A new poster for the upcoming "Sin City" sequel featuring actress Eva Green ("300: Rise of an Empire") is too sexy for American audiences.

Page Six reports the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) rejected the following "Sin City: A Dame to Kill For" poster "for nudity — curve of under breast and dark nipple/areola circle visible through sheer gown."

The poster has been making the rounds since on Reddit and features the "300: Rise of an Empire" actress alongside the words, "I've been especially bad."

Less revealing posters featuring female leads Jessica Alba and Rosario Dawson have already been released for The Weinstein Company and Dimension Films' picture.

This Instagram Account Busts Rappers And Athletes Who Wear Fake Watches In Their Photos

fake watch

A new Instagram account called "FakeWatchBusta" is calling out all of the social media show-offs posting pictures of their diamond-encrusted watches and limited-edition timepieces.

Turns out, a lot of the time the bling is fake, but no one noticed  until now.

Fakewatchbusta is targeting rappers, athletes, reality stars, and even politicians. The account is responsible for calling out the likes of NBA star Carmelo Anthony and rappers Rick Ross, Future, Soulja Boy, and Waka Flocka Flame.

After the account started posting in March, it already has nearly 77,000 followers and counting.

Behind the "Fakewatchbusta" account is an anonymous 30-something male who "resides somewhere on the continent of Europe," acting as a vigilante of a social media. "I don’t want to [say much more] since the threat of lawsuits are starting to pile up from the jewelers selling these fake watches," he told Vice.

Fakewatchbuster explained how the account works in an interview with Hodinkee:

"The tag #Rolex give the most results and there are a lot of people trying to show off their fake watch as real to get likes and admiration from others on Instagram. When I have found a candidate for busting I re-post the watch and tag the person who posted the watch with an added little insult/humorous message. I often also tag friends of the person i'm busting to humiliate the fake owner even more."

Basically, the anonymous male trolls hashtags like #Rolex, #watches, #luxurywatches in order to publicly shame the owners of the replicated goods. What @youdidnoteatthat is to slender fashion bloggers posing with food, @fakewatchbusta is to rappers wearing watches worth more than some people's homes.

And the results are amazing.

But how does Fakewatchbusta know so much about watches? He tells Vice:

"I’m not a watchmaker, I’m just a detail freak and it’s part of my obsession with watches, it’s a million details on a space of 4cm.

I started to get into watches since they hold value really well, but I’m also very fascinated with the mechanical aspect of them. I’m not that into them for the luxury aspect of it, I’m more of a watch geek and study the different kinds of movements and how they work ... I know much about them from being an avid forum reader and a detail freak; even some of the real watches have details that are off sometimes and that irritated me. I started to study some of the quality control issues in the Swiss watch industry and this led me to know the real watches very well."

‘Captain America’ Actor Says He Was Tackled By A ‘Very Famous Rapper’ During His Worst Audition

When “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” came to theaters this April, Anthony Mackie broke out as new superhero favorite, The Falcon.

Before joining the Marvel team, things weren’t always so smooth for the actor.

In a web exclusive video for “The Tonight Show,” Mackie detailed his worst audition ever involving a a fight he got into with a rapper.

“I auditioned for a very famous rapper who was directing a movie and he came in during the middle of my audition and preceded to tell me that because I went to Juilliard, I wasn’t a real actor and I was an awful actor,” said Mackie.

That didn’t sit well with him.

“So I told him that his parents should have given him a proper burial as opposed to giving birth to him,” said Mackie. “He flipped the table and tackled me and all of his friends.”

Mackie said it was so bad the cast and crew had to call security to pull them off of each other.

It goes without saying Mackie didn’t get the role.

While the actor didn’t reveal the identity of the rapper/director, a few rappers who went on to direct include RZA and 50 Cent

Super Mario Gets A Mercedes In This Awesome Ad

If you've ever played a Super Mario game, you're going to love the new Japanese commercial for the Mercedes-Benz GLA SUV.

In it, an 8-bit Mario smashes blocks, collects coins, and runs over baddies in a pixelated Benz. When he wraps up the level, the NES game turns live-action, and a tough looking Mario in Batman-esque armor emerges from the SUV.

Check it out:

Besides being a fun ad, it marks a notable shift for both Nintendo and Mercedes-Benz.

It's the first example of Nintendo licensing its intellectual property after its president Satoru Iwata announced the company would move in this direction as it struggles to profit from games on its Wii U console, Bloomberg reports. The GLA will also be the first real-life car available in the upcoming "Mario Kart 8."

The commercial is a change from the typically sleek and sophisticated ads Mercedes-Benz has become associated with.

"We are a relative newcomer in the market of SUVs. We felt we needed an element of surprise to grab consumers' attention," Michie Ogata, of Mercedes-Benz's Tokyo communications department, told the Wall Street Journal.

ferris bueller's day off house

It's one of the most recognizable houses from the movies, but no one has been willing to buy it ... until now.

The house, where Cameron Frye lived (and totaled his dad's beloved 1961 Ferrari 250 GT California Spyder convertible) in "Ferris Bueller's Day Off," has finally sold for $1.06 million after five years on the market, Crain's Chicago Business reports.

The home, in Highland Park, Illinois, had initially been listed for $2.3 million, and its asking price at the time of the sale was $1.2 million, according to CBB.

While there's no word yet on the buyers of the glass-and-steel, four-bedroom home, it's safe to say they won't forget to use their parking brake.

Most people will recognize this glass garage from "Ferris Bueller's Day Off." Luckily for the new owners, the glass has been repaired.

The home is located in the Chicago suburb of Highland Park, close enough to the city for a quick spin during a school day.

Designed by architect James Speyer, the house consists of two separate buildings.

'E.T.' Was Initially A Horror Film And Here Are The Original Designs To Prove It

E.T. movie

Steven Spielberg’s classic “E.T.” is heralded as one of the director’s best works today. It’s also one of the highest-grossing.

However, you may not realize the film about a friendly extraterrestrial was originally envisioned as a horror movie that was supposed to be a sequel to Spielberg's "Close Encounters of the Third Kind."

The movie, then referred to as “Night Skies,” was supposed to feature aliens “who could kill each other” using the tips of their fingers, according to Time. There was also a good alien in the group, too, named Buddy who more or less reflected E.T.

Spielberg ultimately deemed the idea too dark and we ended up with the film we know today.

Since the idea for “Night Skies” was tossed around, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that there were some early ideas of how the aliens should look.

Special effects artist Rick Baker recently shared some of his original concept art and designs for the aliens from "E.T." and "Night Skies" on Twitter, and boy are they a lot different from the alien we grew up with.

First, here’s the cuddly E.T. we know:E.T.

Below are some of the images Baker shared of a much different, angrier alien.

This alien may look kind of unrecognizable now ...

... but take off the top of the head and there's a familiar face underneath.

Here's the design of the full alien which had a preying mantis-like arm.

Volkswagen GTI Roadster Gran Turismo

Every year, fans of Volkswagen's sporty GTI hatchback congregate in celebration at the GTI Festival in Wörthersee, Austria.

As a gesture of gratitude towards its adoring fans, the German auto giant unveiled its videogame-derived GTI Roadster, the Vision Gran Turismo, at this year's event.

Originally created for Playstation 3's blockbuster "Gran Turismo 6" video game, the two-seat roadster features a bevy of Volkswagen's most advanced performance trickery wrapped in some of the most seductively stylish body work to ever come out of Wolfsburg.

VW chose a twin-turbocharged 3.0 litre V-6 engine producing 503 horsepower and an earth-stopping 413 lb/ft of torque to power what it calls " the most spectacular GTI ever." The tarted-up version of VW's corporate V-6 is mated with a trick seven-speed DSG twin-clutch transmission and 4Motion all-wheel drive.

All of this power and technology translates into a claimed top speed of 192mph and a 0-60 mph sprint of just 3.5 seconds. In addition to the powerful motor, the GTI Roadster's performance figures are boosted by its sleek aerodynamic body and light carbon fiber construction. The minimalist interior is dominated by the pair of carbon fiber tubs that hold the driver and passenger seats along with a driver-centric cockpit display.

As a concept, it is very unlikely the GTI Roadster, Vision Gran Turismo will every make it to the showroom. However, according to the Daily Mail, enthusiasts interested in the concept will be able to download and drive the car in their "Gran Turismo 6" video games in June.

A New 'Hunger Games' Mobile Game Will Let You Pretend You're A Resident Of Panem

It was only a matter of time.

On Friday, Lionsgate and San Francisco-based game studio Kabam announced that they are partnering to build a game based on the "Hunger Game" series. The game will be a role-playing and card-collecting game, and it will be available for phones and tablets.

The game will be free to play at launch, but players will be able to make in-app purchases to buy new levels or upgrade characters.  In it, you will play as a District member who is sent on a mission to build alliances, liberate your District, and rebuild Panem.

Other film-based games in Kabam's arsenal include "Fast & Furious 6: The Game," (iOS | Android) "The Godfather: Five Families," and "The Hobbit: Kingdoms of Middle-earth" (iOS | Android), which grossed more than $100 million in revenue in the first year.

A release date has not yet been announced for "The Hunger Games" game, but it's expected to be released around the same time that "Mockingjay — Part 1" comes out, which is in November, according to Variety.

The first two "Hunger Games" films have grossed more than $1.5 billion, so it's pretty safe to say that this game will be a hit — if it's done well, that is. Judging by Kabam's other games, however, it should be pretty awesome.

"Partnering with Lionsgate, Kabam will build a mobile game that's as much fun to play as the movie is to watch," Kabam Chief Operating Officer Kent Wakeford said in a statement.

This Man Used His Epic Beard To Build A Social Media Empire

incredibeard

One photo uploaded to Instagram was all it took for Isaiah Webb to realize he was on to something big.

Sporting a bushy beard and t-shirt on Sep. 10, 2012, Webb posted a snapshot of himself with the caption of "The 'Lorax' beard" along with a number of hashtags.

Just like that, "Incredibeard" was born.

Nearly two years later, most of Webb's 250,000+ social media followers know him only as Incredibeard — a self-proclaimed nickname that describes the wild facial hair designs to be expected from the 30-year-old San Francisco Bay Area native.

He started out slow, building a following organically and not really promoting himself. But it wasn't long before people started noticing and following along for what he and his wife would think of next.

"We got more and more people [following]," Webb told me, adding that he started coming up with a consistent schedule of new designs and photos to accompany them. His small following became huge just a few months later, thanks to Reddit.

"It exploded on Reddit," he said of the images posted to the popular social-sharing website. "And people just found me."

incredibeardWhile Reddit grew his social media following on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter, it was a contest put on by Marc Jacobs that did even more. Called "#MJinLA," entrants had to shoot a video showing why they deserve to be a star; and if picked, then contest winners would receive clothes, a trip to Los Angeles, and a photo shoot with renowned celebrity photographer Brian Bowen Smith.

He thought he had no chance, especially when facing beautiful women, popular bloggers, and others. "Who am I?" he thought.

"I was blown away because the president of the company actually hand-picked mine," Webb said.

Flying down to L.A., he said, was the tipping point for turning his beard into an actual business. While there, he spoke with a number of higher-ups with Marc Jacobs and in the fashion industry, giving him the extra push he needed.

It would be the spark for Incredibeard Co., a storefront for t-shirts, tank-tops, and all things beard grooming.

The Ramen Beard

Shortly after his return home, Webb — who up to this point had thought up all the crazy beard designs himself or with the help of his wife — asked his fans what to do next.

A fan's suggestion on Facebook was a bowl with chopsticks in it. "I was like, 'I'll do you one better, I'll put something in that bowl,'" he said.

Webb shot a now infamous — and pretty hilarious — video of a "beard bowl" with Ramen noodles. It didn't make much of an initial splash, but that changed a couple weeks later.

"All it has to do is hit one person," Webb said. "And that happened — and it just went boom and it exploded. It went from 2,000 views to 650,000 views on YouTube." (The video now has more than 700,000).

Besides going viral, the video landed him coverage with Mashable, CNN, and many others. He was even featured in a television ad for the 2014 Honda Civic.

And a Facebook algorithm change, he said, grew his following over 100,000 a few months later.

While his Ramen beard is pretty hard to top, Webb does have some friendly competition. His growing Facebook page has become a sounding board for the bearded among us to show off their own designs.

Now, Webb still uses his social media base to share interesting beard designs, as well as t-shirts and beard grooming products in his own store — with a portion of sales also helping provide access to clean water for children.

"If you can affect even just one person's life and save them," Webb said of why he chose to give away some profits to charity. "That's pretty amazing."

So far, he's affected 198.

Here's What Happens In Anna Paquin's Deleted 'X-Men: Days Of Future Past' Scene

$

x men days of future past

"X-Men: Days of Future Past" reunites most of the old "X-Men" cast with the newer, younger cast of "X-Men: First Class."

The film has everyone from Hugh Jackman and Ian McKellen to Jennifer Lawrence and James McAvoy. Even Halle Berry reprises her role as Storm in the sequel.

However, you may have noticed one major character from the original series missing from most of the action.

Except for a minor cameo near the film's end, Anna Paquin's Rogue, who was a focus of the original "X-Men" in 2000, was removed in the film's editing process.

Director Bryan Singer previously explained to Entertainment Weekly how Paquin's appearance would have involved a big rescue sequence involving Charles Xavier (Patrick Stewart), Magneto (Ian McKellen), and Iceman (Shawn Ashmore).

Unfortunately, Singer said it ended up being "extraneous" to the overall film.

There's been a lot of speculation on what exactly Rogue's cut scene was and how it fit into the overall arc of 'Days of Future Past."

Screenwriter Simon Kinberg recently expanded on Rogue's cut sequence in an interview with Empire magazine, detailing what went on in an elaborate 10-minute scene that would have pushed the film closer to a two-and-a-half hour movie.

What Happens In The Deleted Scene

x men days of future past wolverine

For those who haven’t seen the film there are some spoilers ahead.

In the film, Kitty Pryde (Ellen Page) sends Wolverine (Jackman) back to the past to save the X-Men and all of mankind from giant mutant-hunting robots (just go with it).

During one part late in the film, Pryde accidentally gets stabbed by Wolverine while he's being sent back in time leaving her wounded badly. There's one X-Men who has the ability to borrow other mutants' powers for a while.

Enter Rogue.

Iceman, Magneto, and Xavier would have went to save the mutant from some "dark, scary place" and bring her to where the X-Men were hiding out to step in for Kitty.*

If you go back and watch the first official trailer for the movie, you can actually catch glimpses of the cut scenes with Paquin.

Here's Paquin being saved from that dark place by Iceman and Magneto (no Xavier in sight).

anna paquin x men days of future past

Here's another image of McKellen and Ashmore. Things are looking pretty bleak.iceman magneto days of future past

And here's Rogue appearing to get ready to use her powers on Kitty Pryde.rogue days of future past

For fans watching the movie knowing Rogue was cut, it's pretty evident this is where she most likely would have made her entrance. In this case, it would have made perfect sense for her character to aid Pryde.

Why It Was Cut

Kinberg went into depth with Empire magazine on why the scene didn't make it into the film.

Via Empire

“The Rogue subplot was originally there because I wanted a mission for the older Charles and Eric to do, something like Unforgiven – two last gunslingers, Clint Eastwood and Morgan Freeman – that kind of a mission for them. I just loved the idea of that. Nothing in the story necessitated that, but just for a lark, I thought it would be a cool thing to see, because we may never see it again.

“But it does not service the main story. I thought it would increase the urgency and the stakes of the plot in the future, but it actually does the opposite, because it makes you feel like there is an answer out there. You think once Rogue gets here, we’ll have an unlimited amount of time. The ticking clock that we’d established with Kitty getting wounded and losing her powers… well, Rogue would show up and press stop on the clock. So for all of those narrative reasons, there was this ten-minute subplot that had to go.”

As Kinberg and Singer have said, the big rescue scene doesn't sound necessary (though cool nonetheless).

However, if they really wanted to keep Paquin in the film, it would have made sense if Rogue was just with the group of X-Men from the movie's start so she could have helped out with Wolverine later on.

If you're bummed about the scene being cut, both Singer and Kinberg have said it will most likely appear as an extra once the film's released.

*Earlier, I noted Rogue would most likely step in to borrow Wolverine’s healing powers to save a wounded Kitty Pryde, but as a reader pointed out Rogue would only be able to heal herself as opposed to other characters (sorry Kitty). The story has been edited to reflect this change.

15 Secret References You Never Noticed In Your Favorite Movies

The Departed X death

The best part about rewatching movies is catching hidden references you didn't see the first time around.

These hidden references are sometimes known as Easter eggs. They can be anything from an inside joke on set to a shout-out to another film.

From "Star Wars" to "The Godfather," let's go on a scavenger hunt for some of the best hidden references in your favorite films.

Most movie Easter eggs subtly reference another piece of pop culture. For example, 1982's "Tron" hid the arcade favorite "Pac-Man" on a map within the film's video-game-like grid.

They can also be used by directors to acknowledge one another. This was the case when Steven Spielberg's 1981 "Raiders of the Lost Ark" included a hieroglyphic of R2-D2 and C-3PO from George Lucas' 1977 "Star Wars."

Spielberg did it again when he named a club in 1984's "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom" after the Jedi master Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Hunter S. Thompson On Finding Your Purpose In Life

$
0
0

hunter s thomspson

In April of 1958, Hunter S. Thompson was 22 years old when he wrote this letter to his friend Hume Logan in response to a request for life advice.

Thompson's letter, found in "Letters of Note," offers some of the most thoughtful and profound advice I've ever come across. [bolding is our own]

April 22, 1958
57 Perry Street
New York City

Dear Hume,

You ask advice: ah, what a very human and very dangerous thing to do! For to give advice to a man who asks what to do with his life implies something very close to egomania. To presume to point a man to the right and ultimate goal — to point with a trembling finger in the RIGHT direction is something only a fool would take upon himself.

I am not a fool, but I respect your sincerity in asking my advice. I ask you though, in listening to what I say, to remember that all advice can only be a product of the man who gives it. What is truth to one may be disaster to another. I do not see life through your eyes, nor you through mine. If I were to attempt to give you specific advice, it would be too much like the blind leading the blind.

"To be, or not to be: that is the question: Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, or to take arms against a sea of troubles … " (Shakespeare)

And indeed, that IS the question: whether to float with the tide, or to swim for a goal. It is a choice we must all make consciously or unconsciously at one time in our lives. So few people understand this! Think of any decision you've ever made which had a bearing on your future: I may be wrong, but I don't see how it could have been anything but a choice however indirect — between the two things I've mentioned: the floating or the swimming.

But why not float if you have no goal? That is another question. It is unquestionably better to enjoy the floating than to swim in uncertainty. So how does a man find a goal? Not a castle in the stars, but a real and tangible thing. How can a man be sure he's not after the "big rock candy mountain," the enticing sugar-candy goal that has little taste and no substance?

The answer — and, in a sense, the tragedy of life — is that we seek to understand the goal and not the man. We set up a goal which demands of us certain things: and we do these things. We adjust to the demands of a concept which CANNOT be valid. When you were young, let us say that you wanted to be a fireman. I feel reasonably safe in saying that you no longer want to be a fireman. Why? Because your perspective has changed. It's not the fireman who has changed, but you. Every man is the sum total of his reactions to experience. As your experiences differ and multiply, you become a different man, and hence your perspective changes. This goes on and on. Every reaction is a learning process; every significant experience alters your perspective.

So it would seem foolish, would it not, to adjust our lives to the demands of a goal we see from a different angle every day? How could we ever hope to accomplish anything other than galloping neurosis?

The answer, then, must not deal with goals at all, or not with tangible goals, anyway. It would take reams of paper to develop this subject to fulfillment. God only knows how many books have been written on "the meaning of man" and that sort of thing, and god only knows how many people have pondered the subject. (I use the term "god only knows" purely as an expression.) There's very little sense in my trying to give it up to you in the proverbial nutshell, because I'm the first to admit my absolute lack of qualifications for reducing the meaning of life to one or two paragraphs.

I'm going to steer clear of the word "existentialism," but you might keep it in mind as a key of sorts. You might also try something called "Being and Nothingness" by Jean-Paul Sartre, and another little thing called "Existentialism: From Dostoyevsky to Sartre." These are merely suggestions. If you're genuinely satisfied with what you are and what you're doing, then give those books a wide berth. (Let sleeping dogs lie.) But back to the answer. As I said, to put our faith in tangible goals would seem to be, at best, unwise. So we do not strive to be firemen, we do not strive to be bankers, nor policemen, nor doctors. WE STRIVE TO BE OURSELVES.

But don't misunderstand me. I don't mean that we can't BE firemen, bankers, or doctors — but that we must make the goal conform to the individual, rather than make the individual conform to the goal. In every man, heredity and environment have combined to produce a creature of certain abilities and desires — including a deeply ingrained need to function in such a way that his life will be MEANINGFUL. A man has to BE something; he has to matter.

As I see it then, the formula runs something like this: a man must choose a path which will let his ABILITIES function at maximum efficiency toward the gratification of his DESIRES. In doing this, he is fulfilling a need (giving himself identity by functioning in a set pattern toward a set goal), he avoids frustrating his potential (choosing a path which puts no limit on his self-development), and he avoids the terror of seeing his goal wilt or lose its charm as he draws closer to it (rather than bending himself to meet the demands of that which he seeks, he has bent his goal to conform to his own abilities and desires).

In short, he has not dedicated his life to reaching a pre-defined goal, but he has rather chosen a way of life he KNOWS he will enjoy. The goal is absolutely secondary: it is the functioning toward the goal which is important. And it seems almost ridiculous to say that a man MUST function in a pattern of his own choosing; for to let another man define your own goals is to give up one of the most meaningful aspects of life — the definitive act of will which makes a man an individual.

Let's assume that you think you have a choice of eight paths to follow (all pre-defined paths, of course). And let's assume that you can't see any real purpose in any of the eight. THEN — and here is the essence of all I've said— you MUST FIND A NINTH PATH.

Naturally, it isn't as easy as it sounds. You've lived a relatively narrow life, a vertical rather than a horizontal existence. So it isn't any too difficult to understand why you seem to feel the way you do. But a man who procrastinates in his CHOOSING will inevitably have his choice made for him by circumstance.

So if you now number yourself among the disenchanted, then you have no choice but to accept things as they are, or to seriously seek something else. But beware of looking for goals: look for a way of life. Decide how you want to live and then see what you can do to make a living WITHIN that way of life. But you say, "I don't know where to look; I don't know what to look for."

And there's the crux. Is it worth giving up what I have to look for something better? I don't know — is it? Who can make that decision but you? But even by DECIDING TO LOOK, you go a long way toward making the choice.

If I don't call this to a halt, I'm going to find myself writing a book. I hope it's not as confusing as it looks at first glance. Keep in mind, of course, that this is MY WAY of looking at things. I happen to think that it's pretty generally applicable, but you may not. Each of us has to create our own credo — this merely happens to be mine.

If any part of it doesn't seem to make sense, by all means call it to my attention. I'm not trying to send you out "on the road" in search of Valhalla, but merely pointing out that it is not necessary to accept the choices handed down to you by life as you know it. There is more to it than that — no one HAS to do something he doesn't want to do for the rest of his life. But then again, if that's what you wind up doing, by all means convince yourself that you HAD to do it. You'll have lots of company.

And that's it for now. Until I hear from you again, I remain,

your friend,
Hunter

Still curious? "Letters of Note" is full of unexpected awesomeness.

Over the weekend, Disney lost not one, but two directors on future Marvel projects.

Late Friday, Marvel announced director Edgar Wright ("Hot Fuzz") departed next summer’s “Ant-Man” movie. Shortly afterward, word spread that showrunner Drew Goddard was leaving Disney’s “Daredevil” project that’s heading exclusively to Netflix.

The consensus from the film community was a collective display of shock: What is going on?

Up until now, Disney's Marvel machine has cranked out success after success. Its recent "Captain America" sequel has taken in more than $700 million worldwide.

These two announcements suggest all may not be well behind the scenes as Disney attempts to continue its domineering comic book franchise.

The first piece of news was a giant blow since Wright invested a lot of time and effort on “Ant-Man,” attached to the film since 2006.

edgar wright ant-man“Ant-Man” is set to be the first film released after next year’s “Avengers” sequel. It will be the start of “phase three” of Marvel’s giant cinematic universe, so for Wright to leave something must have went very, very wrong.

The film's release was recently moved up from Nov. 6, 2015 to mid-July after Warner Bros.' "Batman V Superman" movie was pushed back 10 months

The explanation for Wright's departure is being labeled as creative differences and script rewrites from Marvel brass who wanted to insert established characters into the film.

According to Latino Review, that didn’t sit well with Wright after his script was heavily altered.

Via Latino Review

"The meat of the notes were about the core morality of the piece, must include franchise characters. etc., These notes came from the big four at Marvel. Joe Cornish and Edgar Wright did two drafts to try and answer the notes without compromising their vision. 6 weeks ago Marvel took the script off them and gave the writing assignment to two very low credit writers. One of the writers was from Marvel’s in house writing team. Edgar stayed cool, agreed to stay on the project, and read the draft. The script came in this week and was completely undone. Poorer, homogenized, and not Edgar’s vision. Edgar met with Marvel on Friday to formally exit and the announcement went out directly after."

In interviews, Wright has said his idea for the film was to be a standalone film, something that may not have gone over well since Disney and Marvel have been very particular about connecting its films — and TV show— into a larger franchise engine.

By 2011, Wright said a third draft of the film’s script had been completed.

After that, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige said "Ant-Man" needed to be reworked to fit into the larger Marvel Universe citing that the movie was in development prior to the release of the first "Iron Man."

Regarding the "Daredevil" news, the TV project will try and reintroduce the character since a 2003 film adaptation featuring Ben Affleck was heavily panned by critics and fans alike.

According to Marvel, Goddard left the Disney and Marvel project to work on another comic book movie— Sony's upcoming "Amazing Spider-Man" spinoff film "The Sinister Six."

Soon after Goddard's departure, Marvel announced Steven S. DeKnight ("Spartacus") will take over as showrunner. Goddard will remain on board as an executive producer. The 13-episode series is set to debut in 2015.

Here's where the success of Disney's Marvel multi-faceted universe will prove its strength.

daredevil

While Marvel has already established a core group of very successful superheroes in Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America, it now must do that all over again with "Guardians of the Galaxy" in August and then Ant-Man and Daredevil.

None of the superheroes are really well known to a general audience, and what is known about the latter isn't exactly great. (Even Affleck has spoken out against that film.)

The direction of the "Ant-Man" film should cause some concern since Wright — who was so passionately involved in the project for nearly a decade, teasing it at Comic Con conventions for years — left when the film is due out in almost a year's time.

Though Disney has said otherwise, that exit may push the movie back if a replacement for Wright isn't found soon as production had been set to begin mid-2014.

Disney and Marvel obviously know what they're doing with superhero movies — they've brought some of the biggest franchises to screen — however, at the same time, making every single film need to fit inside the already established franchise starts to limit the amount of creative license any one director can have on future characters as Marvel's Cinematic Universe only grows larger.

Comedian Patton Oswalt Temporarily Quits Twitter After Polarizing Tweets About Women's Rights

Patton OswaltComedian Patton Oswalt says he's going to disconnect from social media for the summer following a series of tweets regarding women's rights.

Specifically, Oswalt has been a supporter of the #YesAllWomen movement that has spread through Twitter following the shooting near UC Santa Barbara over Memorial Day weekend.

Oswalt is a supporter of the movement, but many of his followers aren't. A lot of his followers appear to be advocates of Men's Rights and Red Pill, two subcultures on Reddit and other social media sites that promote the belief men are superior to women.

Over the last several days, Oswalt has continued to support the #YesAllWomen movement on Twitter.

He also made a geeky analogy that didn't go over so well with his fans on both sides of the issue:

Following all the backlash, Oswalt wrote in a post on Facebook that says he won't post anything except promotional materials for his live shows and movies to Twitter or Facebook until September 2.

Here's how he put it:

I've become my own tyrant — Tweeting, and then responding to my own responses, and then fighting people who disagree with me. Constantly feeling like I have to have an instant take on things, instead of taking a breath, and getting as much information as I can about the world. Or simply listening to the people around me, and watching the world and picking up its hidden rhythms, which crouch underneath the micro and the macro. But I've lost sight of them. And it's because of this — there's a portal to a shadow planet in my right hand, the size of a deck of cards, and I can't keep myself from peeling off one card after another, looking for a rare ace of sensation.

...

So — I'm engineering a summer. From today, June 1st, until Tuesday, September 2nd. Radio silent. No Twitter, no Facebook. There'll be a few announcements here and on my Twitter feed — mostly for shows and some movies I'm about to appear in — but I scheduled these to drop weeks and months from now, without me having to do them on the day. The chairs are up on the tables, the floor's been swept, and I'm locking up my tiny, personal online nightclub until the leaves turn brown. If Chili John's in Burbank can thrive while still closing for the summer, I ought to do just fine.

How Peter Dinklage Became The Beloved 'Game Of Thrones' Bad Boy

game of thrones tyrion trial by combat"A Lannister always pays his debts."

Actor Peter Dinklage, however, has few debts to pay.

The Jersey-born actor essentially bootstrapped his career, living as a self-described starving artist for years before reaching his "Game of Thrones" success.

Now appearing as the brilliant villain in "X-Men: Days of Future Past," Dinklage ranks among Hollywood's most-wanted actors — and just happens to be a dwarf.

See his meteoric rise to fame.

Peter Dinklage was born to a Morristown, New Jersey, couple in the summer of '69. He said his childhood was "uneventful" — his father sold insurance, and his mother taught music at an elementary school.

His parents never treated him like he was special, Dinklage says, despite being the only dwarf in his family. The chance of being born with achondroplasia, a genetic disorder that causes abnormalities in bone formation, is 1 in 25,000.

The Dinklages didn't even have a TV set in the house — or so he thought. In his teens, Peter discovered his parents watching a black-and-white TV they had purchased and hid in the bedroom closet. "It was 'Three's Company' from then on out," he says.

The Mountain, Game of Thrones

Warning: Minor spoilers ahead!

If you just watched Sunday night's episode of "Game of Thrones," you're reeling about one character: Ser Gregor Clegane, also known as "The Mountain."

He was involved in a major jaw-droppingly gruesome fight scene Sunday night with Prince Oberyn Martell.

You may not recognize the Mountain, but he's been featured on the show before causing a lot of damage off screen.

He's responsible not only for burning the face of his brother, The Hound, but also murdering women and children. Another reason he remains slightly mysterious is because the character has been played by three different actors.

Conan Stevens played him in season one.

Then in season two, the role was recast with Ian Whyte.

"Game of Thrones" does occasionally replace minor characters, so recasting The Mountain wasn't too out of the ordinary.

On Sunday's episode (aptly titled "The Mountain and the Viper"), he was played by Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson, the world's second strongest man

The Mountain, Game of Thrones, Season 4

During a recent Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything), the 6'9, 419-pound weightlifter discussed how he got the part as Westeros' most intimidating force.

"They (HBO) contacted me and called me in for an audition," Björnsson said in the AMA. "During the audition I lifted the guy up (well he asked me to) and they were really impressed."

The massive Icelandic powerlifter-turned-actor added he consumes about 10,000 calories a day and was even recruited to play for NFL's Indianapolis Colts, but ultimately had to decline.

"I had to choose between being a strong man competitor as well as an actor  and the NFL," said Björnsson. "Right now my head and my goal is becoming the Worlds Strongest Man!"
