light-hearted event one would hope it would be.

  • North Korean leader Kim Jong Un made a surprise appearance at a K-pop concert in Pyongyang after some speculation over whether or not he'd actually show up — and he reportedly loved it.
  • Kim and his wife saw South Korean K-pop group Red Velvet, Girls' Generation member Seohyun, and many others play at a "Spring is Coming" concert that he gave rave reviews of.
  • Kim's enjoyment of a show put on by South Korean performers show how much things have changed.
  • His father, Kim Jong Il, kidnapped South Korean performers and North Korea still puts citizens to death for watching South Korean media.

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un made a surprise appearance at a K-pop concert in Pyongyang after some speculation over whether or not he'd actually show up — and he reportedly loved it.

Kim and his wife Ri Sol Ju saw South Korean K-pop group Red Velvet, Girls' Generation member Seohyun, and many others play at a "Spring is Coming" concert that appears to have captured his imagination.

"When such good atmosphere is preserved carefully and continuously, only the beautiful spring when new buds sprout and flowers blossom and the rich autumn when the crops are abundant will always be in the way of our fellow countrymen," Kim said, according to North Korean media.

Kim even told a South Korean performer he'd like to return the favor with a show in South Korea called "Autumn is Coming," according to NK News.

"Please tell [South Korean President Moon Jae-in] that how great an event like this is," Kim reportedly said, also explaining that he reworked his busy schedule to see Red Velvet.

Kim and his wife watched the performance with South Korean officials including Minister Do Jong-whan of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, who said Kim "showed a lot of interest while asking about songs and lyrics during the South's performance," according to NK News.

The performance also included some North Korean songs which were greeted with loud applause. And, as the event took place in Pyongyang, Kim himself was loudly applauded by the crowd.

Kim's surprise visit to the show underscores a massive change in North and South Korean relations. Under Kim's father, Kim Jong Il, North Korea kidnapped South Korean artists to help film propaganda movies.

In North Korea, citizens can be sentenced to death for simply possessing South Korean media. When South Korea used to air drop in media like DVDs, North Korea would respond extremely harshly.

But now, as tensions begin to thaw and Kim goes on a diplomatic offensive meeting with heads of state for the first time, his tone seems to have shifted.
