The potential economic damage from Hurricane Sandy is currently estimated at around $50 billion, including property damage, lost business and extra living expenses.

While millions are displaced and/or without power, entertainment conglomerates and celebrities are doing their best to encourage employees and fans to donate to the cause—and they're putting their money where their mouth is.

See what Time Warner, News Corp., Disney, Viacom and Chelsea Handler have donated below:

  • The conglomerate will also donate $500,000 to the Mayor's Fund to Advance New York City and another $500,000 to other organizations serving victims in the tri-state area.
  • Additionally, Time Warner will match U.S. employee donations to Sandy relief efforts up to a specified, undisclosed amount.
  • “In addition, Cast Member and employee eligible donations to organizations involved in disaster relief will be matched, dollar for dollar, by Disney Employee Matching Gifts: A Program of The Walt Disney Company Foundation,” the company said in a statement.
  • New Jersey-native Chelsea Handler donated $100,000 to the Red Cross for Hurricane Sandy relief after actor John C. Reilly asked viewers for donations Wednesday while a guest on her E! talk show.
