Ace Of Base Band Member Apologizes For Alleged Nazi Ties

Ulf Ekberg Ace of Base

"All that he wants" is to set the record straight.

Ace of Base's Ulf Ekberg has faced criticism lately after a photo of the Swedish musician allegedly doing the Nazi salute hit the web.

In his younger, pre-Ace of Base days, Ekberg was part of a band named Commit Suicide — a New Wave music band creating and performing electronic music on synthesizers.

While Ekberg tells E! Online the band has been misconstrued as "skinhead music with very racist lyrics," he admits "our potential association with such groups is a matter I truly regret."

An alleged Commit Suicide demo tape of six songs with such content has been floating around the web, but Ekberg explains that only "two of the songs on this demo where written and performed by us."

He adds, "These songs have absolutely nothing to do with Commit Suicide. We did not write or perform those songs that were attributed to us."

But, he does admit that "some of my thoughts from those days" are "nauseating."

According to music site Noisey.com, one of the songs includes these controversial lyrics: "Men in white hoods march down the road, we enjoy ourselves when we're sawing off n-----s' heads / Immigrant, we hate you! Out, out, out, out! Nordic people, wake up now! Shoot, shoot, shoot, shoot!"

Today, Ekberg tells E! "I have always been deeply regretful of that period in my life, as I strive to bring happiness to people, and during that period I did not live up to that standard. I have not been involved in violence or political activism in the past 25 years. However, I find some of my thoughts from those days nauseating to myself today."

And although he admits to having had such ideas as a teenager, Ekberg also says that "those opinions where based on poor judgment and ignorance."

Jimmy Kimmel drinking Jimmy Fallon

With Jimmy Fallon passing him glasses of wine, Jimmy Kimmel drank to Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer during his speech at Tuesday's Time 100 gala in New York City.

"I live in Los Angeles so I wasn't planning to be here tonight but Marissa Mayer said I had to come in," Kimmel joked. "And she's very influential."

Kimmel then questioned his own spot on Time magazine's list, jokingly asking "Are we really that influential? Time tricked us into coming here so we could have dinner with people who buy ads in their magazine. During the Knicks game, too."

"There's a group of people represented here tonight who I believe are even more important than the doctors who are working on a cure for cancer and HIV," the late night host continued. "And that is comedians. People like Lena Dunham, the kid genius."

Kimmel ended his speech by saying, "I want to toast my future rival, Jimmy Fallon, who's getting me very drunk."

14 Haircuts That Ruined Celebrity Careers

$

karlie klossModel Karlie Kloss recently caused controversy when she cut her long hair short just two days before her runway debut as a Victoria's Secret angel.

Despite her career currently picking up steam, Kloss continued to anger Victoria's Secret fans when she kept the shorter 'do for a recent ad campaign.

And you know what happens when you upset Victoria's Secret fans? You get ousted, like Miranda Kerr reportedly just was for becoming too big for the brand.

As these 14 celebrities examples show, a star's hairstyle correlates strongly to their success.

From cancelled television shows to bringing down a pop star, check out the power of a hairstyle.

Miley Cyrus cut her hair and reportedly postponed her wedding.

After Miley Cyrus tweeted photos of her new haircut, in which part of her head was shaved, fans and foes were quick to disapprove.

Cyrus blew off her haters, tweeting "if you don’t have something nice to say don’t say anything at all ... Never felt more me in my whole life. LOVE my hair. feel so happy, pretty, and free.”

But since Cyrus' haircut last August, her relationship with fiancé Liam Hemsworth is reportedly on the rocks, in part because she says "I have pushed everyone away for music."

Lindsay Lohan dyed her natural ginger locks blonde and became known as a Hollywood party girl.

After starring in box office hits "Mean Girls" and "Freaky Friday" with red hair, Lindsay Lohan was one of the most sought-after actresses in the world.

But shortly after she dyed her red hair bleach blonde and lost a ton of weight, Lohan started to be seen in a different light.

Today, she's often associated with partying more so than acting.

This summer she's expected to check into a rehab facility for a 90-day court ordered stay.

Sofia Vergara is a natural blonde, but only got work as an actress once she dyed her hair dark to "fit the Hollywood stereotype for a Latina woman.”

Colombian beauty Sofia Vergara is known for her long brown locks, but it's surprisingly not the Emmy-winning "Modern Family" star's natural hair color.

The 40-year-old actress was actually born blonde, but has said she dyed her hair because “It didn’t match the Hollywood stereotype for a Latina woman.”

Once she dyed her hair dark, teh roles starting pouring in.

“I think I should have always had dark hair,” Vergara has said.

'Iron Man 3' Reviews: Ben Kingsley's Villain Steals The Spotlight

$

iron man 3 suit

The first "Iron Man 3" reviews are out after the film's world premiere in Los Angeles last night.

If you're worried that the third time won't be a charm for Tony Stark, the sequel has already launched successfully in a dozen overseas locations, aiming toward a $110 million debut in its opening week.

The first wave of 'Iron Man 3' reviews are overwhelmingly positive, praising Robert Downey Jr., Ben Kingsley's menacing villain The Mandarin, and surprise twists from director Shane Black.

Black took over the director's chair from Jon Favreau who oversaw the first two films to screen, a role which worried some since he's mostly known for screenwriting ("Lethal Weapon"). Previously, he had other film under his directorial belt, 2005's "Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang in which Robert Downey Jr. also stars.

"Iron Man 3" follows Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) after the fallout of last year's summer blockbuster, "The Avengers."

The film is partially based on a six-issue "Extremis" comic in which villain The Mandarin (Ben Kingsley) unleashes an army of soldiers with the help of scientist Aldrich Killain (Guy Pearce).

"Iron Man 3" won't be in U.S. theaters until May 3, but, until then, here's what you need to know before deciding to see the film.

Downey Jr. is as superb as ever in his return as Tony Stark:

The Hollywood Reporter (THR):

"Downey is at his superhero genius best here, rattling off dialogue both clever and boilerplate with non-repetitive aplomb ... The star executes almost continual verbal pirouettes, barking out sardonic quips and rejoinders even in moments of greatest distress but, due to his exceptional lingual dexterity, it rarely gets old and never seems condescending to the admittedly cartoonish context."

Black does a fine job back in the director's chair, and will remind fans of his last go-around with Downey Jr.:

Hitfix:

"'Kiss Kiss Bang Ban' fans in particular are going to find themselves howling at the film's framing device and at a few twists and turns in the detective elements of the story."

Empire:

"It’s Kiss Kiss Bang Bang with a lot of extra bang."

iron man 3 the mandarinOne thing everyone can agree on: Ben Kingsley's Mandarin villain is amazing.

Digital Spy:

"One of the great surprises of the movie is Kingsley's turn as the Bin Laden-ish bad guy, hamming it up and giving Stark a reality check on who's to blame for all this."

Total Film

"Kingsley’s ultra-menacing turn as The Mandarin is nothing short of sensational."

The Mirror:

"Barely a scene goes by without a killer of a one-liner, with The Mandarin getting some of the best. In fact, he might be the most eye-catching superhero villain since Heath Ledger’s Oscar-winning turn as The Joker in The Dark Knight."

Empire magazine

"People will be talking about Ben Kingsley’s performance for ages to come — it’s a tricky, delicate role, handled beautifully."

guy pearce iron man 3Not enough is said about the film's other villain, Guy Pearce's scientist-gone-rogue Aldrich Killian.

IGN provided the best analysis:

"Special mention should also go to Guy Pearce, who is just about believable as the unfortunate Killian in the film’s early scenes, and then absolutely spellbinding as the character becomes more refined and ambiguous later on in proceedings."

Despite all the revealing teasers and trailers of late, there are a few unexpected twists that will still surprise:

THR

"The ante is upped beyond mere contemporary relevance by some major surprises—one of them, at the 75-minute mark, quite startlingly funny—that shoot the film up to an entirely different level of screwy humor and large-canvas spectacle."

Some of the action sequences may hit close to home for some. There's a scene that shows an attack in front of Hollywood's Chinese Theatre where it appears bombs go off:

Variety

"Although clearly unintentional, the movie’s recurring images of severed limbs and burning bodies can’t help but strike a queasy note in light of the recent events in Boston."

The film's a trite long at more than two hours. (The film's runtime is 130 minutes.)

The Mirror:

"If there’s a criticism, it’s that the film slows down somewhere around the halfway mark and it wouldn’t have hurt to chop out a good 20 minutes from that epic running time."

Total Film:

"Coming in at just over two hours, it suffers a few saggy sequences (Rhodes’ detour to Afghanistan, for example) that weigh down the film’s convoluted middle act."

Ty Simpkins Iron Man 3 PremiereThere's a breakout star in Ty Simpkins ("Insidious") who plays Stark's mini-sidekick.

Hitfix:

"Ty Simpkins ... plays a kid who runs into Tony at his lowest point, and what could be a disgustingly syrupy relationship in the wrong hands is actually very funny and does a nice job of reminding Tony about humility."

The biggest downsides with a new director is that the film feels a bit overwhelming and overly reliant on technology:

Variety:

"Favreau’s handcrafted touch is conspicuously absent, particularly his affection for retro, Ray Harryhausen-esque visual effects. (This is by far the most digital-looking series entry.) Perhaps fittingly for a movie that introduces a new generation of remote-guided Iron Man suits, “Iron Man 3” all too often feels as if it were assembled by a machine."

Time Out:

"He [Black] seems out of his depth during the larger set pieces: the action sequences are busy and confusing, especially the misjudged, threat-free climax. The result is a film which never settles into a comfortable groove. It tries to be an angsty ‘Dark Knight’-style game changer, an ’80’s-throwback action romp, a nudge-wink pastiche and a CG-fuelled spectacular."

Don't see it in 3D.

Total Film:

"3D post-conversion adds absolutely nothing, apart from some irritating plastic glasses to your face and a layer of murk that renders set-pieces occasionally hard to follow."

Overall, the film is a thrill ride:

IGN

"A superhero flick with smarts, depth and a marvelously mischievous sense of fun."

Empire:

"If this does turn out to be Downey Jr.’s final solo outing, it’s a very strong exit."

General consensus: See it ASAP

Shane Black hits it out of the park in his second directorial debut with Robert Downey Jr. at his side once again. Though early trailers for the film made the third "Iron Man" appear as broody as a "Dark Knight" film, it looks like another fun ride with Downey Jr. in the driver's seat as Tony Stark.

"Iron Man 3" is out in the U.S. May 3.

Kathie Lee Gifford Gets Hundreds Of NBC Signatures On Letter In Support Of Matt Lauer

$

Kathie Lee Matt LauerAnn Curry may still be upset with Matt Lauer, but the rest of the "Today" show family is rallying behind the longtime anchor — especially fourth hour host, Kathie Lee Gifford.

According to NY Daily News, Gifford decided to write a letter in support of Lauer, have his NBC co-workers sign it, and run it in USA Today as an ad.

In the letter, Gifford — who has faced her fair share of media scrutiny — writes:

“We the people of the ‘Today’ show who work side by side, day by day, year in and year out with Matt Lauer are tired of unfounded and unrelenting stories by faceless characters regarding his character and reputation. No one has coerced us to sign this. With our signatures we stand in support of our colleague and friend.”

Over three weeks, Gifford garnered hundreds of signatures from “Today” staffers. Each signature included the employee’s position and how long they had worked alongside Lauer — many for more than 20 years.

Among the signatures — which spanned seven pages — were Lauer’s co-host, Savannah Guthrie, Al Roker, Willie Geist and Hoda Kotb.

One name noticeably absent was Ann Curry, who Gifford says she simply hasn't seen to give her the opportunity to sign.

“She’s just not part of (the show) day-in and day-out anymore," explains Gifford. "This wasn’t about Ann, this is about our love and support for a different member of our family.”

Gifford furthered explained to the NY Daily News.

“We read the same newspapers and saw all the media reports, and it was frustrating for all of us watching it day to day and feeling a little helpless. No one seemed to be interested in the truth, and that was really frustrating for me because I have a deep sense of injustice about things. I don’t like somebody taking credit for something they had nothing to do with and I certainly don’t like somebody taking blame for something that they’re not responsible for. We all wanted to say something to Matt and nobody wanted to put him in a position that would make him uncomfortable. So unbeknownst to anyone higher up at NBC, I just started this thing.”

Gifford says Lauer was touched by the letter when she presented it to him this week, but asked that it not run in USA Today as planned, instead keeping it "in the family."

Kevin Spacey: TV And Film Industries Have A Lot To Learn From Netflix

$

kevin spacey netflix house of cards

When Netflix rolled out all 13 episodes of the original series "House Of Cards" at once it flipped the pay-TV industry model on its head.

Rather than waiting weekly for a new episode to premiere, consumers were offered instant gratification with an entire season at their fingertips to offer the ultimate in viewing flexibility: the ability to watch when they want to and without the added commercials.

They were also presented with an altered way to discuss spoilers in television shows.

Almost instantaneously, conversation revolved around whether this would — and should — be the model for television to follow in the future

While television and filmmakers won't be copying Netflix's model anytime soon, Kevin Spacey thinks execs should pay attention.

In an interview with Capitol File magazine, the "House of Cards" star shared how Netflix's decision to roll out all 13 episodes of the series simultaneously is a game changer:

"It’s a real opportunity for the film and television industry to learn the lesson the music industry didn’t learn. Give the audience what they want, when they want it, in the form they want it in, at a reasonable price, and they’ll buy it."

Though Netflix refuses to reveal how many people have viewed the series, the original programming doesn't come cheap.

"House of Cards" is estimated to cost upwards of $4.5 million per episode. (To compare, most television series episodes cost under $4 million to produce.)

House of CardsThe big bet of releasing 13 episodes at once in February paid off.

Right now, Netflix is soaring. After its Q1 results came out, its stock shot up nearly 20%.

The site just launched another new series thriller "Hemlock Grove" which the company said was viewed by more globally in its debut weekend than "House of Cards." The original series also rolled out all season episodes at once.

Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos said earlier at a conference this year the company is simply evolving television in a way consumers want.

Later this year, the streaming site will launch the highly-anticipated return of Fox's cancelled "Arrested Development," a comedy from Weeds creator Jenji Kohan titled "Orange is the New Black," and an original DreamWorks Animation series called "Turbo: F.A.S.T. (Fast Action Stunt Team)" inspired by an upcoming film.

Season 2 of "House of Cards" is currently filming 13 new episodes in Baltimore which are set to release simultaneously, according to Capitol File.

Katie Couric First Wanted To Work In Advertising But No One Would Hire Her

katie couric

If Katie Couric had gotten her way in 1979, she probably wouldn't be a household name today.

While on the hunt for a job during her senior year at the University of Virginia, Couric took a trip down Madison Avenue to interview at advertising agencies, Ad Age reports.

"I wanted to be on a creative team," Couric said. "Basically, I wanted to be Peggy Olsen."

But she bombed the interviews. Couric told Ad Age the tale of her absolute worst interview at Grey Advertising:

It was a terrible, rainy nasty day. I had a very bad cold which made for an inauspicious beginning. I walked outside and had a cheap umbrella that blew inside out in the wind, I couldn't get a cab and I had mascara running down my face. I was a pretty pathetic sight. I interviewed with a couple places and nobody was interested in hiring me. But my last interview of the day was with a head of personnel at Grey. I think her name was Barbara. I got there and my feet were soaking wet. During the interview I started crying. I'm not proud of that. I was just so discouraged. And to add insult to injury she told me that I 'should consider getting a job closer to my parents.

Some things probably work out for the best.

Her first job in 1979 was at the ABC News bureau in Washington D.C. and the rest is history.

Kaley Cuoco: 'Fake Bangs Almost Ruined My Career'

kaley cuoco SAG

Kaley Cuoco finally revealed what was up with her odd look at this year's SAG Awards.

"The Big Bang Theory" star was slammed in January when she showed up to the ceremony with bangs.

(Reviews called her hair "far from bangin'"  and compared it to helmet hair.)

Last night, she appeared on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" and explained to the late-night host she wore fake bangs to hide a black eye and six stitches received on set of "The Big Bang Theory."

According to Cuoco, she received the injury from co-star Johnny Galecki while attempting to pull a prank on the show's crew for the gag reel.

"Johnny and I decided, now that we have the scene, let's do a prank where he actually fake punches me, and I go flying out of frame," shared Cuoco.

The punch ended up being real, leaving the actress bleeding on set; however, she had no clue she was really injured.

"They [the crew] thought I went under [the table] and sprayed blood on my face," said Cuoco. "I had cracked my head open and I had blood squirting down my face. I didn't even know. I had no idea."

When it came time for the SAG awards, Cuoco decided to cover up with fake bangs.

"I wanted to wear them because it covered my eye and I was really insecure about this huge black eye," said Cuoco. "These bangs who I've named Bev almost ruined my entire career."

See Cuoco describe her set injury below:

Now, see her with the eyebrow-raising wig below:

Later in the show, Kimmel's sidekick Guillermo let the wig fly off attached to a set of colorful balloons mimicking Disney film, "Up":

Victoria's Secret Slams Religious Ex-Model: 'She Was Never An Angel'

Kylie Bisutti Victoria's Secret religious model

23-year-old model-turned-devout Christian Kylie Bisutti made waves this week when the New York Post published an excerpt from her upcoming book "I’m No Angel: From Victoria’s Secret Model to Role Model."

In the memoir, Bisutti writes “It wasn’t about modeling clothes anymore; I felt like a piece of meat" and claimed that she had to “play down my marriage … because I was supposed to be flirting with everyone all the time.”

Bisutti eventually left the profession "to honor god" by announcing her departure with this tweet“I quit being a VS model to be a Proverbs 31 wife."

But today, Victoria's Secret is fighting back — saying "She was never a Victoria’s Secret ‘Angel.’"

The retailer goes so far as to say, "And contrary to Ms. Bisutti’s claims, she was never offered any subsequent modeling contracts or opportunities with Victoria’s Secret despite her multiple appeals for further work."

Victoria's Secret released this scathing statement clarifying Bisutti's role at their company:

“Ms. Bisutti has made numerous fabrications and misstatements of fact regarding her brief association with Victoria’s Secret. In 2009, Ms. Bisutti won an online amateur modeling competition and hasn’t worked for us since that year. The prize for the winning contestant was the unique opportunity to a one-time walk in the 2009 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. Ms. Bisutti also participated in a swim photo shoot in 2009. That was the extent of Ms. Bisutti’s involvement with Victoria’s Secret. She was never a Victoria’s Secret ‘Angel’ as defined by the terms of our Angel model contract. And contrary to Ms. Bisutti’s claims, she was never offered any subsequent modeling contracts or opportunities with Victoria’s Secret despite her multiple appeals for further work. She has repeatedly fabricated her work experience with Victoria’s Secret — including a relationship that simply did not exist.”

Meanwhile, Bisutti is trying to smoothe things over with Victoria's Secret via Twitter:

The 96-year-old actress Zsa Zsa Gabor and her ninth husband Prince Frédéric van Anhalt have had quite the real-estate year.

First they found a buyer for their Bel Air mansion and the property went into escrow.

Then a judge decreed earlier this month that the couple — behind in their mortgage payments — could stay in the home for three more years or until Gabor's death, Reuters reported.

Now, it seems the property is back on the market, for $14.9 million through Rodeo Realty, according to celebrity real estate blog The Real Estalker.

Prince William, Prince Harry, Kate Middleton and her polka dot-clad baby bump toured the new "Harry Potter" and "Batman" exhibits at the Friday launch of Warner Bros. Studios in Leavesden, England.

During a speech to inaugurate the studio, Prince William joked he would like to “borrow” the Batmobile for the weekend and teased his younger brother Prince Harry, saying "I haven't told him yet that Harry Potter isn't real."

"I'm over the moon just to have seen the real batmobile and batbike,” he added. “You don't do baby seats for those cars do you?"

Turns out Prince William is a pretty big "Batman" fan, publicly pleading "Please make another in the 'Dark Knight' series. And another, and another."

William even joked about taking over the "Batman" role, saying "Christian Bale's getting old and tired. I will stand in if I have to."

Check out the royals' fun day at Warner Bros. below:

Elvis impersonator

On Tuesday, charges were dropped against professional Elvis impersonator Paul Kevin Curtis after he was falsely accused of sending letters containing "a suspicious granular substance" called ricin to President Obama, a senator and a judge.

The bizarre news story brought a sometimes-forgotten profession into the forefront of people's minds: celebrity impersonators.

From Elvis and Michael Jackson to Kate Middleton and Brad Pitt, many make their living simply because they resemble a famous face.

GLENN BECK: Fox News Was 'Intoxicating,' But I Escaped With 'My Soul Intact'

Glenn Beck

During the long, drawn-out process of leaving Fox News, Glenn Beck remembers network president Roger Ailes telling him that he would never leave. He felt trapped — and too many people, Beck says, stay trapped in the rigid "system."

Nobody leaves television, Ailes told him. Nobody leaves a television empire like Fox.

"Because it's an intoxicating thing. It really is truly intoxicating," Beck said Friday, explaining his highly-publicized 2011 departure during an appearance at the Tribeca Disruptive Innovation Awards in New York Friday.

Beck's exodus from television has been successful. His website, The Blaze, claims to have more than 10 million unique visitors per month, and Glenn Beck TV, his online television channel, had more than 300,000 subscribers at the end of 2012, according to a network source.

"News is like sausage," Beck said. "You might like to eat it, but you never want to see it made."

Using recent coverage of the Boston Marathon bombings as an example, Beck said he believes that television — and especially cable news — is too trapped in a "system," where the costs of good production are astronomical.

"Everything that is happening with the Boston bombers — now, we're not going back last week and going, 'Here's [Fox News host] Bret Baier showing you what happened," Beck said. "You go to YouTube, and you see the people with the cameras. There's no filter between them and you. And that's where we're headed."

Fox News, he said, isn't any better than its competitors in that sense. But he said he got out of television with his soul still "intact."

Moderator Aryeh Bourkoff, CEO of LionTree, asked Beck if he would ever consider trying to buy a network and building it with his vision.

"I don't know because I haven't thought about it, a lot. But I would fire a lot of people," he said.
