Khloe Kardashian Slams Media Over Reports Of Lamar Odom's Mishandled Charity Funds

Khloe Kardashian Lamar Odom

Khloe Kardashian is fighting back at allegations of misconduct by her husband Lamar Odom’s charity, Cathy’s Kids.

On Sunday, ESPN show "Outside the Lines" accused the Clippers player and reality TV star of misusing funds raised by the organization, and failing to give money to cancer causes as promised in its mission statement.

The charity was started in 2004 and named after Odom’s mom, who died from stomach cancer, but the sports network claims it was more than $250,000 in debt as of 2011.

During the "Outside the Lines" report, Odom mysteriously stated "It's my money," and now Kardashian is trying to clear up his comment by revealing her husband personally contributed "more than 90% of the money raised by the foundation."

Kardashian took to her blog Tuesday to defend her man and his charity. Read her explanation below:

Lamar’s Work With Cathy’s Kids

It is unfortunate that my husband has been the target of an attack on athletes’ charities, although he has personally contributed approximately $2.2 million to his foundation, Cathy’s Kids, to fulfill its charitable purposes that include helping underprivileged inner-city youth.

The millions of dollars personally contributed by Lamar constituted more than 90% of the money raised by the foundation. All of the funds donated by Lamar and the other contributions to Cathy’s Kids were used for one of the foundation’s intended charitable purposes. Not one penny went to help Lamar personally or any member of his family. No charitable funds were misused, and the IRS has repeatedly given Cathy’s Kids a clean bill of health, confirming that there were no improprieties.

Cathy’s Kids was formed with several purposes in mind, including Benefitting underprivileged youth and cancer research. A decision was ultimately made that the charity should focus on one of those purposes — to help enrich the lives of underprivileged inner-city youth. It accomplished that goal. Cathy’s Kids helped fund multiple AAU basketball teams providing underprivileged youth with opportunities enriching their lives, providing financial support for coaching and travel to tournaments, helping inner-city youth on a path toward success and leading many participants to go on to college.

Fans are used to seeing "The Walking Dead" crew solemn, serious, and killing zombies, so seeing them out of character, rocking out and playing around on set is a surprising treat.

Following the series finale of the AMC series Sunday night, actress Laurie Holden, who plays Andrea, tweeted out the following image with the cast from the show.

The set looks like a blast to work on.

Unless you get to see the cast at a live panel, it's pretty rare for a fan to see them all together on and off set.

Here's a bigger look at the image:

HARRY POTTER SECRETS REVEALED: I Just Took The Amazing Studio Tour!

$

Harry Potter Hogwarts room

The hottest new attraction in the United Kingdom these days is not a royal palace or some rocks in a field.

It's the studio in Leavesden where Warner Bros. spent ten years making the Harry Potter movies.

A converted factory that was once used to make planes in World War II, Leavesden is still a working studio. But a big portion of it has been transformed into a gigantic show-and-tell Harry Potter sound stage exhibit.

About 5,000 people a day make the trek to Leavesden, which is a half-hour northwest of London. They pay about $30 apiece to get in.

That means that Warner is coining ~$50 million a year from Harry Potter studio tours from ticket prices alone.

(And you're not going to leave with just a ticket — believe me.)

My family is way into Harry Potter, and we were in London last week. So, of course, we went.

It was awesome.

The tour starts with a shuttle bus that picks you up at the Watford Junction train station. The one that picked us up came roaring in so fast it almost ran over my daughter. (Phew!)

Every train that comes to Watford is full of Harry Potter fans. They come from everywhere — even New Zealand. Some have scars painted on their foreheads and round glasses on their heads.

Warner Bros takes the opportunity to show you some upcoming movie trailers on the bus, of course. But in 20 minutes, you're there.

Jon Hamm Don Draper Mad Men

Last year, we told you about the real brands that have appeared in Mad Men and the fake ads that the staff of Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce have created for them over the years.

Since then, a whole new bunch of clients have come and gone at Don Draper's agency.

So in advance of the premiere of Mad Men Season 6 on AMC this Sunday, we have once again trawled the agency's archives to compare the fake ads of Sterling Cooper vs. the ones that actually ran back in the 1960s.

Those clients include Playtex, Mohawk Airlines, American Airlines and Samsonite luggage.

Turns out the fictional ads are vastly different from the real ones — and that Sterling Cooper's are often better. Hindsight is 20/20, of course ...

Sterling Cooper's Belle Jolie lipstick ad from Season 5 ...

Belle Jolie was one of few made-up brands on the show. In reality, cosmetics companies had been using photos instead of drawings in their ads for years. This one was from 1963.

RetailMeNot Picked An Unlikely TV Star To Blog About Saving Money

$

jennie garth

She may have spent more than a decade playing coveted teen socialite Kelly on Beverly Hills 90210, but Jennie Garth, now 41 and a single mom of three, is clearly ready to embrace her frugal side.

Garth has signed on as a celebrity blogger for coupon site RetailMeNot.com's digital magazine, The Real Deal.

"As a newly single mom of three, I’m trying to juggle everything: my kids, my career and, if I’m lucky, some sort of personal life," she wrote in her debut post. "Every minute is precious, and now more than ever, every dollar I bring home, or manage to save, means more safety and security for my family and our future."

Garth has been a star on the small screen since the 80s and spent a decade married to Twilight star Peter Facinelli, whom she divorced last year. She was recently featured as a contestant on Dancing With the Stars and nabbed her own reality show on CMT.

It may sound like an unlikely pairing, but Garth insists her roots are about as humble as they come.

Garth grew up in Urbana, Illinois, more than 2,000 miles from her alter ego on Beverly Hills. Her family grew their own food on their ranch, where she was raised with five siblings.

"I can still remember flipping through the tattered pages of my mom’s favorite cookbook, about feeding a family on $12 a week," she writes.

If anything, we hope Garth fares better in the realm of celebrity coupon blogging than Kate Gosselin. The reality TV mom of eight was fired from her gig as a weekly blogger for CouponCabin.com due to creative differences in October.

“Our goal at RetailMeNot continues to be to help consumers make sense of a world where they are inundated with deals, and to use a blend of news reporting, expert advice and entertainment to help shoppers make well-informed choices," Kristen Remeza, the editor-in-chief of The Real Deal by RetailMeNot said in a statement.

NBC Announces Jimmy Fallon Will Succeed Jay Leno February 2014

jimmy fallon jay leno

Amid much speculation, NBC has finally confirmed that Jimmy Fallon will succeed Jay Leno come February 2014.

The New York Times' Bill Carter reports:

NBC plans to announce on Wednesday its plan to install Mr. Fallon as the show’s sixth host at the conclusion of the network’s coverage of the 2014 Winter Olympics from Sochi, Russia. NBC also is to confirm reports that it plans to shake up the axes of the television industry by moving the show from its longtime home in Los Angeles to its birthplace, New York.

And despite his recent jabs at NBC, Leno says he is on board with the succession.

“The main difference between this and the other time is I’m part of the process," Leno told the Times. "The last time the decision was made without me. I came into work one day and — you’re out.”

He continued that this time around, “There really aren’t any complications like there were the last time. This time it feels right.”

Steve Burke, the chief executive of NBCUniversal, added, “Clearly our goal has been to make this a smooth transition. Jay deserves to be treated like someone who has done a wonderful thing for our company for two decades.”

After Leno leaves the air with much fanfare at the same time the network will be broadcasting the Winter Games in February, the "Tonight" show will also leave its longtime home of Los Angeles for New York.

“Jimmy is a New York guy, and the idea of having a show that is in the city Jimmy has always lived in and has Jimmy’s sensibility made sense," said Fallon's "Late Night" executive producer, Lorne Michaels. “It starts from who Jimmy is.”

“There’s no place in the world better to do a show than 30 Rock,” he added. “I know that because I do one every week.”

And after yesterday's musical duet, it appears things really are okay between Leno and Fallon in the land of NBC.

"The Tonight Show’ was number one when I got it,” Leno told the Times. “I’ve kept it number one for about 90 percent of my term here; and I would like to see Jimmy keep it at number one — which I’m sure he will.”

“I have nothing but respect for Jay,” said Fallon. “If it weren’t for him, I wouldn’t have a show to be taking over.”

As for Leno's next move, the 64-year-old says he expects to be “back on the road, being a comedian again.”

It's official.

Disney has shut down LucasArts

The Mouse House announced today that it will be laying off all 150 people at the game publishing division of Lucasfilm.

Current projects, "Star Wars: First Assault" and the much-hyped "Star Wars 1313" have been cancelled.

Here's the official statement:

"After evaluating our position in the games market, we've decided to shift LucasArts from an internal development to a licensing model, minimizing the company's risk while achieving a broader portfolio of quality Star Wars games. As a result of this change, we've had layoffs across the organization. We are incredibly appreciative and proud of the talented teams who have been developing our new titles."

Disney purchased Lucasfilm October of last year for $4 billion.

Last month, Lucasfilm announced it was ending its popular Cartoon Network series, "Star Wars: The Clone Wars," and was delaying Seth Green's future animated series, "Star Wars Detours."

Warner Bros. Could Lose $140 Million On 'Jack The Giant Slayer'

$

jack and the giant slayer

We knew this was coming

"Jack the Giant Slayer" could lose between $125 million to $140 million for Warner Bros. and partner Legendary Pictures, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The Ewan McGregor fairytale inspired film cost an estimated $195 million to produce.

During its six-week run at theaters, it has earned $158.1 million worldwide.

The last two big films to see similar losses at theaters were Disney's "John Carter" and Universal's "Battleship" in 2012.

Last year, "Speed Racer" lost Warner Bros. more than $114.5 million.

"Jack" isn't the only film Warner Bros. should be worried about.

None of its other releases so far this year — "Gangster Squad," "Bullet to the Head," "Beautiful Creatures," and "The Incredible Burt Wonderstone" – have fared well at theaters this year.

Action flick "Bullet to the Head," featuring Sylvester Stallone bombed in February earning $4.5 million opening weekend. The film, which has an estimated budget of $55 million, has earned $9.5 million to date worldwide.

The $345.1 million worldwide gross of all five of Warner Bros. releases this year is trumped by that of Disney's "Oz the Great and Powerful" which has earned $415.8 million worldwide in four weekends.

Warner Bros.' box-office intake should improve vastly in the coming two months.

great gatsby dicaprio carey mulliganThe studio will be releasing both "The Great Gatsby" and "The Hangover Part III" within weeks of each other next month.

Come June, Warner Bros. will hope Superman film "Man of Steel" will have the same summer box-office power as Christopher Nolan's "Dark Knight" trilogy did at theaters.

"The Dark Knight Rises" alone earned more than $1 billion last year at theaters.

Out next for Warner Bros. is Jackie Robinson baseball film, "42" starring Harrison Ford.

Given its current box-office slump, it's a wonder the studio didn't move up the highly-anticipated "Gatsby" in order for it to gain more traction at theaters.

Instead, when it debuts May 10, "Gatsby" will be sandwiched between two other big releases.

The F. Scott Fitzgerald adaptation will have to compete with Disney's "Iron Man 3" out the week prior and Paramount's "Star Trek Into Darkness" the following week.

E! 'Fashion Police' Writers Claim They're Owed More Than $1 Million In Unpaid Wages

Eight writers on E!'s reality show "Fashion Police" on Wednesday filed a claim with state labor officials alleging that they're not being fairly compensated for the hours they've been working.

“The most I’ve been paid for a show has been for eight hours of work,” said "Fashion Police" writer Eliza Skinner. “In reality, I put in anywhere from 12 to 32 additional hours on each show -- time I should have been compensated for. On top of that is all the unpaid overtime we regularly work. There are some shows where we are required to work 16-hour days, from 2:30 p.m. until around 5:30 the following morning.”

Also read: Reality TV: The Invisible Front in Hollywood's Labor Wars

"Fashion Police," which debuted in the fall of 2010, features hosts Joan Rivers, Giuliana Rancic, Kelly Osbourne and George Kotsiopoulos commenting on celebrity fashions.

The network, which is owned by NBC/Universal, issued this statement in response to the filing: “E! values our Fashion Police writers and we pay them fairly and in full legal compliance.”

The claim was filed with the California Division of Labor Standards Enforcement. If upheld, it could result in the cable TV network having to pay more than $1 million in back wages, according to the Writers Guild of America West, which is providing legal assistance to the writers.

Also read: Moving From 'Mob Wives' to Kardashians: Jeff Olde Joins E! From VH1

According to the writers, who are not working under a guild contract, "Fashion Police" ignores the California laws that require an employer to pay hourly employees their regular wage rate for all time worked in an eight-hour period. In addition, the law requires paying overtime for employment beyond eight hours in any workday or more than 40 hours in any workweek.

“We love writing for 'Fashion Police,' but the company needs to do the right thing and pay us fairly for all the hard work and time we put into it,” said writer Bryan Cook. “We’ve helped make it one of the network’s top-rated shows and E! needs to start treating us like professional writers.”
