Anne Hathaway Ellen

Anne Hathaway hosted this weekend's "Saturday Night Live," with her most memorable sketch being her impersonation of Katie Holmes in an "Ellen DeGeneres Show" interview.

Hathaway, who has now hosted the show three times, also impersonated Holmes during a 2010 episode.

During this weekend's sketch, DeGeneres, played by Kate McKinnon, asked "Holmes" what she has been up to lately.

"If you read US Weekly you know Suri and I spend every waking moment at the zoo," "Holmes" said.

And when asked about the paparazzi's obsession with her and her daughter, innocent-looking "Holmes" had a not-so-friendly response.

"Well, on one hand, they're just doing their jobs, but one the other hand, if they come near my daughter, I will cut them," the actress said.

DeGeneres tweeted that she found the sketch funny, but no word on what Holmes thought.

Saturday Night Live's Final Mitt Romney Sketch Was Hilarious

Jason Sudeikis made one final appearance as Mitt Romney in the cold opener of Saturday Night Live this week, mocking what the Republican presidential candidate might have done after conceding to Barack Obama last week.

Basically, Sudeikis' Romney goes on a milk bender as the whole cast of GOP characters — including Ann Romney, the Romney boys, and Karl Rove — come out to offer their final words.

It's actually hilarious. Watch the video below:

Daniel Craig Says He Wants Rihanna As The Bond Girl To His 007—If He's Forced To Stay In The Franchise

Daniel Craig Rolling Stone

Daniel Craig scored the biggest "James Bond" opening at the box office this weekend in the franchise's 50-year history.

After opening Friday, "Skyfall"—the 23rd film in the franchise— has already earned a whopping $518.6 million worldwide.

But that doesn't mean Craig is happy with his current Bond mission and the two films after "Skyfall" he is contracted to do.

The actor reveals to Rolling Stone, “I’ve been trying to get out of this from the very moment I got into it. But they won’t let me go, and I’ve agreed to do a couple more, but let’s see how this one does, because business is business and if the [bleep] goes down, I’ve got a contract that somebody will happily wipe their ass with.”

Unlikely anyone will be using Craig's contract as toilet paper after the box office success of "Skyfall," but if he does stay to finish his mission, Craig has a request for a Bond girl.

GlobalGrind.com asked the 44-year-old actor who would make a better Bond girl between Beyoncé and Rihanna. Craig chose 24-year-old Rihanna because "she's dirtier."

Perhaps Craig hasn't seen the singer in "Battleship."

What Victoria's Secret Hunts For When Hiring Supermodels

victoria's secret fashion show 2012

Booking the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show is every model's dream.

In addition to unprecedented exposure and perks, the job often leads to bigger and better things.

But there are qualities even more important than good looks when Victoria's Secret hires its supermodels, reports Sapna Maheshwari at Bloomberg

Les Wexner, the head of Limited Brands, seeks out new models with great personalities, she reports.

“The models chosen are very specifically ones that women can relate to or feel comfortable around and have personalities,” said Marcie Merriman, director of brand strategy and planning for Victoria’s Secret from 2001 to 2003.

Merriman cites the examples of Tyra Banks and Heidi Klum. Both models got their start at Victoria's Secret and went on to host television shows.

Runway models' relationship with a brand is almost always over once they walk the show. But the Victoria's Secret models' personalities are also important during the hundreds of press interviews and events they host leading up to the show

Of course, the brand is also very picky about what its models look like. The Victoria's Secret casting director famously dissed Sports Illustrated cover model Kate Upton, saying she wasn't beautiful enough for the brand.

'Lincoln' Helps Bring $60M And Over 1K Jobs To Virginia

Daniel Day Lewis Abe LincolnWith Virginia's 15 percent to 20 percent refundable tax credit, many Hollywood productions are taking advantage of the state's less expensive shooting locations—and it's seriously boosting the local economy.

Clint Eastwood’s "J. Edgar" and Ben Affleck’s "Argo" recently shot in the state prior to Steven Spielberg's "Lincoln."

Together, the A-list productions have helped create 1,166 jobs and brought in $60 million in state and local tax revenue.

During a news conference at the historic Byrd Theatre in Richmond, Va., before a screening of "Lincoln" hosted by the Virginia Film Office and Tourism Corporation, Gov. Bob McDonnell discussed the benefits of the state's budding film industry:

"The increase in jobs and revenue from Virginia’s film industry is encouraging and demonstrates the effectiveness of our state’s incentive programs for film production. It is particularly significant that the industry has added 1,166 jobs during the past year and contributed nearly $60 million in state and local tax revenue. Thanks to the bipartisan effort to put in place policies attractive to the industry, Virginia continues to land major films, like Steven Spielberg’s 'Lincoln.'"

At the same press conference, Chris Dodd, chief executive of the Motion Picture Assn. of America, told reporters how having large film crews eat in local restaurants and stay in local hotels has been beneficial for the entire state:

"For the three months that 'Lincoln' filmed here in Virginia, it brought tens of millions of dollars into the state – hundreds of men and women in the cast and crew stayed in hotels, ate in local restaurants, and shopped in local retail stores. During the course of this film being made, the production company used Virginia film industry vendors to construct the sets, purchase authentic props, rent equipment, provide catering, and so much more. That’s money for Virginia businesses and jobs for Virginia workers."

"Lincoln," which cost about $65 million to produce and stars Daniel Day-Lewis as the 16th president, has already earned $900K in the past three days at the box office—and it was only released in 11 theaters.

Louie C.K.

"Louie" fans no longer have to wait until 2014 to see their favorite comedian on TV.

HBO announced earlier today that they will air a Louis C.K. stand-up comedy special in 2013, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The special will be directed and produced by the comedian himself (Dave Becky and Blair Breard will also be involved in production).

The special will be filmed during one of the stops on his 16-city tour, which he is currently in the midst of.

"This comic genius remains one of the freshest voices on the scene, and HBO is proud to provide an uncensored forum for his provocative humor," said HBO programming president Michael Lombardo.

The 2013 special marks C.K.'s fifth partnership with HBO, one of which was 2006's "Lucky Louie," the network's first multicamera comedy series.

C.K.'s most recent stand-up special was "Live at the Beacon Theatre," which aired on FX. The show was edited and released only four weeks after its recording. C.K. initially self-distributed the special on his website for $5.

The comedian tweeted that he will do the same thing for his upcoming HBO special.

Here's How Anne Hathaway Lost 25 Pounds For Her Role In 'Les Misérables'

Anne Hathaway Vogue

A healthy looking Anne Hathaway graces the cover of the December issue of Vogue, in which she opens up about losing 25 pounds from her already-slim frame for her role as Fantine in the upcoming movie musical, "Les Misérables."

After first losing ten pounds with a cleanse, the 29-year-old newlywed actress then spent two weeks eating nothing but ... dried oatmeal paste.

During a two-week break in filming, Hathaway lost an additional 15 pounds by only eating two thin squares of the dried oatmeal paste per day.

“I had to be obsessive about it — the idea was to look near death,” Hathaway revealed to Vogue. “Looking back on the whole experience — and I don’t judge it in any way — it was definitely a little nuts. It was definitely a break with reality, but I think that’s who [my character] Fantine is anyway.”

After filming wrapped, Hathaway says she was in “a state of deprivation — physical and emotional" and " I couldn’t react to the chaos of the world without being overwhelmed. It took me weeks till I felt like myself again.”

Anne Hathaway Les MiserablesBut Hathaway eventually began to feel like her old self with the help of her new husband, Adam Shulman.

“He gets what I do and who I am and supports me in it, and that’s pretty awesome,” she tells the magazine, adding that they share “true love — the full-on romantic, till-death-do-us-part real deal.”

While she won't be sticking to the oatmeal diet, Hathaway did say she's into her new, shorter 'do.

“I love the short-haired lifestyle. I’m turning 30, and — I hope this isn’t obnoxious to say — feel prettier, and much more myself. I guess I just feel much more satisfied with less now.”

Now watch Hathaway's opening monologue spoofing "Les Misérables" during this weekend's "Saturday Night Live":

Three Dark Knight Rises Posters That Didn't Make The Final Cut

$

Just when we thought we couldn't see any new images of the Caped Crusader from "The Dark Knight Rises," three previously unreleased poster concepts for the film have emerged.

Trailer Park worked on both key art and posters for the last film in Nolan's trilogy. (You'll know them from posters such as this one.)

Here's a look at three unused one sheets that didn't make the final marketing cut. We don't mind the first two; however, we're at a loss with the third.

Check them out below:

the dark knight rises poster
We imagine the heavy repetition of the word "rise" in both this and the next poster is meant to parallel the chants of the same word in the trailers.

the dark knight rises bane
The above reminds us a lot of this poster

Then there's this:

the dark knight rises poster
Are those teeth

We're guessing this is supposed to resemble Bane's headgear; however, it comes across looking more like Venom's mouth from Spider-Man.

Plus, the word fear seems out of place. The only thing Batman really ever had to "fear" was the Scarecrow's fear gas. Given the trajectory of the third film, "reckoning" may have proved more fitting.

Let us know what you think of the poster concepts. Should Warner Bros. have included any of them in the film's marketing?

GLENN BECK TO REPUBLICANS: The Tea Party Is 'Doubling Down'

$

Since his departure from Fox News almost a year and half ago, conservative media icon Glenn Beck has been markedly absent from the political landscape.

But in the wake of last week's Republican defeat, the Tea Party leader has message for those in the political Establishment who are already writing his movement's obituary: We're not going anywhere.

In a remarkably sedate address to viewers of his daily online talk show last week, Beck offered a candid apology for wrongly predicted a Romney victory, and urged conservatives not to despair at the loss:

"We're not going to sit and wallow in it, we're not going to point fingers, we're not going to yell at anything," Beck said. "What we're going to do is what Americans always do is pick ourselves up by the boot straps, take stock of what happened and move on."

And later, he added this warning to the party:

"I have to tell you, I think the only one that is in real trouble is the GOP," he said. "It's Karl Rove and the Establishment Republicans that spent half a billion dollars and look where they got. We were making signs, and showing up at rallies and calling our neighbors and friends — which one really wasted their treasure? We didn't waste our time because we connected with people and we know what we are."

"I believe we have to double down on what we've started."

12 Things You Didn't Know About James Bond

50 years of james bond

"Skyfall" just saw the highest opening weekend of any James Bond film earning a huge $87.8 million at the U.S. box office.

However, how much do you know about the secret agent of MI6?

Sure, you may know this isn't REALLY the 23rd film in the franchise, and that Bond's been around for more than 50 years–59 to be exact, but we bet you didn't know Bond was almost a woman on screen.

We read through LIFE's "50 Years of James Bond" to uncover some of the spy's dirty laundry.

The 176-page book details many great tidbits from 007's cars to gadgets, and shares behind-the-scenes photos of creator Ian Fleming and the many Bond men and women.

Here are a few items you may not know about 007.

"Skyfall" isn't technically the 23rd Bond film.

There are 25 James Bond movies in all.

There were two non-Eon production films–the 1967 parody film "Casino Royale" and Sean Connery's "Never Say Never Again" in 1983.

(50 Years of James Bond)

Bond's first appearance was not in the 1962 film, "Dr. No."

Before his theatrical debut, 007 made his entrance in a television episode of Climax Mystery Theater on October 21, 1954.

CBS paid Fleming $1,000 to show the hour-long adaptation of his novel Casino Royale.

(50 Years of James Bond)

James Bond was nearly Jane Bond.

Producer-director Gregory Ratoff and screenwriter Lorenzo Semple Jr. found the male James Bond to be unbelievable for the film adaptation of Fleming's "Casino Royale."

Ratoff nearly wanted Susan Hayward to play the role of Jane Bond.

Paula Broadwell's Ghostwriter Had 'No Idea' About The Affair

$

vernon loeb

Paula Broadwell’s affair with CIA Director David Petraeus has long since become the spiciest of DC gossip stories, with just a little bit of national security risk to add to the tawdriness.

However, for a torrid affair that seems to have been going on for some time, one thing sticks out about the relationship between Petraeus and Broadwell – namely, very few people seem to have suspected its existence. In fact, according to none other than Broadwell’s co-author on her biography of Petraeus – Washington Post editor Vernon Loeb – the relationship seemed almost outlandishly difficult to imagine. Loeb writes about his bewilderment in today’s Washington Post, describing Petraeus and Broadwell as seemingly the least likely people to have an affair, least of all with each other:

I never anticipated the extramarital affair between David H. Petraeus and Paula Broadwell, the woman I’d worked with for 16 months on a book about Petraeus’s year commanding the war in Afghanistan. On rare occasions, her good looks and close access would prompt a colleague to raise an eyebrow about their relationship, but I never took it seriously.[...]

I assumed, given how public their semi-official relationship was, that he would never engage in any risky behavior. He’d always preached to his protégés that character was what you did when no one was watching. And he would always hasten to add, from his most public of perches, that “someone is always watching.”

There was no protégé more ardent than Broadwell.

Nevertheless, the “protege” and her teacher appear to have dropped their standards when it came to each other. Though it is easy to tell whence Loeb’s confusion comes from, reading his description of Broadwell, who – far from the tabloid-esque accounts of a spoiled “prom queen” – comes off, indeed, as a very unlikely “other woman” for the closest thing America has to a modern day war hero. Though, given these passages, perhaps her different from most tawdry women in these situations was part of the appeal:

What was she like? Professional, relaxed and clearly excited about the material she had for me in her big, comfortable house in a stately North Carolina neighborhood. She spoke with great affection about her husband, a surgical radiologist whom she’d met in the military, and her two young sons, whom she clearly adores.[...]

I always thought that Broadwell’s motives were pure, and I always wondered why Petraeus was granting her the access that he did. The two must have seen a lot of themselves in each other — they shared the West Point bond, an addiction to physical fitness and running and an uber-optimistic, never-say-die outlook on life.

From there, Loeb does not speculate, but this portrait of the two arguably makes the picture even more tragic. Instead of a case of a craven fame-seeker seducing a great man, or a short-sighted narcissist seeking a mirror for his own self-perceived glory, this story, as Loeb tells it, seems to be a case of two people who should have been good falling far from even their own standards.

Jon Stewart's Petraeus/Broadwell commentary was inevitable, but seeing him include himself in the lambasting was something special.

'Halo 4' Earned $220 Million In One Day

Halo's Master Chief is on another winning spree for Microsoft

Last week's highly-anticipated release of "Halo 4" opened to $220 million in one day sales globally, making it the bestselling game of the year so far and bringing the franchise to an estimated $3 billion in sales.

In comparison, Ubisoft's "Assassin's Creed III," released October 30, earned at least $200 million in its first week.

According to Microsoft, "Halo 4" is expected to reach $300 million in sales in its first week.

The number wouldn't be a surprise, considering more than 10,000 stores in 40 countries opened last Tuesday at midnight for the game's release.

The basic copy of the game sells for roughly $59.99 in the U.S. while the Limited edition version of the game starts at $99.99.

Looking at the regular edition of the game, that's 3.7 million copies of the game alone.

Here's a look at what the other sequels in the series earned globally opening day:

Halo Reach (2010): $200 million / sold more than 3 million in its first month

Halo 3 (2007): $170 million / 3.3 million copies in its first 12 days

Halo 2 (2004): $125 million / 2.4 million copies
(At the time, Microsoft Vice President Peter Moorethought one-day sales of the game would total $100 million.)

Since 2001, the game has sold a total of 46 million units and has earned more than $3 billion in sales.

In April, original game creator Bungie said 235,182 years have been spent playing the video game.

Jon Hamm Daniel Radcliffe

At first glance, the new trailer for British miniseries "A Young Doctor's Notebook" looks like a parody skit out of "Saturday Night Live."

The opening scene of the trailer shows "Harry Potter" star Daniel Radcliffe and "Mad Men" actor John Hamm in a small bathtub together, with Radcliffe asking Hamm to pass him the loofa.

The miniseries, based on a short story collection by Russian playwright Mikhail Bulgakov, takes place in a small Russian village in early 1917 during the dawn of the Russian Revolution.

Radcliffe plays a younger version of Hamm, a doctor reevaluating his life and career through a series of dialogues with his younger self.

The miniseries, produced by Playhouse, is set to air in Britain on December 6th. No word yet if the show will also play in the U.S.

'Today' Show Shakeup: Jim Bell Out As EP, Alexandra Wallace In As First Woman Ever

Today Show

After NBC's "Today" show has consistently fallen behind ABC's "Good Morning America" in the ratings since Ann Curry's ousting in June, the morning show now led by Matt Lauer and Savannah Guthrie has just made some big behind-the-scenes changes.

Executive producer Jim Bell, who took much of the heat for the Ann Curry mess and the rough transition that followed, will leave the morning program for a full-time position at NBC Sports, where he’ll be executive producer of the network’s Olympics coverage, according to NYT.

Bell, who has been at 'Today' since 2005, spent 16 years with NBC Sports & Olympics and worked on every Olympic Games NBC has broadcast since 1992.

Alexandra Wallace, a veteran NBC News executive, will take Bell's place as EP of the four-hour-long show, along with another yet-to-be-named producer.

Jim Bell NBCWallace will be coming fresh off an executive producer gig on Brian Williams’ "Rock Center," but no word on when exactly she will take the reigns.

When Wallace does step into the role, she "will be the first woman ever put in charge of the “Today” show — a milestone for the media industry because “Today” invented the morning television format 60 years ago," reports NYT.

Considering women make up about 65 percent of the “Today” audience, sounds like a good move.

As for Bell, who will be returning to his sports roots, he told The Hollywood Reporter as recently as late September:

“I’m very happy where I am. I think part of the daily grind here is you don’t allow yourself to think grand or long-term thoughts. We’re just sort of plugging along with [Today]. I love the show; it’s been part of my life. I can’t speak beyond that.”
