Can't get enough Ryan Gosling in "Drive"?

Check out this sweet, one-minute long, animated tribute made by fans Tom Haugomat and Bruno Mangyoku.

The web short is already picking up steam among Gosling's gaggle of followers.

And just like the silver screen version, this animated mini-movie is just as dark and violent as the critically acclaimed original.

Plus, it turns out cartoon Gosling rocks the scorpion jacket just as well as real-life Gosling.

Really, what would the holidays be without an over-the-top Khristmas kard from the Kardashians?

This year's bizarrely gloomy and gray ridiculousness does not disappoint.

There are many sequins but no smiles. Or eye contact, for that matter. Oh, and Kris Humphries has been replaced with a chair.

But one question still remains: WHERE is Khloe's bow-tie??

According to Deadline, MTV has confirmed that "Punk'd" is coming back.

A few months ago there were rumors, but now it's confirmed, and MTV will have a sneak peek of the new season on its New Year's Eve show.

Jason Goldberg and Ashton Kutcher, who created the series back when it started in 2003 are going to be back as executive producers. It was rumored that Justin Bieber would be doing the punking and hosting, but since MTV's confirmation there has been no word on whether he's involved.

This is one of the few upcoming remakes that we're actually happy about. Really, really happy.

Later Today CNN Star Piers Morgan Will Face The UK Hacking Inquiry

Piers Morgan

LONDON (AP) — CNN star interviewer Piers Morgan faces questions Tuesday about his time at the top of Britain's tabloid industry — widely anticipated testimony that may dredge up allegations his British newspaper career was colored by wrongdoing.

Morgan ran two British tabloids — the News of the World and the Daily Mirror — before his editorship was cut short by scandal in 2004. He's one of a host of tabloid newspaper executives being called before a British inquiry into media ethics set up in the wake of the News of the World phone hacking scandal, which has rocked the country's press and political elite.

More than a dozen journalists have been arrested, senior executives with Rupert Murdoch's News Corp. media empire have lost their jobs, and top U.K. police officers have resigned over their failure to tackle the scandal. Witnesses at the inquiry have exposed the seamy side of British journalism, with reporters accused of cooking up stories, blackmailing subjects, hacking phones and paying bribes to police officers to secure tips.

Morgan may have more juicy details to add. His memoirs contain tantalizing references to questionably obtained material, and the 46-year-old has acknowledged condoning unethical behavior — including overseeing payoffs to spies on rival newspapers.

Morgan denies having ever hacked a phone or knowingly run a story based on hacked information. But he's expected to be quizzed on statements that appear to refer to the practice — in particular a 2006 article in which he says he was played a phone message left by former Beatle Paul McCartney on the answering machine of his now ex-wife Heather Mills.

Mills has said there's no way Morgan could have gotten hold of the message honestly.

The inquiry, led by Lord Justice Brian Leveson, heard earlier Tuesday about the culture in tabloid newsrooms — one described by some witnesses as being scarred by bullying.

Steve Turner, the general secretary of the British Association of Journalists, said he had dealt with more than a dozen cases of bullying in the newsroom in recent years. He blamed diminishing circulation and "the demand to produce better stories and more of them from a diminishing workforce" for some of the pressure, but said the culture at Murdoch's News of the World was particularly challenging.

That, he said, may have "pressured people more than most into behaving appallingly."

Separately, the lawyer for former England soccer player Paul Gascoigne suggested that the sportsman's legal action against the News of the World was close to being settled.

Gascoigne is one of several dozen people suing the paper over claims that their phones were hacked. Lawyer Jeremy Reed said the case was "settling" but didn't give any further details.

Murdoch shut down the 168-year-old News of the World in July after the full hacking scandal broke.

These Videos Of Two Dutch TV Hosts Eating Each Other's Flesh Are Apparently An Elaborate Hoax

The Presenters of the Dutch TV show, Proefkonijnen, have caused a bit of a stink by engaging in a stunt involving the eating of each other's flesh.

Sky News reports that the two personalities had muscle surgically removed from their body for the stunt. While one host chose to have tissue removed from his abdomen, the other chose to have muscle taken from his buttock. The meat was then cooked by a chef and served to the presenters.

The two didn't comment on how the meat tasted but one of the presenters, Derek Storm, reportedly said, "It's weird to look into the eyes of a friend when you're chewing on his belly."

Have a look at the videos below.

UPDATE: A report from The Sun says that the whole stunt is an elaborate hoax to draw attention to the lack of organ donors in the Netherlands.

The first, not for the faint hearted, shows the presenters having operation to extract muscle from their bodies:

The second shows the stunt on TV (with an annoyingly edited conclusion):

How 'The Economist' Ended Up In The Muppets Movie

muppets kermit tex richman

One of the best in-jokes in the new Muppets movie is when the evil Texas oil baron Tex Richman learns that Kermit et al. may thwart his plan to raze their theater to drill for oil -- by reading The Economist.

The weekly "newspaper" gets a huge plug on the screen, and adults get to chuckle twice: first at the notion that The Economist is in a Muppets movie, and second at the idea that The Economist would actually feature the fate of the Muppets' theater on its front page.

The actual prop used in the movie, (full-size image below), carried a fake headline: "Muppets reunite for possible benefit concert." In the film, the Muppets attempt to save their theater from the wrecking ball by raising a $10 million buy-back fee.

The cover is only slightly altered from The Economist's real-life Oct. 16, 2010, edition. The headline deleted in favor of The Muppets was "Rethinking Stalin and Hitler." Wocka-wocka!

"My phone started ringing off the hook Thanksgiving weekend," when the movie opened, said Dayna DeSimone, brand communications director for the newsweekly. The Economist actually does a lot of product placement in film and TV. "The Muppets came into my inbox and you almost had a double take to make sure you were reading it correctly," she said.

Part of DeSimone's job is to ensure the magazine and its logo are used realistically, and not too insultingly. "We just make sure the character is not burning the magazine," she said.

That doesn't happen in The Muppets, but the brand is closely associated with the movie's top villain. Fox News felt the oil business was portrayed so poorly in the movie that the Muppets must be communists.

DeSimone didn't see it that way when asked for the prop back in 2010. "We didn't think too far into that to be perfectly honest. It was more that if The Economist was covering the Muppets getting back together, that would be fine in and of itself."

Here's the Muppets' version of The Economist:

Nowadays, there are plenty of other DVRs than TiVo.

But TiVo remains almost synonymous with recorded TV, and they just released their most "time-shifted" moments of 2011.

  1. Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger failing to connect with WR Mike Wallace at the end of Super Bowl XLV. (In other words, a ton of people rewound that moment.)

  2. The eulogy for Charlie Sheen's Charlie Harper on "Two and a Half Men."

  3. "The King's Speech" winning Best Picture at the 2011 Academy Awards.

Some People Who Don't Know Louis CK's Material Very Well Just Booked Him For The Congressional Correspondents Dinner

A game, winking Seth Meyers he's not, but, according to Laughspin, comedian Louis C.K. has just been booked for next June's Radio and TV Congressional Correspondents’ Dinner.

That gives him plenty of time to write some material that doesn't involve sweating during sex and the relationship between 9/11 and masturbation.

We (gleefully) doubt he'll use it.

This media-friendly Washington event is more conducive to C.K. than others -- it's not exactly a UN forum. But it's still heavy on political presence. For one, the president will be there.

But we certainly get why C.K. would accept a gig that's not quite in his wheelhouse: it's going to make awesome inspiration for an episode of "Louie."

Piers Morgan Refuses To Say How He Got Paul McCartney's Voicemail (NWS)

piers morgan

CNN host Piers Morgan told a U.K. inquiry today that he was "not aware" of the 45 journalists on The Daily Mirror, the London tabloid he used to edit, who were identified in an inquiry into the hacking of celebrities' phones.

He also said he was "never directly involved" in the use of private detectives at The Mirror or The News of the World, the other paper he was editor of, to gather information on celebrities.

Most mysteriously, he declined to say how he got an infamous scoop about the divorce of Paul McCartney which based on his listening to a recording of Heather Mills' voicemail.

The McCartney-Mills divorce story, which he retold in 2006, was based on Morgan's claim that he heard McCartney pleading with Mills on her voicemail to come back to him and repair their marriage. When asked how he was able to listen to the tape, given that the only legal possessor of it could be Mills, he replied:

"I listened to a tape of a message yes, I believe it was yes. I'm not going to discuss where I heard it or who played it to me."

The McCartney story is only one of at least 10 ways that Morgan has been linked to the inquiry.

Morgan was largely monosyllabic, and slightly petulant, as he sat under the lights at the Leveson Inquiry into illegal phone hacking, answering questions from Robert Jay QC, counsel for the inquiry. When asked about what private detectives were used for he replied:

"I don't know. Because I was never directly involved, this was dealt with through the news desk or features desk ... Certainly all journalists knew they had to act within the confines of the law. This was enshrined within their contracts; I didn't have concerns."

Similarly, Jay said that 45 named journalists on the Daily Mirror were identified by the U.K. information commissioner in the Operation Motorman report into hacking. When asked about his knowledge of those employees, Morgan said:

"I am not aware that any of those journalists were arrested, charged or convicted of anything. He may well have had a view of those journalists and the paper may have had a different view …"

Near the end of his testimony, Morgan launched into a combative speech about how little celebrities deserve privacy:

"I have very little sympathy for celebrities who sell their weddings for 1 million pounds, one of the most private days of their lives  … they are the very last people who should be protected by privacy law."

Last night, former "American Idol" runner-up David Archuleta announced that he will be completing a full mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

He said, it's "not because that I no longer want to do music anymore, but it's because it's the feeling that I felt that I need to do next in my life."

Archuleta grew up in Utah outside of Salt Lake City.

There's no way he can complete his mission in the United States, so who knows where he'll go?

Another idea: we know a way he can combine Mormonism and music...and be on Broadway.

holly richard branson weddingRichard Branson just posted a sweet note on his blog: his daughter Holly is getting married today on Necker Island, the private island in the Caribbean where Branson himself was married in 1989.

The sprawling compound on Necker Island burned to the ground in August, though no one was injured, thanks in part to heroic reaction of actress Kate Winslet, who was vacationing on the island and carried Branson's 90-year-old mother to safety.

At the time, Branson vowed to rebuild, saying his daughter Holly would get married on Necker Island's beach this winter as planned.

And now, the wedding bells are ringing.

Branson also posted this sweet anecdote (along with a photo, left) on his blog:

Here’s a photo of the last Branson family wedding on Necker Island also on December 20th but some years ago. Holly and Fred will get married at exactly the same spot, but unlike us, chose to wait for their children until married.

The day after we got married some friends announced they were getting married. "They can't be getting married. They haven't had any children yet!" eight-year-old Holly said.

Snooki's Former Licensing Company Is Suing Her For $7 Million

"Jersey Store" star Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi filed a lawsuit against SRG Ventures this summer, claiming that they'd failed to fulfill their end of the star's product agreement.

But now SRG is hitting back -- and accusing Polizzi of entertaining offers from other companies while they were trying to make a deal.

They're suing her to the tune of $7 million, the New York Post reports. The figure seems a little excessive, considering we can't imagine anyone's made nearly that much off Snooki-themed merch.

But hey, we've already watched Polizzi go to jail after drunkenly faceplanting in the sands of Seaside and ram a parked police car. Getting to see her argue a civil suit would feel downright highbrow.
