Jay Z is 'fully supportive' of Beyoncé's 'Lemonade' and what it says about him

beyonce lemonade

Since it aired on HBO last Saturday, everyone can't seem to stop talking about the visually stunning and emotionally charged visual album "Lemonade" by Beyoncé.

A big reason for that is many believe the whole album is an hour-long examination of the infidelity of her husband, Jay Z, and their marital troubles.

Now in a lengthy piece by E! on why Beyoncé made "Lemonade," an insider told the network that Jay Z was well aware of the album and its content.

"He is fully supportive. He understands the reasoning," the insider source said. "This is part of the process of being transparent. And they have healed. He has been very humble about the experience. Beyoncé is the love of his life and he will do what it takes."

The story notes, according to insiders, that Jay Z knew all the songs and approved them before the release.

In regards to the cheating implications, a source told E! that "Jay is all about self-expression, so he gets it."

"Lemonade" chronicles the ups and downs of a relationship, starting off with rage and ending with forgiveness. The story points out that, following the HBO airing, Beyoncé celebrated with her family, including her husband at her side.

"When Beyoncé put this album together, she was aware of the message she was sending out," an insider told the network. "She knew that people were going to dissect each word. Beyoncé wanted to connect with women's emotions with this album."

The visual album is currently available on iTunes and Tidal.

Gisele Bundchen last runway show

Gisele Bundchen is indisputably a top model.

In fact, she's the world's highest paid supermodel, according to Forbes.

Forbes estimated that between June 2014 and 2015, she earned about $44 million.

But took awhile for her to get her career off the ground.

She recently disclosed to People that after moving to New York at age 16, it was extremely hard for her to get work.

"I was going to castings daily, but work was still very slow," she said to the magazine.

She revealed that it took a whopping 42 rejections before she had her big break with an Alexander McQueen show in 1998.

She also faced lots of criticism in the nascent stages of her career.

"I remember some people telling me my nose was too big or my eyes were too small, that I could never be on a magazine cover," Bundchen said to People. "It wasn't easy to be 14 and hear that kind of criticism. It made me feel insecure."

Her father offered her some advice.

"I told my dad, and he said, 'Next time, tell them, I have a big nose and that comes with a big personality,'" she said to People. "At that point I felt, if I kept working hard and giving my best, it would all work out."

Now, Bundchen is one of the most esteemed models out there; she's a brand in of herself. She's also associated with many high-profile gigs, most notably her lucrative position as a Victoria's Secret Angel, which she held until 2007.

Though she no longer is walking the runway, she's definitely not running out of work anytime soon. Right now, she's helping Under Armour's women's business explode.

Authorities are reportedly focusing on painkiller use in investigation of Prince's death

Authorities investigating Prince’s death are putting their focus on the question of whether painkillers played any part in the music legend’s mysterious passing on April 21 or the medical emergency that forced his private plane to land in Moline, Illinois, days before, according to the Star Tribune.

Several sources have told the newspaper that painkillers may have taken a toll on Prince in his final weeks.

A source told the Star Tribune that the reason for the emergency landing in Moline after Prince played two concerts in one night in Atlanta was an overdose on an opioid. Once the plane landed, Prince was reportedly given an opioid antidote and was taken to the hospital. He left within a few hours.

Attorney Michael Padden told the Star Tribune that Prince’s siblings, Lorna Nelson and Duane Nelson, had discussed with him Prince’s problem with Percocet and cocaine over a decade ago.

“Lorna told me that her brother would die young... before his time and of a heart attack,” Padden said in a videotaped interview with the Star Tribune.

Lorna Nelson died in 2006 and Duane Nelson died five years later.

But other reports conflict the idea that Prince was abusing drugs.

Prince’s former band member and close friend Sheila E. has said she’s “never seen him take anything, not even aspirin, in the 38 years I’ve known him.”

Prince’s personal assistant and valet from 1984 to 1992 said, “I’ve never known of any opiate or cocaine problem. There’s no way you can do both of those and be as driven as he was. I never saw it.”

Prince AP 3Padden has filed several lawsuits against Prince in the past, including one in which he represented Duane Nelson against Prince after Duane was fired by the musician.

Padden has spoken with the police about the allegations of Prince’s drug use, according to the Star Tribune.

“All I can tell you is that his sister independently corroborated every single thing Duane said to me,” Padden told the newspaper. “It wasn’t like I was proactive seeking information.”

Prince’s final official cause of death likely won’t be made public for weeks as authorities wait for reports from the medical examiner and toxicology results.

The breast cancer survivor who starred in Beyoncé’s ‘Lemonade’ reveals what it was like to work with the star

paulette leaphart leomande

In a section of Beyoncé's "Lemonade" titled "Hope," a woman stands in a dark room looking towards the light. That woman is Paulette Leaphart, and she never imagined meeting Beyoncé, let alone appearing in a video with her.

"It was kind of strange the way things happened," Leaphart told INSIDER.

She had taken her 8-year-old daughter to audition for a secret video, when she was approached about a part in it. She wasn't prepared to do an interview on camera, so she asked them to watch a trailer she was in instead.

That trailer was for a documentary called "Scar Story," which follows Leaphart, who has had a double mastectomy, on a 1,000 mile topless walk from Biloxi, Mississippi, to Washington, D.C., in order to raise breast cancer awareness.

paulette leaphart leomande"[The casting director] saw it and she started crying and hugged me, and asked if she could pass it along to the directors," Leaphart said. "I knew [the video] was for a superstar, but she couldn't tell me who."

The casting director called Leaphart that same night asking to book her.

Leaphart was initially skeptical. "I told her, 'I don't know if I can agree to something that I don't know what it is.' She told me, 'Trust me. You want to be a part of it.'"

She still didn't know what she was getting into when she arrived at the New Orleans set and started filming. That is until she was approached by a figure disguised in a black hoodie.

It was Beyoncé herself.

"She came in, took her hoodie off, and I was like 'Oh my God, it's Beyoncé.' I was shocked because I wasn’t expecting to meet her. She wasn’t shooting, but she came in to meet me, and she embraced me and held my hand."

They talked about the video and Leaphart's topless walk, and Leaphart suggested that Beyoncé could join her for a block. The singer proposed a mile instead.

Leaphart dismisses rumors about Beyoncé being cold and conceited, calling her "normal and sweet."

"The thing that really touched me about Beyoncé was that she treated me humbly," she explained. "We were on set sitting around the table and she thanked God for everybody that was a part of it, because she said everybody was supposed to be there."

paulette leaphart leomandeLeaphart calls Beyoncé an artist, and said she connected with her "as a human being and a female who has flaws."

She spent three days on set, and also appeared in scenes for "Freedom." She met numerous people during that time, including Jay Z and Blue Ivy, Serena Williams, Treyvon Martin's mom, Michael Brown's mom, Quvenzhané Wallis, and Zendaya.

When Leaphart watched the final product on HBO she cried.

"I knew it was going to be powerful, but I had no idea," she said. "I had chills the size of grapes. I didn’t know it was going to come out like that. It’s a masterpiece."

She said "Freedom" is her favorite song on the album because she understands what it means to be free.

"I don’t have to worry about people talking about me because I lost my hair and breasts, and because I’m not what society deems sexy or beautiful," she said. "I’m free to express myself. I love me, so say what you gotta say. I’m not ashamed of my scars. I still think I'm beautiful and sexy. Breasts don't define me; I define me."

A judge has confirmed previous reports that Prince did not have a will at the time of his death, according to People.

The magazine obtained court documents about a hearing held Wednesday, in which the judge approved Bremer Bank to handle Prince's estate, worth approximately $250 million.

The documents say that Bremer Trust has been tasked to "preserve the estate and to secure its proper administration until a general Personal Representative is appointed by the Registrar or by the Court," according to People.

Prince's sister Tyka Nelson, 55, had previously asked for Bremer, the institution Prince trusted with his finances for years, to oversee his estate following his passing.

Because Prince did not have a will laying out how his assets and expenses should be handled, Prince's estate could have a potentially "messy" future, as one lawyer told Business Insider.

Mark Zuckerberg hints that you'll be able to chat with celebrity 'bots' on Messenger (FB)

$

Robots

You could soon start talking to your favorite movie star, politician or other big celebrity on Facebook's Messenger.

Or at least, you might be able to talk to the celebrity's "chatbot."

Chatbots are pieces of software that live inside messaging apps, answering questions posed to them by humans and handling certain tasks, like making dinner reservations.

When Facebook launched new tools for creating smart chatbots earlier this month, the company's focused on how it could revolutionize the way you communicate with businesses.

You can use bots in Facebook's chat app to order flowers, check your flight status, or get the weather.

But on the call for Facebook's blockbuster Q1 earnings, CEO Mark Zuckerberg introduced a use-case that the company hadn't mentioned before:

Having public figures take advantage of Messenger bots.

When one analyst asked about the future of Messenger, Zuckerberg called out bots as being able to make messaging "a lot faster for people who want to interact with businesses and public figures."

A Beyonce Bot?

Although Zuckerberg didn't elaborate beyond mentioning public figures alongside businesses several times when talking about bots, it's interesting because Facebook has previously discussed bots in terms of their utility, whereas public figure bots seem like they'd be more geared towards entertainment.

Maybe you want to ask Beyonce what her favorite movies are at the moment? Or perhaps you want to know a celebrity chef's favorite restaurant in a certain city.

Theoretically, celebrities might be able to create special chatbots that can answer such questions.

Before Messenger Platform rolled out widely, Facebook did test letting users message Miss Piggy, a character from The Muppets.

Another obvious hypothetical situation for a celebrity bot versus a business bot would be presidential candidates. Similar to how Google lets them publish directly to search results to make their views on specific issues easier to find, candidates could automate bots to send their views when prompted by users on Messenger.

Tracy Morgan remembers the time he got thrown out of a party at Prince's house

Tracy Morgan was once kicked out of a star-studded party at Prince's house.

The comedian considers himself a Prince superfan since the 1982 album "1999."

He told Billboard magazine that the singer's 1985 song "Condition of the Heart" helped him through the grief of his father's death.

"I remember when my pops died [in 1987]," he said. "I listened to 'Condition of the Heart' as soon as we got back from the burial, for 24 hours [in a row]. That was the last song I said, 'Dad, listen to this!' And my father said, 'That's a good record.'"

Fast-forward to about 2009: Morgan said he boarded a bus to a party at Prince's then home in Los Angeles. "Jennifer Lopez, everybody was on this bus," he said.

At the party, Prince performed for his guests in the living room. And there was plenty of alcohol flowing, which Morgan said he certainly took advantage of.

But it seems the "30 Rock" alum overstayed his welcome:

At the end of the night, me and my boy Bradley were drunk. We had these two girls on the sofa and we were talking, joking, laughing. Prince and his wife came downstairs and they had on purple pajamas. He said, "Tracy, get the f--- out!" As I walked out the door, I grabbed him by the back of the neck and I pulled him close to me. I noticed that mole on his face — he was so pretty, I turned gay for about five seconds — and I said, "My father loved 'When Doves Cry.'" And he said, "Yeah, yeah. Just get the f--- out."

On how Prince influenced the comedian, Morgan said, "He was free, he came from the heart. He was talking about making love. He was a sexy man!"

Comcast scores a win over cord-cutters (CMCSA)

comcastThis story was delivered to BI Intelligence "Digital Media Industry Insider" subscribers. To learn more and subscribe, please click here.

The cord-cutting generation is growing, but Comcast just won a battle against it.

The world's largest cable company by revenue added 53,000 cable video subscribers in the first quarter of 2016, which flies in the face of the widely-held notion that consumers are abandoning traditional pay-TV packages, according to the Wall Street Journal.

This marked Comcast's greatest Q1 growth in subscriptions in nine years and builds momentum off its Q4 2015 in which it added 89,000 subscribers.

The caveat here is that Comcast likely added these subscribers because the company adapted to the new TV environment by offering smart TV, on-demand, and skinny bundle packages. In fact, 35% of Comcast's video customers have the company's smart TV platform X1, and 86% of these subscribers use XFINITY On Demand, Comcast's on-demand TV and film-streaming service.

Comcast also recently inked a deal with Amazon to sell Internet and television packages through Amazon's platform, which could have also boosted subscriptions.

In Q4 2015, Comcast noted that almost 25% of new video subscribers (approximately 22,500) signed up for a skinny bundle. These bundles address cord cutters' concerns because they offer a handful of channels without forcing the customer to pay for hundreds of different channels that they do not want. This lets Comcast hold onto cord cutters who would otherwise abandon pay-TV altogether.

Comcast has turned the tide slightly, but many are still questioning if traditional pay-TV even has a place any more. Given that Comcast's success this quarter came at least in part from skinny bundles and other non-traditional forms of content delivery, those questions are hard to ignore.

Margaret Boland, research analyst for BI Intelligence, Business Insider's premium research service, has compiled a detailed report on subscription video on-demand services that examines how the growth of SVOD is coming at the expense of the pay-TV industry. The report analyzes the state of the pay-TV industry and maps out which demographics are more likely to stop buying traditional TV packages.

The report also discusses the user base, original content offerings, and subscription models of the major subscription streaming services available today, including Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Video. Finally, it looks at how traditional pay-TV companies and premium channels like HBO and Showtime are addressing the shift to digital viewing, as well as the implications of their response for advertisers.

Subscription Video on Demand Report COver

  • Those abandoning pay-TV packages fall into three main groups: cord-nevers, cord-cutters, and cord-shavers. Whereas video streaming services have found favor with younger viewers in particular, an increasing portion of older subscribers also are leaving behind their pay-TV packages. Still, younger viewers watch four times as much video content online than older viewers.
  • Netflix is the largest SVOD service and will continue to dominate the industry with an impressive original content lineup and aggressive expansion plans.
  • Amazon is trying to compete with Netflix by investing significant resources in original content.
  • Hulu is the third-largest SVOD service, but the only one to offer ad-supported membership tiers. Hulu has been the slowest to roll out original and exclusive content, but it has inked numerous deals in the past year to boost its content library.
  • Pay-TV companies are responding to the rise of SVOD services by offering subscribers "skinny bundles" and their own streaming services.

In full, the report:

  • Illustrates the fall of the traditional TV package and the rise of broadband only cable subscriptions.
  • Lays out the different types of viewers that are leaving behind pay-TV: cord-cutters, cord-shavers, and cord-nevers.
  • Examines the leading SVOD services including Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, and premium channel offerings from HBO and Showtime.
  • Explains the various ways that pay-TV companies are responding to the rise of SVOD services, notably skinny bundles and standalone streaming services.
  • Considers what the migration to SVOD services means to marketers.

RANKED: The best Marvel superhero movies of the past 8 years

$

Guardians Of The Galaxy

Ever since "Iron Man" was released in 2008 and kicked off the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel has taken over the box office.

In the past eight years, Marvel Studios has put out well over 20 movies that span multiple studios — from Disney to 20th Century Fox.

"Deadpool," which came out on February 12, shattered box-office records, and "Captain America: Civil War" looks to do the same in May.

In anticipation of the upcoming "Captain America" and "X-Men: Apocalypse," we ranked the 12 best Marvel movies we've seen since Robert Downey Jr.'s era-defining "Iron Man."

SEE ALSO: RANKED: Every actor who's played Batman, from best to worst

12. "The Wolverine" (2013)

The hugely entertaining "The Wolverine" stays true to the characters' roots while telling an unconventional superhero story that involves Yakuza gangsters. There's a lot of great action here, such as a train chase that is as memorable as it is implausible. What really makes this stand out is Hugh Jackman, who has committed to this character for so long. He's a hero who is immortal and haunted by the prospect of death.

11. "The Amazing Spider-Man" (2012)

Spider-Man didn't need to be rebooted, but Sony really didn't want to lose this franchise. While nothing can top what Sam Raimi created — even if "Spider-Man 3" didn't do anybody any favors — the first reboot had a lot of great stuff to offer. It has a whole new Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) who's less of a geek. And Parker created the web blasters this time, making it just slightly more faithful to the comics.

10. "Ant-Man" (2015)

With Edgar Wright originally onboard, "Ant-Man" was looking to be one of Marvel's best. Indeed, Joss Whedon even called it Marvel's best script yet. But when Wright and the studio couldn't see eye to eye, the director dropped out.

Replacement director Peyton Reed had high expectations to live up to. He crafted a superhero story that goes through the standard motions of an origin story while also managing to be a fun heist movie with great performances by Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas. We will never know what Edgar Wright's "Ant-Man" would have looked like, but the version we ended up with isn't so bad.

Chyna's manager believes he knows how the groundbreaking female wrestler died.

"She accidentally and unintentionally misused her legally prescribed medication over the course of two to three weeks. It's an epidemic," the wrestler's manager, Anthony Anzaldo, told NBC News.

Anzaldo said that the wrestler was using Ambien and Valium to sleep.

The manager discovered Chyna's body on April 20 in her home in Redondo Beach, California, after not being able to contact her. She had been dead for about three days by then. He said there was no alcohol or drugs found at the scene.

"She fell asleep on Sunday night and peacefully took her last breath," Anzaldo said.

The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner has not identified a cause of death. The decision is pending further investigation, including whether Chyna suffered from a concussion. Autopsy and toxicology results could take two months.

Chyna (real name: Joan Marie Laurer) was 45 years old.

Though she posed for Playboy and appeared in adult films and on reality TV, Chyna is best known for breaking barriers during her time on WWE.

Dubbed the "9th Wonder of the World," the incredibly fit Chyna wrestled men, was WWE's women's champion for a time, and the only woman to hold the organization's intercontinental championship.

'Thelma & Louise' almost had a completely different ending

thelma and louise

It has gone down as a classic because of that ending.

In an era when female empowerment was hardly addressed, let alone championed in the movies, 1991's "Thelma & Louise" became a rallying cry for showcasing two women, Thelma (Geena Davis) and Louise (Susan Sarandon), who become outlaws after killing a man who assaults and attempts to rape Thelma.

The movie concludes with the two driving their '66 Thunderbird convertible off a cliff near the Grand Canyon as they flee authorities. The image of the two holding hands as they drive to their death has become an unforgettable movie moment.

But Sarandon revealed to Entertainment Weekly that director Ridley Scott wasn't completely sold on the ending screenwriter Callie Khouri wrote.

“When I met with Ridley, I said, ‘So really, are you going to... don’t have me do this and then when you test it and everybody gets bummed out, you’re going to reshoot and we’re going to be alive after all,’” Sarandon told EW. “And he said, ‘Well, I can tell you that you will definitely die, but I’m not sure about the other one.’”

Scott meant Davis’ Thelma. “He said, ‘You might push her out of the car or something,’” Sarandon told the magazine.

Thankfully, it didn't turn out that way.

According to Davis, the scene was the last of the production and they only had 20 minutes to shoot it.

“It was very emotional for me," Davis said. "I turned and looked at [Sarandon], I realized the whole experience was over, and I felt really sad.”

Along with the film earning six Oscar nominations and a best screenplay win for Khouri, the ending is still as striking as it was 25 years ago.

Here it is in all its glory:

A 27-year-old poet is behind the powerful words in Beyoncé's 'Lemonade'

warsan shire

Interspersed between songs in Beyoncé's "Lemonade" special are the powerful words of Warsan Shire.

"You can't make homes out of human beings/ someone should have already told you that/ and if he wants to leave/ then let him leave," Beyoncé recites from Shire's poem, "For Women Who Are Difficult To Love."

The collaboration between the 27-year-old, Somali-British poet and the Grammy-award winning artist adds depth to the already personal songs featured on the potent album.

Beyoncé pulls from various of Shire's works, including her first pamphlet of poems, "Teaching My Mother How to Give Birth," published in 2011. The book is already sold out on Amazon.

While Beyoncé might catapult the young poet to mainstream fame, she's already had an accomplished career.

In 2013, the young poet received Brunel University's African Poetry Prize, and a year later was made London's Young Poet Laureate. She also spent six weeks in Australia, as Queensland’s Poet in Residence, and currently serves as poetry editor for the magazine Spook.

An October profile in the New Yorker said that Shire reached more than 50,000 followers on Twitter. That number is now up to more than 70,000. And though she rarely tweets, when she does it's often to highlight words from poets, artists, and authors she admires.
