The IRS Has Seized Lindsay Lohan's Bank Accounts

Lindsay Lohan

In addition to being arrested for assault, add mounting financial problems to Lindsay Lohan's list of issues over the past week.

Lohan's debts are apparently so outstanding that the IRS has seized the troubled actress’ bank accounts to pay her massive tax debt.

According to TMZ, the IRS had previously filed tax liens against Lohan for the years 2009 and 2010, claiming she owes $233,904 in unpaid federal taxes.

Lohan's "Scary Movie 5" co-star Charlie Sheenjust wrote the actress a $100,000 check to help pay her tax debt, but it barely scratched the surface, reports TMZ, because the "Liz & Dick" star also owes money for 2011.

Lohan is set to earn a reported $2 million by year's end, but apparently it still isn't enough for the 26-year-old to cover her taxes, and the IRS is now tired of waiting — hence seizing all of her bank accounts in order to settle her debt.

According to TMZ, Lohan is now "in full-on panic mode about her financial situation, and is desperately trying to make some cash to get out of the red."

Here's How You Can Bet On The Royal Baby

Kate Middleton Princess Duchess of Cambridge

The announcement of a forthcoming Royal baby from Kate Middleton and Prince William has led to all sorts of speculation— and inevitably the gambling community is getting in on the game.

British bookmakers William Hill were first out of the gate, offering 10/11 odds that it is a boy, and 10/11 odds it will be a girl. Odds of 20/1 are also being offered for the birth of twins, a drop from earlier in the day when odds of 32/1 were being offered (as the FT's Hannah Kuchler points out, severe morning sickness, as reportedly experienced by Kate, is more common amongst mothers carrying multiple babies).

As has become their trademark style, Paddy Power has followed up with some more exciting ways to part with your money. Currently the Irish bookmaker is offering bets on "Next Monarch", "Godparents", "Multiple birth?", "Sex of first child", "Name of first child", "Hair colour of first child", "Weight of first child", and "Time of birth of first child".

Amongst those you'll find some interesting outside bets — 6/1 odds for a ginger baby, for example, 250/1 odds for the female child being called "Fergie", or Victoria Beckham at 100/1 for being named the godmother.

According to one odds checking website, the early favorites for the name are John and Robert if a boy or Anne and Francis if a girl.

Of course, there is always the danger of inside information with something like this. Trevor Kavanagh, formerly politics editor of the Sun, says that his paper was able to get a scoop in 1988 after a large number of bets on the name "Beatrice" at a betting shop suspiciously close to Balmoral Castle.

Earlier today, we got a glimpse at the new "Star Trek" poster, and now we're getting a look at another anticipated summer blockbuster for 2013.

It took longer than expected, but fans finally unlocked the first "Man of Steel" poster attached to the release of "The Dark Knight Rises" on DVD and Blu-ray tomorrow.

As you may know, TDKR director Christopher Nolan worked on the screenplay for Superman's return to the big screen, so we're excited to finally get a peek.

Our only complaint: Is it us, or does it look a little blurry?

SPOTTED: Cary Grant's Old Plane Needs Serious Work

During a Ford-sponsored drive of the 2013 Fiesta in California last week, we stopped at Camarillo Airport for a bit of track driving on an empty runway. Plenty of planes flew overhead and landed nearby, but none were as interesting at the old shell parked next to us.

Airport employees told us the 1960 Convair 240-5 once belonged to Cary Grant, and that it was waiting to be renovated. Looks like a lot of work.

yoko ono john lennon clothing line

Yoko Ono created a bizarre men's clothing line, inspired by John Lennon's "sexy bod," for Opening Ceremony that includes hand prints on the crotch, mesh shirts, "Lightbulb bras," and bottomless trousers.

Apparently Ono has been sitting on these masterpieces for 43 years.

"I was inspired to create ‘Fashions for Men’ amazed at how my man was looking so great. I felt it was a pity if we could not make clothes emphasizing his very sexy bod,” she told Women's Wear Daily.“So, I made this whole series with love for his hot bod and gave it to him as a wedding present. You can imagine how he went wild and fell in love with me even more."

The clothes range from $75 to a whopping $750.

We've singled out the most outrageous.

The line's staple piece is the "hand trousers" for $335.

See it here.

Which can be dressed down with a wide array of "mesh cutout shirts," costing $145 each.

James Bond

2013 is just around the corner, which means it's time to reflect on what happened in 2012.

This year brought us "Ted," the highest-grossing R-rated original comedy to date, "Skyfall," the highest-grossing Bond film, the end of the "Twilight" phenomenon, and the beginning of "The Hunger Games" series. It's been quite the box office year.

To help us remember all the great movies from the past 12 months, YouTube user SleepySkunk has compiled a mashup of the year's trailers. The almost seven-minute long video includes clips ranging from "21 Jump Street" to Disney's "Brave."

The file isn't embeddable, but you can check it out here.

13 Things You Don't Know About 'The Walking Dead'

tyrese the walking deadWarning: There are spoilers ahead.

Now that "The Walking Dead" is done until February, where are we supposed to get our fix of the Governor, his creepy head aquarium collection, and the slowly-descending-into-madness Rick?

We've gathered a few things we've learned from deleted scenes, DVDs, "The Talking Dead," the in depth show on following "The Walking Dead," and AMC spanning the entire series.

Find out the deal with Shane's shaggy look last night, creator Robert Kirkman's favorite part of the prison, and what two original characters have never been seen on screen together until yesterday.

If you need to get your fix of Rick, Carl, Daryl and the Woodbury lot, this should help a little.

The word 'zombie' is never said throughout the series. The zombies are referred to as "Walkers," "Geeks," "Roamers," "Lamebrains," "Biters," and at the CDC, "Test Subjects."

The name Edwin Jenner, the doctor at the CDC, is a reference to Edward Jenner who developed the first vaccine.

Check it out.

"The Walking Dead" released a series of webisodes revealing the backstory of the "bicycle" zombie Rick Grimes shot in the series premiere. It took a total of 27 hours to shoot in summer 2011.

Here Are The Biggest Problems With 'The Hobbit'

$

the hobbit dwarves

The first reviews have hit the web for Peter Jackson's return to Middle Earth, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey – and the verdict is almost as puzzling as one of Bilbo's riddles.

While the majority of critics praise the first film in the trilogy based on JRR Tolkien's 1937 children's novel – which was followed 17 years later by the better-known Lord of the Rings – there are considerable misgivings about the length of the movie, the decision to split the book into three films, and Jackson's determination to shoot at a controversial 48 frames per second. The film currently maintains an 82% "fresh" rating on the review aggregator site rottentomatoes.com, yet you wouldn't know it from some of the comments made in the reviews.

The US trades, in particular, are a bit sniffy. "Spending nearly three hours of screen time to visually represent every comma, period and semicolon in the first six chapters of the perennially popular 19-chapter book, Jackson and his colleagues have created a purist's delight, something the millions of die-hard fans of his Lord of the Rings trilogy will gorge upon," writes Todd McCarthy of the Hollywood Reporter. "In pure movie terms, however, it's also a bit of a slog, with an inordinate amount of exposition and lack of strong forward movement. In Jackson's academically fastidious telling, it's as if The Wizard of Oz had taken nearly an hour just to get out of Kansas."

"Bilbo's three-hour journey is awfully slow to start," agrees Variety's Peter Debruge. "Jackson and his team seem compelled to flesh out the world of their earlier trilogy in scenes that would be better left to extended-edition DVDs (or omitted entirely), all but failing to set up a compelling reason for fans to return for the second instalment." However, he admits: "Few film series have achieved the consistency of look and feel maintained across these Middle Earth-set stories, and once the adventure gets going, Jackson reminds audiences of his expertise at managing action on a scale that would have made David Lean wish he'd had CGI in his toolbox."

IGN's Jim Vejvoda says The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey "almost attains greatness yet despite so many moments of epic fun, greatness remains just out of its reach". He adds: "This is a very good and entertaining movie even if it never quite recaptures the wonder or mystique of the Lord of the Rings. HitFix's Drew McWeeny makes sure we are aware that Jackson's film is "a very good movie" before lingering fastidiously into its faults: "There is more of a sense of heavy lifting involved at the start of the film as the older version of Bilbo, played once again by Ian Holm, shows up in a framing device that takes place mere moments before the opening of 'Fellowship'," he writes. "There is also the difficult nature of the way it all opens, with a dinner sequence that introduces all 6,000 dwarf characters and that seems to go on for a few hours. It is one of two major momentum killing sequences in the film, and taken together with the frantic, overwhelming nature of some of the action sequences, it makes for a very mixed experience."

What of those 48 frames per second, the format introduced by Jackson for his new trilogy which has been criticised in some quarters for looking like daytime TV, and – worse – causing some viewers to feel nauseous. Debruge complains that it's "disconcerting" and exacerbates the "phoniness" of sets and costumes, while McCarthy thinks it "looks like ultra-vivid television video, paradoxically lending the film a oddly theatrical look". The movie is also viewable at the standard, 24 frames per second rate, which most preferred. "[It] had a softer, noticeably more textured image quality," says McCarthy.

I failed to find a single review which offered unfettered praise for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, though most – like cinemablend.com's Katey Rich– thought it "a good enough excuse to make a return visit to Middle Earth". Devin Faraci of badassdigest.com perhaps sums up the general word on Jackson's film, which arrives in US and UK cinemas on 14 December. Below a headline that describes the film as being "perfectly OK" sits the legend: "It's not as bad as you feared, not as good as you hoped."

The Man Who Brought Us The 'Star Wars' Prequels Just Left Lucasfilm

jar jar binks star wars episode I rick mccallum

First George Lucas bid farewell to his "Star Wars" franchise when he Disney bought Lucasfilm at the end of October, and now another man close to the films is hanging up his Jedi robes.

Rick McCallum, a longtime producer of the franchise, is leaving Lucasfilm. McCallum had a leading role in developing the three "Star Wars" prequels and brought us the many re-releases of the classics including the upcoming 3D re-releases of the prequels.

Instead, McCallum will focus on his own film projects outside of Lucasfilm.

What this means for the future of the franchise:

  • A clean slate. With little insight from Lucas and the exit of one of the franchises producers, it looks like Disney is really looking to start fresh with their take on "Star Wars."

In a statement with StarWars.com, McCallum even gave his seal of approval to Kathleen Kennedy taking over the future of the films.

"There's no one more suited who is able to bridge the worlds of elite filmmaking within a studio context," McCallum said. "The Star Wars saga will always be taken care of under her leadership."

The 3D releases of episodes II and III will be released September 20 and October 4, 2013, respectively. Episode I came out February 10 of this year.

The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show airs tonight, with an estimated production cost of over $12 million.

The show has been criticized for promoting unrealistic beauty, especially since a Limited Brands executive famously told the New York Times that fewer than 100 women worldwide were capable of walking its runway.

But many of the models have appeared without makeup, showing what they look like before several stylists have worked their magic.

We compiled side-by-side comparisons of some of the most famous Victoria's Secret models with and without makeup.

See Tyra Banks, Miranda Kerr, Adriana Lima and more without their makeup.

This is Candice Swanepoel's IMG portfolio shot contrasted with a picture of her from a Victoria's Secret event. She'll appear in tonight's 2012 show.

Angel Miranda Kerr appeared bare-faced to a red carpet event. Her skin is famously smooth, even without makeup.

Longtime angel Adriana Lima smiles for the camera as she prepares for the show.

AMC Is Determined To Destroy Its Brand

breaking bad exploding car scene

The three best networks on television are, in no particular order: FX, HBO, and AMC.

Both have had a remarkable run of great series, although FX kind of muddied their waters with Russell Brand and Charlie Sheen, while HBO is determined to be the home to quality dramas and dramedies, even if they are sometimes dull (Enlightened) or, arguably, overwrought (Newsroom).

AMC, on the other hand, had a sterling track record with Mad Men, Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead. Then they gave us Rubicon, which was not terribly well received, but at least it was very AMC-like (and beloved by four people), The Killing (what should’ve been great show if it hadn’t been mismanaged by Veena Sud), and Hell on Wheels, another show befitting the AMC brand but that not everyone has gotten into.

However, AMC is now officially tanking the brand, going from great and potentially-great dramas to reality crap. Kevin Smith’s Comic Book Men was just the beginning, followed by The Pitch, a decent enough reality show if you’re into the advertising industry. But pairing Small Town Security with Breaking Bad was like pairing a beautiful steak dinner with a bowl full of upchuck for dessert.

Unfortunately, it’s not getting better, as AMC veers further and further from the shows that put them on the map.

Indeed, while AMC is developing two potentially promising dramas— one about George Washington and spies during the Revolutionary War, and another about the computer industry in the 1980s—it’s also filling up on reality fare. In addition to renewing Comic Book Men and Small Town Security (GUH!), AMC is also launching Freakshow, a reality show that will follow a family behind a Venice Beach boardwalk freakshow attraction (sounds like a TLC program) and Immortalized, a reality competition series about taxidermists (sounds like a History Channel show).

Add to that another reality competition, Owner’s Manual, which will pit two people against each other in a competition to see if it’s better to build with or without an owner’s manual, which sounds like another History channel show.

At least, AMC has seen fit to separate its drama from its reality programming, keeping the dramas on Sundays, and now launching all these reality shows in a Thursday night block. However, I think their brand would be much better off sticking exclusively to dramas. These reality shows will do little but dilute the once pristine reputation of the network.

Here's Who Bravo Has Been Asking To Audition For Randi Zuckerberg's NYC Startup Show

laura barganier brew pr

A few weeks ago, we wrote a post about who Randi Zuckerberg should try and cast for a potential spinoff of her Bravo show, "Start-Ups: Silicon Valley."

Startups: Silicon Valley follows around "wantrepreneurs" in San Francisco and tapes them throwing parties, asking venture capitalists for cash, and saying ridiculous things. After a few weeks of decent ratings, Zuckerberg announced a casting call for a similar show about the New York tech scene.

We pointed Zuckerberg and Gotham Casting, an agency that's working with her to pitch the show to Bravo, toward a bunch of witty, cool and attractive up-and-comers in NYC.

It turns out Zuckerberg took our post seriously. We've spoken with a few of the people who were on our list, and they've all been asked to apply. Gotham even referenced our article in the audition requests.

Here's the email that one of our suggested cast members, Gizmodo writer Sam Biddle, received (sadly, he says he won't be doing the show)

Everything You Need To Know About The New Villain In 'The Amazing Spider-Man' Sequel

$

jamie foxx electro

The rumors had been swirling since last month, but it's finally official.

Last night, Jamie Foxx confirmed to Entertainment Tonightthat he'll be playing Electro in "The Amazing Spider-Man" sequel.

So who is the villain the Oscar winner is set to play?

There are a few variations on the villain; however, we anticipate the version of Electro in the film will be Maxwell Dillon who appeared in Marvel's The Amazing Spider-Man comic.

With that in mind, here's everything you need to know about Electro:

He wears a green and yellow getup and looks like he wears a giant star on his face.

the amazing spider-man comic #82Dillon is an electrician who becomes a human lightening rod after a freak accident where he's struck by lightning while on the job.

His vendetta against Spidey: He was once hired by J. Jonah Jameson (publisher of the Daily Bugle) to take down Spider-Man. Jameson was considered to appear in the reboot of the film.

Considering J.K. Simmons was eager to reprise his role as Jameson in the new franchise, we could see this as one possible direction for the film.

However, the bigger nugget is knowing Electro's ultimate role in the Marvel universe.

Electro eventually becomes part of the Sinister Six, a group comprising of a mix of villains from the Spider-Man realm. The bad guys included have ranged from Electro and Doctor Octopus to the Chameleon, Mysterio, Rhino, and Sandman, to even the Lizard and Hobgoblin ... who is none other than Harry Osborn

The Lizard was the prominent villain in the first film, and Director Marc Webb also confirmed Dane DeHaan as Harry Osborn yesterday on Twitter.

We know a Spider-Man / Avengers merger down the line is somewhat difficult to imagine due to Sony's rights to Spidey and Disney's hold on Iron Man and the gang; however, this could be the perfect way to join the two down the line considering the Sinister Six were once taken down by the Marvel team.

The "Amazing Spider-Man 2" won't be on the big screen until 2014.

Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen Are Selling $55K Backpacks Covered In Prescription Pills

Olsen Twins

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have come a long way since their tween clothing line for Walmart.

The 26-year-old former TV star twins and current heads of a billion dollar empire, have just unveiled their latest accessories collection co-designed by contemporary artist, Damien Hirst.

The threesome have created a black patent leather Nile crocodile backpack by under the Olsen's The Row label, covered in Hirst's signature prescription pills.

The backpacks are retailing for a whopping $55,000 on the retail site JustOneEye.com as of December 12.

Only 12 backpacks will be made and Hirst will determine how much of the proceeds from sales will be donated to UNICEF.

Other, more subtle designs have small gold or multicolored dots, large gold or multicolored dots, and black and grey pills.

"Each bag is crafted in Italy and includes features like an internal detachable handle, adjustable canvas straps, internal zip-fastening, slit pockets, small gold-plated brass feet at base, a metal mirror plate and case, and designer-stamped gold-plated brass hardware signed by Hirst," reports TIME.

But this isn't the first time an Olsen-designed bag has been shock-inducing.

In June, PETA slammed the twins for using real animal pelts for a $16,900 fuzzy backpack from their line, The Row and last October, the designers faced criticism for selling $39,000 crocodile backpacks, that ironically flew off shelves.

Hirst famously set an auction record for the most expensive work of art by a living artist in 2007, when his piece Lullaby Spring, a steel cabinet with 6,136 pills, sold for $19.2 million to the Emir of Qatar

Check out the current controversial bag below:

Here's What A Disney Movie Can Teach Us About Settling IP Deals Without A Vicious Court Battle

wreck it raplh

If anything, the tech world's massive patent battles teach us the wrong way to handle intellectual property disputes.

So who can teach us the right way? Disney, from the sounds of it.

A Quora user asked the team behind Disney's latest flick "Wreck-It Ralph" how it got the intellectual property licenses for all of the video game characters featured in the movie.

And it sounds like they just put in the effort and the face time to get what they wanted.

Director Rich Moore said he and producer Clark Spencer went to a meet-and-greet event with the video game companies, talked to everyone involved in person and kept them up to date every step of the way.

"So many of these gaming companies understood that we were going to do our best to take care of their characters and be collaborative with them," Moore wrote on Quora.

And that inclusive attitude paid off for the House of Mouse.

"As a result we got pretty much almost anything we wanted, because the companies started feeling the momentum and everybody pretty much said yes to us," producer and designer Alan Dang said of the movie team's teamwork with the video game companies.

Alternatively, Disney could have gone ahead and used characters that looked and acted like the video games companies' creations. But those video game companies probably would have turned around and sued Disney for trademark infringement.

So there is something to be said for trying good old-fashioned teamwork to avoid a court battle.
