In November, "Daily Show" correspondent John Oliver announced he would be leaving the Comedy Central news show to host a similar program on HBO called "Last Week Tonight."

The new show premieres April 27 and will air on Sunday nights at 11pm, providing a satirical look at the week in news, politics and current events.

But don't expect Oliver to break news "as it happens," as he assures the show will only be covering news that happened throughout the week.

The 'Big Hug Mug' On 'True Detective' Is Selling For Outrageous Prices On eBay

Big Hug Mug True Detective

Fans of HBO's hit series "True Detective" have surely noticed character Rust Cohle has one constant show prop that is a bit friendlier than he is.

Whenever Matthew McConaughey's character Rust is at the police-station table, he sits next to a bright yellow mug that reads "Big Hug Mug" in red block lettering.

Production designer Alex DiGerlando recently told Vulture that there's no secret hidden message behind the mug, just an opportunity to insert some levity into the show, “because it is relentlessly dark.”

"I’m so pissed I didn’t go on eBay before the show aired and not buy up a bunch of those," added DiGerlando. "They’re worth a small fortune now.”

And indeed, they are.

While most coffee mugs will only set you back a couple of bucks, the now famous "Big Hug Mug" is going for around $100 on eBay.

A current auction ending in three days is already up to $106.

Other recent eBay auctions vary in price from $70 to over $100.

For those who don't want to shell out for the pricey coffee holder, you can bid on this way less cool copycat for $32 that boasts, "Well this isn’t the same one (notice the color)....but it is close! And at a fraction of the cost."

Awesome Parody Video Replaces The 'Jurassic Park' Velociraptors With Cats

One of the best scenes from the 1993 film Jurassic Park is when the velociraptors get loose in the park and chase the kids into the kitchen.

As with any popular movie scene, there comes a time when it needs a parody. Luckily for Jurassic Park (and cat) fans, that time is now.

The clip below, created by the Bangkok-based We Are Camera Studio, has taken away the terrifying velociraptors (which we must warn you, are lethal, and we do mean lethal) with cute, albeit huge, cats.

The result is, well, pretty awesome. Here's the original in case you have forgotten.

12 Actors Who Should Rejuvenate Their Careers With TV Shows

$

Eddie Murphy

With the rise of quality cable programming and things like Netflix, no longer is television a second-class citizen in Hollywood.

In fact, TV's become a place for movie types to experiment, take chances, and reinvigorate their careers without feeling like they're slumming it.

Just look at Kevin Spacey's resurgence thanks to House of Cards or the love True Detective's getting. The question is: Who else could use the boost back atop the A-List with the help of a hit show? We have some suggestions.

Movie stars who should use TV for a comeback >

1. Reese Witherspoon can act, she just needs "grittier material."

Coming off her Oscar win for Walk the Line in 2006, Reese Witherspoon was the hottest actress in the biz.

But she was unable to capitalize on the momentum, bogged down by forgettable films like Just Like Heaven, Water for Elephants, How Do You Know, Four Christmases, and This Means War.

Her turn in Mud though reminded the world that she's more than just a pretty face. She can act, especially if she's given some grittier material.

2. Edward Norton hasn't had a hit movie since 2003.

Do you realize the last movie to score above 75% on Rotten Tomatoes with Edward Norton in a lead role is 2003's 25th Hour?

It's been more than a decade since he's starred in anything worth talking about, and he's way too great an actor for that. Instead of being relegated to bit parts, we'd like to see Norton as the central character in a serialized cable show.

3. Winona Ryder could take on a new age range of roles.

Winona Ryder hasn't been given a decent part since Girl, Interrupted, and that's no way to treat someone who has Reality Bites, Heathers, Beetlejuice, and Edward Scissorhands on her resume.

It's been so long that now she has the kind of life experience to open her up to an entirely new set of roles. She was one of the best things in Black Swan, but was criminally underutilized.

Cable needs some Winona in its life.

"Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey" debuts Sunday, March 9 at 9 p.m. EDT on Fox.

The 13-part documentary series, hosted by astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson is a revival of Carl Sagan's PBS program "Cosmos: A Personal Voyage" from 1980.

"Family Guy" creator Seth MacFarlane is the show's executive producer as well as Sagan's widow, Ann Druyan. Druyan was a co-writer on the original series and is stepping into that role again on the new series.

Our understanding of science and technology has advanced significantly in the 34 years since the first "Cosmos" aired. The new series will reflect those changes, including the heavy use of special effects, which you can get a preview in the electric, roughly three-minute trailer below.

We will be live tweeting the premiere, so follow along @bi_science.

AMC released gorgeous ad posters for the final season of “Mad Men.”

The elaborate psychedelic key art for season 7 is from Milton Glaser, the graphic designer behind the ever popular I NY logo.

If you’re looking for clues about the final season in the artwork, creator Matt Weiner told the New York Times the poster is “related to the late ‘60s.”

“It maintains the idea that this is somehow going on in Don Draper’s mind, which is what the story is always about — and what the back of his head is about, on some level.”

“Mad Men” returns to AMC April 13.

Internet meme-famous 'Grumpy Cat' is making another public appearance at the South by Southwest Conference in Austin, Texas, and as you would expect, she could care less about the adoring fans.

People have been lining up to meet the real-life cat at the Mashable House and get their picture taken, but the cat known to sport a permanent frown is totally unimpressed. While she made an appearance last year, she's still a crowd favorite.

Grumpy Cat, a nearly 2-year-old mixed breed named Tardar Sauce, became internet-famous last year after one of her handlers, Bryan Bundesen, posted a photo of her to Reddit.

Here are some of the photos:

And a couple from last year:

Correction: An earlier version of this article said this was the cat's first public appearance. That was actually last year. We apologize for the error.

"Saturday Night Live" opened with a sketch in which President Obama, expertly played by Jay Pharaoh, admits to having a hard time convincing Vladimir Putin to stop invading Ukraine.

Obama enlists the real Liam Neeson to send a stronger message.

"I want to give Putin a personal message from me," Neeson began. "Vladimir, I’ve never met you. I don’t have experience in international diplomacy, but what I do have is a very specific set of skills. Skills that would make me a nightmare for you. By which I mean I’m an actor in Hollywood with a lot of connections.”

Neeson and Obama then presented their project, “written in a language [Putin] could understand”: a video where Obama goes shirtless,  wrestles animals, and goes motorbike-riding.

Lena Dunham opened her “Saturday Night Live” monologue by explaining that every TV show has its "thing."

"'Seinfeld' has the puffy shirt, "Home Improvement" had the neighbor talking over the fence," she explained. "And we have very graphic sex scenes. That's our thing."

Dunham also noted that because of this, fans now feel comfortable to randomly come up to her and offer “details about their sex lives.”

Cue "SNL" cast members crashing Dunham's monologue with sex questions. Watch below:

Cecily Strong and Colin Jost opened "Weekend Update" by inviting Matthew McConaughey (played by Taran Killam) on the news show.

After the anchors congratulated the actor on his Oscar win, McConaughey responded in true McConaughey form, "Don't congratulate me, congratulate the man I was a week ago. Congratulate the man I'm chasing."

McConaughey then continued to talk about "True Detective," his family, and career — all while making absolutely zero sense. Watch Killam's incredible impression below:

Cecily Strong then interviewed "Vladimir Putin's best friends from growing up," expertly played by Vanessa Bayer and Fred Armisen, who made a return cameo.

While they first tried to defend their friend by saying, "He's a great guy, he makes us laugh, he likes to hang out and talk," the two quickly change their tune, explaining "I will say, I wish when he invited us to things, he didn't invite, like, all of his other friends."

Lena Dunham Stars In 'Adam & Eve' Parody Of 'Girls' On 'SNL'

What would happen if Lena Dunham's HBO series "Girls" was set in biblical times?

Dunham found out when she starred as Eve in a parody of the story of Adam and Eve called “Girl.”

And just like the original, there's plenty of nudity, Shoshannah hair buns, an aptly named Adam, and a twentysomething just trying to find her place in the world.

At one point, Dunham’s Eve asks God if he’s trying to “apple shame” her, and she says, “I know I committed original sin, but at least it’s original, and I think I deserve some credit for that.”

Because before there was "Girls," there was the first "Girl." Watch below:

This Cable Channel's Newest App Will Let You Watch 15 Second TV Shows

Robot Unicorn Attack

Cable channel Cartoon Network will be launching a brand new app later this year that will let users play games and watch 15 second TV shows reports The New York Times.

The free app will be called Cartoon Network Anything.

It won't be tied to a specific cable provider compared to most streaming apps which require users to prove they an authentic cable subscription.

Although Cartoon Network has launched plenty of apps in the past, Waldron explains that the company wanted to "boil down Cartoon Network to its essence, to the smallest device."

The app will constantly update with new 15 second original content which will include a mix of videos, games, and potentially new cartoons.

More viewers are flocking towards mobile devices to watch videos and Waldron explained that the app is called a 'micro-network'. It would be an attempt to create a product that would embrace the medium instead of just making an extension of the network to keep subscribers.

No official release date has been announced but you can read the rest of the story here.

Guess How Much The Harmonica Player From 'Timber' Has Made

One of the hottest songs in America right now is "Timber," the latest smash from producer Dr. Luke.

Luke is behind a majority of every major hit from the past five years, including nearly every chart-topper by the singer Kesha.

"Timber" features Kesha and Pit Bull singing and rapping over a melody ripped from an obscure but great song by the harmonica player from the '70s group War, called "San Francisco Bay."

But it's been compared by many to a modern-day but far superior "Cotton Eye Joe," the crossover country hit from  the '90s.

Here's the video for "Timber":

As you can tell, the song gets its country flavor — really its entire personality — from the live harmonica playing.

And the guy who played it only made $1,000 bucks on it, according to an interview with the Dallas Morning News' Michael Corcoran:

“When I heard the finished track, I was knocked out,” said Harrington. “Boy, did they turn me up loud.” Harrington received a flat fee of $1,000 for the session. He won’t get any royalties, but he’s hoping the exposure will get him more studio work.

You can read more about Harrington here. You should also check out his stellar rendition of "Ain't No Sunshine."

Last night Ashton Kutcher's investment vehicle, A-Grade, threw a bash with musician Nas.

Ben Horowitz, a top Silicon Valley investor and partner at Andreessen Horowitz, got on stage and danced alongside Kutcher while Nas rapped.

Here's a strange video of Kutcher likening his relationship with Nas to that of Mark Andreessen and Ben Horowitz who are business partners at Andreessen Horowitz:

Here's a clip of Kutcher and Horowitz trying to break it down.

Here's another clip of the two guys dancing during the party. Horowitz recently revealed why he loves rap music and hip hop so much in a blog post. It's heartwarming. Horowitz is also an investor in rap lyrics annotation site, Rap Genius.

One party-goer told us they literally had trouble walking this morning because there was so much dancing or in her words, "freaking," at the Kutcher party last night.

Tonight, all the coolest kids in Austin will be clamoring to attend the PayPal party where rapper Snoop Dogg is performing.

For Those Who Get Discouraged When They Hear The Word 'No'... Here's A Rejection Letter U2 Got From A Record Label In 1979

U2 Rejection Letter

It sucks to hear the word "no."

Even when you've gotten rejected thousands of times (as any successful person has), it's still discouraging.

When you hear the word "no" — when a proposal of yours gets rejected — it's easy to think that there might be something wrong with the proposal. Or worse, you.

So it's helpful to remember that everyone has heard the word "no."

Lots of investors passed on Facebook, Google, Twitter, et al, for example.

Lots of publishers sniffed at "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" (the U.K. title of the original book before one brave U.S. publisher finally bought it).

And at least one record company, it seems, rejected the early recordings of an unknown teenage Dublin band called "U2."

U2, needless to say, is one of the most successful bands in history. And the record label that said "no?" They're almost certainly toast.

So have a look at this U2 rejection letter that @uberfacts just tweeted around every time you get rejected. Use the feedback to improve your proposal or presentation, perhaps. But don't doubt yourself or stop moving forward just because you heard the word "no."
