DISH Customers: Here's Where You Can Watch The Season 3 Premiere Of 'The Walking Dead'

0
0

the walking dead rick grimes

If you're a DISH subscriber and a fan of "The Walking Dead," that could be a problem.

Due to the ongoing feud between the cable provider and AMC, DISH customers won't be able to view tonight's season 3 premiere to the cable hit.

In response, AMC decided to offer a live stream of "The Walking Dead" episode straight from its site to DISH subscribers.

The news has been out there for a while. However, while at "The Walking Dead" panel at New York Comic Con, everyone appeared stumped when asked by a subscriber what he should do to watch the series.

The best advice any panel member could offer came from host Chris Hardwick suggesting the man find a neighbor or friend without DISH.

So, for those in need of getting their zombie fix, we've put together exactly how to tune in tomorrow night.

Note: You won't be able to stream the entire third series online through AMC, but this does solve your zombie thirst for the moment.

1. You have to sign up to watch the premiere.

Head over to http://www.amctv.com/thewalkingdead4dish/ to sign up for the live stream. It's completely free of charge.

the walking dead dish AMC

2. Submit your info and you'll receive a confirmation email.

the walking dead amc DISH

It should look something like this:

AMC the walking dead DISH

3. Confirm your registration by clicking on the first link.

You should see a screen that looks like this:

the walking dead

4. Make sure to return at 8:30 p.m. (5:30 p.m. for the West coast) to enter your registered email address.

This will be the site to access tonight: www.amctv.com/thewalkingdead4dish

That's it!

The most curious bit about AMC's setup is that it tells viewers they must be DISH subscribers; however, we don't subscribe to DISH and are successfully registered to view the premiere for free online tomorrow.

There's absolutely no verification process to ensure you are, in fact, a DISH customer.

Walking Dead for all!

Everything We Learned About The New Season Of 'Walking Dead' At Comic Con

andrew lincoln chandler riggs the walking dead

Yesterday, we camped out in the Javits Center IGN Theater most of the day to attend New York Comic Con's main event: "The Walking Dead" panel.

While we got a sneak peak at the opening from tonight's episode (it's awesome), the cast and creator shared their thoughts, and a few minor spoilers, on the upcoming season.

If you couldn't make it out to the event (it was jam packed) or didn't watch the live stream online, we learned a few tidbits from creator Robert Kirkman, Andrew Lincoln (Rick Grimes), Chandler Riggs (Carl Grimes), Norman Reedus (Daryl Dixon), David Morrissey (The Governor), Danai Gurira (Michonne), and Michael Rooker (Merle Dixon).

There are some mini-spoilers ahead, plus a clip from Sunday's episode.

If you don't want anything ruined, turn away.

There are more zombie kills in the premiere than all of Season 1.

According to Andrew Lincoln, it's going to be a night full of walker deaths.

No one speaks in the three-to-four minute premiere of the show.

It's a complete revert back to the suspense in season one when Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) awoke stranded in a zombie-filled hospital.

The best part?

You don't realize anyone hasn't spoken for the duration.

Carl's turning into an awesome killing machine.

Chandler Riggs told us straight at the panel.

People Are Going Crazy For Morgan Freeman's New Obama Ad

Morgan Freeman has lent his voice for an Obama advertisement that is already making waves.

The ad — which was released on Saturday and aired yesterday during football and baseball games — has Freeman narrating over images from Obama's first term, including the president walking out into a press conference and firefighters watching the news of bin Laden's death in Times Square.

It was really only a matter of time before Freeman lent his skills to the campaign, as the actor is a top Obama super PAC donor

Here's the script, delivered with Freeman's trademarked gravitas:

Every president inherits challenges, few have faced so many. Four years later our enemies have been brought to justice. Our heroes are coming home. Assembly lines are humming again—there are still challenges to meet, children to educate, a middle class to rebuild but the last thing we should do is turn back now.

The ad has 181,000 views in the single day it has been online, and has garnered nearly 2,000 likes.

COLBERT: 'I Come In Around 6:30 And Then I Just Say The Opposite Of Whatever Rachel Maddow Said The Night Before'

0

Stephen ColbertLast night, NBC's "Meet The Press" aired an interview with comedian and political satirist Stephen Colbert. Colbert shed his right-wing political persona to discuss his hit late-night series, "The Colbert Report."

Colbert — who called his character "an idiot [who] is willfully ignorant" — made it clear that he was not a "newsman" and joked:

"I come in around 6:30 and then I just say the opposite of whatever Rachel Maddow said the night before. And I'm usually good."

He noted that some of his audacious and hilarious stunts — which include forming his own Super PAC, running for President, and testifying on Capitol Hill on immigration in character — were meant to expose flaws in the political system.

"Satire is parody with a point," Colbert added.

But apparently not everyone is in on the joke.

Former Democratic Senator Bob Kerrey, who is running for Senate in the upcoming election, was a guest on Colbert's show during its infancy in 2005.

And according to Colbert:

"We were about three minutes into a seven-minute interview. And I don't know what I said, but he turned to me and he said, 'What the hell are you talking about?' But in the middle of the interview, I couldn't explain to him what it was. And then he just [took the] mic off and then left as soon as the interview was over. So I hope at some point someone explained to him that I was just fooling, senator. And I'm very sorry."

'Argo' Nearly Nabs The Top Spot At Theaters—Here's Your Box-Office Roundup

0
0

liam neeson taken 2

"Argo" was no match for "Taken 2" this weekend.

Though the Ben Affleck film came within two million of Liam Neeson's action sequel, Fox came out the top winner this weekend.

Five new films entered the top ten in what will most likely become a record-high October for the box office.

"Hotel Transylvania" has already earned $102.2 million in three weeks. "Taken 2" will over power that number with more than $80 million in total in two weeks.

Summit also saw its seventh-highest opening ever with its new horror flick "Sinister."

Out of the top ten this week include "End of Watch," which dropped six places, Clint Eastwood's "Trouble with the Curve," "House at the End of the Street" with Jennifer Lawrence, and "The Master."

The 3D return of "Finding Nemo" also dropped seven spots below the top ten. And "Atlas Shrugged: Part 2," based on the novel by Ayn Rand, bombed with little more than $1.7 million.

Here are this weekend's box-office winners and losers:

10. "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" jumped up to the tenth spot this week earning $2.1 million.

9. Martin McDonagh's quirky comedy "Seven Psychopaths" following seven men who kidnap the wrong man's dog earned $4.2 million. His last film, "In Bruges," earned a total of $7.8 million in the U.S.

8. "Looper" featuring Bruce Willis and Joseph Gordon-Levitt falls four spots this week with $6.3 million. In three weekends, the time travel flick has earned $51.4 million.

7."Frankenweenie" drops two spots at theaters with $7 million. After two weeks in theaters, Tim Burton's black and white kid's film has earned $22 million, more than $15 million shy of its $39 million budget.

6. "Pitch Perfect" drops three places and 37 percent with $9.3 million. The film has now earned $36.5 million to date.

5. Kevin James' "Here Comes the Boom" earned $12 million. That's the lowest opening of any of his films to date. "Zookeeper" opened to $20 million last summer while "Paul Blart: Mall Cop" debuted to $31.8 million in 2009.

4. Adam Sandler's "Hotel Transylvania" manages to stay among the top five grossing $17.3 million. In three weeks, the kid's horror flick has surpassed its estimated budget of $85 million with $151.5 million worldwide.

3. Studios can always count on a horror flick to do well. "Sinister" featuring Ethan Hawke earned $18 million, nearly the entire gross of Summit's earlier film "Man on a Ledge."

2. Ben Affleck's "Argo" about Americans trapped during a high point of the Iranian revolution, earned $20 million which is nearly in line with 2010's $23.8 million debut of "The Town."

1. Once again, "Taken 2" easily takes the top spot earning $22.5 million. Despite earning an impressive $86.7 million domestically given theater numbers in the past few weeks, the film is doing even better overseas with a total of $132 million.

The Black Keys Settle Lawsuit With Home Depot & Pizza Hut Over Cheesy Bites Ad

The Black KeysRock duo the Black Keys have reached a state of harmony with Pizza Hut and Home Depot.

Or at least they've agreed to call off the lawyers.

The group, along with their producer Danger Mouse, have reached settlement agreements with the pizza chain and the home-goods giant, after filing suits against them in June, according to court papers obtained by TheWrap.

Also read: The Black Keys Sue Pizza Hut and Home Depot Over Ads

According to court papers, the parties have requested that the suits, which were filed in U.S. District Court in California, remain on the docket while they finish documenting the settlements.

The group and its producer claimed that Pizza Hut, in "a brazen and improper effort to capitalize on Plaintiffs' hard-earned success," used the group's 2011 song "Gold on the Ceiling" in an ad for their Cheesy Bites Pizza without authorization, and that Home Depot had done the same with their song "Lonely Boy" in a commercial for Ryobi power tools.

The group had sought injunctions against the companies from further using the songs, plus reimbursement for profits derived from the songs' use, unspecified damages, interest, attorneys' fees and court costs.

Terms of the settlements were not disclosed, and the group's attorney has not yet responded to TheWrap's request for comment.

However, if the group suddenly finds itself with an abundance of Cheesy Bites pizza and bathroom tiles, you'll know why.

Pamela Chelin contributed to this report.

Sean Astin Had Never Heard Of 'Lord Of The Rings' Before Being Cast In The Film

0

sean astin

During our four-day adventure at New York Comic Con this past weekend, we stopped by a Q&A session with actor Sean Astin.

Astin, who's best known for his lead role in "Rudy" and Frodo's buddy Samwise in "The Lord of the Rings" shared he never actually knew of the popular series by J.R.R. Tolkien when he first received a casting call.

"I thought it was The Phantom Tollbooth,*" Astin shared.

Instead, the actor played along as if he knew exactly what the series consisted of, when, in reality, he had not a clue.

Astin then went to a library, found, and purchased the three books almost immediately.

"I read the first 180 pages in like two hours, so I knew I had enough to do the audition scenes." said Astin.

*For the record, The Phantom Tollbooth follows the adventures of a young boy with a magic, world-traveling tollbooth which takes him to a place called the Kingdom of Wisdom. (Astin had the right idea at least.)

These Celebrities Posed Naked With Dead Fish For Charity

0

Emilia Fox With a Squid for Fishlove

Everyone loves looking at pictures of naked celebrities cuddling with huge fish — right? That's what Fishlove, a new campaign for sustainable fishing, is hoping.

Borrowing a page from the PETA playbook, Fishlove is a photo series that asks celebrities to help stop over-fishing by posing naked with fish. The photographs are part of a project for the OCEAN2012 campaign, which represents 160 different organizations throughout the European Union that are trying to push policy for fair and healthy fishing practices.

The series was launched in 2009 to promote a film on the fishing crisis called "End of the Line," by Charles Clover. Clover teamed up with Brighton restaurateur, Nicholas Rohl to create the Fishlove series.

Rohl says the project was initially inspired by an image produced by advertising agency Leo Burnett of a naked woman cradling a fish like she was breastfeeding, "The fishing crisis is quite complex and difficult for people to understand, but this was so simple: it said everything that anyone needed to know about the fishing crisis: if we don’t start protecting fish, they will die out,” describes Rohl in a press release.

The two then joined forces with fashion photographer, Rankin, to photograph their first celebrity supporter, Italian-Australian actress, Greta Scacchi holding a huge cod.Gretta Scacchi for Fishlove

Other celebrities that have participated in the Fishlove project, include Jerry Hall, Lizzy Jagger, the Olympic gold swimmer Mark Foster, Mariella Frostrup, and chef Tom Aikens. The website has a complete gallery of the images.

"The FISHLOVE photographic series has been credited for changing the course of the debate in the lead up to the crucial vote on the European fishing policy in November this year, putting pressure on European leaders to vote against the disastrous over-fishing of our seas," declares the organization's press release.

The images will be exhibited at the Pertwee, Anderson & Gold gallery in Soho, London on October 25th.

The website and press materials are all sure to mention that the fish used in the photos have been donated by Waitrose, an online grocery story, and were caught using sustainable practices.

'California Girl' Katy Perry Roots For Two East Coast Teams

0

Katy Perry Football

She may be a "California Girl" at heart, but Santa Barbara native Katy Perry roots for two East Coast teams when it comes to sports.

"I just love the Patriots!" Perry proclaimed during an elevator ride Monday in the Condé Nast building in New York City. "But then she caught herself, became aware she was with New Yorkers and backtracked saying, 'I love the Giants, too!'"

Our fellow elevator-riding source adds, "She looked amazing. Really dark hair, small, sort of a big wooly coat. She had like four people with her but was chatting with everyone."

But the singer's support of the two teams isn't a secret, as she wore a hybrid outfit of the teams' colors to this year's Super Bowl.

When her favorite Patriots lost 21-17, Perry still tweeted her support for the Giants:

"SPIRITUAL EXPERIENCE @ #thesuperbowl #neverthoughtidsaythat... Okay fine.... I ♥ GIANTS!"

Perry has been in NYC to attend Saturday night's Comedy Central’s "Night Of Too Many Stars" event and was spotted Sunday having dinner at West Village eatery Pearl with on-again boyfriend, John Mayer.

But Perry isn't only vocal about her favorite sports teams, she also flaunts her political preferences, as well.

Last week, the pop star performed at a democratic fundraiser in Los Angeles sporting a very patriotic manicure:

Katy Perry Manicure

MinxTastingRoom.com is now selling Perry's decal designs for $19.95. And Mitt Romney supporters can get in on the action too, as the site is also offering Republican versions of the mani, complete with the former governor’s face and little elephants.

The World's Most Powerful TV Shows Of The Past 25 Years

0
0

Stephen Colbert

TV doesn’t get much respect.

It rots your brain and grows couch potatoes. But the so-called idiot box also swings elections, rewires brains, snares criminals, and even sways the Supreme Court.

The following may not be the best shows of the last 25 years—in fact, some are among the worst—but their impact reaches far beyond the living room.

25. "Tropikana": The Brazilian Soap Opera That Won A Presidential Election

As Russians were gearing up to go to the polls in July 1996, Boris Yeltsin was nervous about his job.

The weather gave him additional reason to panic. With the sun shining and the temperatures pleasant, Yeltsin fretted that his city-dwelling supporters would decamp to their dachas, or country cottages, instead of staying home and voting. Russia’s president needed a way to keep his base from traveling.

His solution: a cunning use of soap opera. No show was more popular in Russia than the Brazilian morality soap Tropikanka, which regularly drew 25 million viewers to the state-owned network ORT. With the election looming, ORT made a surprise announcement: The show’s finale would air as a special triple episode on election day between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m.

More amazing was the fact that the scheme actually worked. Because most dachas didn’t have televisions, viewers stayed in the city, glued to their sets. When the episode ended, it was too late to trek out of town, but voters still had time to get to the polling station. Yeltsin’s soap opera strategy helped him prevail by more than 10 million votes.

Meanwhile, The Young and the Restless can’t even sway a lousy Senate race.

24. "Melrose Place": The Show That Turned Prime Time Into An Art Gallery

You probably remember Melrose Place as a vapid, if enjoyable, look at a Los Angeles apartment complex. But the show had more depth than anyone realized. Starting in 1996, the program served as a highly visible billboard for up-and-coming artists.

Melrose’s foray into the art world was masterminded by conceptual artist Mel Chin. As Chin told the Los Angeles Times in 1997, “Everyone criticizes television, but nobody tries to intervene to give it the meaning it lacks.” Chin founded the GALA Committee to do just that.

When Chin approached Melrose set decorator Deborah Siegel with the idea of dressing the show in avant-garde works, she immediately approved. Together the GALA Committee and Siegel collected pieces from artists around the country and worked them into the show. Each time viewers tuned in for a little trashy fun, they got a hidden dose of culture.

Some of the art was surprisingly subversive. Most famously, when Courtney Thorne-Smith’s character was struggling with an unplanned pregnancy, she spent two episodes hunkered down in a comfy quilt. A closer look revealed it wasn’t just a pretty pattern—it was also the molecular structure of the abortion drug RU-486.

The art world, for its part, embraced the exposure, and in 1997, the Melrose Place pieces were displayed in their own show at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles.

23. "The Simpsons": The Show That Changed How We Talk

You don’t need to turn on the TV to hear The Simpsons. Just chat with pretty much anyone.

As University of Pennsylvania linguistics professor Mark Liberman wrote in 2005, “The Simpsons has apparently taken over from Shakespeare and the Bible as our culture’s greatest source of idioms, catchphrases, and sundry other textual allusions.”

Liberman’s assertion sounds crazy—at least until you remember there’s a Milhouse quote for every occasion. Even the hulking gatekeeper of the language, the Oxford English Dictionary, has found a spot for Homer Simpson’s trademark “D’oh!” Mmmm … linguistic acceptance.

The Original 1966 Batmobile Was Bought For $1 From Ford

batmobile lincoln futura

While at New York Comic Con this past weekend, we naturally made it a point to attend a few Batman panels.

Friday afternoon we sat in on the premiere of a 58-minute "Batmobile" documentary that will be featured as an extra on "The Dark Knight Rises" DVD December 4.

One of the most interesting things we learned was about the most iconic Batmobile the Dark Knight ever drove.

In 1966, while working on the Batman television series, Los Angeles car customizer George Barris revealed he bought the Futura from Ford for $1.

To gauge how much of a deal that was, the experimental concept car cost $250,000 to design and build in Italy over a decade earlier.

The car was built to give consumers "an exciting peek into America's automotive future."

Some of the futuristic features it offered? Power-steering and power brakes.

According to the documentary, it took 15 days and $15,000 to create the classic Batmobile that Adam West drove around on the '60s series.

Hollywood Banker Told Police He Used Bath Salts Days Before LAPD Beatdown

0

Brian Mulligan

In May, TV executive-turned-big time Hollywood banker Brian Mulligan filed a claim accusing LAPD officers of beating him without probable cause after a confrontation with police that led to his arrest.

Mulligan—the 52-year-old vice chairman and managing director of Deutsche Bank’s Los Angeles media practice—was in a seedy neighborhood holding $5,000 in cash when police allegedly found him trying to enter moving vehicles.

LAPD placed Mulligan in a motel for the night and him told not to leave, but the banker allegedly didn't listen and was again found by LAPD on the street in the Highland Park area.

When confronted by LAPD, Mulligan reportedly resisted arrest by raising his arms and growling like a bear. LAPD then allegedly beat Mulligan to the ground, which resulted in the banker fracturing his nose, for which he has now claimed damages of as much as $50 million.

Then, in August, a gruesome photo of a beaten and bloody Mulligan went public, as well as a report that he was on "white lightning" or "bath salts" during the incident.

Mulligan and his attorney have vehemently denied any drug use and have filed a claim against the LAPD saying his beating was unprovoked.

But the claims that Mulligan was not on drugs have been weakened, as a new audio recording has surfaced of the banker admitting to a Glendale officer that he had ingested bath salts — just two days before the LAPD incident.

The tape starts with Mulligan saying, "My lawyer will probably kill me for saying this but ... I don't know what it is but it's bad ... I've probably used it twenty times."

Mulligan's lawyer has no comment.

Eric Clapton Sells Abstract Painting For A Record $34 Million

0
0

richter

Rock star Eric Clapton sells an abstract painting by German artist Gerhard Richter for £21.3m – a new record amount for a living artist.

A high gloss was applied to the results of last week’s contemporary art auctions in London when a luxuriant abstract painting by Gerhard Richter established a new record for a living artist, selling at Sotheby’s for £21.3 million. Rock star Eric Clapton, who bought it for one tenth of the price in 2001, timed the sale well. In the past four years, Richter’s decorative abstract paintings, of which there are hundreds, have become status symbols among the world’s super rich – Roman Abramovich and Lily Safra, who gave hers to the Israel Museum in Jerusalem, being among the top buyers at auction.

The latest Richter record price is thought to have been paid by a Russian buyer, and crowned a triumphant week for the octogenarian German artist, in which all 15 of his paintings that were offered sold for a total of £28 million – accounting for more than 25 per cent of the week’s sales. But rest of the story, while it had its moments, was not quite so rosy; the other five contemporary art auctions all fell short of pre-sale expectations.

At Phillips, more than 30 per cent of works offered were unsold, including a view of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange by the artist photographer Andreas Gursky, valued at £400,000. Gursky prices peaked last year at a record $4 million (£2,490,000) for a photographic work, but sellers hoping to capitalise on that last week were disappointed. Two further substantial works by Gursky at Christie’s were also unsold.

Another notable casualty at Christie’s was Californian artist Paul McCarthy. While his dealers, Hauser & Wirth, claimed the first sale of the Frieze Art Fair with a large, Disneyesque sculpture by McCarthy for over a million dollars, two slightly lewd, cartoon-style sculptures in a similar price bracket found no buyers. Unlike Richter’s abstracts, McCarthy’s discomforting social critique is not to everyone’s taste, and the number of potential buyers is limited. It was also apparent that Spanish buyers were, perhaps due to the state of the national economy, out of the equation, and works by Spanish artists were either unsold or snapped up by non-Spanish buyers at soft prices.

The stars of the Christie’s sale were the eccentric German artist, Martin Kippenberger, whose rare self portrait sold for a record £3.1 million to Hauser & Wirth, bidding for a client, and a group of works by young British artists from the Saatchi collection which were prominently placed to catch the attention of the type of collector of new art roaming the aisles of the Frieze Art Fair. A lumpy sculpture of a woman’s legs by Rebecca Warren sold to an American buyer for £109,250; a triptych of blurred photographs by Idris Khan sold for £181,250; and a huge, Photorealist painting of an aircraft wreck by Jonathan Wateridge sold for £313,250 to a Russian collector – all record prices and above estimates.

Saatchi had less of an impact at Sotheby’s, though his painting of a pair of gymnast’s rings by Gerhard Richter’s wife, Isa Genzken, did sell for a record £265,250 to art advisor Jorg Bertz. Here at the main evening sale, there was a more historically classical selection, made perhaps to catch the audience at the new Frieze Masters fair for older work. Apart from the record Richter, there was, for instance, a 1960s blue sponge relief by Yves Klein which sold to the Swiss-based collector Dimitri Mavromatis, above estimate for £3.7 million. Such sales, normally reserved for the higher-value auctions in February and June, gave Sotheby’s the edge.

However, closer analysis again revealed a certain fragility in the market as over half the lots sold either on below their estimated price guides. A granite sculpture by Anish Kapoor sold below estimate for £361,250, less than the price it fetched five years ago, and an early coloured drawing of a dead chicken by Lucian Freud found no buyers at £400,000.

The outstanding result for young artists was reserved for the next morning, when an inkjet-printed painting of black-and-white blocks of colour by Wade Guyton, currently enjoying a survey exhibition at the Whitney Museum of American Art, sold for a record £421.250.

When the Frieze Art Fair started 10 years ago, London’s Frieze week auctions brought a modest £6.5 million, and last week’s £101 million is a measure of the impact the fair has had. Now with Frieze Masters thrown into the mix, the trend is likely to see even higher value sales next year.

Glenn Beck Releases His Own Line Of US-Made Blue Jeans

1791 denim

What do Glenn Beck, Brett Favre, and Dale Earnhardt Jr. all have in common?

They all sell jeans.

The conservative pundit, who refused to wear Levis brand jeans last year because their advertisements 'celebrated' images of revolutions in the Middle East, has launched his own, "100% made in America" jeans called 1791 Denim. 1791 is the name of the clothing line Beck launched in 2011 inspired by U.S. history.

The two pairs of jeans currently on sale cost $129.99 a pair — over ten times what they cost in other countries, and almost twice the cost of a standard pair of Levi's jeans.

According to Beck's website, he has been involved  "with the new jeans in every step of the process from the stitching, to the buttons, and to the quality of the rivets."

The advertisement claims:

"These were the first American blue jeans. The jeans that built America. And they were built in America. Built at a time when things were timeless. A time when you knew things would last. A time when people worked for their dreams and their dreams worked for them."

However, the first American blue jeans were patented in in 1835 by — you guessed it — Levi Strauss.

Developers and critics have been coming down on the iPhone 5's Apple maps.

Others have been noticing them, too.

Movieclips put together three parodies showcasing fictional character's frustration with the new app, and they're pretty funny.

Here's the app showing Katniss ("The Hunger Games") a "safe" route to the Cornucopia:

And, maybe the Joker wasn't to blame for Rachel Dawes' demise in "The Dark Knight":

The best may be of "The Shining" featuring Jack Nicholson's character chasing Danny.

Here's What Stephen Colbert Is Really Like

real stephen colbert

Stephen Colbert is "an idiot" who is "willfully ignorant."

At least that's how the real Stephen Colbert described the TV persona "Stephen Colbert" on Meet the Press last Sunday.

Since the "idiot" version of Stephen Colbert has a hugely popular TV show broadcasted four days a week, it's always surprising to see the real Stephen Colbert make a public appearance.

Charles McGrath of The New York Times describes the real Colbert as "a practicing Catholic, who lives with his wife and three children in suburban Montclair, N.J., where, according to one of his neighbors, he is 'extremely normal.'"

Throughout the years, the real Colbert has emerged and opened up about his show, character, and personal life.

Before The Daily Show, Stephen Colbert was hired as a correspondent for Good Morning America. Below is Colbert's only segment to make it on air:

Stephen Colbert talks to the ladies of The View about his mother. "She taught us to still love life and not be bitter" (after the death of his father and brothers)
