Warner Bros. announced its big Batman / Superman movie coming out in 2015.

For fans who couldn't be at Comic-Con, here's a video capturing the intensity of the crowd during the big reveal.

"Man of Steel" actor Harry Lennix took the stage to read a classic line from "The Dark Knight Returns" comic by Frank Miller from Batman addressed to Clark Kent.

There were some cheers from diehard fans who knew the line. When the Superman logo appeared on screen, many people began yelling out. However, it wasn't until the unveiling of the Bat symbol that the entire room went absolutely haywire.

If you're not already excited for the film, then the video will get you pumped.

Check out the video:

Panel host Chris Hardwick summed up the atmosphere:

An even bigger movie may be coming to the big screen Flash and the Justice League are rumored to come to theaters 2016 and 2017

The timing is getting close at hand.

Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, has gone into labor, reports the palace.

From the BBC:

She travelled by car from the palace to St Mary's in Paddington, west London, with her husband the Duke of Cambridge.

The couple do not know the sex of their first child, who will be third in line to the throne.

...

Royal vehicles were seen at a back entrance to the hospital at about 06:00 BST, with the announcement coming from Kensington Palace an hour-and-a-half later.

We'll be standing by with more details as they're known.

'Things Progressing As Normal' After Kate Middleton Checks Into Hospital To Give Birth

Kate Middleton

Around 5:30am this morning, the internet went into a tizzy as it was announced that Kate Middleton had finally gone into labor.

According to an official statement from the palace:

"Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge has been admitted this morning to St. Mary's Hospital, Paddington, London in the early stages of labor. The Duchess traveled by car from Kensington Palace to the Lindo Wing at St. Mary's Hospital with The Duke of Cambridge."

"Things are progressing as normal," a spokesperson added.

As planned, Middleton checked into the Lindo Wing of the hospital, with Prince William -- who is on paternity leave from his post with the Royal Air Force Search and Rescue Force --by her side.

"Both of them were accompanied by a bodyguard who has been on Kate's security detail for the past few months," according to E! Online. "Dr. Marcus Setchell, former OBGYN to Queen Elizabeth II, will serve as head doctor in the delivery room on this oh-so-important day for the royal family. Dr. Alan Farthing, the queen's current surgeon/gynecologist, will also be on hand."

And not only is it the same hospital where Princess Diana gave birth to Prince William 31 years ago, The Times' royal baby expert, David Brown, reports that the couple even used the same hospital entrance.

The couple still do not kow the sex of the baby, but once the little royal is born, a notice will be posted on a wooden easel outside of Buckingham Palace, followed moments later by an electronic message to the media and the world.

In the meantime, we wait.

The entire world is watching, or at least grumbling about watching.

Very little is known about the baby, including its gender.

But that hasn't stopped the folks at Irish betting site Paddy Power from putting odds on baby names.

The top candidates: Alexandra, George, and Victoria.

Here are the full odds.

Paparazzi have been camped outside St. Mary's hospital for weeks in anticipation of the royal baby, and it's finally go time.

After Kate Middleton checked into the Lindo Wing early this morning, the scene outside of the hospital is a zoo, naturally.

Photographers are lined up and ready to get the first shots.

Broadcast media from all over the world are giving live reports from across the street of the exclusive Lindo Wing.

But of course the royal couple didn't enter through the media mob when checking in early this morning. Instead, it is speculated they arrived through St. Mary hospital's more private Cambridge entrance.

Has The Royal Baby Already Saved The British Pound?

0

The Royal Baby hasn't even been born yet (Kate Middleton is in labor) but it already seems to be accomplishing great things.

Within minutes after the announcement that Kate had gone into labor (at around 2:30 AM ET this morning) the British pound began to rally, and is now up strongly (0.4% against the U.S. dollar) on the day.

Royal Baby mania is expected to boost the UK economy, so it's plausible that the connection between the rise of the pound and the baby news is something more than total coincidence.

Prince William And Kate Middleton's Baby Could Have One Of These Names

0

Kate Middleton kids

Kate Middleton just went into labor, but bookies have been betting for months on the heir to the throne's name.

"Bookies William Hill say their punters are expecting Kate’s first child to be female," reports The Week. "As for names, Alexandra and Elizabeth are the favourites for a girl while George and James are favourites for a boy."

CNN royal contributor Victoria Arbiter says royals choose "dynastic names; names with a sense of history" that will provide the "elements of continuity that the survival of the monarchy depends on."

Arbiter predicts "Alexandra Elizabeth Frances Mary for a girl and George Philip Arthur Charles for a boy."

Kate Middleton Queen JubileeArbiter explains that Alexandra is the Queen's middle name, while Elizabeth would honor the baby's great grandmother and great, great grandmother — but it is also Middleton's middle name.

Frances is "Diana's middle name and also Michael Middleton's middle name,” Arbiter notes.

But why not honor Prince William's late mother Diana by naming the baby after her?

"I really don't think they'll use Diana for a first child," Arbiter tells MSN, noting that Middleton already faces so many comparisons with Diana.

Additionally, she says, "William and Harry are very keen to honor their mother privately" and might avoid the name "out of respect to the Queen, Prince Charles and Camilla.”

Other possible names for a baby girl include Alice in tribute to Prince Philip's mother, Princess Alice of Battenberg, Eleanor for "Eleanor of Aquitaine," and Pippa Middleton's middle name, Charlotte.

As for a boy, MSN notes "George is a popular guess for a first name and also a popular name choice for monarchs: There have been six previous King Georges. Philip would be in honor of Price Philip."

Arbiter says Arthur is a "middle name shared by a number of royal men that recalls the legend of King Arthur."

Sounds solid.

Check out the baby name odds, according to Irish bookmaker paddypower.com:

Paddy Power Kate Middleton bbaby name odds

As for a last name, it's a bit tricky.

"When utilizing a surname like ordinary folks, William and his brother, Prince Harry, take a cue from father Charles, Prince of Wales' royal house and go by William Wales and Harry Wales," according to E! Online.

But, as the site notes, the baby isn't required to have a surname — but if the parents want their child to have one, they have three choices.

Kate Middle Prince William Harry Diamond JubileeAccording to BBC News, the royal baby's last name could be Wales, like dad; Cambridge, the title given to the couple when they married; or Mountbatten-Windsor, the surname of Prince Philip, who got Mountbatten from his maternal grandparents, and the queen, whose father, King George V, selected Windsor for his family in 1917.

While Middleton isn't due to give birth for another week, there's already protocol in place for how the royal couple will announce their first born to the eagerly-awaiting public.

The public will be informed that Kate Middleton is in labor "when she's in her [hospital] room and comfortable,” Arbiter told MSN.

After the baby is born, a birth announcement will be placed on an easel outside of Buckingham Palace.

"That will be the first we know of the sex of the baby and the time of birth,” Arbiter explained, but the announcement will likely not include the baby's name.

But don't hold your breath for a name announcement, because as Arbiter notes, it took William and Kate "three weeks to announce their dog's name.”

In case you're wondering, it's Lupo.

Ryan Reynolds Has Two Huge Movie Flops — Here's Your Box-Office Roundup

0
0

r.i.p.d. ripd ryan reynolds

It wasn't a good weekend to be Ryan Reynolds.

Both of his new movies, "Men in Black" look alike, "R.I.P.D." and animated snail flick "Turbo" bombed opening weekend.

Universal won't feel a big sting from "R.I.P.D." "Fast & Furious 6" and "Despicable Me 2" have been massively huge hits for them this year.

We can't say the same for DreamWorks Animation with "Turbo." The film debuted lower than last year's "Rise of the Guardians" bomb.

That's not good news for DreamWorks Animation, who shortly after laid off 350 employees. That flop lost DWA $87 million. In a recent 10K SEC filing, DreamWorks Animation admitted that the failure of any singular film could be a disaster.

Company stock fell Wednesday when predictions for the film were poor.

Instead, it was Warner Bros. low-budget horror flick "The Conjuring" that soared at theaters, earning more money than last week's "Pacific Rim" opening weekend.

That follows the latest trend of small horror flicks doing impressively well upon debut.

At the indie film circuit Michael B. Jordan's "Fruitvale Station" may be playing in only 34 theaters, but it earned a big $742,000 over the weekend. It's wide release comes this weekend. That's more than the debut of Kristen Wiig's flick "Girl Most Likely" that appeared in 353 theaters.

Out of the top ten this weekend included Kevin Hart's successful comedy "Let Me Explain" which has earned $30 million.

"The Lone Ranger" bomb dropped a huge six spots at theaters. The Disney Western has earned $147.8 million at theaters. Channing Tatum's "White House Down" was also knocked out of the top ten after a month. The film, which cost Sony $150 million, has earned $92.4 million worldwide.

Here are this week's winners and losers in Hollywood:

10. "Monsters University" holds onto a top ten spot adding another $5 million to its $533 million haul at the box office.

9. Brad Pitt's "World War Z" edges out the monsters with $5.2 million. Paramount's zombie flick has now earned more than $456 million worldwide at theaters.

8. After a month, Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy's "The Heat" is still packing a punch with $9.3 million. The comedy has earned $145 million worldwide.

7. Ryan Reynold's big-budget "R.I.P.D." bombed with $12.7 million. The Universal film cost an estimated $130 million to make. Thankfully, the studio has the success of "Fast & Furious 6" and "Despicable Me 2" to fall back on.

6. Guillermo del Toro's monster movie "Pacific Rim" drops three spots with $16 million. Despite its underwhelming opening in the states ($37.8 million), the film is catching on overseas earning $110 million.

5. Bruce Willis' "Red 2" sequel earned a slightly disappointing $18.5 million opening weekend. That's a bit short of the $21.8 million opening of the 2010 original.

4. Adam Sandler's "Grown Ups 2" manages to earn $20 million in week two. The sequel to the 2010 film is performing slightly better than the original at theaters.

3. "Turbo" came in third with a sluggish $21.5 million. The animated snail flick opened lower than DreamWorks' Animation's last bomb "Rise of the Guardians." Since its Wednesday opening (a smart move), the film has earned $31.2 million. The film cost an estimated $135 million to make.

2. "Despicable Me 2" is still leading the pack with $25 million. The little yellow minions are closing in on $600 million worldwide for Universal. Overseas, the film came in first with an added $35.4 million.

1. "The Conjuring" becomes the latest in a trend of low-budget horror films to perform exceedingly well opening weekend with a big $41.5 million. The Warner Bros. film cost an estimated $20 million to make.

This Photo From Prince William's Birth Shows How Out Of Control Paparazzi Have Become

Throngs of paparazzi  have been camped outside of St. Mary's Hospital for weeks in anticipation of the royal baby.

The same hospital where Prince William was born 31 years ago.

Foreign editor at ABC News, Jon Williams, posted a photo of the paparazzi scene outside of St. Mary's on June 21, 1982 — the day that Prince William, heir to the throne, was born.

There are plenty of photogs, but nothing compared to the media frenzy currently outside of the hospital's Lindo Wing.

Here's the vintage pic enlarged. Note that the media is contained in one small area:

Today, Williams notes there are nearly four times as many photogs lined up:

Beyoncé Fan Goes Absolutely Nuts As She Sings To Him During Concert

'Community' Creator Dan Harmon Danced In An Amazing Homemade 'Iron Man' Suit At Comic-Con

File this under awesome, but totally random.

"Community" creator Dan Harmon arrived at the show's Comic-Con panel dancing in a homemade "Iron Man" suit.

Harmon of course was famously fired from his popular cult show last year and then rehired after the show was confirmed for season 5. (A lot of heated words from Harmon and a campaign from cast members and fans to get him back ensued in between.)

Harmon has openly expressed his disdain for season 4. As a result, during the panel he announced that the 13 episodes of season 5 will be the most important to the show, adding he really wants another season (and a movie).

"I don't believe they're the last 13, I really want that sixth season," said Harmon. "But, I do think these 13 are the most important of the show's history."

Here's Harmon's show-stopping panel entrance.

It turns out that "How I Met Your Mother" protagonist Ted's kids are just as annoyed as we are that it has taken him eight years to tell them one simple story.

CBS revealed a hilarious first trailer comedy's final season at Comic-Con.

As the two-minute spot unfold, we learn that the typically quiet, head-nodding children who open most episodes have gone through puberty on that same couch. And they're not happy about it.

Watch the ad — ranging from hilarious to borderline disturbing — for the September 23 premiere below:

This 'Sharknado' Headpiece Was The Talk Of Comic-Con

One of the best costumes at Comic-Con was this elaborate "Sharknado" headpiece.

Inspired by the SyFy original movie, a convention-goer wore a larger-than-life hat swathed in gray and white fabric and plastic toy sharks.

The cosplayer, like Syfy's movie, blew up on Twitter. People were snapping pictures of her like she was a celebrity.

Her T-shirt, which she appeared to wear all four days of the convention, read "Enough Said!"

Kanye West Releases Official 'Black Skinhead' Music Video And It's Just Like The Leaked Version He Got Mad About

kanye west black skinhead

The final version of Kanye West's music video for "Black Skinhead" is out, and really similar to the leaked version that prompted an angry Twitter rant from West earlier this month.

The Sims-style graphics are still weird, and a computer-generated West gets more air time in his birthday suit.

Watch the video exclusively on West's website.

An impressive improvement was the addition of interactivity.

Viewers can adjust the motion speed — slowing sound and audio simultaneously — and take screenshots by clicking an Instagram icon with a hand cursor giving the middle finger.

Following its release, West begged the Internet to engage with the video on his site, and not just share static links on Twitter.

This press release describing the "compelling imagery," which West tweeted on Monday, displays on screen before the video plays:

Its functionality varies across different web browsers. We found Safari works best.

The video, a collaborative project with photographer and director Nick Knight, took a reported five months to create, but the final product bears a striking resemblance to the version leaked earlier this month — in spite of West's Twitter freak-out:

Here are some screenshots of the final video:

The sporadic cameos by Mega-Glitchy CGI Kanye were, it turns out, part of the plan the whole time.
