There were some blockbuster celebrity purchases in 2011, starting with the new L.A. bachelor pad of former-Friends star Matthew Perry.
The still-single Perry purchased a slick midcentury home in the Hollywood Hills complete with infinity pool, outdoor living room, fanciful sculptures, a $27,000 Australian-made garage door.
This place might have the single coolest media room of all time, with a screen that raises to reveal views of city lights and a perspex portal that peers into the pool. Perry paid ,$8.65 million, more than $1 million off the asking price. For more celeb scoops, check out the gallery above.

Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen have been trying in vain to unload their high-dollar Boston condo, but have pressed ahead in the construction of this massive mansion in Brentwood, Calif. Estimated cost: $20 million.
Twangy pop star Taylor Swift bought a couple of homes this year: a modestly-sized L.A. colonial for $3.35 million and this Greek Revival mansion in Nashville, Tenn. for $2.5M. The stately home was built by U.S. ambassador to Denmark Guilford Dudley Jr. back in 1934.
