Local News Reporter Drops Double F-Bomb After Editing Error

0

Lindsay Nadrich, a reporter for the FOX affiliate in Spokane, was trying to tape an innocent segment about strawberry picking when she flubbed a few of her lines.

Frustrated, the field reporter jokingly said to the camera person, "F--- me, I can't even f------ talk!"

The segment luckily wasn't live, but whoever edited the piece left the F-bombs in the clip that aired.

And the in-studio anchor's reaction is priceless. Watch below:

But not to worry, Nadrich is still employed and even has the support of one fellow broadcaster:

Ellen Page Calls Out Video Game For Ripping Off Her Likeness

0

Ellen Page is not happy with Sony's latest video game "The Last Of Us."

The apocalyptic game made by Naughtydog was released by Sony earlier this week. Since the release of the first trailer back in 2011, many fans thought one of the main characters, Ellie, bore a striking resemblance to the actress.

Here's a look at the character in question now:

ellie

ellie the last of usIt appears Page thinks so, too.

The actress hosted a Reddit Ask Me Anything (AMA) over the weekend and when asked about the comparison by a fan, she didn't seem pleased.

"I guess I should be flattered that they ripped off my likeness," said Page. "But I am actually acting in a video game called Beyond Two Souls, so it was not appreciated."

The game Page is voicing is also for Sony. With the famous actress on board, "Beyond: Two Souls" deliberately made its title character look like Page.

Developer Naughtydog did change the look of the character making her younger and to reflect Ashley Johnson, the actress playing Ellie.

Here's the before and after:

ellen page last of us

Creative director, Neil Druckman explained the change to IGN:

"After delving further into the game’s narrative over the past few months, we decided to modify Ellie’s model to better reflect [actress] Ashley [Johnson]’s personality, and also resemble a slightly younger teen more fitting to the story. We're happy with the final result shown in the cinematic we have released today, and hope the fans like her too."

ashley johnsonIGN speculates the change may have come about because the games looked too similar.

"The Last of Us" follows a single father and a teenage girl trying to survive in a horror-action game. "Beyond: Two Souls" is a psychological thriller following what happens to us after death.

The first footage for "The Last of Us" was revealed back at the 2011 Video Game Awards. "Beyond: Two Souls" was later announced at Sony's 2012 E3 conference.

Naughtydog is Sony's powerhouse developer releasing hit after hit from "Crash Bandicoot" to the "Uncharted" series.

Angelina Jolie

Angelina Jolie appeared before the U.N. Security Council on Monday, urging that they take a stronger stand on rape in war zones.

The actress, who serves as a goodwill ambassador for the U.N. high commissioner for refugees, explained: ”Hundreds of thousands — if not millions — of women, children and men have been raped in conflicts in our lifetimes.”

“You set the bar,” she said to the group. “If the… council sets rape and sexual violence in conflict as a priority it will become one and progress will be made. If you do not, this horror will continue.”

Jolie urged the diplomatic leaders, “Meet your commitments, debate this issue in your parliaments, mobilize people in your countries, and build it into all your foreign policy efforts. Together, you can turn the tide of global opinion, shatter impunity and finally put an end to this abhorrence.”

Shortly after Jolie spoke,  a legally-binding resolution on the topic was passed.

As Fashion Media Startup StyleCaster Turns 5, It Finds Growth From A New, Unexpected Revenue Source

ari david goldberg stylecaster founders

Five years ago, two brothers Ari and David Goldberg founded a fashion media startup with a few friends. Today that company, StyleCaster, has grown to 7 million unique monthly visitors, up from 2.5 million last May and its revenue has doubled over the past twelve months.

Thirty percent of that revenue is coming from a source StyleCaster didn't have last year. But like many of today's digital media companies, which face low CPMs brought on by advertisers' affinity for programmatic buying, it had to reinvent its business model if it wanted to survive.

Last summer, StyleCaster's founders and management team gathered to discuss the company's future and explore its competitive advantage. They determined that the fashion media landscape was full of older private companies that act like public companies, such as Hearst and Conde Nast, and scrappier digital media companies such as Glam and Refinery29.

While StyleCaster was good at creating branded content for advertisers, the executives decided that wasn't enough to make the company flourish anymore. Advertisers were after engagement, not pageviews, so Stylecaster decided to buy a company that would help it meet the demand.

In September, StyleCaster purchased a ten-year-old company, Makeover Solutions, which was generating millions of dollars in revenue and was profitable. Acquiring Makeover Solutions has given StyleCaster the ability improve its offerings to advertisers and create an entirely new SaaS revenue stream.

Makeover Solutions is a tool that publishers or brands can implement on their websites with a snippet of code. There's a small set up fee and then the companies pay to host the customized experiences. Users can interact with the widgets by uploading photos of themselves and "trying on" beauty products via interactive images. Ari Goldberg, StyleCaster's CEO, says the widgets increase traffic for publishers 847% and users are 60% more likely to click-through and purchase products. Users also up their time spent on the publishers' sites by an average of 12 minutes.

StyleCaster is also able to brand Makeover Solutions' widgets and put them on StyleCaster.com when its direct sales team gets Requests for Proposals (RFPs).

Ultimately, StyleCaster doesn't want to be known as a media company. Instead, it wants to be the go-to source of data for beauty brands. It collects all types of information about users – from their eye color to skin tone to age – as well as which websites yield the best engagement via the Makeover Solutions widgets.

"What Dave and I have done is position us to be a data business," says Goldberg. "We're going to be building a ComScore for beauty. If I'm a brand or retailer looking to reach beauty consumers, we're going to have the most thorough, robust beauty data out there. We have real-world actionable digestible data, and we want to be able to provide that to brands and retailers and advertisers."

Here's an example of a Makeover Solutions widget on COVERGIRL's site, powered by StyleCaster:

Rihanna Slams Reporter As 'Sloppy Menopausal Mess' After Scathing Article

rihanna miami heat fan

Rihanna was not pleased when Daily Mail reporter Elizabeth Jones wrote a recent story titled “Pop’s poisonous princess: Glorying in drugs, guns and sleaze, Rihanna’s toxic role model for her army of young fans.”

The opinion piece went on to slam the 25-year-old singer for “going back to her abusive boyfriend, Chris Brown,” posting photos of herself holding two huge joints, and wearing super skimpy clothing.

Jones continued to scold Rihanna for “[promoting] drug-taking, drinking and the sort of fashion sense on stage that surely invites rape at worst, disrespect at least,” and “infecting our High Streets with her gun tattoos, her false nails and fake hair.”

Harsh words, and Rihanna didn't take them lightly.

The singer retaliated by posting the worst possible photo of the journalist she could find and slamming her as "a sad sloppy menopausal mess!!!”

Rihanna defended herself by saying “‘Role Model’ is not a position or title that I have ever campaigned for, so chill wit dat! I got my own f----- up s--- to work on, I’ll never portray that as perfect, but for right now it’s ME!!”

The singer also made fun of the reporter's writing, saying of the headline, "Toxic was cute, Poisonous Pop Princess had a nice ring to it, just a lil wordy!”

Jones' article has 1,488 shares and nearly 600 comments.

Rihanna's Instagram post has over 160,000 "likes." Read her entire rant below:

Kim Kardashian Sent Out Fake Baby Photos To See Which Friends Would Sell Them

0

Kim Kardashian North West TMZ

Looks like Kim Kardashian just lost a close friend.

The new mom recently conducted a little experiment by sending a few fake baby photos to different friends she feared would sell the pics to the tabloids.

Sure enough, one pal in question brought a photo to TMZ. And then another so-called friend tried to sell a different picture.

TMZ says "Our K & K sources have seen the pic and claim it's not the real deal."

Here's a possible alternative to this story — The photo is actually North West but Kardashian can't admit it because she would lose a lucrative deal with a weekly celebrity magazine (that she probably already has set up) to debut her newborn bundle of joy.

Either way, Kardashian is a master press manipulator and we hope this storyline makes it onto the show so we get to find out who the culprit is.

Here's The Man Rumored To Play Lex Luthor In A 'Man Of Steel' Sequel

0

superman lex luther

As Man of Steel punches the worldwide box office through the sky as if it were a cocky Kryptonian, chances are we are getting a Man of Steel 2 sooner rather than later.

It makes sense then that casting rumors are dropping in fast, and boy, this first one gets even a comic book ignorant like me pretty excited.

According to Cosmic Book NewsMark Strong (Tinker Taylor Soldier Spy) “is wanted” to play Lex Luthor in the Man of Steel sequel.

How probable is this rumor? Well, the site’s DC Entertainment source seems pretty reliable as it provided information about the bus crash scene in Man of Steel early on. As you’ll likely know by now that scene was indeed featured in the movie.

And this casting makes sense too. As far as bald actors (or character actors for that matter) go, Mark Strong is one of the most charismatic, intense and generally awesome (add other adjectives of your liking… I didn’t want to drool) in the business.

He was even excellent in Green Lantern, defying a villainous script and being, well, very green and still managing to come out unbesmirched by the movie’s mediocrity. One has to look no further than his great turn as the fatherly mafia boss Frank D’Amico in Kick-Ass to see what he could bring to the table as Lex Luthor.

My only quibble with this is the fact that it could very well mean that Strong would spend quite some time in the DC universe and therefore not doing movies more worthy of his considerable talents. But that’s obviously just me…

What do you think? Could Strong even top Gene Hackman’s iconic turn in the original Superman movies? Tell us in the comment section!

Madonna Shoots Dancer Dead In Controversial Trailer For Her 'Secret Project'

Madonna

Madonna is pushing the boundaries in her latest video.

It's not necessarily a music video, dance video or work of art — it's a kind of combination of the three and it's simply titled "Secret Project."

And it's really dark.

Not only is the video in black and white, but it features Madonna seemingly killing one of her dancers by shooting him in the head with a gun.

When asked if she would delete footage of guns from her upcoming tour documentary on "Good Morning America," Madonna said: "That would be like asking people to not have guns in action movies. The thing is, guns don’t kill people, people kill people."

Madonna is quite literally sticking to her guns after teasing the project for months on her Instagram account with stills from the "secret project."

The singer collaborated on the video with photographer Steven Klein, who worked on visuals for the 45-year-old singer's Re-Invention, Celebration and Sticky & Sweet tours.

The trailer debuted Tuesday during the New York City premiere of Madonna's "MDNA" concert film.

Appeals Court OK's $675,000 Fine For Guy Who Illegally Downloaded 30 Songs

joel tenenbaum 1

A federal appeals court has affirmed a $675,000 penalty for a guy who illegally downloaded 30 songs when he was in college at Boston University.

Joel Tenenbaum was ordered by a jury to pay the fine to the Recording Industry Association of America. He appealed, calling the $22,000-per-song penalty unconstitutionally excessive.

The First Circuit Court of Appeals in Boston thought the huge fine was in order, though.

"Tenenbaum carried on his activities for years in spite of numerous warnings, he made thousands of songs available illegally, and he denied responsibility," the First Circuit ruled.

Federal law stipulates that companies deserve $750 to $30,000 for each incident of copyright infringement and as much as $150,000 if the jury finds the infringement willful, or on purpose, the Associated Press reported.

But when he appealed his decision, Tenenbaum felt he only owed the record companies $450 in total, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The court said Tenenbaum's logic ignored the "deterrent effect of statutory damages," according to the Reporter. In other words, Circuit Judge Jeffrey Howard wanted to make an example of him, showing future Internet pirates they willget punished. That's exactly what Congress intended for reparations in civil cases.

Read The Leaked, Nasty Email Exchange Between Hollywood Honchos Ari Emanuel And Irving Azoff

0
0

Irving Azoff Ari Emanuel

Hollywood has been buzzing about the poison pen emails that have been flying back and forth in recent days between WME co-CEO Ari Emanuel and Irving Azoff, manager extraordinaire and possibly the most powerful guy in the music business.

We have the emails. And it ain't pretty.

Says Ari: "After repeatedly lying to me after I was loyal and defended you, you tried to take clients from this agency and never took responsibility for it."

Says Irving: "Love you tons Ari. I understand your illness. I forgive you."

Azoff’s wife Shelli chimes in as peacemaker with a lengthy plea to Ari to “Stop it" and count his blessings.

Instead, Ari snaps back: “Wake up and smell the coffee."

Shelli: “I hate coffee or anything mocha flavored."

Also See It as Slideshow! 8 of the Bitchiest Lines From Ari Emanuel and Irving Azoff's Explosive Email

WaxWord's personal favorite is Shelli Azoff's retort: "PS I am in the air on my new g450 just left Montana after buying it, we did ok with the LN stock, like I said, half full. Xoxoxo"

How did it all start?

Emanuel has been steaming over the fact that the Azoff's son, Jeffrey, went to work at rival agency CAA, where he has been bringing business. Emanuel holds Irving Azoff responsible for his losing clients like Britney Spears to the Death Star.

Meanwhile, Azoff resigned as CEO of Live Nation last year. Ari started this bitchfest after a Financial Times article came out last week about the concert company’s performance. He emailed Azoff on the 21st in the morning and told the music manager that he had stupidly sold his stock, since Live Nation stock went up.

That's how it started. But Emanuel, once a close friend of the Azoffs, has considered it perfidy that CAA hired his son. (Not that Jeffrey Azoff was ever working at or recruited by WME.)

We don't know what's gotten into Ari lately. Two weeks ago he launched an elaborate and expensive prank on CAA, papering the Century City mall with wannabe "CAAn't" posters. Agents inside his shop put their heads down, embarrassed.

Also read: Whodunit? Rival WME Launched CAA 'CAAN'T' Mystery Campaign

And now he's ignited an unnecessary war with a longtime friend - over what? Over the chance that Iriving Azoff picks Ari over his own son? Ari's smart, he knows that that's a losing battle. So yes, it's all pretty juicy and good gossip for the Hollywood grapevine, but we have to wonder: what is up with Ari Emanuel?

Both Azoff and Emanuel have declined to comment to TheWrap on this story.

A portion of the dozen or so emails dated June 21 are posted below:

Ari to Irving:

>>> I don't want to wish you well.
. You also take no responsibility for your actions and their impact on people. After repeatedly lying to me after I was loyal and defended you, you tried to take clients from this agency and never took responsibility for it.
. That's not happening with me. I'm not from this town. My roots are elsewhere, and let me tell you something: I don't forget and won't forget. I keep grudges for a lifetime, and you're one of them now. I look forward to the relationship that we now have.
>>>

Irving to Irene, his assistant, and Ari:

>>> Irene. Please block this psychopath from sending me further emails. Love you tons Ari. I understand your illness. I forgive you.

Shelli Azoff, copied on the email string, to Ari:

Ari,
I wake up every morning and look up and say thank you.. I can't believe my life, I am blessed beyond my wildest expectations... I have the most amazing husband and children who are healthy and happy and who love me unconditionally..I have more money then I can spend (not saying I would say no to more), i surround myself with people who are funny, happy and loving, AND I survived cancer... I am happy everyday and I live my life in a positive way.
I try to solve problems with compromise and always give the benefit of the doubt. I have never been an angry person and think that fighting is a waste of time. I believe that success and happiness are the best revenge that life has to offer when somebody treats me badly..
Irving lives his life the same way. He is the best person I have ever known. He is loyal and generous to a fault.. You couldn't have a better friend in your life.
Is he a good business man, yes, brilliant.. I am sorry you feel lied to, I know that there has been a lot of mistrust and miscommunication between the two of you during the past year and I believe that some of that was caused by outside people and some of it because u each were protecting your own interests. That happens, but he was always looking to do the right thing, for all involved.. Im sorry u dont believe that. Taking your clients? I don't know ari, I feel like I just read that Brett Ratner left his rep to come to you, isn't that considered taking a client? That is business.. It goes both ways, I believe he gave u clients in the past too. He came from nothing and has accomplished more than I could ever have dreamed of, he is respected and well liked, so he must be doing something right..
If you want to fight with him, go for it, but if I have anything to say about it, it will be a one way fight because we honestly like u and your whole family, and besides, do u really want to spend your energy that way? Do u really want another enemy? Do u really think U can hurt Irving? U r at the top of the mountain, sit back and enjoy it, make friends because truly ari, nobody stays there, I am older then you and have seen it a million times..
This is me, this is who I am and I hate coffee or anything mocha flavored but it was a great line, I give u that.. We will always give u a hug and a kiss, we would go to Auldbrass with u and on the boat too, because whether u believe it or not we r your friends...

Oprah Winfrey Named The Most Powerful Celebrity In The World

0
0

oprah winfrey

Television talk show queen Oprah Winfrey was named the most powerful celebrity in the world on Wednesday as Forbes.com released its annual list of the top movers and shakers in the entertainment industry.

Winfrey, 59, who was ranked in the top spot despite her signature daytime television show Oprah ending its 25-year run in 2011, headed a 100-strong list which featured six women in the top 10.

Forbes.com uses a complex methodology to come up with its list, taking into account various factors including earnings, the number of mentions each celebrity gets in print and television and their Internet presence before deciding the rankings.

The website also gives each celebrity a marketability score out of 100 developed by a California-based market research form.

Winfrey made an estimated $77 million between June 2012 and June 2013, significantly less than other rivals on the list but came out on top after scoring well in areas such as press mentions and social networking power, Forbes.com said.

In second place was eccentric pop star Lady Gaga, who earned $80 million in the same period, while Hollywood titan Steven Spielberg was third. The legendary director and producer earned a cool $100 million in the past year.

The next three spots were occupied by women from the music world, with Beyonce Knowles in fourth ($53 million), Madonna in fifth ($125 million) and Taylor Swift ($55 million).

Rock band Bon Jovi took seventh with $79 million while Swiss tennis ace Roger Federer was the only athlete to make the list as he came in eighth.

Federer, sensationally dumped out of Wimbledon in the second round on Wednesday, pocketed $71 million.

Rounding out the top 10 were singer Justin Bieber ($58 million) and television comedienne Ellen DeGeneres ($56 million).

The Most Scandalous Moments Of Paula Deen's Career

0
0

Paula Deen

Paula Deen is falling apart.

Her tearful appearance on the Today show Wednesday morning clearly surprised Matt Lauer, who made multiple attempts to get the interview back on track as Deen tried to save her reputation by saying she wasn't racist.

Fans of hers were outraged when the Food Network announced its decision to drop Deen from the network, but it shouldn't be that much of a surprise if you look at her history. Deen has always been somewhat of a loose cannon, and this isn't the first controversy of hers that has threatened the Food Network's image.

The public outcry that followed the release of Deen's court deposition might just have been the straw that broke the camel's back for the Food Network and other partners who have recently severed ties with Deen.

As Deen said during her Today interview, she is facing a lot of scrutiny from people who don't know her personally. But regardless of her character, the outspoken celebrity chef has never been one to avoid controversy.

She wanted a profane outtake video shown before her appearances on a live cooking tour.

In 2012, a profane blooper reel emerged that shows Deen cursing, performing a sex act on an eclair, and saying a dish smells like "stinky coochie."

Deen reportedly wanted the video screened before her appearances at live cooking events, but the man running the tour refused. He told the New York Post that Celebrity Chef Tours "found it to be unacceptable because it’s certainly not family content."

She later ditched the tour and sued the man running it.

Deen said the check from Celebrity Chef Tours bounced, so she backed out of it and sued Gary Ravet, the president of the company for $1.25 million, according to the New York Post. He then countersued for $40 million, citing a breach of contract from Deen.

The suit settled out of court, and the terms of the deal are confidential (although Ravet reportedly said Deen "paid a lot of money").

Her erratic appearance on the Today show had many speculating she might have been drunk on-air.

The hosts drank mojitos on the February segment, but Deen insisted that hers didn't contain alcohol and her rep denied the drinking allegations to TMZ. She might not have been drunk, but she certainly was outrageous.

Forbes Doesn't Consider People On Magazine Covers Powerful

0

katy perry part of me premiere

Forbes unveiled its coveted Celebrity 100 list for 2013 crowning Oprah Winfrey as the most powerful celeb of the past year.

What's more interesting than the people that make the cut is Forbes' new methodology for compiling its list of most powerful celebrities.

In the past, magazine covers featuring prominent celebs weighed heavily as a factor of where a celeb may place on the list.

No more.

Forbes detailed they "scrapped" counting celeb appearances on mag covers because, according to it, they now have a larger focus on reality stars who it doesn't consider to have what they deem as power.

From Forbes:

"In the past, we’ve given extra weight to magazine covers based on the logic that publications only select powerful, popular people for their valuable cover space.

But that emphasis had started to reward reality stars who know how to work the tabloid media but don’t actually have what we would consider power.

So we’ve scrapped that part of the metric."

Instead, the publication is relying more on E-Poll Market Research to assess how desirable celebrities are to marketers.

You can read more on how Forbes compiles its ranking here.

We decided to take a look at a few big-name magazines to see who graced the covers while Forbes compiled its assessment from June 2012 - June 2013.

We avoided publications that may be considered more tabloid-y.

From our findings, a few mag-friendly celebs were left off the list.

Kate Upton appeared on numerous magazines over the past year and landed her first cover on American Vogue this June. The ubiquitous Rihanna came shy of the top 10 while Bond man Daniel Craig — who's movie "Skyfall" made more than $1 billion last year— is no where to be found.

Even Anne Hathaway, with praised performances in last year's "The Dark Knight Rises" and "Les Misérables" failed to make the cut.

Even Duane Reade Is Purging Itself Of All Things Paula Deen

After the news spread last week that Paula Deen once dreamt of hosting a slavery-themed wedding and had used the N-word, it's hardly surprising that major brands started disassociating themselves with the celebrity chef.

First she was dropped by the Food Network. Then there was Caesars Casinos (which houses four of her restaurants), SmithfieldWalmart, Home Depot and even diabetes drug maker Novo Nordisk.

And after a quick trip to Duane Reade last night, I found out that even the pharmacy is trying to purge itself of all things Paula Deen.

Look what I found in the clearance bin:paula deen duane reade clearance

That's right, "Paula Deen's Cookbook for the Lunch-box Set" sitting next to her sons' "The Deen Bros. Take It Easy" cookbook.

Coincidence?

Potential buyers be warned: you can get the spiral-bound version of Paula Deen's book for only $8.80 on Amazon.

The Deen Bros' book is going for $17.56, so that's more of a steal.
