Soccer Mom From Fancy Suburb Charged In Multimillion-Dollar Pot Bust

Scarsdale Andrea Sanderlin

A soccer mom and budding equestrian from wealthy Scarsdale, N.Y. has been charged with running a massive pot operation from a Queens warehouse.

Andrea Sanderlin, 45, was taken in by DEA agents two weeks ago, but The Smoking Gun broke the news of her arrest Tuesday. There were allegedly 2,800 pot plants and "large quantities of dried marijuana" in the warehouse, according to court documents.

The DEA says the pot they found in the warehouse was worth $3 million, ABC News reports.

Sanderlin's alleged operation has been compared to the hit Showtime series "Weeds" about a suburban pot-dealing mom. Sanderlin has two kids who have a nanny, and she lives in a village where the median household income is $230,750. She's reportedly divorced.

“Our primary objective is to get her released so she can be there for her two children," her lawyer Joel Winograd told ABC. "She has never been in trouble.  She is a full time mother and she is an equestrian."

Her friend, Anthony Flores, told CBS New York that he knew Sanderlin for three years and just thought she was a "typical soccer mom."

“When I first met her she told me she was running a baby furniture operation,” Flores said. “[The arrest] blew my mind. Especially knowing her like interacting with her day to day. It’s just nuts. I would think not her of all people."

Channing Tatum: I Will 'Never' Medicate My Child For Learning Disabilities

Channing Tatum Vanity Fair

"Magic Mike" star Channing Tatum and his actress-wife, Jenna Dewan, just welcomed their first child — a baby girl named Everly — on May 31 in London.

Tatum hasn't even been a father for a week yet, but he's already dishing on what kind of parent he will be in a controversial new interview in this month's Vanity Fair

The 33-year-old actor reveals he was heavily medicated for learning disabilities as a young student.

“I truly believe some people need medication. I did not. I did better at school when I was on it, but it made me a zombie," Tatum explains to the magazine. "You become obsessive. Dexedrine, Adderall. It’s like any other drug. It’s like coke, or crystal meth. The more you do, the less it works.”

“For a time, it would work well. Then it worked less and my pain was more," the actor continued. "I would go through wild bouts of depression, horrible comedowns. I understand why kids kill themselves. I absolutely do. You feel terrible. You feel soul-less. I’d never do it to my child."

As for why Tatum was medicated in the first place, he reveals “I read so slow."

But he has since learned how to handle his learning disabilities, telling the magazine, "If I have a script I’m going to read it five times slower than any other actor, but I’ll be able to tell you everything in it. It kills me that there are standardized tests geared towards just one kind of child.”

As for his own upbringing, Tatum admits his parents weren't perfect.

"I don’t know anyone who did have perfect parents," he says, but noting that "It’s provided me with lessons I’ll try to improve upon when I’m up to bat. I’m just going to be a good friend to my kid.”

But one kid Tatum is already worried about? 19-year-old child star, Justin Bieber.

“I worry about Bieber, man. That kid’s wildly talented. I hope he doesn’t fall down into the usual ways of young kids because it’s so hard for someone to be responsible when they’re not asked to be,” says the actor.

He explains, “We’re not asked to do things ourselves. You have someone there with a coffee. ‘You want food? I’ll get you food.’”

As for why Tatum hasn't let fame go to his head, he says it's because “I broke through at 24 or 25. I had lived a pretty diverse life."

“I don’t remember who said it, but I do believe that whatever age you become famous, you end up staying that age," he continues. "Because from that point you’re not asked to be a normal citizen.”

Here's Why Superman Won't Wear His Iconic Red Underwear In 'Man Of Steel'

man of steel superman.PNG

When "Man of Steel" hits theaters next week, he'll be missing one glaring item from his attire.

The iconic red underwear that he's been wearing since Action Comic #1 will be gone.

What gives?

Warner Brothers released a 13-minute featurette on the film that shows behind-the-scenes footage of filming and explains why the crew ditched the red underwear.

Similar to "The Dark Knight" trilogy, screenwriter David S. Goyer said he, Christopher Nolan, and director Zack Snyder ("300") set out to create a film about a Superman that exists in the real world as opposed to a comic book version.

To do that they filmed in real locations like a 7-11 and they had to rid of the underwear. Really.

"I probably looked at hundreds of versions with underwear." says Snyder. "I couldn't make it consistent with the world that we were creating."

man of steel costume

Last year, Cavill was seen on set both with and without the underwear causing some fans of the "Man of Steel" to worry about the reimagining of one of the most popular superheroes.

For those working on the film, it was important to make a world where Superman's outfit makes sense to wear. Unlike other heroes like Spider-Man and Batman, the Man of Steel's outfit isn't one he's stitching together.

"Man of Steel" creators wanted it to feel like a natural outfit worn on his home planet of Krypton. For that reason, you'll also see Superman's parents, played by Russell Crowe and Ayelet Zurer, wear similar suits along with Michael Shannon's character General Zod.

Russell Crowe man of steel.PNG

A close look at the new skin suit outfit will show you it's inspired by Medieval times.

Costumes of council members in the film will have their own family symbols. Superman's "S" (which stands for Hope in the film and isn't actually an 'S' to him) will serve as his family crest.

Why did Superman ever have the red undies to begin with?

Snyder notes the underwear is a nod to Strong Men of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

Comic aficionados will know the reason for the underwear is also technical, added to divide his waist from the rest of his body when the issues went to print.

Check out more of the suits from the film here.

What do you think of the suit change to Superman?

You can check out the entire 13-minute featurette below.

Britain Bans Ad Showing Pamela Anderson Covered In Cream

Pamela Anderson

A TV advert featuring Pamela Anderson playing a company boss being squirted with cream has been banned for being 'sexist and degrading' to women.

The Advertising Standards Authority said the advert, in which a man fantasizes about Anderson and her assistant dancing in bikinis while covered in cream, was likely to cause serious offense to some viewers and ruled it must not be broadcast again in its current form.

Four viewers complained the ad was offensive after it showed Anderson chairing a meeting of men before her assistant poured cream into a cup of coffee while displaying her cleavage.

The ASA said the female characters were portrayed sexually throughout the ad, not just during the fantasy sequence, as their shirts were open to expose their bras and cleavages.

Anderson snapped the man out of his fantasy by calling his name sternly, but the final scene shows her assistant revealing her cleavage again.

The ad, for domain and web hosting company Dreamscape Networks, was originally cleared with a restriction that it should not be broadcast before 9pm.

Dreamscape Networks said it believed the ad was "anything but degrading to women", deliberately portraying Anderson and her assistant as "attractive, dynamic and confident business people".

The majority of viewers would find it "fanciful and humorous," a spokesman said.

The ASA said it understood that the ad was intended to be a humorous and light-hearted parody of a mundane business meeting.

But it said the fantasy scene, although limited to the man's imagination, gave the impression that he viewed his female colleagues as sexual objects.

The ASA said: "Because of that, we considered the ad was likely to cause serious offense to some viewers on the basis that it was sexist and degrading to women."

It ruled that the ad must not be broadcast again in its current form. Here's the ad:

Here's What To Expect From Lonely Island's New 'Wack Album'

the lonely island spring break anthem

The Lonely Island musical comedy troupe — composed of Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone — returns with a fresh supply of outrageous man-boy humor next week when their third album "The Wack Album" drops Tuesday.

In anticipation of the release, the comedy trio have debuted an original track or video every Wednesday for the last four weeks on YouTube as part of its #WackWednesdays series.

The final preview is a music video for "SPELL IT OUT," in which former "Saturday Night Live" star Samberg introduces The Lonely Island crew: Jorm, Kiv, and “Dude that has sex with pigs for money but only as a side thing right now."

Fans have come to expect the unexpected from the creators of hit parody music videos "D--- In A Box," "I'm On A Boat," and "Motherlover" — and so far, The Wack Album also delivers.

A mournful R&B ballad, "I F----- My Aunt," features returning collaborator T-Pain, and Beyoncé's baby sis Solange lends her talent to a goofy punctuation rap, "SEMICOLON."

The first single "Spring Break Anthem" boasts more than four million views.

The poppy, high-energy ode to a college ritual shows bikini-clad ladies slamming shot, bros pulling pranks on passed out friends, and — twist — sporadic and poignant shots of Samberg, Schaffer, and Taccone marrying men in conservative settings. Zack Galifianakis, James Franco, and Ed Norton play the loving partners.

Last week's installment is a grainy, one-shot video billed as a dance rehearsal for the track, "Go Kindergarten," featuring Robyn.

Performers wearing brown paper bags on their heads demonstrate new club moves like "punch your friends," "have a baby on the floor," and "eat a shoe." All-caps hashtags appear on screen, such as #MOLLYRINGWALD #ROBINTHICKE #INTERNETGIMMICK?

Expectations run high for the viral video gurus. Their sophomore album "Turtleneck & Chain" topped Billboard's comedy and rap charts by lunchtime on its release date in May 2011, and received both Emmy and Grammy nods.

"The Wack Album" rounds out the group's all-star list of collaborators with Hugh Jackman, Kristen Wiig, Too $hort, Pharrell Williams, and Billie Joe Armstrong.

Sunday's Unexpected 'Game Of Thrones' Episode Is Based On Real Events

catelyn stark game of thrones

If you tuned into "Game of Thrones" killer episode Sunday, you were most likely floored.

What you may not know, is that the graphic episode (read up on the spoilers here) was based on historical events.

Entertainment Weekly caught up with "Game of Thrones" author George R.R. Martin and he revealed the bloody events have roots in Scottish history.

"One was a case called The Black Dinner. The king of Scotland was fighting the Black Douglas clan. He reached out to make peace. He offered the young Earl of Douglas safe passage. He came to Edinburgh Castle and had a great feast. Then at the end of the feast, [the king's men] started pounding on a single drum. They brought out a covered plate and put it in front of the Earl and revealed it was the head of a black boar — the symbol of death. And as soon as he saw it, he knew what it meant. They dragged them out and put them to death in the courtyard. The larger instance was the Glencoe Massacre. Clan MacDonald stayed with the Campbell clan overnight and the laws of hospitality supposedly applied. But the Campbells arose and started butchering every MacDonald they could get their hands on."

The Black Dinner took place in 1440.

Here's a little more on the event from "Our Country, A History of Scotland":

"Douglas and his brother sat at dinner with the king, the chancellor, and the governor. The splendid entertainment was over, and the unsuspecting victims were gaily conversing. Meanwhile, the apartment had been silently beset with armed men who, on a signal from the governor, rushed in and seized the two brothers. The young king wept and clung to the chancellor's knees, vainly begging the lives of his friends. What the earl and his brother said is not on record; but, as the unhappy young men were hurried from the banquet to the block, their countenances, we are told, were "dreary!" Their heads were struck off in the back court of the castle."

38 were killed in the Glencoe Massacre of 1692 after an estimated 120 Campbells woke up early in the morning in the highlands of Scotland.

Again, from "Our Country, A History of Scotland":

"It was four o'clock of a dark winter morning, a storm was raving among the hills, and the wild blasts, laden with snow-drift, swept down the glen. Suddenly the glen rang with musket-shots, and shrieks of fear and agony, and the glare of burning cottages lit up the gloom. The butchery was not nearly so complete as had been intended, by far the greater part of the MacDonald's escaping in the darkness. Thirty-eight of them, however, perished in the atrocious massacre."

Bobbi Kristina Brown

Whitney Houston's 20-year-old daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown doesn't like being told what to do.

Just ask the neighbors in her Alpharetta, Georgia, apartment building where Brown just got evicted.

After six months of countless noise complaints, Brown and her adopted brother-turned-boyfriend were eventually booted from the building and left a nasty note as a parting gift.

A Reddit user first posted the note, which begins by "thanking" her downstairs neighbors "for making a hard year harder" and calling them "S--- at the bottom of our shoe."

She goes on to write:

"You are a miserable couple, and always will be. You were honored to have us living above you and you couldn't stand such a young beautiful couple being far more successful than you ever will be. I pray your misery doesn't rub off on your innocent little baby."

Lady Gaga's fake fingernail — a dangerous accessory to her signature "monster claw" — auctioned off for approximately $12,000.

The black pinkie nail, emblazoned with gold glitter and beads, completed the Mother Monster's over-the-top outfit at last year's launch of her Fame Fragrance. It was hand painted by her personal manicurist Aya Fukuda.

A photograph taken the following night during a "The Born This Way Ball" tour stop in Dublin shows Gaga missing the acrylic nail on her left hand.

A crew member found the mini dagger backstage at the Aviva Stadium after Gaga's performance.

"I noticed an object on the floor of the stage, which at first I thought was a guitar plectrum," the crew member said, according to the auction listing. "When I picked it up, I saw it was an acrylic nail."

The lucky, if not obsessed, buyer will receive the nail, a letter of provenance from its rescuer, two photographs of Gaga with and without the nail at the perfume event and on-stage, an Aviva Stadium staff handbook, an event crew wristband, and a Lady Gaga "The Born This Way Ball" grey crew t-shirt.

Johnny Depp's Film Financiers And Agent Are At Odds Over $20 Million Salary

$

0

Johnny Depp in Public Enemies.Last month, it was reported Johnny Depp had walked off the highly anticipated mob biopic "Black Mass" after he was asked to take a 50% pay cut from his usual $20 million fee — leaving his take still at a hefty $10 million.

But now, The Hollywood Reporter is citing several sources — some who say Depp is still set to star in the film and others who say he's no longer attached  giving an inside look into the wheeling and dealing that actually went down.

A source at Cross Creek, the film's financiers, explains to THR:

"Depp and [director] Levinson’s deals included language that required the budget of the film to top off at $50 million. When the budget came in at $63 million, Cross Creek asked all of the film’s above-the-line talent, including co-star Joel Edgerton to slash their salaries to make up the $13 million."

While Depp would have gotten a sizable paycheck, apparently it's a no-no to ask an A-list star to take a pay cut for their craft.

“This situation is absurd,” a source tells THR. “You would never have a star of Depp’s magnitude and not have all of the deal’s preconditions buttoned down before taking it to market. Either his team screwed up and left him exposed or Cross Creek is simply reneging on its deal."

"Someone is suing someone at the end of this," adds the source.

Apparently Depp is known to pay cuts for passion projects, as he is with Disney’s upcoming "Into the Woods" for which he'll make less than a million upfront.

But “The second they asked him to take a cut, that was a mistake,” says another source with knowledge of the "Black Mass" situation, which Depp's agent at UTA thought was a done deal. “They overplayed their hand.”

Cross Creek has reportedly approached Tom Cruise about the project, but ultimately if they "can't find a way to keep Depp on the project, it would create a huge headache."

Seth Rogen And James Franco Are Reportedly Killing Kim Jong Un In An Upcoming Film

$

kim jong un attack plan us

So, who's in the running to play Kim Jong Un in the forthcoming film about a North Korean leader being assassinated?

E!Online reports that Seth Rogen and James Franco are reuniting for a comedy in which they travel to North Korea.

Specifically, Rogen told the Hollywood gossip website:

"It's about two journalists that try to assassinate the president of North Korea while interviewing him."

Involved is Rogen's longtime collaborator, Evan Goldberg — with whom he made Superbad, along with The Green Hornetand The Watch.

E! quoted Goldberg as saying:

"James and Seth play reporters who get an interview with the dictator of North Korea and the CIA asks them to kill him. They're going to play a--holes."

Rogen and Goldberg will co-direct the new comedy — that's right, comedy — based on a story co-written with Dan Sterling of The Sarah Silverman Program, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Columbia Pictures has bought the rights to the picture, set to be called The Interview, and plans to make it for around $30 million.

Rogen will star as a talk-show producer, who along with his host accidentally becomes embroiled in a plot to assassinate the leader of North Korea. Franco is slated to play the host of the show, although the Reporter admitted that "talks with Franco have yet to commence."

Which leaves open the question of who will play the son and political successor of the late dictator Kim Jong Il.

Rogen, speaking at the premiere of his new movie This Is the End, rather cryptically provided an answer. Of sorts.

"It's Kim Jong Un. Literally Kim Jong Un in the movie. We figured it's North Korea, you might as well make it Kim Jong Un."

Hopefully, Kim — if he is to appear — won't mind commuting.

Goldberg said the film wouldn't actually be filmed in North Korea...

"We're going to the foreign land of Vancouver, Canada."

The Definitive List Of The 11 Best Mad Men Episodes Of All Time

$
0
0

mad men don draper season 6

Mad Men is universally acclaimed as one of the best shows on television— ever.

Not only does the show's production quality give it a visual flair like no other, the AMC channel's hit series deftly weaves in influences from genres outside of traditional serialized drama and integrates historical events from the period in a way that doesn't feel forced or hackneyed.

Plus, we love it because ad execs are the heroes and the villains.

These are the episodes that cemented Mad Men's reputation in the history of the small screen.

11. Season 3, Episode 6 - Guy Walks Into an Advertising Agency

Besides being the funniest episode of Mad Men, this episode received acclaim for its perfect use of an old screenwriting trope: if you show the gun in the first act, someone better get shot in the third. Only this time the gun was a lawnmower operated by a drunk secretary and the guy getting shot had his foot and a not-insignificant amount of blood sprayed over four Sterling Cooper employees.

While it was hinted that something was going to happen with the lawnmower from the beginning of the episode, the climactic moment of seeing Guy MacKendrick's foot burst onto the screen was an unexpected moment of both humor and gore.

10. Season 5, Episode 6 - Far Away Places

At this point in the series, Roger Sterling was starting to feel a little boring to most viewers. After losing Lucky Strike, he didn't seem to be doing much but frivolously spending money and drinking at the office. Then he dropped acid.

Becoming seemingly "enlightened," Roger became one of the few characters on the show to realize that he didn't have to feel trapped in an unhappy marriage. Even after coming to terms with the fact that it was over between Jane and himself, Roger gained an extra bit of pep that made him one of the more fun characters on the show in the latter half of the fifth season.

9. Season 6, Episode 8 - The Crash

Whoa. What did the heck did the SCDP team take in this episode? MDMA? Heroine? This episode gave us an interesting and entertaining look at drug use in the '60s, only this time in the context of the uppers that professionals were taking to deal with the stress of the corporate world.

Besides the drug-fueled antics, seeing young Don's childhood in the brothel gave us an interesting look at the experiences that shaped Don's outlook on sex and life in general. Knowing that he lost his virginity to a prostitute (and that his mother beat him when she found out) explained a lot.

The Creepy 1983 Cult Movie 'Videodrome' Got Everything Right About Modern Life And The Internet

Videodrome

There are two types of movie fans: Those who have been freaked out by the 1983 cult classic "Videodrome," and those who have never heard of it.

The movie, starring James Woods and Debbie Harry, is about a cable TV executive who becomes addicted to a secret "pirate" video channel that broadcasts a late-night torture porn show called "Videodrome." The show ends up taking control of his life, through a series of hallucinations.

The movie was made by director David Cronenberg, who has spent a lifetime investigating the creepy interface between sex and technology. He later became famous for "The Fly," "Dead Ringers," "Crash" and "eXistenZ."

What's interesting about "Videodrome," however, is the way it explores the idea that the virtual world is more interesting than the real world, especially as it relates to sex.

Bear in mind that Cronenberg shot this idea more than a decade before the internet existed as a household device.

It's creepy how prescient the movie is about modern life ...

The original shock of 'Videodrome' in 1983 was the idea that people would actually want to watch someone being tortured. In 2004, the 'Saw' franchise was born and torture-porn is now old hat.

In 'Videodrome,' James Woods' character, Max Renn, becomes addicted to watching the show. The idea was ridiculous at the time. But today the idea of being 'addicted' to the internet is widely accepted.

When 'Videodrome' portrayed the kinky sex life of Nikkie Brand (Debbie Harry) in 1983, it was shocking. Today, BDSM is a pop culture staple.
