Tesla burns way more cash on R&D than traditional car makers (TSLA)

$

0

Tesla makes popular cars. They look good, they’re generally reviewed well, and they’ve been at the forefront of the electric vehicle and self-driving initiatives spreading throughout the auto industry. All this while its CEO dabbles in an ongoing effort to colonize another planet.

To push its master plan forward, though, Tesla's had to burn through a whole lot of cash. As this chart from Statista shows, Tesla invested roughly 18% of its revenue into research and development last year. That’s nearly three times as high as most traditional car companies.

As you might imagine, pumping that much money into new tech means Tesla isn’t as much of a profit machine as most of those rivals. Whether or not its expenditures will eventually pay off is still up in the air, but as it prepares to announce a new product on Wednesday, remember that Elon Musk is very much playing a long game.

Bruce Springsteen says 'toxic' Donald Trump 'knows he's going to lose'

Bruce Springsteen thinks Donald Trump is "toxic" — though he predicts he won't actually make it to the Oval Office.

"He's going to lose," the New Jersey rocker told UK's Channel 4 News of Trump's presidential run. "And he knows that. He knows he's going to lose. And he's such a flagrant, toxic narcissist that he wants to take down the entire democratic system with him if he goes."

"He simply has no sense of decency, no sense of responsibility about him," Springsteen continued.

Springsteen is referring to Trump's claims that the election is "rigged," a message he has doubled down on since his vulgar comments about women in an "Access Hollywood" tape recently surfaced.

"[Trump] does have a lot of people's ears," Springsteen said. "I don't think he's going to go quietly, gently into the good night. I think he's going to make as big a mess as he can. And I don't know what that's going to mean, but we'll find out shortly."

Springsteen echoed similar concerns in a September interview with Rolling Stone, in which he called Trump a "moron."

"Well, you know, the republic is under siege by a moron, basically," he told the magazine then. "The whole thing is tragic. Without overstating it, it's a tragedy for our democracy."

Why Michael Moore's surprise movie about Donald Trump is a convincing ad for Hillary Clinton

$

Trumpland Dog Eat Dog

I talked to Michael Moore earlier this year during the election primaries when it was looking very evident that Hillary Clinton was going to beat Bernie Sanders (whom Moore supported) to become the Democratic Party's presidential nominee. I asked Moore whether he would support her should she take the nomination.

He told me Clinton would have to convince him, along with other ardent Sanders proponents, that she deserved the support and that he would then "act accordingly."

It seems Moore is doing just that with the surprise film he premiered Tuesday night at New York City's IFC Center, "Michael Moore in TrumpLand."

The 75-minute film — which he put together on a spit and polish just 11 days ago and locked hours before it played Tuesday night — is a taping of a one-man show Moore did in a theater in conservative Wilmington, Ohio. In the show, he pleads his case for why you should vote for Hillary Clinton, even if you hate her.

Business Insider saw the movie Wednesday morning, and though it can get aggravating at times, especially if watching Moore do his shtick for over an hour isn't your thing, there are powerful moments.

The question now is whether "TrumpLand" will get into the hands of the undecideds for whom it was made.

Michael Moore Kevin Winter Getty

Moore knows that if you already support Clinton or Trump, nothing about "locker-room talk" or WikiLeaks is likely to change your mind. But he wanted to address the movie to those who are still trying to decide whether they will go for one of the major candidates, vote third party, or refrain from voting altogether — and tell that group why Clinton isn't all that bad.

"TrumpLand" starts off with Moore's usual routine of bringing satire to politics. He's got a Mexican section in the audience blocked off by a fake wall and a Muslim section being monitored by a drone. It's to keep the Trump supporters in the audience "comfortable," he jokes.

This part of the movie falls flat and is rather boring to watch.

But there is a moment, about a half-hour in, when Moore changes tone and begins to read something he said he wrote the morning of the show, in which he makes the case for why Trump supporters are right to vote for him.

Jobs are going overseas, Obamacare isn't effective, basically the system sucks. But then Moore compares that to the hypothetical days and weeks after the election, if Trump is elected, and brings up how the UK feels since it voted to leave the European Union. The promises made never happened, and everyone wants a do-over.

Moore acknowledges he's never been much of a Clinton supporter and has never voted for her or her husband. And he never comes out to say he's going to vote for her in this election, but he does paint a picture for why Clinton deserves the White House more than Trump.

Among the reasons were her dedication to the welfare of children her whole life, her attempt as first lady to bring universal healthcare to the US, and just the flat-out abuse she's had to take over the years (whether as a woman working in a male-dominated world or dealing with her husband's infidelities). To address that, Moore also includes an excerpt from a commencement speech Hillary made at Wellesley College while a student in 1969 in which she speaks on the challenges of being a young woman with the hopes to have all the advantages of a man.

"TrumpLand" is far from Trump-bashing. Instead, it's Moore attempting to bring a likability to Clinton that it seems even her own campaign cannot manage to pull off.

Moore's efforts would fall on deaf ears if the movie played only in New York. Following the screening on Wednesday, Moore came onstage for a Q&A session and said the movie would also be shown in Los Angeles beginning on Wednesday along with other theaters around the country (the number is apparently still growing), and he hopes to have the movie available for streaming within 24 hours, though there have yet to be specifics on which providers will carry it.

Here are links to the dates and times the movie will play at the IFC Center and Laemmle's Town Center 5 in Los Angeles starting Wednesday.

Jia Yueting LeEco

Next year, LeEco — the so-called "Netflix of China," best known in the U.S. as the company that paid $2 billion for Vizio— will be taking on Netflix and Hulu here in America, as announced on stage at a special event in San Francisco.

The new service, called LeEco Live, will include shows from partners like Showtime, and movies from partners like Lionsgate. It will launch early next year, but we have no information about price or specific availability.

LeEco is hyping up its existing partnerships in show business, thanks to its core business in China, as a big key to stocking the new service with TV shows and movies people will actually want to watch.

LeEco started off as a streaming video service, but has since expanded to TVs, virtual reality headsets, smartphones, and even electric car concepts.

The company says LeEco Live is designed to work with all of those devices, with a consistent experience across all of them — in a demo, LeEco showed someone using a two finger-swipe to take a Showtime video playing on their LeEco smartphone and seamlessly stream it to their Vizio TV.

Netflix, especially, is relatively entrenched in America, so it won't be easy for LeEco to break in. But LeEco is already dominating China, and that might be enough momentum to give LeEco Live a fighting shot when it launches in early 2017.

In general, LeEco is making a huge push into the American markets, including with smartphones and TVs. So watch this space.

Why Tom Cruise hasn't made a superhero movie

jack reacher never go back tom cruise

Say what you want about Tom Cruise and his Scientology practice, but he's one of Hollywood's last true movie stars. In an era when hardly anyone is a bankable bet, Cruise's name generally certifies a certain high threshold at the global box office.

So why hasn't the action star dipped his toes into superhero movies, the biggest game running right now at the international box office?

Jimmy Kimmel was curious about it himself, so he asked Cruise about the topic when the actor appeared on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" to promote his new Jack Reacher movie "Jack Reacher: Never Go Back." Specifically, he wanted to know if Cruise has had any talks with Marvel or DC about a possible role.

It turns out it's been a nonstarter for Cruise.

"No," Cruise told Kimmel. "Look, I really enjoy those films a lot. But I make the 'Missions' and the 'Reachers.' Just different kinds of films."

Indeed, as a star and a producer of both the "Mission: Impossible" and "Jack Reacher" franchises, Cruise has staked his name on slightly more realistic (only slightly) action fare than what he see in the comic-book realm.

And it sounds like Cruise doesn't want to change up his formula any time soon.

You can watch Tom Cruise answer Jimmy Kimmel's question below:

The ‘Netflix of China’ just barged into the US with two high-value smartphones

LeEco LePro 3

Chinese tech firm LeEco made its grand entrance into the US market on Wednesday, and among the various gadgets it showcased are a pair of new smartphones: the $399 LePro 3, and the $249 Le S3.

Both devices appear to be good value for the money.

The LePro 3, for one, appears to follow in the footsteps of similar $400 flagships from fellow Chinese companies OnePlus, Huawei, and ZTE.

It’s got a 5.5-inch 1080p display, a Snapdragon 821 processor (the same that’s in Google’s high-end Pixel phone), 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, and a massive 4,070mAh battery. A 16-megapixel main camera and 8-megapixel rear camera join that, and the whole thing is cased in an aluminum, relatively slim design.

The Le S3, meanwhile, appears to be equally competitive for the lower midrange market. That also comes with a 5.5-inch 1080p panel, but brings things down to a slower Snapdragon 652 chip, 3GB of RAM, and 32GB of storage.

There aren't many immediately apparent weaknesses on those spec sheets, but one thing you won't find on either phone is a headphone jack. LeEco actually beat Apple to the punch by omitting the jack on these phones' predecessors, but you'll still have to use Bluetooth, a dongle, or one of the few USB-C headphones on the market to listen to music.

We'll also have to see how far LeEco's "eui" skin goes in modifying Android.

Jia Yueting LeEcoLeEco has been dubbed the “Netflix of China” in the past, but it’s spent aggressively in recent years to expand beyond its popular “LeTV” video streaming service. Today, it’s in everything from televisions — a segment it bolstered after acquiring TV maker Vizio earlier this year — to self-driving cars.

It formally entered the smartphone market just last year, but now it's making a big push beyond its home country. These first two phones do look appealing, but it's worth noting that LeEco didn’t announce any plans to buy them through a carrier. This should limit their popularity, considering that's by far the dominant method of buying smartphones in the US.

Both phones only work on GSM networks, too — that's fine if you're an AT&T or T-Mobile users, but not so hot if you prefer Verizon or Sprint.

Nevertheless, both the LePro 3 and Le S3 will be available through LeEco's online store on November 2.

Samsung has 'Grand Theft Auto' exploding phone video removed from YouTube

Poor Samsung. A month and a half after its brand new Galaxy Note 7 phones were recalled after their batteries started exploding, the debacle is still a punchline in the tech world.

One of the more amusing results of this scandal was a "Grand Theft Auto V" mod made by an enterprising player that turns sticky bombs into Galaxy Note 7s. That's it. It just re-skins an existing weapon in the game to look like a cell phone for the sake of a topical tech joke.

Apparently, Samsung didn't find it too amusing. According to The Verge, the original YouTube video showcasing the mod has been removed due to a copyright claim.

GTA V mod exploding Samsung Galaxy Note 7

It's obviously very understandable why Samsung wouldn't want this mod to exist. However, filing a copyright claim on a YouTube video that merely shows what the mod looks like seems like a bit of a reach, even if there is legal standing behind it.

Thankfully, one of the best and worst things about the internet is that nothing that has been put there can ever be truly removed. The original video is gone, but several others exist in its place.

If you want to see the exploding Galaxy Note 7 "Grand Theft Auto V" mod in action, here's another video uploaded by a different user:

This flowchart shows how the looped narratives work in 'Westworld' for robots

Dolores Abernathy in Sweetwater Westworld

Warning: Spoilers ahead for "Westworld.""Westworld" partially takes place in a gigantic theme park where guests can interact with hosts (robots), all of which are operating on a scripted narrative. Entering the park is almost like working one's way through a "Choose Your Own Adventure" book, but with hyper-realistic robot humans who are also trapped in a looped script.

HBO created a website — "Delos Incorporated" — which is designed to look like the official Westworld employee site. They've already released a handy map of the corporate offices through the site, and now there's a useful GIF that shows how Dolores' narrative loop works.

Take a look:

Dolores narrative loop Delos Westworld

We'll walk through each step one-by-one.

Dolores wakes up at Abernathy Ranch

This happens every day, which means the control room at Delos Incorporated must have a way of verifying that Dolores is back in her bed before each morning. If she's not, they'll intervene.

Dolores waking up Westworld episode threeEach morning Dolores is supposed to walk outside, have a conversation with her father on the porch, then head into town and go to the General Store. She buys groceries, including a can of milk.

Dolores drops the can of milk

Again, Dolores is scripted to drop the milk every day. What happens next all depends on whether or not someone picks it up for her.

Dolores and Man in Black with milk Westworld Here the loop splits into three choices. Either a guest picks up the can for Dolores, Teddy picks it up, or Dolores grabs it herself.

Guest picks up the can

If a guest happens upon Dolores, the narrative assumes they'll want one of two things: to "woo" her or to "menace" her. If the guest successfully woos her, then they'll be invited home to the ranch for dinner, and it's up to the guest how the evening ends.

If the guest menaces Dolores, then Teddy might intervene and "rescue" her. But if the menacing guest kills Teddy, or Teddy never shows up at all, the guest can have their way with Dolores.

Dolores picks it up herself

If Dolores is left to grab the can herself, she'll then pack up and ride out to the riverbank. There, she will paint the pretty horse scene, and serves as a more "family friendly" narrative for the afternoon. If someone stumbles upon her, they'll have a pleasant conversation about horses or the like, before Dolores heads home.

Westworld Dolores and young guest with horses

Teddy picks up the can

This is the scenario we watched play out in the very first scene of the pilot. Teddy picks up the can, and he and Dolores ride off into the countryside for some good ol' fashioned flirting. Then they go back to the ranch before it gets too dark outside.

Dolores Bernathy and Teddy Flood talking Westworld

After Dolores heads home

If Dolores goes home alone after painting there are two possibilities. Either "all is quiet," she eats dinner, goes to sleep, and the narrative resets, or there's an attack at the ranch.

If Dolores goes home with Teddy, there are similar outcomes. Either Peter Abernathy (Dolores' father) will make Teddy leave, and then Dolores goes to sleep and resets the narrative, or there's an attack at the ranch.

Attack at the ranch

So far in the show, the ranch has been under attack almost every time Dolores comes home. The attack is always coordinated by other hosts, but sometimes a guest is with them. According to the flowchart, if it's a "skilled guest" then the narrative ends with Dolores' parents killed and Dolores herself is left to the mercy of whatever the guest wants.

The guest might play "good guy," saving Dolores from the bandits and comforting her. Or the guest might be one of the more menacing types.

Teddy and the Man in Black opening episode WestworldBut if an "amateur" guest is with the bandits, then the flowchart breaks into two more options. Either Teddy is with Dolores, in which case he might save Dolores by killing the hosts attacking and scaring off the guest.

If Teddy is absent, the attack plays out and the narrative is reset.

What this means for Dolores

After seeing her narrative mapped out, the purpose of Dolores' presence the park is very clear. She's the sweet "girl next door" combined with a "damsel in distress." A guest can, depending on the point in her narrative, either pick her up and go home for a sweet dinner, or perhaps rescue her from a bandit attack and be her hero.

Any guests looking to torment and exercise power can also use Dolores' loop against her. They might help the bandits attack and then have their way with her, perhaps after fighting Teddy and killing him.

Dolores shocked Westworld episode threeBased on what we've seen in the show, Dolores rarely has a peaceful afternoon painting and then goes home for a quiet dinner and good night's sleep. More often than not, someone takes advantage of the "attack" narrative. It's no wonder she's beginning to rail against her programming.

HBO may continue rolling out Easter eggs on its marketing sites, so keep a close eye on Delos Incorporated and Discover Westworld for more.

The brutal 'honest trailer' for 'Ghostbusters' picks apart all the reboot's flaws

$

ghostbusters

The new "Ghostbusters" became much bigger than just a movie when a mob of people decided to attack it online earlier this year. Now the "honest trailer" for the film has arrived to remind us of the real flaws with the film.

It's a sharp criticism of the movie, but it takes at least as much aim at the critics who exhausted themselves "trolling" the all-female-starring reboot from the beginning, like Donald Trump.

Still, the trailer argues, the resulting film did turn out to be a "lame," "studio-mandated" franchise entry you could lump in with some of the summer's other unexciting blockbuster fare (the new "Independence Day," a new "Tarzan"). And it also calls this among writer-director Paul Feig's "B material."

"I’m not gonna lie to you guys," the narrator tells us. "I mean, it’s not as bad as they said it was gonna be, but still, it’s pretty bad."

Among the flaws according to this trailer: a cast with "no chemistry," awkward cameos from the original stars that have no connection to the previous films (even though it takes place in the same universe?), a rehashed plot, and everyone vying to be the "comic relief."

But the honest trailer saves it harshest words for the (truly awful) theme song, a cover of the original by Fall Out Boy with a wasted Missy Elliott guest appearance. (How you can ruin a song that good is a question that can perhaps never be adequately answered.)

"I know a lot of us are divided over this film, but let’s take a moment to agree on one thing that actually deserves all that hate: the Fall Out Boy cover song," the narrator says.

Watch the honest trailer for the 2016 "Ghostbusters" below:

BuzzFeed's CEO just made an explosive claim about Ivanka Trump's own alleged lewd language

Ivanka Trump

On Wednesday, BuzzFeed founder and CEO Jonah Peretti expressed surprise that Ivanka Trump would be shocked by the lewd language her father used on the leaked "Access Hollywood" tape.

"I met her once & she casually said: 'I've never seen a mulatto c--k, but I'd like to!'" Peretti wrote in a tweet.

The tweet, which Peretti later confirmed was indeed sent by him, spread like fire across the internet during the last weeks of what has already been a heated and at times surreal US Presidential election. And it provoked a strident denial by the daughter of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.

“I am not sure if this was meant to be a joke, but in case there is any ambiguity, this is a complete and total lie," Ivanka Trump said in a statement sent to Business Insider.

Peretti later told BuzzFeed News a bit more about the alleged encounter, which he claimed happened about a decade ago at a Manhattan bar in front of about five other people.

Peretti said he hadn't revealed the quote before because it was personal, but that he felt it was relevant because of comments Ivanka Trump had made at Fortune's Most Powerful Women Summit about being taken aback by Donald Trump's language.

“She was saying how she first said she had never seen an uncircumcised c--k and then she said, ‘I’ve never seen a mulatto c--k. There’s lots of c--ks I’ve never seen,’ or something like that,” Peretti told BuzzFeed.

“Of course, it was memorable just because of the use of the lewd language and racist language," he continued. "It was also memorable being in the environment of being … in New York, sometimes liberal and progressive people make comments meant as jokes and not necessarily earnest. I didn’t know how to take it."

Peretti's initial tweet about the incident set Twitter ablaze. BuzzFeed Editor-in-Chief Ben Smith even tweeted, "Is there a doctor on this flight @united," seemingly in response to Peretti's comments, which were apparently made while Peretti was aboard a flight.

Peretti did not respond to a request for comment. BuzzFeed pointed us to its article.

IT'S OFFICIAL: Nintendo will unveil its next video game console on Thursday morning

With one tweet, Nintendo has finally answered the prayers of video gamers all over the world: The Nintendo NX, the legendary company's next console, will officially be unveiled on Thursday morning.

Thursday morning at 7am Pacific Time, Nintendo will unveil the first trailer for the NX, after months of impatient waiting, rumors, and speculation. The console is expected to launch by March 2017.

The word on the street is that the Nintendo NX will be a unique hybrid games console— a powerful portable games system that can plug into a TV and become a full-fledged gaming console, too. We know that top-shelf blockbuster games like "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" will be coming to the NX, whatever form it takes.

Nintendo's most ardent fans have been waiting for the official announcement of the NX with baited breath for over a year now, taking any scraps of new information they could find and driving themselves crazy over each new morsel. For those passionate fans, the wait is finally coming to an end.

And not a moment too soon, either: Nintendo has been struggling to adjust to the reality in the era of the smartphone, and needs a hit more than ever. The Wii U, Nintendo's current-generation hardware, is widely regarded as a flop, with a mere 13 million units (to the leading Sony PlayStation 4's 40 million-plus) sold as of June.

Why Netflix shouldn't be scared of the 'Netflix of China' and its splashy US debut — yet

$
0
0

Jia Yueting LeEcoOn Wednesday, the sprawling Chinese tech company LeEco, known as the “Netflix of China” for getting its start in streaming video, made a splashy debut in the US with products that ranged from phones to TVs to streaming services.

Two of the big services that piqued people’s interests were LeEco’s video offerings: EcoPass, a Netflix-like service that also includes cloud storage, and LeEco Live, a streaming TV product. Given LeEco’s history in streaming video, the question is whether had a chance to challenge heavyweights like Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu on their own turf.

LeEco was vague on the details of both services, but pumped up its “content partners” like Lionsgate, Showtime, Vice, and so on. LeEco also said that its existing partnerships in show business were a big key to stocking the new service with TV shows and movies people will actually want to watch, my colleague Matt Weinberger reported. Its Chinese library contains over 5,000 movies and 100,000 TV episodes, Wired noted.

On stage Wednesday, LeEco did a demonstration of how its video can work across all devices in the LeEco ecosystem. In a demo, LeEco showed someone using a two finger-swipe to take a Showtime video playing on their LeEco smartphone and seamlessly stream it to their Vizio TV (which LeEco owns).

That's nifty. But what does Showtime’s “partnership” with LeEco actually entail?

“It just means that the Showtime app is going to be preinstalled on all of the LeEco smart TVs, so no need for customers to download at their app store,” a Showtime spokesperson told Business Insider. “They’d still have to subscribe as they normally do.”

So it’s basically the same as having the Showtime app on your Apple TV or Roku.

What about Sling TV, another announced partner? “Our relationship with LeEco is similar to other Android TV providers,” a spokesperson said. So again, you still have to subscribe separately. The same is true for Seeso and IndieFlix, both also announced at the event.

It appears that many of the content partners touted at LeEco’s event aren’t giving any special treatment to LeEco’s service. And none of the relationships are exclusive, according to Wired.

Lionsgate

One company that is different is Lionsgate. Lionsgate is licensing a significant number of library films and television series to LeEco Live.

At the event, Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheime described the company’s relationship with LeEco. “It started with ZZ and Le Vision distributing our films in China,” he said. “I’ve got to admit, they did such a great job that some of those films did even better in China than they did in the US … I’m pleased to announce today that we have also reached an agreement to license a significant amount of content to the new LeEco Live platform here in the US.”

It remains to be seen exactly which Lionsgate shows and movies will appear on the platform, but the takeaway from it all is that LeEco doesn’t seem to have, for now, put together the type of streaming service that could compete with the big guns. This is especially true since streaming companies like Netflix have begun to focus on exclusivity and original content to differentiate themselves.

Part of LeEco's lack of exclusive content might be strategy. In China, LeEco built its business starting from streaming video and then expanding into phones, TV, bikes, and even cars. But in the US it seems to be doing the opposite.

“In the US they’re doing it almost backwards. They’re coming out with hardware first and building their US-specific content library,” Current Analysis research director Avi Greengart told Wired.

We’ll see how that develops, but for now, it doesn’t seem like Netflix has much to fear.

Additional reporting by Matt Weinberger.

This is our first look at the brand new game from the studio behind 'Grand Theft Auto'

The folks behind "Grand Theft Auto" unveiled a new game this week: "Red Dead Redemption 2."

The long-awaited sequel to 2010's "Red Dead Redemption" is another take on America's wild past — you're a cowboy in the Old West, and the Old West is a massive open-world environment (just like "Grand Theft Auto"). The game is heading to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 next fall, but Rockstar gave the world its first look at the game in a trailer released on Thursday morning:

The "Red Dead" series is beloved by gaming fans, for its vivid storytelling as much as its massive open-world. Like "Grand Theft Auto," you're in control of a protagonist from the third-person perspective, and you navigate a massive open-world with missions, side missions, and all sorts of ridiculous characters.

The next game in the "Red Dead" series is apparently a direct sequel to the last game in the series, though we have very little information to go on right now. It sure does look gorgeous though, eh?

The movie star went on Corden's "Late Late Show" and the two acted out what seemed to be Cruise's entire filmography, down to almost every single starring credit — from early highlights like "Cocktail," "Risky Business," and "Top Gun" on down to "Eyes Wide Shut," "Vanilla Sky" and every entry in the "Mission: Impossible" franchise. Even "Rock of Ages" got a shoutout.

It was a manic, gleeful rundown. But the highlight is surely when Cuba Gooding Jr. shows up on the set in the middle of Cruise and Corden doing the "show me the money" scene from "Jerry Maguire." (Gooding Jr., of course, actually acted opposite cruise in the Oscar-winning film.)

"If you're going to do it, let me do it right," Gooding Jr. said, before acting out the scene with Cruise himself.

While he made news for refusing to accept the presidential election results, Donald Trump won't even concede to losing the Emmy race — twice.

During Wednesday's presidential debate, Hillary Clinton apparently hit a soft spot for the real-estate mogul when she highlighted his history of alleging that the election is "rigged," and furthermore his history of calling contests generally rigged if they don't go his way. That even touched on his time hosting "The Apprentice."

"There was even a time when he didn't get an Emmy for his TV program three years in a row," she said. "He started tweeting that the Emmys were rigged."

To which Trump interjected, "I should've gotten it."

In response, the Television Academy, which awards the Emmys, responded to Trump's accusations on Wednesday night, along with an infographic showing how an Emmy is won.

NBC's "The Apprentice" was nominated for eight Emmys, two of which were for outstanding reality competition in 2004 and 2005 (so Clinton was slightly off when she said it was three years). It lost on both occasions to CBS's "The Amazing Race."

He actually complained about the 2004 loss on "The Apprentice" about 11 years later on a January 19, 2015 episode, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

"I got screwed out of an Emmy," Trump said on the episode. "Everybody thought I was going to win it. In fact, when they announced the winner, I stood up before the winner was announced. And I started walking for the Emmy. And then they announced the most boring show on television, [CBS's] 'The Amazing Race.' Piece of crap."

So in the event that Trump loses the presidential election, he could keep us waiting a long while for his concession speech.
