Fox News: We Found The Gawker Mole

$

0

Mediaite reports that Fox News says it has figured out the identity of the "mole" hired by Gawker to leak secrets from inside the cable news network.

Here's the statement from the Fox News spokesman, via Mediaite

"We found the person and we're exploring legal options at this time."

The news comes less than 24 hours after Gawker posted the mole's first two pieces, including a behind-the-scenes video of Mitt Romney chatting with Sean Hannity about his equestrian pursuits. We can only hope that Gawker had the foresight to store up some more material from the double-agent before Fox brought down the iron fist.

Fox News still hasn't responded to Business Insider's calls and emails requesting comment.

UPDATE, 1:58 p.m.:

Gawker's "Fox Mole" is apparently unconcerned that he/she has been found out.

Here's the mole's response, posted on Gawker:

So Fox's PR team has been telling people that they have "found" me and are presently "exploring legal options." If Fox has smoked me out, it's news to me. I'm still here. Back to work.

Go Inside The Massive Bridal Boutique Where 'Say Yes To The Dress' Is Filmed

klenifeld bridl boutique

When little girls dream of their wedding day, they imagine "The One."

No, we're not talking about their future husbands, we're talking about the perfect wedding dress.

New Yorkers, Nigerian princesses, and stars of TLC's reality show "Say Yes To The Dress" all flock to Kleinfeld, the sprawling Chelsea boutique that's become the go-to place for brides-to-be to pick out their wedding dresses.

Click here to tour the store >

Mara Urshel, who has more than 30 years experience in the luxury business, and partner Ronald Rothstein purchased and revamped Kleinfeld bridal boutique in 2005, transforming it into the centerpiece of "Say Yes To The Dress," which is currently filming its ninth season.

Kleinfeld itself is now a recognizable luxury brand—it claims to have the largest selection of designer dresses in the world, it collaborates exclusively with designers, and even sells its own line of dresses. The bridal gowns range in price from about $900 to $30,000.

"It's not about the price of the dress," Urshel said. "It's about the workmanship, embroidering, crystals, the fineness of the silk, and beading."

Urshel and Rothstein moved the struggling company from Brooklyn to Manhattan in 2005. The location is a massive 35,000-square-foot space with a lobby that resembles a hotel. It has 28 dressing rooms—all with special mirrors and lights so that customers can see the "true" color of the dress as it will look outside the store.

The rest of the space is dedicated to a men's bridal department, costume jewelry, storage, alterations, beading, and sewing stations.

In 2006 TLC pitched its reality TV series idea. Business has been booming since.

Women who want to be featured on the show must apply through TLC, and then TLC schedules the appointments for the bride and her family, Urshel said.

"When a bride who is going to be on the show comes in, it's not that different for us," Urshel said. "It's just them filming our bridal consultants doing their job."

The store boasts about its customer service policy, and says that it's with the bride "until she walks down the aisle."

Both Urshel and Rothstein list their home phone numbers on their business cards, to let brides know that if there is a disaster, someone from Kleinfeld will be there to help.

Customers have only taken advantage of the personal number a handful of times, but it has made a difference.

Once, when a bride was getting married at St. Patrick's Cathedral and her fascinator blew away while exiting the limo, the bride's mother called Urshel. Urshel called her old contacts from Sak's Fifth Avenue and they ran a new one across the street wit in 15 minutes.

"Something new happens every day in retail," Urshel said. "There's always a challenge. Always something happening. And always a new dress."

Kleinfeld is located at 110 West 20th Street between Sixth and Seventh Avenues.

The boutique has a three-window store front. You'd never imagine 35,000 square feet of space is inside.

Upon entering, you see the reception area.

Late Friday night, Minaj tweeted about a future trip through Brazil. However, the South American country doesn't seem too fond of the singer.

Almost immediately, @VisitBrasil, the Twitter feed for tourism throughout the country, reported back at the singer to stay home.

Both tweets have since been deleted, but immortalized in twitpics around the Web.

Amazon will now take your used CDs in return for store credit, but is there a better way?

We took Nirvana's seminal but ubiquitous "In Utero" for a spin to see how much we could get for it.

First up was Spun.com.

The album goes for $1.50 in store credit, but you have to pay shipping unless you buy three other items.

SecondSpin.com was even worse — $0.50.

Same with Wherehouse.com and BuyBackMedia.

Ah, but what about Ebay?

Nirvana

Ebay looks pretty good. What about some other albums?

"Bat Out of Hell" by Meat Loaf is even more valuable.

harrison ford brentwood calif $8.295 million

Harrison Ford is trying to part with his long-time Brentwood, Calif. colonial home. He listed the property last week for $8.295 million.

Ford bought the quaint home in 1983 for $1 million, according to Zillow.

The New England Traditional home was built in the early 1950's and designed by architect Gerard Colcord.

The main house has four bedrooms and the guest house has three.

The Real Estalker pointed out that Ford and his wife, actress Calista Flockhart, spent $12.65 million on a new 13,767-square-foot mansion in the Mandeville Canyon area, so that might be why he plans on ditching this Brentwood pad.

Ford lived in this house with his first wife, Melissa Mathison.

Welcome to 655 Macculloch Drive.

The house sits on .79 acres of land.

The listing says the current owner "restored and remodeled the home, while respecting the original architecture."

Britney Spears Joins 'X Factor'—For A Huge Paycheck

Britney Spears

After back and forth negotiations—"X Factor" offered her $10 million, she asked for $20 million—Britney Spears has finally agreed to appear as a season two judge on the Simon Cowell-helmed Fox show ... for a $15 million paycheck.

The Wrap is reporting exclusively that approximately $13 million of Spears' pay day is designated for her to judge music-industry aspirants alongside Cowell and record executive L.A. Reid, and the rest will act as a bonus for actually performing on the show.

While the deal has been agreed upon, it has not yet been signed as Spears is still under a conservatorship with her father (and as of this week, her fiancé Jason Trawick) acting as her guardian.

And according to The Wrap, Spears will be in a league of her own with her new, hefty paycheck.

Christina Aguilera is reportedly raking in a bit upwards of $10 million to mentor the current second season of NBC's "The Voice," but Spears' "X Factor" predecessor, Paula Abdul received the relatively small amount of $2.5 million to judge on the first season.

Spears joins the "X Factor" cast after Cowell fired season one judges Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger, as well as host Steve Jones after the show failed to meet his ratings expectations.

5 Unanswered Questions From The Whitney Houston 911 Call

Whitney Houston

TMZ obtained the 911 call placed after Whitney Houston's body was found in a bathtub at the Beverly Hilton hotel in February.

The nearly minute-long, non-graphic tape consists of the discussion between a security staffer at the hotel and a 911 dispatcher.

You can listen to the tape here

But after listening to the recording, we're left with more questions than answers.

1. Why did security from the Beverly Hilton call 911?

According to Houston's autopsy report, the singer was discovered by her personal assistant after a brief trip down the street to Neiman Marcus. After returning to the room at approximately 5:36 p.m., as stated in the report, a 911 call wasn't made for another seven minutes at 5:43 p.m—and it wasn't even by the person who found Houston.

The coroner's report says the assistant called Houston's bodyguard and then Beverly Hills security to call 911. Why not place the call herself after finding Houston face down in a bathtub, unresponsive? Why wait?

2. Did the security man know she was calling in about Whitney Houston?

When the personal assistant called down about an unresponsive woman possibly falling in a bathtub, she could have omitted to name the 46-year-old singer. The security person initially stumbles over the room number. Security employees at the hotel should have known what room Houston was staying in.

3. Was Whitney Houston alive at the time of the 911 call?

The security woman seems unclear as to whether Houston is breathing or even conscious for the duration of the call.

4. Why did the people in Whitney Houston's room continue hanging up on security?

The caller mentions security was on its way to Houston's room. When hearing the singer may not be breathing, the 911 dispatcher wants to talk someone through CPR; however, the caller says this is impossible because the people in the room continue hanging up.

Why were the people in the room delaying the arrival of security and paramedics? This leads us to our final question:

5. Were there more drugs in Houston's room than announced prior to security arriving?

The initial coroner's report listed the singer's official cause of death as accidental drowning despite finding cocaine, marijuana, Xanax, Flexeril and Benedryl in her system.

According to Houston's 42-page coroner's report, the singer's hotel room was filled with open alcohol containers, dozens of empty blister packs of Benedryl, Midol and Mucinex strewn across the room, not to mention a "white powdery substance" found in the bathroom. No marijuana was found.

Now, see what else we found out from Whitney Houston's 42-page autopsy report>

RANDOM: Watch Charlie Sheen Use The F-Word In A Dutch Beer Ad

charlie sheen bavaria beer

"The Charlie Sheen commercial" is becoming its own genre. His latest spot is for a non-alcoholic Bavarian beer brand sold in the Netherlands (video below), but it has all the tropes of Sheen's other recent advertising: Crazy Charlie Sheen riffs on his own propensity for weird behavior and intoxicating substances, all the while winking at the camera.

We've already seen him do that for DirecTV and the Fiat 500 and Hanes.

The differentiating factor in his latest outing is the appearance of the F-word. In the spot, Sheen checks out of rehab, promising his doctors he won't be back. As he drives home, everyone he sees—pregnant women, cops, folks at the gym—is chugging beer. At his house, his friends welcome him back with a beer-soaked surprise party. The aghast Sheen responds, "What the fuck?" The joke: It's Bavaria Global's latest alcohol-free brew, Bavaria Lemon.

The ad is targeted at the Dutch, but they aren't stupid: Most Dutch people speak English as well. Yesterday we noted that Unilever is running a campaign in Germany featuring the F-word, which Germans are also familiar with.

Hopefully, this unpleasant trend is about to end. The ad was shot by Bonkers of Amsterdam back in February while Sheen worked on the TV show Anger Management with his actor friend Tony Todd:

JK Rowling Pottermore

The U.K. publishing house Little, Brown Book Group has just announced the name and release date for JK Rowling's new novel for adults.

The book is called "The Casual Vacancy."

Here's the full synopsis

"When Barry Fairweather dies unexpectedly in his early forties, the little town of Pagford is left in shock. Pagford is, seemingly, an English idyll, with a cobbled market square and an ancient abbey, but what lies behind the pretty façade is a town at war.

Rich at war with poor, teenagers at war with their parents, wives at war with their husbands, teachers at war with their pupils ... Pagford is not what it first seems. And the empty seat left by Barry on the parish council soon becomes the catalyst for the biggest war the town has yet seen.

Who will triumph in an election fraught with passion, duplicity and unexpected revelations? Blackly comic, thought-provoking and constantly surprising, The Casual Vacancy is J.K. Rowling’s first novel for adults."

The book will be available in hardback, EBook, unabridged audio download and CD on Sept. 27, 2012.

A video of a marketing stunt by TNT in Belgium has taken the internet by storm.

The television network placed a large red "push to add drama" button in the middle of an "average Flemish square" that, when pushed, provoked a series of high octane events worthy of any Primetime drama: Unsuspecting Belgians were launched into a spectacle of gunfights, runaway ambulances, and lingerie-wearing women on motorcycles.

Comedy Central's Tosh.0 blog, which tracks the best of YouTube, said that "TNT should get their advertising agency to make their TV shows."

The video has been watched nearly 4.5 million times on YouTube and shared 702,610 times in the last 24 hours.

Considering that an attempted Adult Swim stunt in which the network placed magnetic lights on bridges and buildings around Boston provoked numerous calls to the bomb squad in 2007, Adfreak noted: "Here's another marketing stunt for the 'Could never happen in America' file."

Thank Louis CK: Stand-Up Specials Are Affordable Now!

$

Comedians-5-Dollar-Specials

Comedians understand that these are "hard economic times."

So instead of having to spend $50 and above on a ticket to see your favorite funnyman's stand-up show in a crowded auditorium with terrible acoustics, surrounded by people laughing with their terrible garlic breath, check to see if you can just download the full special online.

Because that's the new craze.

It started with Louis CK back in December. The comedian and creator of his own amazing FX show, released his special "Live at the Beacon Theater" for $5 on his website, with no electronic copy protection. Viewers could download the show via Amazon or PayPal.

And in 12 days, the website had already hit the $1 million mark. CK wrote on his website that he would divide that million into four parts: $250,000 would go toward paying for the cost of the special and website and another $250,000 went to his staff so they could have "fat bonuses."

CK also designated $280,000 to go to five charities of his choice. And finally, the last $220,000 would be for himself to take care of his family, pay his rent and to do "terrible, horrible things with and none of that is any of your business."

Then in March, "Parks and Recreation" star Aziz Ansari released his special, "Dangerously Delicious," in the same format. $5 via credit card or PayPal. The video can be streamed on Ansari's website or downloaded. And it is hilarious. Check out the NSFW promotional clip below.

And now Jim Gaffigan has joined the increasing bandwagon. The comedian most known for talking about the awfulness of Hot Pockets has just released his special, "Mr. Universe," again on his website for $5. The difference this time is that $1 from every purchase of the special will go to the Bob Woodruff Foundation that helps veterans and their families.

This new trend is not just great for us, it's also more freeing to the comics. No longer do they have to hope and pray to get an HBO or Comedy Central special where they barely see any profits and have a time limit. Now they have the freedom to produce whatever they want, whenever they want, without the risk of censoring or ads.

But don't get them wrong, they're still touring. The video comes from stops on their tour. So if you really love the live feel of a comedy special or really don't care about saving money, visit the comic when he or she comes to your city. So don't worry, the sanctity of comedy specials is still intact.

Gaffigan gave a hilarious list to Entertainment Weekly, of eight reasons why you may not want to download his new special, including, "if you don’t understand English," "if you plan on stealing it," or "if you really, really like dragons." After reading these, we kind of want to watch it more.

Let's hope this new, cheap comedy show trend will last a long time.

Less than 24 hours after Gawker's mole Joe Muto was identified and suspended from his job at Fox News, the website reports that Fox is threatening both Muto and Gawker with civil and criminal charges.

In a letter to Gawker publisher Nick Denton, Fox News's lawyers demand that the site "immediately stop publishing information and videos that have been unlawfully obtained by or from Joe Muto, and return them to Fox News." It also says that Gawker should "immediately take all necessary steps to preserve all documents and information related to its hire and employment" of Muto.

The letter was posted on Gawker this afternoon, accompanied by a photo of a young Bill O'Reilly with a topless lady, which is presumably part of Muto's loot.

MEET SARAH HYLAND: The Teen Scene Stealer On 'Modern Family'

sarah-hyland

She may play the slightly dim-witted, misunderstood and sometimes scantily clad Haley Dunphy on ABC's Modern Family, but actress Sarah Hyland is no dummy.

Hyland's been on the stage since age five, starring in Disney films and TV shows before landing on the network sitcom. If she looks familiar, it's probably because you may have mistaken her for Mila Kunis (Someone needs to sign them up to play sisters!). Even tabloid magazine editors can't tell the two apart

See what you don't know about Disney's good girl.

You've seen her parents on TV and in movies.

Hyland is the daughter of actors Melissa Canaday and Edward James Hyland.  Canady was featured in last year's "Green Apples & Wannabes" with Edward. Hyland's father is known for "The Happening" (2008), "The Switch" (2010) and small cameos on Boardwalk Empire, Gossip Girl and Law & Order.

She also has a brother, Ian, who has acted in "Spanglish," and cameoed in episodes of 30 Rock and Weeds

She's actually 21.

The young-looking actress may play a 16-year-old high schooler on "Modern Family," but in real life she's nearly the age of a college graduate.

Hyland told Ellen in her first talk show interview appearance she has no problem with looking young. "I look like I'm 12 and that's okay," Hyland said.

Sorry fellas, she's taken.

Hyland has been dating Disney co-star Matt Prokop for five years.

The couple met while trying out for "High School Musical 3" and began dating shortly afterward. The duo starred on screen as couples in Disney's television film "Geek Charming" and USA's TV film "Conception" which also starred Modern Family co-star, Julie Bowen.

In the past, Hyland suggested she would pefer Prokop as a love interest on her ABC hit. "I rather my boyfriend on Modern Family be him, so I don't have to make out with some random dude," Hyland told the ladies of The View.

She got her wish. Zap2It revealed late last month Prokop will indeed star as her next flame. We hope he can top old flame Dylan's "In the Moonlight" serenade to Hyland's character.

Here's Why 'Battleship' Will Sink At Theaters

$

battleship

Proportional strategy and luck are required to win Battleship, the family board game Peter Berg's loudly, proudly ridiculous soldiers-vs.-aliens blockbuster rather fancifully claims as its source. As played by Taylor Kitsch's beefy Navy lieutenant, however, victory requires no such niceties -- just the biggest explosives the military can provide. Overlong and underwritten even by the standards of summer f/x extravaganzas, this "Battleship" will nonetheless float with many on the strength of its boyish, eager-to-please razzle-dazzle. Bowing in Europe a month before its U.S. opening, pic should perform robustly enough to greenlight the sequel patently set up by its post-credits sting.

Having already parlayed its beloved G.I. Joe and Transformers action figures into hit Hollywood franchises, toy manufacturing giant Hasbro has now turned its attention to its classic board-game collection. On the surface, the idea isn't as silly as it seems: A board game, after all, has more of a built-in narrative structure than a doll, though Battleship's miss-hit-sink trajectory perhaps tells a simpler story than most. Certainly, a lot of ships get sunk in fraternal writing duo Jon and Erich Hoeber's screenplay, though there the similarity ends; there's nary an in-joke about the game to be found here. Indeed, rather surprisingly coming from the writers of "Red," attempts at hip humor are few and far between; the film mostly lets the missiles do the talking.

Extended pre-credits sequence gets past its science with impressive haste: We're here to play, after all, not to learn. The need-to-knows are that a "Goldilocks planet" (close enough to, and far enough from, the sun in order to sustain life, and therefore just right) has been discovered by NASA in a separate galaxy; the inhabitants of Planet G have responded to scientists' interstellar communications, and decided to pay a visit to Earth.

Cut to Oahu, Hawaii, where jobless layabout Alex (Kitsch) is celebrating his 26th birthday in a dive bar with disapproving older brother Stone (Alexander Skarsgard), a straitlaced Navy recruit. After Alex commits a drunken infraction designed to impress leggy physiotherapist Samantha (Brooklyn Decker), Stone issues a final-straw demand: Alex is to join him in the Navy. In seemingly no time at all, Alex has graduated to lieutenant level despite equally feckless behavior in uniform, and is in a serious relationship with Samantha, whose stern dad (Liam Neeson) just happens to be commander of the Pacific fleet.

All principals are conveniently involved, then, when Planet G's alien spacecraft crashes into the Pacific and rises ominously from the depths near the naval base in Oahu. A reconnaissance mission led by Alex and scrappy female officer Raikes (Rihanna) aggravates the visitors into opening fire, setting the stage for a protracted series of back-and-forth pyrotechnic attacks of increasing sound and fury until an abruptly curtailed finale. The comparatively limp mainland action, meanwhile, finds Samantha weathering the storm with paraplegic Army veteran Mick (real-life Iraq hero Gregory D. Gadson) and technical geek Cal (Hamish Linklater), who devises a way to break the aliens' communication wall.

"I've got a bad feeling about this," mutters Alex, a veritable Cassandra of the high seas -- and that's after two destroyer ships have already been blown to smithereens. Bright enough to quote Homer back at his commanding officer, but dim enough to think the Japanese wrote "The Art of War," he's too blandly inscrutable a hero to root for with much enthusiasm, which goes for most of the characters. The exception is Decker's Samantha, who's so unctuously inexpressive, we might actively root for her demise under one of the enemy's flaming razor-balls. The aliens, encased in markedly Power Ranger-like suits, are no more defined in personality or motivation, making it rather easy to sit back and enjoy the fireworks without taking sides any more than one would while observing, say, a game of Battleship between two strangers. (Maybe there's something to the screenwriters' claims after all.)

The attractive cast does no more than Berg and the script require, which is very little indeed. After "John Carter," Kitsch is still waiting for a film vehicle to make good on the easy, authentic charm he exhibits in TV's "Friday Night Lights," though he's physically up to the task here. Fans of pop megastar Rihanna, making her film debut, will be disappointed to find that the role of Raikes may as well be renamed Young Female Demographic for all the pertinence it has to the narrative, but she's a sparky enough presence.

Tech credits are all polished, if not as metallically sleek as they would be with a Michael Bay-style craftsman at the helm. Tobias Schliesser's lensing covers the teal-and-orange palette seemingly mandatory for such adventures these days, while Steve Jablonsky's score thumps and drones away with nary a pause, little betraying the presence of rock super-producer Rick Rubin and Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello on the music team.

The bulk of the attention in this evidently expensive production has been lavished on Industrial Light & Magic's typically immaculate effects, which are firmly in the "Transformers" mold stylistically, with the added challenge of water simulation. That such state-of-the-art creations have been used to realize a story whose climax hinges on a true-life WWII battleship, USS Missouri, outlasting its newer, shinier rivals is an irony probably lost on all involved.
