Susan Boyle: 'I Have Asperger's'

susan boyle

Susan Boyle charmed the world when she appeared on "Britain's Got Talent" in 2009.

The 52-year-old has since gone on to sell 14 million albums and become the first British female artist to have a number one album in the U.K. and the U.S. simultaneously. Fox Searchlight is even in pre-production on a film about the singer's life.

But in the midst of her skyrocketing career, Boyle found out something one year ago that changed her life: she has Asperger's.

"Some articles have said I have brain damage," she acknowledged in an interview with The Guardian, before adding: "It's been something else."

After Boyle went to see a Scottish specialist, the doctor discovered her IQ was above average. The diagnosis? "I have Asperger's," Boyle calmly explained about the disorder that mainly affects people's social interaction and communication skills.

"I have always known that I have had an unfair label put upon me," Boyle continued. "Asperger's doesn't define me. It's a condition that I have to live with and work through, but I feel more relaxed about myself. People will have a greater understanding of who I am and why I do the things I do."

But after her beloved mother died right before she became famous, Boyle admits "I am not strong on my own. When I have the support of people around me, I am fine."

"I made a promise to my mum that I would do something with my life," continued Boyle. "Spiritually, she's with me all the time. She has had a word with someone upstairs, because I wouldn't have had this otherwise. There has been some sort of intervention in some way. I do feel that."

But connecting with other people has proved a bit more challenging for the singer.

"I never know if people are genuine," says Boyle. "I would say I have relationship difficulties, communicative difficulties, which lead to a lot of frustration. If people were a bit more patient, that would help."

But after her professional success and recent diagnosis, Boyle says "That made me more determined to be where I want to be."

LeAnn Rimes Shot Her New Music Video With An iPhone 5S

LeAnn Rimes

LeAnn Rimes decided to shoot her latest music video with an iPhone 5s, but swears it's not a publicity stunt.

The song, "Gasoline & Matches", which was co-produced by Darrell Brown and directed by Ian Padgham, needed to be shot with slow-motion technology, a feature found on the latest iPhone model.

Brown insists using a phone to shoot the video was purely practical, reports 9-to-5 Mac.

The Loop, who spoke to Brown, reports Brown had only glowing things to say about using an iPhone in lieu of expensive video gear:

“Using the iPhone camera for the stop motion video made it easy, affordable and portable for us—because of time factors,” said Darrell Brown, the Co-Producer of the record and video. “I had to get Ian to Dublin to film LeAnn while she was there. I had to get Ian to New York State to film Rob. It was so easy to lug around three iPhones instead of other heavy gear. iPhone to film, iPhone for playback of song and iPhone to document the fun.”

There Are 8 Movies Coming Out Christmas Day — Here's Which Ones You Should See

$
0
0

December is a BIG movie month.

For those heading out to theaters on Christmas, there are eight movies coming out. Of those, four are big wide releases.

Not sure what to see? We've broken down which films are worth watching for everyone.

1. Skip: "47 Ronin"

keanu reeves 47 roninWhat it's about: Reeves swings around a sword as a samurai as he leads an army of 47 warriors to avenge the death of their master.

The only reason to see it: Keanu Reeves.

It's the actor's return front and center in a big-budget film for the first time in 10 years.

Why you should pass:

We love Reeves, but after some thought, we're not convinced from the trailers this looks like a great film. Maybe it's the monstrous woman turning into a cheesy-looking CGI dragon, maybe it's the fact the film has a tumultuous production story — it's been pushed back since Nov. 2012 with a budget estimated at $225 million— either way, both leave us hesitant.

At the least, you should check out the graphic novel.

Worth noting: Since his time away on screen — his lastbig films were in 2003 — Reeves has become Internet famous gaining traction for viral meme Sad Keanu.

The once-Matrix actor really resonates with fans and no matter how bad this movie may be it may very well end up surprising at the box office despite all the competition.

2. Run out and see: "The Wolf of Wall Street"

the wolf of wall street leonardo dicaprio

What it's about: Leonardo DiCaprio is back as another wealthy socialite, this time as crooked stockbroker Jordan Belfort.

Why this is a must-see:

Other than the sex, drugs, and over-the-top wild parties on screen?

1. This "Anything for the Oscar" GIF of Leonardo DiCaprio

leonardo dicaprio wolf of wall street

This is DiCaprio and director Martin Scorsese's fifth time working together on a film. Despite DiCaprio's two Oscar nominations for Best Actor, he has yet to win an Academy Award.

2. Early reviews, including one from our Executive Producer Justin Maiman, are raving about the performances.

3. If that isn't enough, our own Linette Lopez got her hands on the script for the film last year and picked out the 15 scenes she can't wait to see.

3. Overrated: "Grudge Match"

grudge match robert de niro sylvester stalloneWhat it's about: Robert DeNiro and Sylvester Stallone are returning to the boxing ring to go a few rounds for the title of top boxer.

Why to watch: The addition of Kevin Hart for comic relief may be the only saving grace to an otherwise campy film that seems outdated and unnecessary.

Why to pass: Do you really want to watch "Rocky" vs. "Raging Bull"? We're not sure how many crowds of audiences have been saying they want to see such this "epic" fight onscreen.

How many other films with two older actors trying to recapture the spotlight have you seen do well this year? ("The Incredible Burt Wonderstone" with Jim Carrey and "Escape Plan" with Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger are a two examples that come to mind.)

This isn't something like "The Avengers" vs. "The Justice League" that may get fans all riled up.

4. Steer clear: "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty"

secret life of walter mitty

What it's about: Based on the James Thurber book, Ben Stiller stars as a shy guy constantly lost in a daydream who finally goes on a big life adventure.

Who should see it: Fans of the book. Kristen Wiig / Stiller fans.

Why you should pass:

Collective early reviews for the film agree Mitty's dead on arrival with the adaptation lost in its own fantasy.

If we're being serious, between "American Hustle," "The Wolf of Wall Street," and this pick, we'd go with either of the former choices.

The four other movies out Christmas Day:

5. "August: Osage County": How can you go wrong with Meryl Streep AND Julia Roberts?A group of women come together for a family crisis. Ewan McGregor also stars in the film produced in part by George Clooney. Worth a watch.

6."Labor Day": Kate Winslet plays a mom who unknowingly gives a ride to an escaped convict (Josh Brolin). See it.

7. "Justin Bieber's Believe": A follow-up documentary to the singer's 2011 "Never Say Never" movie that teenage girls and "Beliebers" may want to check out, but that will probably get lost among all the other big releases. Skip.

8. "Walking With Dinosaurs 3D": Stick with Disney's animated flick, "Frozen." of is supposed to deliver a look at what it was like when dinosaurs ruled the Earth. The title sounds like the film is geared toward one demographic, but upon viewing the trailer it feels like a kid's film (a la "The Land Before Time"). Having 3D in the title doesn't do the film any favors as audiences often assume that means you must see the movie in that format. Skip.

Other films you'll want to check out:

Maybe you don't want to see any of those movies.

There are a few other movies coming out RIGHT before the holidays you should consider:

Must-See: "American Hustle"

american hustleRelease date: December 20

After last year's Oscar winner, "Silver Linings Playbook," director David O. Russell is back with actors Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence. This time Amy Adams and Christian Bale join as two con artists trying to take down corrupt politicians.

Early reviews for the film are saying this could very well be O. Russell's next big Oscar win.

For the diehard film fan: "Her"

her joaquin phoenixInitial release date: December 18

Need something a little more quirky? Look no farther than Spike Jones' romantic dramedy about a man (Joaquin Phoenix) who falls in love with an operating system (voiced by Scarlet Johansson).

For the Peter Jackson fan: "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug"

the hobbit martin freemanRelease date: December 13

Weren't a fan of the first film? The second of the trilogy should be the movie where the majority of the high-action takes place.

Don't take our word for it, the majority of early reviews say the second installment is better than the first.

Fans of Benedict Cumberbatch ("Sherlock") will appreciate him voicing the menacing dragon Smaug. "Lord of the Rings" fans will welcome back the return of Orlando Bloom as Legolas.

And yes, it looks like it will be in that high 48 frames per second frame rate.

For the Disney fan: "Saving Mr. Banks"

tom hanks saving mr banksRelease date: December 13

Love "Mary Poppins" or Walt Disney? This film will tell you how the legend himself brought the film to the big screen. If you thought you were signing up for a film about Disney himself, look elsewhere. You may not get the full (true) story of the adaptation but you will get strong performances from Oscar winners Tom Hanks and Emma Thompson.

Must-watch comedy: "Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues"

will ferrell christina applegate anchorman 2Release date: December 18

The news team reassembles!

Even if the movie's bad — and with all of the marketing oversaturation lately it very well could be — it won't matter. Fans have been waiting for nearly a decade to see Ron Burgundy reunite with the Channel 4 News team. And great Odin's raven are there a number of cameos — Tina Fey, Jim Carrey, Harrison Ford, and more. If it's the last thing we do, we'll be seeing this sequel — for better or worse.

Christian Bale's 'Out Of The Furnace' Bombs—Here's Your Box-Office Roundup

$

0

out of the furnace christian bale

Christian Bale got scorched without his Batsuit.

His new film "Out of the Furnace," a revenge story starring Woody Harrelson and Willem Dafoe, made lower than estimates ranging from $7-$9 million.

Granted, the week following Thanksgiving is usually a slow one at the box office and ratings for the Relativity film weren't great (pretty sour?)

However, only the "Hunger Games" sequel and Disney's "Frozen" managed to earn more than $6 million.

Before the onslaught of December film releases, this weekend was pretty slow overall with Morgan Freeman's "Hangover"-esque "Last Vegas" out of the top 10 after six weeks and "Black Nativity" dropping out in week two.

Here are this week's winners and losers in Hollywood:

10. Matthew McConaughey's "Dallas Buyers Club" moved up two spots to make it into the top ten with $1.5 million. The Focus Features film also starring Jennifer Garner which has been out for six weeks has made $12 million to date.

9. Weinstein film "Philomena" starring Judi Dench drops one spot this week earning $2.8 million. The film, about a mother forced to give up her child, is making a majority of its $24 million overseas ($16 million).

8. After a month in theaters, "The Best Man Holiday" finally falls four notches with $2.67 million. The Universal sequel which cost an estimated $17 million to produce has brought in a big $67.6 million.

7. Fox's adaptation of "The Book Thief" starring Geoffrey Rush added another $2.7 million to its $12 million haul.

6. Jason Statham's movie "Homefront" dropped one place from last week with $3.4 million. The film, which cost an estimated $22 million to make has made $15.3 million worldwide.

5. Surprisingly, Disney's "Delivery Man" with Vince Vaughn actually moved up one spot since last week with $3.8 million. The film's premise about a sperm donor having upwards of 500 children is nothing short of absurd. Yet, it has managed to come back from a poor opening weekend ($7.9 million) to make $26 million worldwide — on par with the film's production budget.

4. "Thor: The Dark World" continues to ride the top of the box office with another $4.7 million. The Chris Hemsworth "Avengers" film passed a milestone last week crossing $600 million worldwide at the box office.

3. Christian Bale's "Out of the Furnace" disappointed with $5.3 million. The film, also starring Zoe Saldana, Forest Whitaker, Willem Dafoe, and Woody Harrelson cost an estimated $22 million. Bale's not as big of a draw when he's not in the Batsuit. Not that this film was expected to make tens of millions upon opening. To be honest, it was easy for this film to get lost among the myriad of films coming out in the coming weeks. Bale will be back with Oscar film "American Hustle" at the end of the month.

2. After two weeks ruling theaters, the girl on fire gets iced. "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" made $27 million in its third week. In that time, the Jennifer Lawrence-fueled franchise has made a huge $673 million worldwide. Worth noting that the film is performing as well overseas as it is at home — right down the middle in fact ($336 million). It took until the first film's fourth week to hit that point.

1. "Frozen" holds strong for a second week with $31.6 million. Overall, the film has made $190.2 million ($134 million domestic). That's way ahead of 2010's "Tangled" second weekend ($21.6 million / $96 million domestic), and slightly less than "Wreck-It Ralph" ($33 million). However, "Wreck-It Ralph" hadn't crossed $100 million domestic at this point.

sherlock

BBC has really outdone themselves. This is one of the coolest TV show trailers we've ever seen.

Ahead of the return of "Sherlock" on the network next month, BBC has released an interactive teaser for the show. While watching, a bunch of prompts pop up with the option for fans to view extra content about the series.

At the end of last season *spoiler* it appeared Sherlock (Benedict Cumberbatch) saw his demise; however, it was revealed at the episode's end, that he was indeed alive! How he survived a seemingly inescapable death has yet to be revealed. *spoiler*

Turns out Sherlock has been gone for two years.

If you were hoping for John Watson's (Martin Freeman) mustache to be sticking around for a long time, don't get too excited. It looks like Sherlock hates it.

"Sherlock" returns January 1, 2014 on BBC One and will premiere in the US January 19 on PBS.

Ben Affleck Slams 'Wrong And Disgusting' Paparazzi In New Playboy Interview

Ben Affleck camera

Ben Affleck is peeved at the paparazzi.

In a new Playboy interview, the 41-year-old father of three explains to the magazine what he calls “the crucible by flashbulb.”

“You can say what you want about me. You can yell at me with a video camera and be TMZ. You can follow me around and take pictures all you want. I don’t care. There are a couple of guys outside right now. Terrific. That’s part of the deal,” says Affleck.

But when it comes to his family and young children, the future Batman is fiercely protective.

“It’s wrong and disgusting to follow children around and take their picture and sell it for money,” he says. “It makes the kids less safe. They used to take pictures of our children coming out of preschool, and so this stalker who had threatened to kill me, my wife and our kids showed up at the school and got arrested. I mean, there are real practical dangers to this.”

Affleck continues, “My kids aren’t celebrities. They never made that bargain. We were offered a lot of money to sell pictures of our kids when they were born. You’ll notice there aren’t any. I make no judgment about people who decide differently; a lot of them give the money to charity. For me it was a matter of principle. I didn’t want someone to be able to come back and say I was complicit, that it wasn’t a question of principle as much as price.”

And he didn't stop there.

“The tragic thing is, people who see those pictures naturally think it’s sweet," Affleck explains. "They don’t see the gigantic former gang member with a huge lens standing over a four-year-old and screaming to get the kid’s attention.”

“The kids are always looking down because they’re freaked out and scared of these people. And so they yell. Which is fine if you’re Lindsay Lohan coming out of a club, or me or any adult,” adds Affleck. “With kids it’s tasteless at best.”

The issue is clearly something Affleck's family feels strongly about.

In August, his wife, actress Jennifer Garner, testified in defense of stricter laws preventing paparazzi from terrorizing celebrity kids.

"Family Guy" debuted a new theme song on last night's episode without the iconic character. Instead, new family dog, Vinny, takes his place.

Brian was controversially killed off in the November 24 episode of the show and quickly replaced by a new dog played by "The Sopranos" actor Tony Sirico.

Though Brian the dog may return to "Family Guy" for a few episodes, it looks like he's officially gone.

Vince Gilligan's Description Of What Success Feels Like Is The Most Honest And Humble You'll Ever Read

$
0
0

vince gilligan breaking badAppointment TV-viewing is supposed to be over, having given way to an era of 300 cables channels and an infinite selection of video content available on-demand.

And yet, last fall, 10.3 million people tuned in to AMC for the final episode of "Breaking Bad" – a show filmed on the tiny budget of $3.5 million per episode.

(Breaking Bad's budget was so tiny that one season, the producers ran out of money and had to film one episode all in one location. The episode, which is about the show's main character chasing a fly around his lab, is now a cult favorite.)

The person most responsible for this overwhelming success is a guy named Vince Gilligan, the show's producer and primary story-teller.

Until Breaking Bad, Gilligan was working his way through a nice, but unremarkable TV and movie writing and producing career. He was best known for writing some episodes of The X-Files.

For his success, Gilligan was named one of GQ's 2013 men of the year.

In an interview with the magazine, Gilligan gives the best and most honest description of what being a phenomenal success feels like.

This description comes in answer to the question: "I think everybody knew the ending would be a big deal, but it really turned into as big and feverish a phenomenon as I can remember. What happened?"

Gilligan:

Have you ever been sitting at your desk and you crumple up a piece of paper and, without even looking, you just toss it over your shoulder and it goes straight into the wastebasket? You didn’t think about it. You didn’t stress about it. You just did it. And now that you’re thinking about it, you could never do it again in a million years, no matter how hard you tried. That’s what this was like. We worked our butts off, but everybody works their butts off in TV. We tried to make the best show it was humanly possible to make, but you know, the guys on According to Jim did the same thing. As to why this thing hit…I could make up some stream of nonsense, but honestly…I wish I could explain it, because then I might have a fighting chance on TV in the future. The truth is, I just have to be satisfied that it happened at all.

We spotted this quote on the blog of Google Ventures partner M.G. Siegler.

Siegler, who spent years trying to make it as a Hollywood script writer, writes a lot about movies and TV on his blog.

His reaction to Gilligan's quote: "Humble."

Kanye West is in the midst of a worldwide Yeezus concert tour and every night he takes the stage to perform, the rapper says he is endangering his life just like a a policeman or soldier in war.

In a new radio interview with SaturdayNightOnline, the rapper says “I’m just giving of my body on stage ... I’m putting my life at risk. This is like being a police officer or war or something."

After saying his life is like "The Hunger Games" right now, West says of his concert, "I feel like it's not just a performance."

West explains of his potentially dangerous stage design: "That mountain goes really, really high and if I slipped and something happened, I think about my family and I'm like 'This is like being a police officer or war or something.' You're literally going out to do your job everyday knowing that something could happen to you — verbally from the press bashing you, people not liking you anymore, or you could actually slip on that stage."

Right, because that's exactly what cops and soldiers are worried about.

Kanye West Slams Fake Interview That Quoted Him As Saying 'I Am The Next Nelson Mandela'

$

Kanye West may not be afraid to share his high opinion of himself, but the rapper wants you to know he did not say that "I am the next Nelson Mandela" quote currently circulating after being pulled from a fake interview.

On Friday, satirical newspaper "The Daily Currant" ran a fake interview with Kanye West in which he said ridiculous statements such as: “Mandela was working in South Africa, which has, like what, six people? I started my magic here in the USA and then I took my business global" and “I liberate minds with my music. That’s more important than liberating a few people from apartheid or whatever.”

Many people believed the interview was real and some even called to put Kanye in prison "to make sure" he's the next Mandela.

After Twitter went nuts with people in outrage over the statements, West just cleared up the matter via his Twitter account:

Kanye West tweets nelson mandela

But for those keeping track, West did, in fact, say he is the next Steve Jobs, Walt Disney and God.

The Most Violent Fall TV Shows

$

governor the walking dead

The Parents Television Council released a study on violence in media Monday morning.

Among its findings were that some broadcast TV shows with a lot of violence have more lenient ratings than cable shows that exhibit similar content.

What we found most interesting was the breakdown of the most violent shows on television.

Granted, they only looked at fall TV shows — otherwise, "Hannibal" and "The Following" definitely would have topped this list — however, the results are still interesting since it looks like shows on broadcast TV are more violent than those on cable.

Left off this list are also premium shows like HBO's "Game of Thrones" and "True Blood" (again, not fall series anyway).

According to the PTC, here were the seven most violent shows on cable this fall:

"American Horror Story" (FX)
"The Walking Dead" (AMC)
"Sons of Anarchy" (FX)
"Breaking Bad" (AMC)
"Copper" (BBC America)
"Justified" (FX)
"Bullet in the Face" (IFC)

See a trend in the networks?

And here are the seven most violent dramas on broadcast TV:

"Revolution" (NBC)
"The Blacklist" (NBC)
"Supernatural" (CW)
"Criminal Minds" (CBS)
"Sleepy Hollow" (FOX)
"CSI" (CBS)
"Law & Order: SVU" (NBC)

Note that of the big networks, no ABC show made the list. We were told that no shows from the network were found to be among the most violent on TV.

The study came up with its results by looking at the first four episodes of the fall 2012 and 2013 seasons of each show and recording every moment of "violence" and "graphic violence."

Violence was defined as "the intent to harm; destruction of property; accidental violence; or self-harm" while graphic violence was described as "vivid, brutal and realistic acts of violence."

It was found that "Revolution" "aired more violence than 6 of the 7 most violent shows on cable and more graphic violence than 4 of the 7 most violent shows on cable."

Here are the total acts of violence recorded on each show along with its TV rating*:most violent tv shows fall

*The PTC pointed out that "The Walking Dead" has since switched to a TV-MA rating.

Here's another way to look at that data:

tv shows most violent fall 2013.PNG

And here are the weapons used most often. Poison is not a weapon of choice.weapons on most violent shows.PNGIn case you're wondering, here are some of the most violent scenes recorded from each show:

"Revolution"

A sword is used to slit a man's throat after he tries to gouge a person's eyes out. (episode: 9/25/13)

"Criminal Minds"

A person is bludgeoned to death with a hammer. (10/16/13)

"The Blacklist"

A man getting stabbed in the thigh and stomach with a knife. (9/23/13)

"The Walking Dead"

Use of machetes to chop off zombie heads (episode from 10/14/12)
Someone's leg being brutally amputated by an axe (airdate: 10/14/12)

"American Horror Story"

A woman being murdered after getting stabbed with scissors in the neck. (10/31/12)

"Sons of Anarchy"

A woman being burnt alive. (9/11/12)

Leonardo DiCaprio is getting into the electric car racing game.

He and Venturi Automobiles have co-founded a team that will compete in all-electric Formula E Championship, Venturi announced today.

As its name suggests, Formula E is an electricity-powered spinoff of Formula One racing. Both are run by the Fédération International de l'Automobile (FIA).

Venturi is a French-founded automaker, based in Monaco, that has focused on building electric vehicles since it was purchased by millionaire Gildo Pastor in 2001.

The first Formula E season is scheduled for 2014-15, with races scheduled in Beijing, Los Angeles, and London.

There will be ten teams with two drivers each. Venturi Grand Prix, based in Monaco, should be the tenth.

This isn't the first time DiCaprio has dipped his toe into the auto industry. He was an equity investor in Fisker Automotive and the first customer to receive the plug-in hybrid electric Karma.

Fisker never took off, and finally filed for bankruptcy in November.

Kevin Bacon Is Back In Another Commercial, And It's Cornier Than Ever

Kevin Bacon is a goofball.

The actor has poked fun at his career in several offbeat commercials, including one for Logitech and Google TV where he played an average Joe creepily obsessed with none other than Kevin Bacon. In one from September, Bacon outdid celebrity chef Jamie Oliver on Oliver's online cooking show for mobile provider EE— and yes, there were plenty of bacon puns and allusions to the game that says everyone is six degrees removed from him.

This holiday season, Bacon is back as "Melvin Macon" in an ad for the small business collective Shift Your Shopping, which encourages shoppers to frequent local stores over big chains. Bacon's foundation Six Degrees is one of its main sponsors.

Check out the weird, local commercial-inspired video here:

Did you notice that he was also one of the choir singers?

New York agency Walrus produced the video pro bono. Its style is very reminiscent of comedy duo Tim and Eric's brand of satire.

They also made these nifty "Kevin Bacon Approved" gift tags you can print and cut out:

Mind-Blowing Numbers Aren't The Only Thing 'Shark Tank' Investors Care About

Al 'Bubba' Baker on Shark Tank

How did a former NFL player-turned-entrepreneur with disappointing sales get an investment from the Sharks in the latest episode of ABC's reality pitch show "Shark Tank?"

It's not because Al "Bubba" Baker is a former professional athlete. Instead, it's because he knows how to talk about his challenges.

Baker's business, Baby Back Rib Steak, offers de-boned ribs that are ready to eat after two minutes of heating in the microwave. But here's the problematic detail: Baby Back Rib Steak only generated $154,000 in sales over the last year — even though Baker's been working on the idea for the last 20 years. When investor Barbara Corcoran asked him what happened in those undocumented 19 years, Baker admitted to quitting on his business before his daughter convinced him to give it another try.

Baker's personalized story stood out compared to the other hopefuls on the show, who didn't admit to any challenges or major competitors.

When the Sharks asked co-owners Alexander Mendeluk and Marley Merota, whose faux fur headgear business Spirithood generated $9.3 million in sales in the past three years, about their competitors, they couldn't pinpoint any. And when investor Mark Cuban asked entrepreneur Jan Goetelvk how he was going to compete for consumer dollars with Virtuix Omni, a treadmill-like virtual reality gaming system that had 3,000 pre-orders before it rolled out its first productGoetelvk also couldn't answer.

These examples prove that even when your numbers are impressive, entrepreneurs still need to be able to predict future challenges and size up competitors.

While Baker's numbers were not as impressive, he was able to show product and process patents for de-boning baby back ribs and was honest about what he was up against. It ultimately secured him a $300,000 investment from Daymond John for a 30% equity stake, contingent on securing a licensing deal.

Former child actor Macaulay Culkin is trying his hand at the music industry.

The 33-year-old "Home Alone" star is currently part of a Velvet Underground cover band called The Pizza Underground, and as their name indicates, they're really into pizza.

In fact, every one of their songs is about pizza in some way or another.

Take for example songs, "Cheese Days," "Papa John Says," and "I'm Waiting for Delivery Man," in which they sing the below:

"I'm waiting for delivery man, $46 in my hand. Comes from Dominos, one, two, three. More than 30 minutes and that pizza is free. I'm waiting for delivery man."

The band, which formed earlier last year, have played a few shows around Brooklyn and at a tribute show for the late Velvet Underground rocker, Lou Reed.

Check out their Andy Warhol-esque pop art on their website, and have a listen to their demo, below:

Art Basel Miami is an international contemporary art fair held each year in Miami Beach.

But since it began in 2002 as an offshoot of the annual art fair in Basel, Switzerland, Art Basel Miami Beach has become as much about the parties as the art.

This year's fair brought out the likes of Kim Kardashian, Kanye West, Paris Hilton, Lenny Kravitz, Steven Tyler, Elle Macpherson, and many more.

While some actually looked at art, most were just there to party — and we have the pictures to prove it.

Zoe Kravitz let her dad, Lenny Kravitz, and Steven Tyler into the DJ booth at the Dom Perignon party hosted by Alex Dellal, Stavros Niarchos, and Vito Schnabel at Wall club in the W Hotel.

Actor Stephen Dorff made an appearance with Derek Blasberg.

Before the club, Alex Rodriguez joined an intimate dinner hosted by Aby Rosen and Samantha Rosen at The Dutch in the W Hotel in South Beach.
