Victoria's Secret Fans Hate Karlie Kloss's Short Hair In A Recent Ad Campaign

karlie kloss victoria's secret

When Karlie Kloss walked the runway at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show last year, she wore hair extensions that lengthened her signature bob.

But Victoria's Secretrecently showcased the highly popular haircut, now branded "The Karlie," in its most recent ad campaign, and fans weren't happy about it.

"Short hair isn't sexy," fumed one self-described Victoria's Secret fan on the forum site Fashin

"I think Karlie is kind of a modest sexy but I don't think her current librarian hair is really doing her any favors," another shopper wrote on the forum. "She clearly sticks out like a sore thumb next to these more bombshell types."

Kloss originally cut her hair for a Vogue photo shoot.

Victoria's Secret hasn't featured short-haired models in the past, and featuring Kloss's short hairstyle is a bold move.

The retailer was so desperate to give Kloss the appearance of long hair at its fashion show that it reportedly spent $75,000 on expensive extensions.

Victoria's Secret probably felt emboldened by the popularity of Kloss's cut, and decided to feature her shorter hair in the campaign.

Kloss told People magazine she hopes her haircut makes other women more confident.

"There are girls out there with every body type and there are girls out there with every hair type," Kloss said. "You can be sexy with short hair!"

What To Bring If You're Camping Out At Coachella

$

coachella

If you bought a car camping pass to Coachella, congratulations. For $85 more, you purchased twice the festival as the hotel heathens.

They’ll be spending their mornings desperately looking for a taxi wait under two hours and wondering why they didn’t get a hotel closer to a shuttle line. You’ll be spending yours deciding between the slip-n-slide and the mini-carnival.

But that kind of freedom comes hard-earned, and there’s a lot of planning to do before you go if you want to have the kind of kickass campsite worthy of the modern-day Woodstock.

First thing’s first: Know who you’re camping with. That way, you can split up who brings what and save some money because, let’s face it, Coachella ain’t cheap. Each camping spot is 10′x30′, and you can pack a fair amount of people in there. For a better solution, have multiple people with their own car camping passes in your group. You only need one per space, so getting a second one doubles the number of people you can camp with, not to mention doubling the room to set up your dream campsite.

If you have multiple campsites, you’ll have to caravan down to Indio to ensure you drive in right next to each other. Otherwise, there’s no guarantee you’ll get spots next to each other. If you’re not leaving together or it’s a longer drive, set a meeting point at a grocery store near the grounds to reconvene. You can also stock up on supplies there. Some things to pick up:

  1. Fruit and vegetables, and lots of them. Nothing like eating healthy to stave off the guilt for the drugs you’re doing.
  2. More specifically, avocados. They’re a super food, they turn into bowls when you finish them, and you can play mini croquet with the pits.
  3. Goldfish, jerky, and other salty foods. That water retention will be worth the puffy face.
  4. Gatorade. Bring water if you want (it’s readily available all over the grounds), but Gatorade and Gatorade powder will do a lot to help your electrolytes. Coachella is as hard on your body as any sporting event.
  5. Booze. Cases of beer are fine, but if you get liquor, make sure you either put them in plastic or hide them well. No glass allowed in the lot.

If you’re bringing a camping stove (propane only on the grounds), you can also pick up stuff like pancake mix, eggs, maybe even some steak. It’s a little extra work, but there’s nothing like coming back to the campsite after a long day and having a full, home-cooked meal. Share with the neighbors, and they’ll hit you back. If you run out of food, there’s an on-site store with some options, and a shuttle that’ll take you to the grocery store in the mornings.

Once you arrive, you’ll appreciate having that case of beer. The security line is just one big tailgating party. Guards are tearing apart entire cars, in some cases taking off paneling to check inside (so make sure you hide your stash well), which takes a little bit of time. Get out of your car and meet some people, and pray you chose the line with the lazy volunteer who’s not being paid enough to care.

You should fill up your gas tank again before you go into the grounds, since you never know when you’ll need to run your car and you can’t leave once you’re there. The campground opens at 9am the day before the festival. If you’ve done everything right so far (and if you’ve read to here, you should) and you’ve arrived early enough, you’ll get a prime spot close enough to the festival to avoid too much walking, but far enough away from the gates that you avoid the casual looters and the crowds of the main pathways.

Set up your camp however you’d like. I’m not an architect. Really though, go crazy guys. Make your camp recognizable. Put up strings of lights and inflatable toys — this will look cool as shit, but it’ll also make camp easier to find, especially in the dark when you’re stumbling back with a ringing in your ears. Also, stake down your tents and canopies! If the weather acts up like it did in 2012, it’ll be more than the answers blowing in the wind.

Ideally, you’ve brought car paint to decorate your ride. Write “Carpoolchella” in a visible spot in the best design you can come up with, because officials wander the grounds looking for that specific word. If they like your style, you have the chance to win free VIP tickets for life. What have you got to lose? Make sure you only draw on the windows though, as car paint can fuck with the actual paint job.

Inside the campground there are lots of shower trucks, but lines can get insanely long in the mornings. Shower in the evenings if you’re willing to miss a set. Alternatively, bring a Sun Shower, a little bag of water you can hang in your campsite. Or there’s always baby wipes and dry shampoo.

Once you’ve got everything set up and you know where everything is, you’re on your own. Goldenvoice loves to keep people guessing when it comes to their plans. One minute you can be riding a little carnival in a back corner of the lot, the next you can be rocking out at a silent disco. Don’t get too caught up in what you think you should be doing. Follow your nose. And when your non-camping friends arrive, try not to rub in how much better your morning has been than theirs. But hey, don’t be afraid to rub it in a little.

Your packing list, from someone who cares:

To live

  1. Tent – Duh. If you’ve got a big car, you could sleep in the back, but then you have to decide between privacy and airflow. Coachella is hot and sexual enough as it is without choosing between one or the other.
  2. Canopy – It’s like a tent you shouldn’t be naked in, but that’s okay. Great for shading the rest of your camp.
  3. Tarps – You can use them on the side of the canopy to make shade, or to block off the windows in your car to cool them down.
  4. Folding chairs – Sit on these. Or just look at them. I don’t care.
  5. Folding table – They’re not just for beer pong anymore. Although they are also for beer pong.
  6. Camping stove – You don’t necessarily need it, but nothing beats a hot, home-cooked meal after destroying your body all day. Propane only allowed.
  7. Pot and skillet – For use on the stove.
  8. Plates and utensils – Disposable is best.
  9. Cooler and dry ice – For keeping your food and drinks.
  10. Air mattress with battery-powered inflator – You’ll be so tired you could sleep on broken glass by the end of the day, but glass isn’t allowed in the campground, so this will have to do.
  11. Sleeping bag or blankets – It doesn’t get too cold at night, but it’s nice to have in case.
  12. Pillow – Unless you’re that hardcore.
  13. Battery packs – Your phone is going to die. If you don’t want to run your car to charge it, this will be a good alternative.
  14. Jumper cables – Just in case. Stick around Monday morning and count the number of people who need them, then come back here so I can say I told you so.
  15. Fan – It’s nice to have. Combine with a mister to beat the heat.
  16. Wet wipes – They’re a godsend replacement for toilet paper in the desert environment, and can be used as a shower if the lines are too long.
  17. Saline nose solution – For getting rid of that giant dusty booger you don’t want to pick in front of your neighbors.
  18. Sunscreen – It’s the desert. I hear it’s sunny there.
  19. Toothbrush/toothpaste – For your mouth, yo.
  20. Ibuprofen – Your body will hurt. It doesn’t have to.
  21. Baby powder – If you’re a heavy sweater, this stuff will keep the chafing at bay.
  22. Earplugs – I don’t care if you’re up until 5 in the morning. There will be somebody with a sound system up until 6.
  23. Spare keys – Your friends might need them. You might need them.
  24. Duct tape – For when everything goes to shit.
  25. Trash bags – Don’t be that guy.

To enjoy living

  1. El-wire strings – Good for lighting up your campsite to make it easier to find, and to make it cool as fuck. Get the battery-powered kind to make it nice and portable, since you might want to bring some into the grounds to make yourself easy to find as well.
  2. Inflatable toys – Mostly just for fun, but if you bring one into the grounds, it can be your totem so your friends can find you.
  3. Inflatable pool – The least necessary. The most fun.
  4. Flag – If you can set one up, it’s a good way to identify your campsite.
  5. Body paint – A fun way to get ready for the day.
  6. Car paint – To win that Carpoolchella award.
  7. Cards – King’s Cup is a great way to pass some time.
  8. Speakers – Drown out the tinnitus when you get back at night with a little more music.
  9. Camera – You can’t bring a DSLR into the festival itself, but you can take some sweet pictures of yourself going down the slip-n-slide next door.
  10. Condoms – Better safe than sorry, ya know?

For the festival

  1. Phone – It doesn’t work half the time, but it’s your phone. Just in case.
  2. Canvas shoes – It’s nice to go barefoot during the day, but you’ll need arch support eventually, and flip flops won’t provide the protection when you’re in the middle of the Sahara Tent.
  3. Light clothing – Somehow, flowing clothes keep you cooler than none at all.
  4. Small sweatshirt – It can get chilly at night, especially when you’re not in the crowds.
  5. Money clip – You don’t want to bring a whole wallet that can get lost. Some cash and your ID. That’s it. You won’t need that skydiving coupon or your dental insurance.
  6. Sunglasses – It’s bright.
  7. Hat – It’s nice, but if you used sufficient sunscreen it might not be necessary.
  8. Lighter – Even if you’re not smoking, it’s nice to have one to lend to people.

Shain Gandee Buckwild MTV

  • MTV has canceled reality show "Buckwild" — known as  “the Jersey Shore Of Appalachia” — just over a week after the sudden death of the cast member Shain GandeeDespite having enough footage for several new episodes, MTV executives couldn’t see anyway to continue with the series without Gandee.
  • Tom Cruise is opening up (a bit) for the first time since his divorce from Katie HolmesIn a sit-down with German TV network ProSieben, the actor simply says "I did not expect that." He added, "Life is a challenge," admitted the thesp. "To be 50 and have experiences and think you have everything under control, and then it hits you—that's what life is…Life is tragicomic. You need a certain sense of humor."
  • Jim Carrey is reuniting with his "Ace Ventura" director Steve Oedekerk for "Ricky Stanicky" — "an ensemble comedy in the vein of The Hangover, and begins when three teens pull a prank and burn down a house in their neighborhood." The kids create a fake person to pin the arson on — Ricky Stanicky — and are forced as adults to hire a washed-up actor to temporarily bring Stanicky to life. Carrey is Stanicky.

How To Get Celebrities To Notice You On Twitter

$
0
0

justin bieberEllie Brightmore doesn't exactly study art in school. In her words, the 14-year-old British Vampire Diaries fan is mostly a "self taught" artist.

But a few weeks ago, her art found a very influential fan in Ian Somerhalder, the star of the show that sits at the center of Ellie's online universe.

Ellie's Twitter handle, @ellie_salvatore, is an obvious nod to Vampire Diaries' central brothers, Damon and Stefan Salvatore, both of whom she's likely stared at long enough that drawing them wouldn't seem like much of a leap. She just didn't expect that when she posted her drawing of Somerhalder as Damon Salvatore on Twitter, he'd really take notice.

After all, getting Tweeted by the actor didn't have anything to do with her reasons for drawing him. Ellie told us via email, "I decided to draw Ian because he's my favorite actor, and I think he's absolutely beautiful inside, and out! I love him so much!"

But he did notice when Ellie posted the picture, with the message, "I drew a picture of you. I hope you like it!" He posted his response soon after: a four second video in which he says, "I don't like it. I love it." That four second video brought Ellie about 400 new followers and 100 @ tweets in one day. In her words, "It was insane!"

Obviously not all fan art gets a direct reply from someone as high profile as Somerhalder, but Ellie's experience sheds some light on how to get a celebrity to tweet at you, even if it was all sort of an accident. So here are some of the basics on how to get famous users to notice you on Twitter.

1. Choose the Right Celeb

Right away if someone has gone for months without tweeting, rarely tweets @ anyone, or follows fewer than 100 people, it's unlikely they're going to interact with their fans. Look for obvious signs of fan engagement. The more interaction the better. Justin Bieber, for instance, goes on Twitter sprees that are packed with fan retweets and replies. While few celebs reach his level of engagement, others like Kristen BellOlivia Wilde, and Jimmy Fallonregularly look for fans to interact with.

2. Be Funny and Interesting

That's easier said than done, right? But famous tweeters consistently say they won't retweet the many thousands of fans who simply ask for an "RT." Shaquille O'Neal, whose Twitter has crossed over into non-sports fans, pointed out to the Daily Mail that with millions of followers, there's no chance he can get to all his fans. But he does tend to reply to 20 or 30 of them in 10 minute chunks. "Especially if they say something funny. A lot of people think they can say anything. I just ignore that." He adds that he's looking for "whoever’s funny," when he's on Twitter.

3. Look for What They're Interested In

Read a person's Twitter to get to know his or her personality first. Do love pictures of sloths? (Like Kristen Bell.) Do they favor certain hashtags? (Mindy Kaling played along with #fakesxsw and sometimes retweets people tweeting about#TheMindyProject.) Or are they vocal supporters of certain causes? Ian Somerhalder, for instance, is big on animals. He created theIan Somerhalder Foundation as an extension of his charitable work, and often tweets about helping no kill animal shelters, fighting animal cruelty, and sterilizing pets. It doesn't take long on his Twitter to see that he's a very big animal lover.

It's like getting to know a new friend. If Taylor Swift was actually your friend in real life, what would you IM her? Probably pictures of cats and tiny pianos. So if you've got a kitten, dress him up in a sweater vest, and tweet that picture at her. (Bonus Tip: Her lucky number is 13, so if you can work that into the photo somehow, all the better.) If you volunteer at a no kill animal shelter, tweet info about it to Ian Somerhalder, and if you live in Costa Rica take as many sloth pictures as possible for Kristen Bell.

4. Timing Is Everything

A lot of people tweet at celebrities, so their @ pages are basically endless scrolls where your messages are buried within hours if not minutes. So keep a sharp eye on your chosen celeb's feed. If you can quote tweet them or tweet @ them within a couple of minutes of them getting online and writing their first post, then you stand a much higher chance of being noticed.

5. And Lastly, Show Some Respect

Just like you wouldn't annoy a personal friend by bombarding them with IMs, it's a bad idea to constantly send requests for an "RT" to your favorite celeb. At best it makes a tweeter look desperate, and at worst it makes them look like a spammer. It's okay to tweet at them often, but keep the messages interesting and engaging. And while you're showing respect to those famous actors, musicians, and models, show the same respect to your fellow fans.

"On Twitter, a fan should NEVER be disrespectful towards anyone," Ellie, who says she follows about 20 verified accounts, told us. "If their favorite celebrities or followers ever witnessed this, they probably wouldn't tweet them. Also, if I were them, I wouldn't be too clingy with the tweets, just act cool."

After all, it worked for her.

David Letterman Asks Lindsay Lohan If She's An Addict

lindsay lohan on david letterman

Lindsay Lohan appeared in a much-hyped interview last night on "The Late Show with David Letterman" and it was ... awkward.

The interview was her first since appearance last November on "The Tonight Show."

The actress was there to discuss her upcoming role in "Scary Movie 5"; however, from the start, Letterman tried to press Lohan on questions regarding rehab, alcohol, and Charlie Sheen

The result was pretty awkward.

Lohan acknowledged the questions Letterman began asking weren't discussed pre-interview.

The actress played ball at first, saying she's heading to rehab May 2, and not considering it a bad thing.

"I think this is an opportunity for me to, you know, focus on what I love in life.," said Lohan. "I don't think it's a bad thing. I think it's a blessing."

Afterward, she didn't say much on the topic, and when she did, it was to zing the host.

Lohan accused Letterman of attempting to take on a "Dr. Phil" role after asking if she had addiction problems.

In the end, it appeared as if Lohan was running the show and Letterman was just along for the ride.

The actress took Letterman's list of notes and topics to discuss and had to tell him to talk about more positive things, like her upcoming film role.

Watch a clip from the interview below:

The entire interview is available on CBS.com starting at 15:00.

Alec Baldwin In Talks To Host NBC Late-Night Show

$

Alec Baldwin Steve Martin Saturday Night Live SNL

An NBC executive who prefers to remain anonymous has tipped off The New York Times' Bill Carter that Alec Baldwin's name is the latest to enter the late-night ring.

While talks are still in "initial stages," reports The Times, "The most likely landing place for a show hosted by Mr. Baldwin would be in the latest of NBC’s entries, the show now called 'Last Call'" currently hosted by Carson Daly.

But as of next February, NBC's late night line up will be seeing a lot of changes: Leno is out, Fallon is taking his time slot and moving the "Tonight Show" to New York, someone yet to be determined will take over for Fallon, and it sounds like this year may actually be Carson Daly's "Last Call."

"The mutual interest between Mr. Baldwin and NBC about opening a late-night spot for the actor could result in three new late-night hosts for NBC," confirms The Times.

And with "30 Rock" ending last season, the timing could be just right for Baldwin.

"Baldwin, who wrapped up his seven-season run on NBC's '30 Rock' in January, still has ties with the network," reports The Wrap. "The actor signed a two-year overall deal with Universal Television, the studio arm of NBC Universal that produced '30 Rock,' late last year."

And Baldwin has long been an NBC favorite.

The 55-year-old funny man has won two Emmys for playing Jack Donaghy on "30 Rock" and has hosted "Saturday Night Live" 16 times — more than any other person.

Being a favorite of "SNL" and "Late Night" executive producer, Lorne Michaels, doesn't hurt Baldwin's chances of getting the gig, either.

The Times notes Baldwin is "regarded one of the best guests on late-night television shows" and "has won critical praise for a podcast series he created with WNYC radio in New York, called 'Here’s The Thing.'

On his half-hour podcast that takes place outside of a typical studio and in remote locations such as famous people's homes, Baldwin has interviewed everyone from David Letterman to Lena Dunham.

A source tells The Wrap that "Baldwin has been considered for such opportunities, due to the positive response to his 'Here's the Thing' radio podcast."

Earth Is In Ruins In The First 'Elysium' Trailer

matt damon elysium

Sony Pictures released the first trailer for its summer film "Elysium" and it looks awesome.

The film takes place in the year 2154 where there are two classes of people.

The wealthy live on Elysium where there isn't any poverty, people can cure cancer, and war is a thing of the past.

The word Elysium itself means paradise. It's also the name of a region of Mars.

Overall, it sounds like a dream world, or Aldous Huxley's 1931 "Brave New World."

Then, there's Matt Damon's character, Max, who lives on overpopulated, barren Earth.

Despite anti-immigration laws against heading to Elysium, Max undertakes a mission to get there to save Earth.

The film is directed by Neil Blomkamp who brought us 2009's "District 9" and stars Damon, Jodie Foster, Sharito Copley, and William Fichtner.

The film comes to theaters August 9.

If the trailer isn't enough, Sony has also launched a few websites for the film.

ItsBetterUpThere.com is the main site and leads to three more.

There's one for the Civil Cooperation Bureau an enforcement team on Earth, a site advertising homes on Elysium, and a third on a fictional company, Armadyne, which oversees Elysium.

Here's the first poster for the film as well.

'Buckwild' Producer Livid Over MTV Canceling Show: 'This Will Get Ugly'

$

MTV "Buckwild"

On Tuesday, MTVannounced it is canceling reality show "Buckwild" following the death of the show's 21-year-old star, Shain Gandee.

And now the show's producer J.P. Williams, who also manages eight cast members including Gandee, is livid with the network, telling The Hollywood Reporter:

"This is the network that has shows about teen pregnancy. They'll stick by a show that allows you to abandon a child, but a kid dies by accident doing what he does for a living [mudding] and they cancel the show? There's something that smells of s--- here on every level."

While cameras were not following Gandee at the time of his death nine days ago when he was found dead of accidental carbon monoxide poisoning in his truck, the show — known as  “the Jersey Shore Of Appalachia” — was midway through filming on the second season.

According to Williams, he was informed Friday that MTV would be moving forward with the series after a temporary pause in production following Gandee's death.

"At that time, the network had four episodes in the can and was planning to shoot four more plus a special dedicated to Gandee to kick off the season," according to THR.

But Williams says that MTV brass followed up with him on Tuesday, saying the network had instead opted to cancel the series.

"Buckwild" had previously been renewed for a second season in February after garnering 2.49 million viewers in its premiere episode in January — over a million viewers more than the 1.375 million who watched the premiere of "Jersey Shore" in 2009.

“There was no explanation,” Williams stated furiously, adding that the "Buckwild" cast had planned to travel to Los Angeles this weekend to attend Sunday's MTV Movie Awards.

While MTV may be cutting ties with "Buckwild," Williams says he will continue shooting the show, even if that means he will have to finance it himself.

My job is to protect these kids,” he tells THR, adding: “This will get ugly.”

Meanwhile, MTV just released a statement of their own, explaining, "given Shain’s tragic passing and essential presence on the show, we felt it was not appropriate to continue without him."

Read the network's full statement below (via Deadline):

After careful consideration, MTV will not be moving forward with season two of “BUCKWILD” in WestVirginia. We love the cast and the show and this was not an easy decision, but given Shain’s tragic passing and essential presence on the show, we felt it was not appropriate to continue without him. Instead, we are working on a meaningful way to pay tribute to his memory on our air and privately.

On Sunday, we will be running a special “BUCKWILD: WV to the NYC,” which was shot before production had begun on season two. With the support of his parents, Dale and Loretta Gandee, we will run the tribute following a day of programming dedicated to Shain in which we will air the entire first season of “BUCKWILD”.

“Thanks to everyone for their thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time for our family. We have truly felt all the love and know that Shain is resting peacefully. Shain was an incredible, outgoing, and positive person who was loved by whoever he met. We are honored that we were able to let the world see what a wonderful son we had. He was the best son anyone could ask for. As we look to honor him in our lives every day moving forward, we are happy to share some of his last moments doing what he loved best: having fun and making people laugh,” said Loretta Gandee

REPORT: Victoria's Secret Angel Miranda Kerr Is Out

MIranda Kerr

Miranda Kerr, one of Victoria's Secret's most prominent Angels, might be stripped of her title as the brand makes way for new faces.

Kerr, the wife of actor Orlando Bloom, had a "difficult" reputation and wasn't a big seller like Alessandra Ambrosio and Candice Swanepoel, according to a report by Joyce Chen at UsWeekly.

Her $1 million, 3-year contract was not renewed, multiple sources told Chen.

Speculation that Kerr, 30, could be on her way out started in November, when the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show featured a segment highlighting the 25-year-old Swanepoel.

While Kerr is still young and beautiful, 30 is retiring age for many models.

Executives from Victoria's Secret wouldn't confirm or deny Chen's report, but one executive told Chen that Kerr would still walk in the annual Fashion Show.

Victoria's Secret hires about 10 models to act as "Angels" that represent the brand. The spots are coveted because they offer unprecedented exposure in the industry.

Past Angels have included Gisele Bundchen, Tyra Banks, and Heidi Klum

Karlie Kloss was also just added to the roster.

Walt Disney Studios announced that it is laying off staff to streamline operations.

“As part of an ongoing review to ensure that the Studios’ operational structure and economics align with the demands of the current marketplace, we have made the difficult decision to reduce our staffing levels in several divisions of the Studio," a studio spokesman said in a statement to TheWrap, confirming recent reports of layoffs.

It did not provide a number of employees losing their jobs.

The cuts will be across Disney's studio and consumer products divisions, according to multiple media reports. The layoffs are already underway, according to an individual with knowledge of the situation.

Reuters, which first broke the news, reported the cutbacks were being initiated as part of an internal audit that was ordered last year by Disney CEO and Chairman Bob Iger to streamline various departments. The hope is that Disney will emerge better able to meet the demands of more digital forms of distribution.

It is also an acknowledgment that as the studio produces fewer films and relies more on the output from its Marvel, Lucasfilm and Pixar arms, there is less of a need to maintain the same staffing levels.

Wall Street has been bullish on Disney of late, with the stocking shattering all-time highs this week. It was trading at $59.82, up 1.17 percent, as of mid-day Thursday.

Beyoncé Might Have A $50 Million Pepsi Deal, But She Wants You Drinking Budweiser Too

Beyonce Crazy In LoveEven though Beyoncé signed a $50 million deal with PepsiCo to be its official brand ambassador, the singer is peddling other beverages too. Specifically: She wants you to drink Budweiser.

She's headlining "Budweiser Made in America," a two-day concert held in Philadelphia over Labor Day weekend with bands including Nine Inch Nails, Deadmau5, Calvin Harris, and Public Enemy.

Considering that her husband Jay-Z was named co-brand director of Budweiser in 2006 — Forbes called it a "strikingly similar partnership" to Beyoncé's with Pepsi— and helms the "Made in America" concert series, it makes sense that the singer is a major part of the show.

And she isn't really cheating on Pepsi.

In fact, an internal memo from Pepsi detailed cross-promotion plans with Budweiser throughout 2013.

Ad Age explains:

In an internal memo sent by A-B InBev to distributors that was obtained by Ad Age, the brewer refers to the program as a "National Big Bet." The memo also shows a "save up to $8" coupon next to images of Bud Light, Doritos and Pepsi (with a mail-in rebate). "We have always worked with cross-merchandising partners in the past, but for 2013...all three [brands -- Doritos, Pepsi and Bud Light] are trying to work together to have flawless execution at retail," an A-B InBev distributor told Ad Age. He noted that the arrangement requires coordination between three sales and delivery teams.

So really Beyoncé is just solidifying her fighting role in the war against Coke. And getting paid a ton to do so.

Word is that a "Breaking Bad" spinoff series is in the works.

After the AMC show ends its five-season run this summer, Sony television is considering extending the franchise with a series revolving around shady lawyer Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk), according to Deadline.

The series is reported to be developed by "Breaking Bad" creator Vince Gilligan.

Odenkirk has been a regular on the series about a teacher-turned-meth-cook since season two, best known for his catchy tagline, "Better Call Saul!"

The spinoff isn't a new concept.

Gilligan mentioned the idea last summer during an interview.

AMC will begin to air the final eight episodes of "Breaking Bad" this summer. No official release date for the series has been released yet.

It's possible that Kerr, 30, simply became too hot for Victoria's Secret. The brand goes out of its way to hire models whom its customers can relate to, and the stunning wife of actor Orlando Bloom might not fit the bill.

In short, Kerr is so hot that female customers are threatened by her.

Kerr's "difficult reputation" made the brand hesitant to keep her on board as one of its ten Angels, according to the report. It's also rumored that she didn't sell as much lingerie as other big names at the company.

Miranda Kerr has been modeling since she was 13, appearing in television advertisements. Her most prolific campaign before Victoria's Secret was for Maybelline Cosmetics.

In 2007, she signed a contract with Victoria's Secret to replace Gisele Bundchen as an Angel.

She also began dating her now-husband, actor Orlando Bloom. The two have a child, Flynn, together.

Chinese Censors Halt First Screening Of 'Django Unchained' Literally One Minute After Movie Starts

Chinese authorities have cancelled screenings of Django Unchained on the morning of its release, despite weeks of publicity for the blockbuster spaghetti western.

Media authorities claimed the Quentin Tarantino film, scheduled for release on Thursday, had been postponed for "technical reasons", but unofficial news websites reported that the real reason was a scene showing full-frontal male nudity.

"Django screenings have been postponed and we can't guarantee when they will be resumed," said a woman at the Sanlitun Megabox theatre in Beijing.

According to a widely circulated post on the Sina Weibo social media site, the cinema's first showing of the film had been under way for about one minute when management pulled the plug.

"After watching it for about a minute, it stopped!" said microblogger Xue Yi Dao. "Staff then came in and said [film censors] … had called to say it had to be delayed!! Can someone tell me what's happening!!"

The government-owned Shanghai United Circuit issued an emergency notice requiring the city's cinemas to halt screenings of the film and grant refunds to ticketholders, according to an article on the Sohu website.

Another site, Sina, cited an industry insider as saying the postponement was related to a nude scene featuring the film's lead actor, Jaime Foxx.

Tarantino, Django Unchained's director, had already reined in the movie's gore for the Chinese market, retouching footage to tone down the colour and bloodshed.

"What we call bloodshed and violence is just a means of serving the purpose of the film, and these slight adjustments will not affect the basic quality of the film," the director of Sony Pictures' China branch, Zhang Miao, told the Southern Metropolis Daily newspaper.

Django Unchained is Tarantino's first film to be released in China, where cultural authorities restrict the number of foreign films in cinemas each year.

Despite the edits, Django Unchained was set to run for its full 165 minutes. In contrast, the Chinese release of Skyfall lost an entire scene in which James Bond kills a security guard in Shanghai. Meanwhile, censors reduced Cloud Atlas by nearly 40 minutes, primarily because of its graphic sex scenes.

Many online commenters were perplexed by the cancellations because the film had passed China's notoriously opaque pre-screening censorship process. Censors' "cutting hands are fiercer than that of a slaveowner, insistent on making Django a eunuch", wrote one, according to Agence France Presse.

Bootleg DVD stores across the country have reportedly been selling an uncut version of the film for weeks.

Hollywood studios are usually willing to comply with China's censorship regulations as they vie for access to the country's rapidly growing film market. In recent months, the infamously cash-strapped MGM Studios digitally altered a remake of the cold war thriller Red Dawn to turn its Chinese villains into North Koreans.

Revenue at China's cinemas has grown tenfold over the past decade, with about 10 screens opening in the country every day.

Justin Bieber Is Only Half As Popular As He Seems On Twitter

Justin Bieber concertJustin Bieber's title as "King of Twitter" has been brought into question after it was revealed almost half of his followers could be fake.

In a report carried out by social media statistics company, SocialBakers, an estimated 16.7m of the singer's 37m strong Twitter fan base was said to be composed of fake or empty accounts, with another 2.6m being inactive.

The research demotes Bieber, 19, to second place after Lady Gaga in the rankings of highest number of Twitter followers.

He overtook the singer earlier this year but the new statistics suggest the passing of the crown could have been premature.

Lady Gaga, although having more "good" followers than Bieber, is still thought to have over 15m bogus fans herself.

The report classified followers as either "good", "fake" or "inactive" by picking out those accounts that had fewer than a certain number of followers and who themselves followed a low number of users.

Certain words and phrases often used by spam accounts, such 'diet' and 'work from home', were also analysed.

Bieber's relationship with his fans and the media has taken a turn for the worse lately.

Last month he was booed by his audience after turning up to perform at the London O2 Arena nearly two hours late.

He has also since been seen arguing with members of the press and has posted online tirades against his critics.

The Truth About Whether Justin Bieber Affects The Price Of Tweets On Twitter

$

Justin Bieber Monkey

An interesting rumor came into the Business Insider office the other day: Justin Bieber has so many followers on Twitter— more than 37 million — that a single tweet by the singer can change the price of promoted tweets for advertisers.

The logic of the rumor is that if Bieber tweets a word like "cologne," as he did the other day in reference to the European city he was visiting, then the sheer volume of retweets from his fans could move the price of the word "cologne" for advertisers trying to target "cologne" as a keyword for either fragrance shoppers or tourists interested in visiting the city.

An increase in the number of retweets is an increase in the supply of keyword inventory (in this case for "cologne"). Generally, an increase in supply should move the bid price for the word down, because the demand from advertisers wanting to buy "cologne" should stay the same. It's supply v. demand: Greater supply = cheaper prices.

Twitter has 500 million users, but 40 percent of those never tweet. So the active population is ~300 million. Bieber's audience — his inventory, if you will — is more than 1 percent of the entire active market.

His cologne tweet was retweeted 47,000 times. And that's a low count for Bieber.

To test the rumor, we turned to TBG Digital, one of Twitter's partners for its Ads API (the interface that delivers ads en masse into the twittersphere). We allowed TBG to run a small campaign on our behalf targeting followers of Bieber and Rihanna, who has 29 million followers. We wanted to see if there was a difference between the price of targeting Bieber's fans vs. Rihanna's fans vs. non-celebrity material.

Here are the results:

Cost per engagement for targeting celebrity followers with a promoted tweet:

  • Bieber:  $0.51
  • Rihanna: $0.51

Cost per engagement (retweets, etc.) when targeting celebrity hashtags v. trending hashtags v. non-trending hashtags:

  • Celebrity: $1.23
  • Trending: $1.27
  • Non-Trending: $1.26

Cost per acquisition of new followers who also follow Bieber or Rihanna:

  • Bieber followers:  $3.22
  • Rhianna followers: $3.35

Our results:

  • Impressions: 568,950
  • Engagements: 6,316
  • Increased follows: 274

The folks at TBG tell us that overall, there was no significant price difference between Bieber, Rihanna, or non-trending hashtags. While Rihanna fans are a little more expensive to acquire as followers than Bieber fans, it's a wash in the grand scheme of things. (We are, however, enormously grateful for our 274 new readers of @TBITheWire.)

The BIG caveat here is that our test was small, as was our sample size, so our evidence is merely anecdotal. (The campaign did not target "cologne," by the way.)

Nonetheless, it seems to put to rest — at least for now — the idea that any single Twitter celebrity can get so big as to screw with the ad budgets of clients buying on the platform.

Sharon Stone Sues A Filipino Nanny Who Called Her A Racist

Sharon Stone

Sharon Stone has counter-sued her Filipina former nanny, who is pursuing the US actress for wrongful dismissal and harassment including racist abuse, new court documents show.

In a breach-of-loan-agreement action filed in Los Angeles Superior Court this week, the "Basic Instinct" star says Erlinda Elemen owes $9,500 of a $12,500 loan she made to her in 2010.

Elemen, who worked as a live-in nanny for Stone until she was sacked in 2011, repaid $3,000 between August 2010 and January 2011, but then stopped repayments to the 55-year-old actress.

Her lawyers announced last year that she was suing the actress. A judge has ruled that the former nanny had provided enough evidence to support her charges of harassment, failure to prevent harassment, retaliation and wrongful dismissal.

Stone's lawyers sought to have the case -- which has a tentative trial date of July 30 -- dismissed, arguing that comments by the actress did not amount to harassment.

"All we have is that Ms Stone made comments about Filipino food, Filipino accents," said lawyer Daniel Gutenplan.

When the lawsuit was announced in May, the actress's publicist slammed the legal action as "absurd", claiming the ex-nanny was simply trying to "cash in" on Stone.

The lawsuit claimed the star equated being Filipino with being stupid, and ordered her not to speak in front of her children so they would not "talk like you."

Stone also banned Elemen from reading the Bible in the actress's home, even though the live-in nanny looked after the actress's three children and frequently traveled with them.

Elemen, who was hired in October 2006 and was promoted to head live-in nanny two years later, was dismissed in February 2011, after Stone learned she was paid overtime when traveling with the children and on holidays.

In 2011, the actress was ordered to pay $232,000 in compensation to a worker who injured his knee after slipping and falling in her backyard in 2006.
